2841  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: DIY Bowser Hardware Wallet on: January 03, 2023, 01:49:04 PM
I think the Bowser wallet is a neat project, but should only store small amounts of bitcoin, if any. Have you tried flashing the AWS one? I don't think it works
No I didn't and sadly I don't have AWS M5Stack device to test it out.
Bowser is just a fun little project and there are much better DIY devices that exist today, like SeedSigner, Krux and other stuff made with RapsberryPi Zero devices and Trezor code.
I am following all open source hardware wallets and signing devices that exist in one of my topic, so anything new and interesting that comes out will be posted there:

2842  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware Wallets - Ledger vs Trezor, Other recommendations? on: January 03, 2023, 01:43:50 PM
Anyone used a Ledger Nano-S-Plus before?  I just rage threw it accross the room... 4 attempts to use a phrase I made via dice then 20 pin invalids and I smashed it...  This device is a massive pain in the ass I wouldn't recommend...
You basically compared apples and oranges, and I think you are writing nonsense after you came back to forum after long period of inactivity.
It's not that I like ledger hardware wallets, but blaming ledger wallet for not accepting seed words you generated who knows how is ridiculous, and why didn't you do the same thing importing them to Trezor?
It's better to explain how exactly you generated seed words with dices.

One bonus question for you spazzdla:
- Can you please prove ownership for any of your address posted in forum before?
2843  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Old phone as cold storage? on: January 03, 2023, 01:31:03 PM
I don't think a mobile phone will ever be considered good cold storage, ever. The issue is that unlike an old laptop which you can take apart and remove the BlueTooth/Wifi chips, you cannot do this to a mobile phone.
This is true for most smartphones but there are certain modular models like Fairphone and you can open them very easy and replace or remove almost anything you want.
After removing antenna and all the other things you don't need (maybe microphone) you could also put phone in airplane mode just to be sure.
I would never buy and use Iphone as cold storage, but there are phones with secure storage and some people are working on fully open source phones.
It's not my first choice to use phones as scold storage, but it's possible to do it.
2844  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Sparrow and Electrum export related question - private keys accessible? on: January 03, 2023, 01:22:09 PM
I just got spooked it still does display some private keys. So are these keys legit or just some private keys needed in part of the software seed to make the whole scheme work?
This is just partial keys and you need other parts in your setup to make it complete.
You can test multisig setup with bitcoin testnet coins and you don't have to waste any transactional fees using real Bitcoin.
There could be some issue with hardware wallets you used, because some of them like ledger and trezor don't have very good implementation for multisig, or it's incomplete and not totally safe.
2845  Other / Archival / Re: [banned mixer] | Best Bitcoin Mixer | Low fees | Fully automated on: January 03, 2023, 01:06:48 PM
Does YoMix by any chance have any connection with shady exchange Yobit, because they have very similar domain name?
I see that main IP address for YoMix is located in Russia, that is the same location for Yobit exchange, and I saw there are more connections with links used by sberbank

One more interesting thing I saw on their website is that Yomix that you can't be identified that you used mixer if you use clean new address, and that you are safe.
I am not sure how exactly can they say something like this.

2846  Economy / Reputation / Re: 'Bitcointalk forum is going downhill because of dkbit98' - CoinPayCard.net on: January 03, 2023, 10:40:00 AM
That doesn't sound like you're following Coinbase's compliance at all.
Don't worry, I am sure some legendary members who are supporting them (like he confirmed) are going to tell them what to say next time Cheesy
Now they created new third topic in Services for their scheme service and this time it's self-moderated, some members are even glad because of that...
If or when this thing turns out to be scam and people lose money I will personally take all those members who openly or secretly supported them responsible.

New accusation against me is that I am somehow censoring and deleting his posts to hide something.
Because he obviously doesn't understand English language and meaning for word consecutive, I would suggest him to go back in school or open a dictionary and use better translation machine next time.
Creating duplicate topics is also breaking forum rules.

2847  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware wallets vs paper wallets on: January 02, 2023, 07:10:11 PM
So, how can a hardware wallet be a better option than a paper wallet?
With hardware wallets you can generate multiple addresses, send coins quickly, make additional passphrases, create multisig setup, etc.
Paper wallets are still usable but they are used much less nowadays, there is nothing wrong if you use both of this options.

I know, that a simple piece of paper can be damaged or lost, but, apart from that, how can it be hacked ?
You obviously can't hack paper, but someone can find them, duplicate or take picture of them and steal your coins.
Paper wallets are lately used a lot in scamming people, there was many reported cases in Australia, scammers tricked people in thinking they found free bitcoins.
This means that paper wallets have been used to make phishing attacks with success.

