looks like the load was lowered, but it is hashing slower with less accepted shares

Poolside

The hash went up poolside. Strange the way the pools are exaggerating the rates, such as BTC G is doing as well. I will work with the Queue values to get a reading on how it effects both GUI and poolside values. BTW philipma1957 I am sure you recognize the pool used here.

yeah i get 3-5% higher numbers on btcguild then the gui tells me I am getting.

Ahh the good doc h's pool
A little OT, but you guys have seen the news on BTCGuild, right? They may shut down thanks to NY's regulations. Read up on their site in the News and FAQ. Also, eleuthria is keeping this updated as his lawyer advises him: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=49417.msg8015578#msg8015578

Bitmain, could you please post the hash of the firmware on your site, so we know they are legit? It shows up when we flash but I have nothing to compare it to in order to ensure integrity of the file. Thanks!

Is it possible to combine the .075 and .0725 coupons for a batch 5 order?

Usually, one coupon per order with Bitmain.
People have said that you can use a coupon for each miner  - so if you have a c
Does anyone know where a guide is to setup remote access for these miners ?

No changes needed. Just configure port forwarding on your router.

thanks I ended up figuring it out!
you changed the root password on it I hope. Changing the port for SSH to something else other than 22 or 2222 would help minimize the brute force ssh attack scans.

AFox, did you file in Sweden? How long did the whole process take?

I had a lot of difficulty getting my S3's to join my pool however it seems that enabling DHCP from static ip or vice versa acts like a kick start…
Weird thing is I can't connect to my ELIGIUS pool but bitminter works fine:
Also check out the DNS server address Huh?
https://www.dropbox.com/s/b26t78i8524r1aw/Screenshot%202014-07-25%2013.05.14.jpg

I connect to Eligius fine on both my S3s (on newest firmware). Your DNS might be blocking you don't use 75.75.75.75, for DNS I just used 8.8.8.8 (Googles DNS)
Backup DNS of 8.8.4.4 in case it goes down for any reason.

The new Firmware is up https://www.bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=007201407180243004432lBQW28O0633
Quote "No beeper altert when there is no immediate hashing work. During the normal mining, Green LED is always on. If there is no immediate hashing work for 1 second, the Green LED will turn off. If it lasts more than 1 minute without hashing work, green LED is kept off and beeper rings"

Just flashed my two S3's with the new firmware.  No more beeping!  The fiancee will be most pleased!
Excellent news, thanks for the report!
Yay! Thanks for fixing this bitmain!
367  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 25, 2014, 01:53:42 AM
Shipping is included. I prefer DHL over UPS. You have a choice.

Just put down for two more on batch 5. I bet Bitmain is betting on another few rounds of low difficulty jumps to justify the slight decrease in price between batches. Judging by how much of the network they can control when they batch test, I'm going to bet the price is probably in line with expected network growth.

It all depends on how you calculate your ROI. If you have a bunch of equipment that's already paid for itself, you can choose to calculate that hash towards your most recent purchase and write off the hardware much sooner. Much easier to calculate any gains down the road that way.

...it also might involve a little bit of lying to yourself too, but trust me it's much more fun this way.

Are there special procedures for ordering? What am I missing here?
no, just order them and send bitmain the btc within 15 mins. Make sure your address is right so they can ship it to you. Simple, straightforward, and the product is awesome. I love these new units.

How safe is it to power one blade with a power supply while powering the other blade with another one?

From https://bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020140724130242972en240AMe064E it says "Don’t parallel connected different DC input from different PSU into the same Hashing board."

Does that mean different hashing boards are okay?
yes

Anyone else notice that a S3 seems to let out a beep when a block is found? I've noticed this on a couple of occasions, maybe it's just the pool I'm using.
beeps are startup, beeps at blocks, and beeps at lost connection to a pool (repeatedly). The last item can be turned off via the web menu. Significant others tend to get annoyed at the excessively loud beeps. Search the thread for a nice physical way to mute it somewhat.

