2821  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TRON 4.0: Boom or Bust? on: July 04, 2020, 05:49:15 AM
~ If TRON 4.0 successfully launches, it could become another "blow" to the Ethereum blockchain. Or is it?

Do you think that the newly-anticipated release of the TRON blockchain is full of hype? If not, why? Knowing how many "Ethereum Killers" have emerged over time without any success so far, I think that TRON will just be another "nail in the coffin".

What are your thoughts Huh
Tron has always been about hype. Remember that time when they first released their plagiarized whitepaper? It's amazing how some people still patronized that project and I can think of great marketing as the only reason.

Despite the faster block time, cheaper fees, or more private transactions, I still don't think they can overtake Ethereum. They can have all advance features but all the anomalies surrounding Justin pushes people away. What happened to Steem and how he blocked the hardfork with his buddy CZ will never be forgotten imo.

Maybe they will continue to dominate the gambling dapps with thos new upgrade but eth will remain the king of dapps.
2822  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Electrum 4.0.1 Release on: July 04, 2020, 04:21:52 AM
2823  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Yes, there is a strip club that accepts bitcoin. on: July 02, 2020, 06:50:42 AM
I think you need to be a very strange guy to pay with bitcoin in this kind of club. In essence, you will announce "I have a Bitcoin wallet with me."

To do this, there is this sticker or not, you all will be at risk.
Any criminal elements of the club can try to get your bitcoins, one way or another. I would prefer to withdraw bitcoin in another way, and pay the strippers cash.
When going to a strip club, you are basically announcing that you have the funds to spend there. Any criminal will try to steal your funds and it doesn't matter if it's in fiat or in bitcoin.

Another thing, it's just common sense to use a separate wallet for your expenditures. The rest should be in another secure wallet for safekeeping. I don't think anyone would be stupid enough to bring a larger amount with them while going to a leisure place.
2824  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Warning: SEC issued a warning against FORSAGE! on: July 01, 2020, 06:26:25 AM

2827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beware of fake gold backed tokens on: July 01, 2020, 01:35:18 AM
~
Would you trust tether more if it's decentralized? Been centralized is more like having someone or something to blame but decentralized is off the hook, what makes decentralized better? It's still all down to lack of proof
When someone lies about their "assets", centralized or decentralized is irrelevant. Why would you even put that up when I didn't even mention it? Aren't you going off-topic here?
2828  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beware of fake gold backed tokens on: June 30, 2020, 08:04:47 AM
~ The only way I can trust a token that's backed by real gold is if the project is from a gold company, verified and certified, I'm talking about well known real gold companies like
1. Kinross Gold
2. GoldCorp
3. Agnico-eagle mines  e.t.c
You seem to be knowledgeable on this matter. What do you think about DIGITAL GOLD LTD which issues GOLD token?
https://gold.storage/en/home

One reason why we see a lot of "backed by _____" tokens is that there are people who would believe and use them despite the lack of assets to back up the token. The best example I can give is the USDT. They've been caught lying about the USD reserves they have to back all the tether in circulation and yet there are people who use them.

It doesn't really matter if it's gold, diamond, gem, fiat, or whatever. As long as there are people who will be fooled, scam operators will continue to exist.
2829  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: CoinmarketCal is now a paid group shill on: June 30, 2020, 06:28:21 AM
Why do I pay to get  get updated with upcoming cryptocurrency events? Did I miss anything or do events affect price and lead to daily changes?
I will stay away from them as soon as I know they are a paid service. Getting this data is not difficult to pay for them and they can request donations if I feel the channel is useful.
I stay away from all the channels that offer such updates, and I only subscribe to the channels after I know all the participants.
Don't misunderstand. They are not charging you anything for subscribing to their channel and for receiving crypto events/updates. What's shady is that they are also advertising another telegram group which sells crypto signals.

Announcements of events today doesn't affect the price of most altcoins but it's a different story back in 2017. Regardless of the effect on price, it is still good to follow such announcements to keep up with the progress especially if you are a long term investor.

I checked their channel again and searched for that sponsored post. It looks like it's been deleted.

2831  Local / Pamilihan / Re: PH Lending History/Summary (as of June 30, 2020) on: June 30, 2020, 04:39:55 AM
Table update:

As of this posting, tatlo dalawa na lang ang active loans.

Still waiting confirmation on this:
@finaleshot2016 & @cryptoaddictchie can any of you clarify kung magkano ang nabayad / natanggap dito? Is it BTC0.0013 or BTC0.013? Reading the comment, mukhang final payment na siya but the amount stated is kulang for full settlement. Ewan kung typo.

Per record, may balance pa dapat na BTC0.0089 as computed below:

Loan:        0.0190
Partial 1:  -0.0090
Partial 2:  -0.0011
Balance:    0.0089

EDIT: As confirmed by @cryptoaddictchie thru PM, the above loan has been fully settled.

2834  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: BDO - BPI - Wirecard $2.1 Billion Fraud Case on: June 28, 2020, 09:59:13 AM
Ehem ehem!

