Technical difficulties have us running just a bit behind. Will update with a new ETA soon.
...and we're back. Lots more to do, but the main functions from the old site should now be working on the new site. Let us know what you think!

Hi Oldminer,
Thank you for your kind words. We are working on a way to reduce our fees even further across the board, I know AU bank to bank is free except, we don't work like that with our Automation system and processing partners, and it's costing us $5 per transaction. In the way we are setup now there are legal reasons and benefits etc, as to why and how we have our banking setup. However we are hoping to get the fee much closer to what you mentioned even for our clients overseas and here locally, the more volume we do the lower our cost for each transfer will be.
Regards
Crypto X Change
Cheers, I also noticed spenbitcoins.com has raised their fee to transfer funds from $1 to $10!! So, looks like you might be the most viable option now for Aussie customers Also, had a look at your site and its quite impressive (once you login). Very nice, professional look about it. Looking forward to doing business with you. p.s Also noticed when trying to add a bank account that it insists on a Swift, Iban, or Routing code. Do I have to contact my bank to obtain this info and are all 3 required or just 1? Hi Oldtimer, Just FYI, as odd as it seems, the change from $1 to $10 was actually a part of LOWERING our rates. See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=40806.msg659814. Cryptoxchange is better and likely cheaper for normal trading, Spend Bitcoins is better for buying bitcoins (in Australia) in a more anonymous way at a set rate, receiving them same day.

Hi there, Can you please whitelist user jaychristopher? He's my brother and has just come on full-time as Spend Bitcoins' web developer & technical support. I'd like him to be able to ask questions on this site in case he ever needs help with any technical issues. Thanks, Jeremy West http://spendbitcoins.comSorry, forgot to ask him to make his username jaychristopher spendbitcoins.com. Can you please add spendbitcoins.com to the end of his username? Cheers! Jeremy

Thanks Jeremy,
Your prices are the best around right now. I can hold off on the purchase until the new site is ready if that means a more seamless process. Can you tell us if your relative prices will change on the new site? If its going to cost relatively more I will definitely order right now but if not I will wait.
Our prices for actually SPENDING bitcoins will remain relatively the same. Once we get our spending tool (will allow you to to skip our site and just spend directly on the site you are shopping on) ready (which will probably still be in development when we relaunch) then there will be a charge for merely ordering a gift code on our site (though still no charge for using the spending tool to actually SPEND on the site). Haven't hammered down what that charge will be, but it will be something.

That's a shame, I was just about to buy my amazon gift card but I can wait a week while you improve the site.
Go for it! We're still open for another 25 hours. Just to clarify, UTC is the date & time on the top right corner of this forum.

I won't suggest this in the Bitcoin 100 because it's probably too controversial for that project, but wouldn't erowid.org be the perfect site to accept bitcoins for donations? If you'd support the efforts of erowid.org, send them an email asking if they accept bitcoins! EDIT: DUh, on closer inspection, they already accept bitcoins! Send some their way... http://www.erowid.org/donations/donations_bitcoin.php

A man applying for the position of assassin at the CIA is told he must pass the following practical test:
"Your wife is in that room. Here is a gun. You have 3 minutes to go in and execute her."
He goes in and comes out distraught a few minutes later. "I thought I could do this, but clearly I can't. I couldn't kill her."
A few more applicants go through the same process, ending the same way.
Finally, a female applicant comes through. She is told the same thing, "Your husband is in the next room. Here's a gun, you have 3 minutes to go in and execute him."
She goes in. "Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang." Then "Crash, whack, whack, crash, crash, whack."
She comes out. "You didn't tell me the gun was loaded with blanks. I had to beat him to death with the chair."

"PayPal will charge you $0.30 + 2.9%" has your paypal policy changed ? no more free personal transfers i kinda saw that coming Yeah. They keep randomly only allowing credit card (with charge) payments or echeck (takes forever) payments and then I have to get back to the customer and ask whether they want one of these two options or a bitcoin refund. So, just to keep things consistent, I've decided to just go back to all payments being by credit card with PayPal's charge. I do apologize profusely for PayPal sucking.

EDIT: As this is the first google result for "spendbitcoins down?" I'm editing it to link to: http://spendbitcoins.com.au so people searching will hopefully find it. I have brought my brother, a graphic designer and web developer, on as a partner in the business and there are big changes coming.
As such, Spend Bitcoins will be down for one week for renovations from 0300 UTC 04 February 2012. When it relaunches at 0300 UTC 11 February 2012 it will be a much prettier site which is much easier to navigate and use. As I have not had a single day off since the original launch last May, I will be unreachable during this week, but will answer all emails ASAP after relaunch.
In the weeks following the relaunch, we will be rolling out features that allow you to spend bitcoins on sites that don't accept them without even coming to our site. We hope to make bitcoins just as easy (if not easier) to spend as any other payment method all over the web.

Just asking to make sure that I got this right:
If I select Paypal USD and I put my Paypal email address in the e-mail field, and the amount in USD that I want to receive (gross, incl. Paypal fees that i might get charged with), then ...
... By sending the specified BTC to the BTC address that I get from your page, the USD amount that I specified will be sent to my Paypal account.
Is that correct?
Sorry for sounding stupid, but it is not clear from the webpage, and since there's money involved, I don't want to mess it up.
Thanks.
You've got it exactly right. Our webpage will be updated to be much simpler within the next few weeks. Watch this space.

Jeremy, it's been like that for a few hours now, and not just on Gox - other exchanges too. Look at the overview page at recent last trades and you'll see many below the bid/ask spread.
Any idea why?
|
|
|
According to http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/mtgoxUSD_depth.html at the moment, there is a bid in for 1100 BTC at 6.29 each, and thousands more bitcoins on the way down to 5.74, where btc is currently trading on Mt Gox. So, is bitcoincharts pulling the data wrong, or is Mt Gox missing a bunch of orders when executing trades?
