2781  Other / Off-topic / Re: The New Normal on: July 17, 2020, 09:56:49 AM
The pandemic certainly changed how people move and how they think (atleast in our area). Best example is our neighbors who love to mingle every morning or afternoon are few feet apart while wearing mask. That's definitely a "new normal" for them Grin

Seriously though, I believe many were humbled because of the pandemic. I've seen degree holders and high ranking employees switched to online selling, food deliveries, some even joined the transport sector (Grab) to have a new source of income.

~ Being fully into digital world now, does it also help reviving the Country's economy that fast?
As others have said, there are many sectors who can't go full digital. Digitalization won't make economic recovery that fast but businesses who are mostly digital are keeping the economy stay afloat (i.e legit/regulated online casinos).

~
"The New Normal" is a disgusting journalist clickbait cliche.I'm sick of hearing this "the new normal" shit for the last 5 months.
In the place where I live, there's no panic about the pandemic. The masks are required only in hospitals and stores. There's no "new normal" in my town.Everything is normal.I don't know anything about the situation in the big cities of western Europe and USA and I don't trust the mainstream media.
Nobody is "fully" into the digital world. You can just sit in front of the computer for 10 hours.
The large portion of the economy is "brick'n mortar",which means offline. The digital world can't help for reviving the offline real economy.
I'm curious about the reported cases in your area. Do you follow updates from your Government? If there are none or only a few, then that explains why health protocols are more relaxed.

From where I am from, face masks are strictly enforced and anyone caught not wearing gets fined. Although health protocols relaxed a bit, reported new cases hasn't dropped and our Government continues to assess whether to implement tighter measures.

it's good that the webpage has been taken down already. things like this should be heavily moderated because there are too many gullible people that believe in things like this.
Don't bet on it. Platforms like facebook and google are always late to act on these things. It will take massive reporting before they take an action. Like what @Baofeng said, scammers are clever in bypassing whatever security measures these platforms put up. Safe to say that they are one or two step ahead most of the time.

The best practice is still educating oneself on legit and scam investments.

2783  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Jeff Horn vs. Tim Tszyu on: July 17, 2020, 08:25:26 AM
~ legendary boxer Kostya Tszyu who gave the infamous Zab Judah that "stanky leg dance" here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2o7A3rMN6Co.
You definitely got me here. Never heard of this "stanky leg dance" before. I thought it was some special boxing foot work or whatever  Grin Grin Grin

Jeff Horn has the experienced here and he is a very tough and rugged fighter, if this goes to full 10 rounds, I will have Horn in the scorecard. Tim needs to set the tone of the fight early, otherwise he will be uncomfortable when Horn smothered here with his dirty tactics.
Yup. If Tim can't overpower Jeff with his punches early on, he'll probably get a beating. This fight should be a good test to see if he has the intelligence and patience. It'll be wise to go after Jeff's body first so he can't run around the ring and become an easier target.

There are some guys here who have participated in mass gatherings in the past like the recent street protests. Now, they've also endangered the lives of their friends/teammates/family.

But regardless of the current numbers, it seems NBA retart will still push through.
2785  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker site on: July 17, 2020, 07:16:05 AM
Sportsbet and SWC seems to be the most popular here. They've sponsored tournaments exclusive for bitcointalk members in the past too. I cannot vouch for their provably fair mechanism though but maybe the members who participated in the tournaments can.

Try asking @efialtis also if there's a plan to host another one https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5217547.0

~
I already tagged the Betbit Casino support account and already made flag to warn other possible victim. Please support flag against them here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=2145 so everyone will be aware.
I don't think you should use BetBit's ANN thread as reference for the flag or your tag. It should be linked to a scam accusation or reputation thread like what @Rodeo02 suggested.
2788  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bitcoin Loophole? on: July 16, 2020, 01:39:28 PM
Hindi ko mabuksan ang website. Na-take down na yata.

Parang may dumaan na ganito sa feed ko few weeks ago pero ignore ko lang. Caption pa lang ng picture halata ng pang-click bait lang at most likely scam. Isa pa, granted na may alam nga siya about bitcoin at cryptocurrencies in general, Sec. Dominguez isn't allowed to talk about such things publicly dahil isa siyang Government official serving at the pleasure of the Philippine President.

I think the official thread will be the best place to receive infos if something does change.
Its just very unlikely...
Nah. If you look at their ANN, there were no response to user's concerns since last month. The representative was last active in May 26, 2020.

It's not the first time they had issues with delay in payments.
No active support.
Website down.

Considering the above, it's most likely that they're gone for good.

Did you email them?
2790  Local / Pamilihan / Re: US SEC charges Abra + Plutus Technologies Philippines Corp for Security Swapping on: July 16, 2020, 08:54:54 AM
Hindi na-mention sa OP na US SEC (hindi Pinas SEC) and nag-charge sa Abra at Plutus Tech although makikita naman yan kapag binuksan yung article at basahin yung title. Paglilinaw lang.

It's about ung pagbenta ng Abra dati ng "synthetic" stocks dati, which inalis rin nila agad months ago; most likely dahil narealize rin nila na may pagka illegal ung feature na inimplement nila regardless kung hindi talaga sila nagbebenta ng actual stocks and ETFs.
Kelan ulit nila tinigil?

