3621  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Tutorial] How To Mix bitcoin free on: October 11, 2022, 09:54:36 PM
How do you successfully access Chipmixer with Brave browser?
Can't you see a little icon showing up in right side of address bar in Brave browser?
You click on that icon and new Tor window opens up with Chipmixer or any other onion website.
However, I said before that I am not recommending that to be used as Tor daily driver.

And on technical level, Brave still create unique browser fingerprint which could be used to track user.
I think you might be wrong about that, and you need to do more research about this, because brave is randomizing fingerprints each time.
I am not sure how this works on their Tor window, and I am not endorsing Brave browser in any way, just correcting what you said.
3622  Other / Meta / Re: [Script] BitcoinTalk User Notes on: October 11, 2022, 09:08:39 PM
As always, you can get the updated version in the OP.
Thanks for update once again Wink
TryNinja what do you think about uploading the script on greasyfork.org or some other alternative website?
This would provide more exposure and I think script would be updated automatically from browser extension.
3623  Other / Off-topic / Re: Asking on behalf of a friend on: October 11, 2022, 08:34:25 PM
My friend have two android phones and he plan to reformat one and use the phone for storing coins only, no browsing or running any email account on the phone, the phone has latest android version and it has fingerprint and face recognition locks, I don't know if this is still a fair plan or makes no difference.
I would not use Android phone for storing any large amount of coins, but he can use it in combination with hardware wallets and that would be acceptable.
If we want's to use smartphone for pocket money than I suggest he should degoogle his phone if possible and install open source os like Graphene, Calyx, Divest or LineageOS.
He should be very careful what he installs on his phone and he should keep only minimal amount of apps he needs without any bloatware.
Remember that it's not easy to hide IP address with phones (even with VPN) so he should be aware of that when doing any transactions.

3625  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: PIN codes and Hardware Wallets on: October 11, 2022, 09:42:38 AM
Why not? Passphrase just add an extra security. I don't see downsides. It is designed specifically for physical attacks.
I never said I am against passphrases at all, I just don't like how ledger is connecting them with PIN codes.
There is a big difference between this two (PIN vs Passphrase) so I don't want to mix them together, and yes I know Trezor have passphrase option like most other hardware wallets.
People often think that Password is the same as Pin or as Passphrase, but that can only create confusion.

Hi. I added my Bitcointalk profile link to the bottom of the spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-8DLbhxtOcDEBPl8-IAGWaoyx1H02JSz9hADCgAGyCo/edit#gid=0.
Confirmed ownership!
I am glad to see you joined Bitcointalk forum Smiley

Thanks for the suggestion regarding the consecutive posts.
Don't mention it.
You are free to use some of my posts and topics I wrote related with hardware wallets, especially this one that containds exact models of Secure Elements and Microcontrollers used in Hardware Wallets:

3627  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano X and Nano S Plus with free shipping on: October 11, 2022, 09:21:41 AM
Ledger started a one-week discount campaign where you can get free shipping on your Nano S Plus or Nano X purchases starting today.
The offer is valid until 17 October and doesn't require the entry of a discount code during checkout.
I wouldn't buy that ledger nono X crap even if they pay me to use it, and as for model S plus you could just buy in local reseller with almost identical price, and you won't have to wait for delivery package to arrive.
For example, ledger S plus on official website is 599,00 HRK (80€), but you can find it right now in Croatia with official reseller links.hr for 649,00 HRK (86€) and you can pay with cash.
I am sure you could find similar examples in many other countries and they sell this garbage even in bestbuy stores, so you won't have to leak your data (again).
Not that I would waste any money on this closed source devices, but I was speaking hypothetically.

This seems like a strange offer considering they have official stores on sites like amazon and are able to offer free delivery via them (unless there's an additional price factored in somewhere that covers delivery from them to a distribution place).
Just send them your address and all personal information, I am sure everything will be fine and ''protected'' in their village garage servers.  Cheesy

3628  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Choosing my first hardware wallet, have some questions. on: October 10, 2022, 07:52:26 PM
1. You didn't answer: What profit/benefits am I supposed to get from lie about having purchased BitBox02? Why would someone lie about that?
You are the one who is avoiding to answer, and I asked you a question first.
Your ''benefit'' is that you are writing bunch of posts and topics about this topic, probably wanting to get some merits and increase post count.

