361  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pay off DEBT by do Gambling? think again before you loss more on: January 31, 2024, 02:13:56 PM
This is the wildest thing one could ever think of. Imagine paying your debt with something that can potentially leave you into more debt. Well anyway, some people make it work to them, but this is not applicable to everybody. You're better off just doing it normally like having a job then paying off the debt with your salary, rather than take a chance and a huge risk without any certainty of getting anything back.
362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google Updates policy allowing bitcoin and crypto assets trust to be advertised. on: January 30, 2024, 11:49:50 PM
Google knows what they are doing when they openly allowed cryptocurrencies and related services to be advertised on their platform. Since the floodgates of ETFs were opened just a few weeks ago, they don't want to miss on the profits that these giants may give them through buying ad spaces on their search engine. It's a no brainer for them to allow these and scrap their old policy for money. As a giant advertising service, who wouldn't want to tap on that potential profits?  Grin
363  Economy / Economics / Re: Tech Layoffs on: January 30, 2024, 11:04:28 PM
It may partly be due to AI, but no one can really replace human workers when it comes to logic and problem solving. Sure, AIs can do a lot of specialized tasks more efficiently and timely, but hurdles along the way are only solved by humans with enough experience in the field. AI is still in its infancy, and I don't think that's the reason for the job cuts in the tech industry. They may have just overestimated their needs at a given time in order to stay profitable, and found out that they can make do without X percent of the workforce and still produce the same results for more profits.
364  Other / Off-topic / Re: Before you start gambling, do some research first on: January 30, 2024, 10:08:58 PM
It's good to have a source of income at first before you start gambling but I want to talk about this even more, do you know that even with your source of income you might be at one spot and not move forward?

No progression means you are no different from someone who have no source of income, I know someone who work so hard, I mean the hard jobs, that I can't even do, but at the end of the month when he gets paid he always waste everything on gambling, as if something told him that gambling is the way in this world for him.

He can't stop this, he can't help it, he is addicted to this way, I knew this after he start going around asking for things that he should be able to afford as a worker, he confessed that he lost money at first but the same thing kept happening for months and I find out that he is risking all his salary on gambling.

Is there anyway to help this person? I have given some advice to start using small percentage of the whole salary and safe the rest but still couldn't, and I don't want to help him to hold his money for him, he is over 28 years old, not a underage.

He have gotten used to this way because he started gambling all by himself and he won some money but end up even fuelling his addiction. What is next? Any tip?

He's probably too far gone right now, but there's still something you can do to save him. Mere words will no longer help the guy, but being consistent about your advices will. He probably knows that he's losing a lot of money and it's affecting his quality of life. Let him feel that he's missing out on a lot of things because he's spending money on gambling while at the same time, keeping empathic with him. Dude has hit rock bottom, and will eventually want to get out of it when he sees that everyone around him is doing well all while doing the same things as he does.
365  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: You can not win if you do not risk on: January 30, 2024, 08:29:34 PM
Risking something without getting smart about it is just risking for nothing. Lots of gamblers take the risk and not get any rewards because they are not smart on how they manage their bankroll or how they control their money. Risking something isn't enough in gambling, you must also be strategic in order to get the wins or even just minimize the losses. If you took some risks but bet blindly and hastily, you will never get something back and worst, lose more than what you can afford in the long run.
366  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Confusion About Insider Gambling on: January 30, 2024, 06:28:42 PM
The information that you're referring to becomes available after a certain period of time. Insider information gets you ahead of everyone else, prompting you to place bets right even before the odds swing the other direction. Some coaches, players, or managers take advantage of this to make some quick buck, but it's unethical to do so and they could get penalized pretty heavily by the team that they're working for and that's a huge blow to them personally.
367  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To any Bitcoin holder who lost their seed: How did you lose it? on: January 29, 2024, 11:55:07 PM
My very first wallet with around 0.02 BTC in it was lost when I damaged my phone and the only backup I had was in a pen drive that was lost in a house clean up. I could potentially recover it if I have it stored somewhere but unfortunately there's just no way to recover from it. It wasn't much back in 2015 but that's already a couple hundred or thousand dollars now, and could be added to my stash for long term storage.