They stopped in Feb. 2019 but then resumed operation noong may 2019. They tried to outsmart the US SEC and CFTC by blocking customers residing in the US and moved some of their operations dito sa Pinas pero the authorities saw na meron pa din silang binebenta sa US.

~ As far as I know, ang ramification lang nito e ipepenalize lang siguro ang Abra dahil dito. Probably nothing more than that.
~ Like I said mukhang sanction lang ang makukuha ng Abra dito at baka kailangan lang nila mag-undergo sa right procedures before they can officially launch their ETFs again.

Slapped with $300K fine by US SEC and CFTC ($150K for each agency). Wala namang angal yung dalawang kumpanya dahil maliit lang na halaga siguro yan para sa kanila. Other than the fine, both companies also agreed to a cease-and-desist order. This is the part na unclear sa akin. Ano kaya yung sakop ng CDO? I believe it only covers the selling of security-based swaps.

~ Mukhang matagal na rin pala nila ito ginawang available sa Pilipinas at medyo nakakagulat na ngayon lang nakita ng SEC natin
Alam naman siguro pero they just let the US SEC to take the lead at nag-assist na lang sila.

2793  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lessons from the Past: When bitcoin's price stabilised on: July 16, 2020, 07:30:47 AM
Welp, I've seen some predictions taking caution and waiting for a crash and I've also seen bullish posts. Whichever way it goes, there will always be winners and there will be losers on the trade. I doubt long term hodlers are bothered by these past trends and predictions though.

Lately, we have seen a lot of investors and crypto speculators saying that bitcoin's price movement is somewhat boring ~
There's always two sides of a coin. While there are people who prefer a volatile market so they can keep on profiting (or losing) from riding the trends, there are also those who wishes the price to become more stable for higher chance of mass adoption. I bet it's the latter who are happy now.

~ because it has been trading sideways for many weeks now.

2794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is your Bitcoin address known to surveillance? on: July 15, 2020, 03:53:36 PM
Looks like a chain analysis of some sort that can be used by the public. I feel like this was created to counter companies selling their blockchain analysis to governments, private comapnies and exchanges (an example is Chainalysis Inc.)
2795  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: July 12, 2020, 03:58:02 PM
I stopped monitoring the Usman-Masvidal fight after round 3. I knew what was gonna after if it goes beyond that. Has anyone counted how many foot stomps Usman did?

Volkanovski vs. Holloway could have gone either way. Max clearly got rounds 1 and 2. The later rounds was like a toss coin for the judges. I think if these two will fight for the 3rd time (or more), it will still remain close.
2796  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cryptcarbon.com is it legit? or am I being scammed? on: July 12, 2020, 03:30:37 PM
Is this a con or are they genuinely just wanting to verify the wallet address?
It's a con as explained by @mk4.

The fact that they even told you to create an account on a website that you don't even know instead of asking for your personal bitcoin wallet is a red flag already. Anyway, good job on asking before transferring ownership of the domain name.
2797  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question about rollback of the btc blockchain on: July 12, 2020, 02:50:55 PM
None.

I remember CZ proposed for a rollback when Binance was hacked but later retracted. AFAIK, the chances of that happening is close to zero. It's simply too costly to even try.

Paglilinaw lang, kailangan yung Binance card dyan. Noong April pa ito na-introduce - Introducing the Binance Card: Shop and Pay With Crypto Anywhere in the World

Quote
Introducing the Binance Card

The Binance Card does everything a regular payment card does, plus much more. It works like a regular debit card issued by your bank – which, in this case, is your Binance.com account. You simply top-up your card with funds through the Binance Card App in the form of Bitcoin or BNB, and you're ready to go. It's as simple as transferring BNB from one wallet to another. Your card will then use this balance for your card payments and automatically deduct all expenses from the balance every time you make payment. The Binance Card will be accepted by more than 46 million merchants offline and online in 200 regions and territories, which makes shopping with crypto easier than ever before.

Buying gifts for your loved ones, shopping for groceries, or paying your internet bill online? The Binance Card does it all. No longer will you need to sell your crypto to pay bills. With the Binance Card, you can keep HODLing, and spend only what you need to make a payment.

The Binance Card is currently available as a virtual card in a Beta version, with a physical card coming shortly.

Where do I get my Binance Card?

We’re currently releasing the Binance Card in a beta version, and we aim to make it available globally to all new and existing Binance users within the next few weeks.

You can register interest in Binance Card through the landing page, and we will notify you once the card becomes available in your region. All you need to do then is download the Binance Card App, log in to your Binance account or register a new one, and complete simple and secure identity verification. Then you can order the card for a one-time cost of 15 USD, which is payable in the form of initial top-up from your crypto wallet to the Binance Card balance. You just transfer 15 USD worth of BNB or BTC to your card balance, and we'll process your order. We don't charge any monthly or annual fees.

How do I use the card once it arrives?

All you need to use and control your card comes within the interface of one app. The Binance Card App allows you to manage your funds, card security, and spending with only a few taps. Once your new card arrives, you need to load it with funds. Just transfer Bitcoin or BNB from your Binance.com wallet to the Binance Card wallet, and you're ready to go.

Yung 46 million merchants in 200 regions accepting payment thru Binance card remains to be seen.