It's not that easy to post an image here, one needs to upload it on 3-d party hosting, and register there before doing this. And all those efforts just to prove you
BULLSHIT!  No need for any account's and it take few seconds to upload image on imgur or imgbb, but you can't upload something you don't have.
I am putting you on ignore, and I consider you are a liar until you prove otherwise.
Not going to reply to you anymore until I see some proof.
3629  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Choosing my first hardware wallet, have some questions. on: October 10, 2022, 07:23:05 PM
Why do you need a proof that I purchased BitBox?
Do you suspect that it is not true?
But what profit can I get from lie about this?
Let's say that I have a hunch, and I learned to be very suspicious in forum.
I honestly suspect you didn't purchase BitBox hardware wallet, but you could easily prove me wrong with a simple picture like I suggested. Wink
You could even make a small review and impressions about your alleged hardware wallet, so this can even be beneficial for you in the end.
3630  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Indiegogo launch - help us! :o on: October 10, 2022, 06:55:32 PM
You can find the list of compatible Android and iOS smartphones on the faq
I was not talking about smartphone models, but about actual version of Android operating system supported Smiley
Latest version of Android is 13, but is cryptoplatz supported for older Android OS 4 or 5?
Reason I ask this is because I have some ancient Android smartphone I could use for this purpose.
3631  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Choosing my first hardware wallet, have some questions. on: October 10, 2022, 06:46:20 PM
Mine is Multi Edition.
...
Why is it good to convert it into Bitcoin-only?
Oh really, so you are telling me that you purchased Bitbox hardware wallet?
Would you be so kind of taking a picture with this device next to the paper with today date and your username written?
You don't have to reveal any other personal information, images or wallet address, just device + paper with date/username, and tell us your impressions.
Thank you.

If you are using shitcoins you obviously won't install Bitcoin-only firmware, but that makes code much bigger and with much more potential bugs and exploits.
I didn't hear a single case of someone losing coins for installing multi-coin firmware, but it's always possible to happen in future.
Smaller compact code = less potential bugs and exploits.

I am the author of the article. I didn't know someone already posted it here !!!
And you probably saw traffic coming from Bitcointalk and you registered after that.
It's not that I trust you or don't trust you, but maybe you could edit the original blog article (or spreadsheet) and add your bitcointalk forum profile link (or forum post link), that would prove that you are the original author Maxi Rosson.
And please try not to write many consecutive forum posts in short span of time, that is against forum rules Wink
3634  Other / Archival / Re: [BIG LIST] Hardware wallets (80+) on: October 10, 2022, 06:26:55 PM
Wow. There are more wallets I could imagine. Shocked
Oh you didn't see nothing, as this topic is not freshly update like our local topic maintained by our member Fatfork Smiley
You could find there all possible hardware wallets ever created (more than here), and you could use machine translation for english language, or ask there if you want some clarification.
You can even find few short reviews about newer hardware wallets made by me (in my free time):
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5285324.0

I wrote an article comparing the 26 most popular Hardware Wallets, comparing them feature by feature:
Nice work.
I saw it few days ago and I think it was done good, but some things could be improved and mistakes corrected.
If you are the original author of that blog and spreadsheet, than welcome to Bitcointalk forum Smiley
3635  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: PIN codes and Hardware Wallets on: October 10, 2022, 06:20:01 PM
The Trezor T Hardware wallet device has the capability to encrypt the PIN and the SEED.  I use that feature with my Trezors.
I think that ledger devices are also encrypting PIN's, but I am not sure about all other hardware wallets.
There could be a problem with losing access to your funds if you forget encryption password so I would be very careful with this.

Looking through the list above, I have an idea that only Ledger has the most adequate number of attempts to enter a PIN (although it's not ideal).
I would disagree.
Less is not better, especially compared to all other hardware wallets.
There is a good reason why everyone else (except ledger crap) made much more wrong attempts for PIN, some can even brick a device.

Since your topic is about PIN codes in general, I will suggest that you add a session about "multiple PIN codes". Some hardware wallets allow you to use multiple PIN codes when you add a passphrase. This is interesting because you can have 2 wallets in the same device, and even a "hidden" one in case of a physical attack.
As far as I know only ledger is using multiple PIN's, but I think they are mixing and connecting this with wallet passphrase, and I don't like this very much.
3636  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Why not to buy inexpensive "exotic" open source hardware wallets? on: October 10, 2022, 06:08:12 PM
Many of them look beautifully with great looking design, some are thin, some of them have large touch screen...Offering 24/7 support. All that promises convenience, smooth ride and also aesthetics and ergonomics.
All this things you mentioned are not important at all, unless you like to have hardware wallets as collection units.