Pro tip: always have multiple back ups and don't end up like me.
368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Do People Steal Hundreds of Millions in BTC And Still Get Caught? on: January 29, 2024, 11:36:10 PM
These guys know how to infiltrate but not to hide their tracks. They also become too complacent that they'll never get caught because they even got inside of these systems and took something out. These thieves are most certainly wanting to still be a part of the life they lived before they got rich through stealing, and because of that they get caught most of the time.
369  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are every activities/competitions with stake known to be gambling? on: January 29, 2024, 10:46:15 PM
Well you could say that. Since you are staking something to receive something, you are essentially 'gambling' to make sure that your staked amount isn't lost at all. If there isn't anything that can be lost to whatever you'll be doing, then I wouldn't call it as gambling but rather as free money, though of course that doesn't happen at all Grin
370  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jamie Dimon "Satoshi will come back and erase bitcoin" on: January 28, 2024, 11:46:44 PM
I don't know if this man realizes that at the time we get to 21 million coins mined, it would be 2140, which is more than 100 years from now. It's a shame that people like this are able to amass a huge amount of fortune and wield a lot of power while also being a total idiot when it comes to common sense. Dude's just out here trying to spread doom and gloom to everyone while actively being a fraud to the banking industry.
371  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Island in the Philippines, Have you ever been there? on: January 28, 2024, 02:39:02 PM
I was there just a few weeks ago and tbh, it's not appealing to pay in bitcoins when there are other viable and rather cheaper options to pay for your drinks like credit cards or those financial apps they have (Gcash, Maya). Also, it's a hassle to pay for something with bitcoin that you need to consume immediately, e.g. cocktails or any other goodies. They will have to wait 1 confirmation before they mark the sale as complete, plus the fact that you as the buyer will need to shoulder the fees.

It's good that the island is being marketed like that, but I don't think this will get traction in the long run.
372  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: January 28, 2024, 01:06:31 PM
]I'm rooting for Ginebra to win this game 3 so that this series will be extended but as of now, the Beermen is leading 8 points, hope the Kings will come back and win this game just like what Phoenix did in the first game.

It looks good until Malonzo got injured, and it looks like he is not coming back anymore. But there's still time though, so good luck with your bet mate.
They are in the last quarter now, they need win that quarter in order to extend the series.

San Miguel just won this series and will proceed to the finals. It's something that I expected but not Ginebra never posting a single point in the run. I also rooted for Ginebra but man, their defense is so bad and their rotations are just read by SMB like a book. 94-91 is as close as it gets, but I felt like Ginebra could have snatched the win there if they mixed things up and played more offensively.
373  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is addiction bad only when it is a problem? on: January 28, 2024, 12:57:53 PM
Anything that's too much is bad, whether it causes a problem or not. That is why moderation is the key to anything, and just because one isn't losing money to anything doesn't mean they aren't causing problems. Their time is probably something that is the most affected of these all because it takes a lot of it to gamble that religiously.

Addicts not losing money are losing something in the process that they are completely oblivious about, and that's something worth pondering IMO.
374  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hey Gamblers, Here's Some Questions for you. Would Love your Responses on them on: January 28, 2024, 12:19:54 PM
1. I find all my information regarding crypto-related information on bitcointalk first, and Google second. I never trusted Reddit in getting some new information related to cryptocurrencies since a lot of people in there cant differentiate sarcasm from reality.

2. I don't quite understand the question.

3. I guess I won't. I'll let them decide which websites would they like to get their information from. There's a lot of resources out there, and it's up to them to learn the different natures of these sources of information.

4. Some are already trying to adopt these practices slowly. Of course. They wouldn't go full blown on such practices, but it's good that they are at least trying to introduce it on the crypto gambling industry.
375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how wasabi, electrum, exodus ... make money ? on: January 25, 2024, 11:29:14 PM
Donations and tips from generous users who have been supporting their work. Most of these are just open-source projects that great devs partake in and improve on their free time. I'm pretty sure all of the devs involved in supporting these wallet applications have main jobs to support them financially, and knowing how well they coded these applications, they have jobs that pay them well to allot some time for these said wallets.