Is it just me or does the units that actually handle OC seem be very good units, the 2 I've found so far takes 250Mhz without breaking a sweat Oo

How long have you had them at 250? Any increase in hw errors?
371  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 24, 2014, 04:57:48 PM
In the same boat. Hoping for the same outcome

This happens every time BM launches a new product, and always has.  It will sort out for everyone who paid, as it does every time.  If it's not automatically fixed in 24 hours, shoot BM an email with your order number and the TXID of your payment and they will manually fix it, although I've only seen someone need to do this once in thousands of orders.
Agreed. They always get it sorted so kick back a bit and don't worry about it.

The site is probably under stress right now from everyone hitting it and then refreshing like OCD idiots.

This was the address they used last time for orders coming in from bitpay. It was fascinating to watch them come in real time. https://blockchain.info/address/1QB8Ds5KbGYBLQa5RyDQ2sVUeSKWf7qgkZ?sort=0#

New sales will be open tonight 22:00 (UCT +8:00). The shipping date will be before the August 2nd. The price is 0.63 0.65 BTC per unit.

Coupons will be ready soon. Refund of B1~B3 is in process as well.

what is this time in usa eastern standard time?  Is it 10 am july 24th?

if so I am fucked  as I will not have internet access until 11am .
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=what+time+is+it+in+shenzhen

It is usually the same time AM/PM swapped in EST as it is in China. So now it is 9AM EST in US and it is 9PM in Shenzhen. If the above post is real then they go on sale in less than an hour. Happy hunting.

Re firmware flashing: it gives the checksum before flashing, but what I supposed to compare it to?
also, "image size 7.5mb (8.1 mb available)"-what is this supposed to mean?
The firmware hash should have a corresponding hash on their site. The two should match ensuring integrity. The 8.1mb available is the space available on the system disk. I ran a 'df -h' on the files system and this is what it showed 29M available in /tmp.

I've also been trying to track down how to turn off the system bell (beep) and haven't found anything. It's loud and annoying. I'll let you know when I find out how to disable it completely through software.

[I can agree 100% Pre-Order is dead, the plateau is on the horizon...
When people stop sending pre-order money then it will be dead. Until that time comes it will continue.

bitmain has gained greatly in value from yesterday up to today.  the sp30 is a bust.  no one knows had big of a bust yet but it is a bust.  the ceo the the company admitted so on the sp30 thread.

so will it hash at 4th and pull 2400 watts.

it is not going to do the promised 6th.

we also do not know what the efficiency will drop to.  .6 watts  .7 watts?

this means the s-3 has jumped up in value.  How big a jump depends on how bad the sp30 turns out to be.

As a s-3 owner this will also help with the diff.

Tell them to take their time and work it out for a few more months so we can ROI Smiley

One of the temps on my s3 is showing 248 which is keeping the fans at full speed. Otherwise it seems to be working. Anyone else have this problem?
248???  You might want to shut that unit down ASAP.  That is completely unsafe.  Your units should never be reporting anywhere near that high.

I'm sure its a faulty temp sensor....

Carefully touch the case, if its not hot enough to broil a chicken then its not 248C.
If it is could you send us some pics of you broiling a chicken on it? That'd be classic.

What are you baking in there? It should shut off at 80C. Both of mine are no higher than 41C. Either the temperature gauge is way off or you've got thermal paste spread all over it like peanut butter.

Got both units today and happily hashing on defaults at 450Gh/s for each unit. No issues at all.

Thank you, Bitmain. I am a very happy customer.

my ups is always coming after 6:30pm here. 2 more units expected today as well.
450 at the pool or in web gui?
It's settled to more like 440 and that is on the webui. Power draw is low, which is good. I got lucky and rushed home and was able to sign for it as soon as I walked in the door. I felt like a kid on Xmas which is a bit silly, but I love this stuff.

I'm going to let them burn in for a bit before I start mucking with frequencies or I may just let them be. They have no hardware errors on either box. Only 1 of my S1s was that lucky.