Mark Tolentino says he's been framed Grin
He said he was not aware na para pala sa Wirecard yung pera under his custody.

His statements:
Quote
It seemed that all fingers were pointing to me to be the thief and manipulator of the missing money, I want to clear my name.

I am a victim of identity theft and fake news and frame up,

So here's what was revealed so far:
  • BPI fired their assistant manager for signing a fake certificate of deposit
  • BDO fired a marketing officer for faking a bank certificate
  • Mark Tolentino opened six euro bank accounts under his law firm (MKT Law) on behalf of a Singapore-based company called Citadelle Corporate. He also said the accounts never had more than a few hundred euros in them.

Aside from BSP, the DOJ has also joined in the investigation of this case.

- Full story

Based on the above developments, kaya sinabi ng bangko na walang pumasok sa kanilang foreign deposits na worth $2.1 billion in total ay dahil:
1. Yung mga accounts ay under Citadelle Corporate

Did Citadelle Corporate paid 2 bank employess to issue/sign fake documents or was it MKT law who orchestrated all of this?
Ewan ko pero hintayin natin updates from DOJ on this matter.

Tony challenged Conor in his twitter and I think that would be far more interesting than Dustin vs Tony or Conor.
Even though, Dustin has more chances agains Tony than vs Conor. And Conor will be more interested to fight Tony than Dustin.
I'm quite confident Tony wouldn't mind fighting Dustin especially after this fight.

For Conor, he's more interested on who's going to be the bigger draw that will bring in more PPVs. I don't know if Tony still has that appeal after losing badly to Justin. He might need one convincing win before Conor faces him.
2836  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: June 28, 2020, 08:51:44 AM
Poirier vs. hooker was lit!

That round 2 exchanges seems like the entire five rounds to me. Hard to believe both were still standing after trading clean punches throughout that round although Poirier may have been saved by the bell. In the end, it's probably the experience of being an interim champ and having fought the likes of Khabib and Conor that helped him pull a narrow win (even if it's unanimous decision). Congrats to both fighters! What a great treat for fight fans.

Who's next?
Dustin vs. Tony?
Dustin vs. Conor (if he decides to come out of "retirement")?

Full results:

Quote
Dustin Poirier def. Dan Hooker via unanimous decision
Mike Perry def. Mickey Gall via unanimous decision
Maurice Greene def. Gian Villante via third-round submission (arm triangle choke)
Brendan Allen def. Kyle Daukaus via unanimous decision
Takashi Sato def. Jason Witt via first-round TKO (punches)
Julian Erosa def. Sean Woodson via third-round submission (D'Arce choke)
Khama Worthy def.Luis Pena via third-round submission (guillotine choke)
Tanner Boser def. Philipe Lins via first-round TKO (punches)
Kay Hansen def. Jinh Yu Frey via third-round submission (armbar)
Youssef Zalal def. Jordan Griffin via unanimous decision

Nice to see everyone on weight this time. I still find it awkward seeing them in masks during faceoffs  Grin

I'm gonna sit on this one. No particular pick but I would like Poirier to win.

I just found out that Alexander Gustaffson is coming back as a Heavyweight to face Fabricio Werdum on July 25. No wonder I saw a picture of him circulating in social media the other day and he looked out of shape.

2840  Local / Pamilihan / Re: UnionBank and Coins.ph on: June 26, 2020, 05:50:26 AM
I saw this post a while ago in Coindesk.
https://www.coindesk.com/ripple-affiliate-coins-ph-joins-new-remittance-network-reaching-unbanked-filipinos

Main points:
1. UnionBank launched 11,000 cash-out remittance counters sa Pilipinas
2. UnionBank extended its existing partnership with Coins.ph
3. Dragonpay and other local remittance firms, Cebuana Lhuillier, LBC, PeraHub and Palawan Express are also providing services for UnionBank’s new counter network.

So basically, makakapag-cash out na tayo from Unionbank to these remittance centers? Tama?
Converting to fiat: Crypto? -> UnionBank -> Remittance centers
Of course, we could just directly exchange it through Coins.ph and cash it out.  Grin
Sounds like UB will utilize the network of coinsph para mas mapalawak ang sakop nila dahil isa din naman itong money remittance platform.

Since from all other banks we have here in the Philippines, parang sila yung pinaka open-minded when it comes to blockchain tech and cryptocurrencies;
That appears to be the case.

Not to mention, meron pa yung PHX stable coin pa nila.

I'm asking this too because I've already read several complaints about those "other banks" na bigla-bigla na 'lang isinasara yung accounts dahil kuno may connection sa "cryptocurrencies".  Roll Eyes
Yeah, I read stories like this too but that was a long time ago. Kung hindi ako nagkakamali, it was during the time na wala pang malinaw na stance ang BSP pagdating sa mga crypto platforms na kagaya ng coinsph. IIRC, it was BDO who closed the bank accounts ng mga coinsph customers.
