Some information went pass over my head here lol but thank you @everyone. I suppose I will have to do more reading on this stuff and I hope others will do too.

Simply disabling Telnet would not stop people from enabling it again, but changing the password regularly.. might solve the problem. You must have administrative privileges in order to reset the password. (Windows)

3502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Total Bitcoin lost to date? on: January 22, 2020, 04:52:23 AM
Thanks for the informative replies @everyone. Other than the provably lost coins of 182+ btc and the 7,500 btc thrown away by James Howells, it's really hard to determine how many were lost to date. I think there's only a small percentage of the zombie coins with lost/forgotten private keys but that's just my opinion.

Someone shared about quantum computers and basically claimed that those lost/forgotten coins will be recovered sometime in the future but that's still speculation imo.
3503  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Total Bitcoin lost to date? on: January 21, 2020, 08:42:18 AM
The news of Peter Schiff losing his bitcoin sparked my interest again into digging how many btc's are lost forever. The only study I can find is the report by Chainanalysis where they claim that between 2.3 and 3.7 million (or 3.8 million) bitcoin are lost.

Quote
Between 2.3 and 3.7 million bitcoin are lost, reducing market capitalisation by between 13% and 22%. Market capitalisation could be reduced by a further 35% if illiquid investor holdings are removed from the cap.

Quote
As of April 2018, of the 21 million bitcoin that will ever exist, around 4 million are currently unmined, at least 2.3 million are lost, 7.4 million are held as long term investments - of which a further 1.5 million could be lost, 2.2 million are held for transactions by services, such as exchanges, and 5.1 million are held for speculation.

That report, however, was published last 2018. Assuming Peter's claim and the several "I lost my btc" threads here are true, what do you think is the current estimate of total lost bitcoin?

(edit: it looks like blockchain.com is fixing Peter's "lost btc" issue from their reply so forget about that in making your estimates  Grin)

It is safe to say that more and more will be added to the total until the last bitcoin is mined. By the year 2140, btc's total supply in circulation could be more or less 10 million. I can't imagine the effect of that on the price.

Ilang days of weeks ba inaabot bago mag expire yung log in sa app at kailangan mo ulit mag log in? baka kasi nag expire lang yung log in ko kaya pinag log in ulit ako?

Thanks for the advice and a future prediction of how BCT will be.   I'ts so bright. <<<Sarcasim>
In case you don't know yet, the forum has been like this before your account was even created (2018). The forum rules have been long set and if you have a problem about how everyone is allowed to argue/debate on certain issues, then you are probably not cut out for this.

I would suggest that you avoid the forum drama that you are complaining about. Read on boards that are more focused on blockchain technology, trading, mining, and other helpful stuff. At the end of the day, you cannot control what other people say here. If you let them affect you negatively, that's all on you.

Try to connect with this guy in our local board. I'm not sure if his attempt was successful before but he can probably share some tips. Best of luck.
3507  Local / Pamilihan / Re: 🔥 🔥 WARNING!! 🔥 🔥 BenriBit Exchange 0.3BTC Giveaway is a SCAM!! on: January 21, 2020, 04:55:35 AM
The same scheme pero iba lang ang mode of payment. This is yet another proof na scammers are also adapting to the technology.

What do you guys think?
Care to share first where you read this 20% tax? There are different kinds of taxes but basing on the rate, I would assume that the profits from bitcoin trading are classified as capital gains which are subject to capital gains tax (rates vary per country). It's hard to comment on topics like this without getting more information.
3510  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Coins.ph Official Thread on: January 20, 2020, 07:45:37 AM
Then kahapon 1k via gcash walang OTP. So it depends on the amount and the probably mode of withdrawal.
I mean for all we know there's an upgrade sa security then all of a sudden hindi pala consistent.
Maraming factors siguro and kino-consider bago magpadala ng OTP.

It was probably designed that way para hindi din madaling ma-detect yung pattern nila.

Napa-read back talaga ako dun sa 2 cents OTP  Grin

3512  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Conor McGregor vs Manny Pacquiao on: January 20, 2020, 06:13:49 AM
Unlike before, Conor has plenty of worthy opponents fight fans wants to see now. After his performance against Donald, I personally want him to fight Jorge or Tony. It's a great match up, style wise.

A focused Conor is deadly and great for the UFC. Talks of a fight with Manny Pacquiao will only defocus him.

I thought that Conor is talking about facing Floyd again? How come Manny's name pops out?
Floyd = Money = Manny  Huh

What specific PESO LOAN APP are you referring too?
And how's the scam happen? There's an instruction about how to pay for that loan. Why entertain a text message?
Do you really think this is an inside job or users' negligence?
I have the same questions.

I noticed kasi that their is a yearly card fee of 500 for their PlayEveryday card and 350 for their Personal Savings card.
~
I am planning to buy kasi some cryptos using Abra but the only bank that support it right now is Union Bank
Do you really need these cards para makabili ng crypto using Abra/Union bank?

We have over 100 merchants available for redemption (cashback and annual fee waiver coming soon!). You may log in UnionBank or visit the Play Points page for the merchant catalogue.

3517  Other / Beginners & Help / Hacker leaks passwords for more than 500,000 servers, routers, and IoT devices on: January 19, 2020, 02:32:27 PM
I just read this article where a hacker published sensitive data including IP addresses, usernames and passwords.

Quote
According to experts to who ZDNet spoke this week, and a statement from the leaker himself, the list was compiled by scanning the entire internet for devices that were exposing their Telnet port. The hacker than tried using (1) factory-set default usernames and passwords, or (2) custom, but easy-to-guess password combinations.

I'm not an expert when it comes to security so if anyone is knowledgeable, kindly explain the implications of this leak. What can be done to protect your personal data? Creating a really tough password is probably one of them, what else?

Kung sakali man na hindi pa puno by the date set by angrybirdy, I'm fine with cancelling the raffle.