The question is: where is the catch?
Why are they less popular than say Trezor or ColdCard which are more expensive, less convenient and not very beautifully designed?
There is no catch.
Trezor is the first ever hardware wallet, it is open source and people trust their code, plus they are the only one actually working and improving Bitcoin code.
Ledger on the other hand collected a bunch of money from various investors and they spend a ton on advertising marketing , that is probably why they sold most devices.
I would never buy closed source device like ledger, and some of their devices like model nono X are worst piece of crap ever, and ledger is focused only only of shitcoins.

For example, if you guys were choosing a new wallet now, and came to a shop where all open source hardware wallets are represented, would you purchase an inexpensive convenient beautiful "exotic" wallet? Or would you purchase one of the same wallets you used to consider, like Trezor/Coldcard/Bitbox02 ? Why?
My number one choice would be Passport batch2 by Foundation Devices.
Keystone, Botbox and Trezor and next on the line, but I also like making my own signing devices with Raspberry Pi Zero and ESP32 devices, as SeedSigner and Krux.

Here we go again  Roll Eyes

@ETFbitcoin @bitmover @joniboini @Husires and all others I didn't mention, please stop replying to all the topics and posts made by this member jerry0.
This guys repeats the same questions all the time, and you are only supporting his crazyness with your answers.
I don't want to explain why this is bad for everyone in forum, and I think you can find better ways to write your posts.
Thanks for understanding, and if you can please ignore member jerry0.

3638  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Indiegogo launch - help us! :o on: October 10, 2022, 04:42:36 PM
For now our app is only for iOS and Android, but soon we will have a version for desktop. So you can use any NFC reader/writer to connect on your desktop.
n0nce has a point, people don't want to be online at all when they are dealing with their seed words.
Device with CryptoPlatz app needs to be online to download and install it, so desktop app is must have option for everyone.
Airplane mode but most people could make a mistake and just used app online.

Can you tell me what android version is oldest supported by your app?
Older phones might not be able to install app so that could be one more issue I faced before with other Android apps.
3639  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GrapheneOS BTC donations for Pixel7 on: October 10, 2022, 03:35:57 PM
I own one (3 XL) in fact, and camera is good ngl but RAM management is horrendous af. Just switch to another app for several seconds and the previous one gets killed.
Sure Pixel phones has issues, but show me any other phone that can smoothly run open source operating system, be degoogled with Graphene that supports and uses Bitcoin.
I wouldn't use any phone as a daily driver if support was dropped, but Pixel is giving four or five years of support, and that is very good thing.
If you don't mind being spied all the time with other phones, than by all means use what you want.

Don't want to derail this thread, but for me QC is the issue. Took me 2 returns before I got a 4a that didn't have screen issues and the 6 came new in a box with a battery showing a problem. There is NO way they did any checking on them before shipment. Not saying other brands don't have issues, but lets just say the phone I have now is not a Pixel.....
It's true that Pixel 6 had issues with battery and stupid slow charger, but they fixed most of this things with software update in Android13, and from early reports Pixel 7 battery is much much better.
You probably use iPhone now like most of the people and maybe it works better for you with better battery, but it's total privacy nightmare and it's closed source, so no thank you.  Tongue

I am going to test Graphene on the 4a since I still have it as a spare, I actually sold the 6 at a large loss and was happy to get away from it.
It's very easy, following web installer on their website, and Pixel 4a is still supported.

A bit shame Graphene is only for the Pixels, from what I've read they're not the only ones with clean Android (iirc Moto also has clean Andro and it's much more affordable).
There are alternative options for other phones like Divest OS or LineageOS, but they are way inferior compared to GrapheneOS.
Pixel phone are used for a good reason (you can read more about that on Graphene website), it's one of the best phones for security because of their secure element and long security updates.
CalyxOS is alternative for GrapheneOS that also supports Pixel phones, and they accept Bitcoin donations.
3640  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Switch: Turn things on with Bitcoin on: October 10, 2022, 03:14:44 PM
Here's an interesting project I found that makes it easy to accept bitcoin through lightning on any ESP32 microcontroller.
Cool stuff and I know about this guy Ben Arc from LNbits very well, he made a bunch of Bitcoin related things based on cheap ESP32 devices.
He made hardware wallet signing device Bowser I wrote before, and I also wrote about his LNURLPoS device that is using Lightning Network, and about his cheap offline ATM machine.
He is going to be a speaker in upcoming El Salvador Adoption conference, so that is worth checking out.

One drawback is the energy consumption. Paying your own lamp per hour is fun, but paying for the lamp to be off sucks.
C'mon man... just pull off the lamp electric plug from wall socket  Grin