Electrum has been around for over 10 years. During those years, lots of people have donated tens if not hundreds of bitcoins to the team. Just imagine how much money is that now.
376  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESports betting -CS:GO, DOTA 2, LOL, Valorant - Sportsbet.io discussion thread on: January 25, 2024, 11:06:25 PM
For Dota , the prize money on this one is big in my opinion as 1st place takes home 300k but also a direct invite to Esports World Cup

Kinda wondering where do you get this from because liquipedia doesnt list it

Its great though if there is going to be an Esports World Cup or something huge like that. Heck yeah even another Riyadh Master would be wonderful as currently dota2 pro scene is pretty dry with only ESL and Betboom that sponsors most of the tournament. Tournaments hosted by Betboom are targeting audience from EEU region so yeah anything with larger scope would be great

Riyadh Masters and Animajors would be a great improvement to the content that we're receiving from ESL and Betboom. These guys know how to produce a good tournament. They could improve the tournament format by a bit, but entertainment and quality wise, they are miles ahead. There's just not enough games or tournaments going around at this point that it's hard to look at the dota scene. Most are just minor tournaments with a lot of unmotivated teams joining for the sake of the prize money.
377  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin an opportunity like land on: January 25, 2024, 09:57:09 PM
And the situations between both of these assets are almost the same. Land developers are buying huge plots of land and the available residential plots to buy are getting scarce, and huge financial companies are buying bitcoin making it more expensive for the average Joe to acquire one. Those who managed to buy a few bitcoins a few years back are benefiting from the bulk buying huge companies are doing in bitcoin. It truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I'm lucky to be able to keep some while the prices are still relatively mild compared to what it is right now.
378  Economy / Economics / Re: The productive capacities of an individual to the society. on: January 25, 2024, 09:45:29 PM
That's a mouthful with a lot of flowery words, but all you're trying to say is that an individual must have 'something' to offer to the society in order for them to be considered as productive. Most are just getting jobs, paying taxes, and live without offering anything valuable to the society and they're still considered 'productive' through their task. You don't have to offer something special, really. Just work, pay taxes, pay bills, buy your needs/wants, and you are deemed productive.
379  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can a social or casual good guesser make better gambling prediction carrier? on: January 25, 2024, 06:53:40 PM
Placing bets just by guessing without a strong enough basis or without carrying out an in-depth analysis, is not a wise strategy if carried out in the long term. Although it is true that luck can play a role in the betting activities you do, and by relying solely on guessing without a clear basis, this can lead to uncontrollable losses. And it's possible that you will lose control when placing a bet.

So to prevent a loss, we try to bet as wisely as possible, because after all betting involves quite high financial risks. So at least we have to have fairly good risk management, as well as understanding odds, learn how odds work in various types of bets. Understanding the odds can help us make informed bets.

And to be able to increase the chances of winning, we must at least be able to combine luck with smart analysis and good strategy.

Some lucky bettors might be able to predict a game or two, but if they take gambling seriously, eventually they'll find out that analysis of available data and using it for their next bets will work more. I know a friend who casually bets on games that he likes, and he gets them most of the time. But due to the belief that he's good at predicting games albeit not knowing anything about the team or sport, he tried his hand in Korean baseball and lost a considerable portion of his profits because he just goes to the odds and do nothing else before locking his bet.
380  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sports betting arbitrage on: January 25, 2024, 04:34:17 PM
If done correctly, arbitrage can be quite profitable because you only need to use several gambling sites with different odds and of course there will be more bets and more capital.
Most of those who use this method are experienced gamblers because they want to increase their chances of winning.
If we can properly understand Arbitrage betting then the opportunity to make money can be more guaranteed and of course losses will be smaller.
It just that not all gamblers like this method, the reason is because they have to use more money.

So basically I need two accounts with funded accounts to do sports arbitrate. I really curious about this is there any tutorial video about it?

Yes, though be warned that casinos regularly check for behaviors relating to fraud and arbitrage so it's hard to really achieve this in this day and age unless you have friends whom you can trust holding your money and placing bets for you. There are tons of videos on YouTube explaining how arbitrage can be achieved, although since those instructions/tutorials are out in the open, pretty sure the casinos already know how to spot possible arbitrage bettors.