Alternatively, I could save the keys on 2-3 usb sticks and then protect the usb sticks, in order to avoid every point of paper failure (i.e ink stains, water etc). Isn't that extremely safe ? Am I missing something here ?
USB sticks are worse than paper, and I prefer keeping backups in physical form, not in digital.
2848  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to create a watch only address on: January 02, 2023, 07:03:29 PM
So here is the scenario, I have an Electrum wallet on my laptop. Now i want to download electrum (or any other wallet on my android phone) and setup a watch only wallet on my phone.
The reason is that since i carry my mobile always with me, i do not want seed to be stored in my phone, A watch only wallet will help me see my funds and in case of a phone lost, my bitcoins will not be at risk.
If you are only monitoring one address than you don't need to install any app, just use browser explorer and bookmark page with your btc address.
Best way would be to connect hardware wallet with your electrum wallet, so nothing will be saved on your desktop or on your mobile device.
With watch only wallets you can't send coins and make transactions, but when you connect hardware wallet you can do everything and monitor your addresses.

2849  Economy / Reputation / Re: 'Bitcointalk forum is going downhill because of dkbit98' - CoinPayCard.net on: January 02, 2023, 03:56:58 PM
So you say that if some coins from Blacklisted address A are sent to address B and then to you they're absolutely fine, because they're not from a blacklisted address/wallet.
Oh no... don't tell him this top secret information...
Boss said it's End of story, so you are not allowed to ask him any more questions or doubt his words.
You must always fully trust his words because he is working with worldwide law enforcement space agency  Cheesy
I can't wait to see who are those mysterious legendary members who are allegedly supporting him, but I can already guess myself.
If he can reveal unanswered message I sent him, let's see what other legendary members wrote him.

It's simple - if you want to show that you're credible, just provide some solid proof to back up what you're saying and add some weight to your arguments. This is especially important when you're trying to persuade someone to part with their money.
He said it's End of his story, so please don't ask him any more questions and requests.
Let him complete his scheme in peace.

Very mature. And very common for people who see their scheme fall apart.
Now he accused me that I am a thief who is doing shady illegal stuff, so I see his personal insults are getting bigger towards me all the time.
Sounds like something legitimate businesses are doing all the time  Roll Eyes

End of story.

PS
It's very convenient that ''someone'' registered new account iLoveBtt today and his first post was in that revolutionary service topic ... sounds legit:

2850  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Secure Element in Hardware Wallets on: January 02, 2023, 11:52:44 AM
First list update for new 2023 year is coming for new hardware wallet called Hito, that is currently available for presale.
Hit wallet is open source and information I have is that they are using one microchip with integrated secure storage, so it's different approach compared to all other hardware wallets.
They are using Nordic Semiconductor model nRF5340 first wireless SoC with two Arm Cortex M33 processor that has built in support for Bluewtooth and NFC.
We don't have confirmation for this because Hito hardware wallet was not officially released in public yet.

2851  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New to Bitcointalk - Where to safely purchase Bitcoin? on: January 02, 2023, 11:20:05 AM
1- If I were to transfer my BTC from a cold wallet to a hot wallet would this weaken the security of the cold wallet or increase my chances of being hacked?
No, unless you somehow exposed your seed words.
Sending transactions to other wallet will only show there is some connection between two address you used for sending and receiving.
Hot wallets are less safe and if your device is infected with malware they can easily be hacked.

2 - Where can I securely buy BTC from without paying ridiculous fees?
Best way for safely purchasing Bitcoin without kyc can be made with decentralized exchange Bisq, or using any other p2p options for buying Bitcoin with cash or other payment methods.
Remember that using centralized exchanges can result in freezing your coins or you could be asked to perform identity verification, and you would have to pay extra withdrawal fees.

3 - What are your predictions for BTC in the next 12 months?
I am not a prophet.
Go to Speculation board if you want to talk about Bitcoin price prediction.
2852  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin developer @lukedashjr's wallet was hacked on: January 02, 2023, 11:11:20 AM
What would be the safest and most secure setup for a cold wallet? I am now unsure how to transfer from cold wallet to an online address without compromising security.
Would it be possible to transfer BTC from cold wallet to another cold wallet and then send from that secondary cold wallet to an online address? That way my original cold wallet isn't connecting to the internet or being directly exposed?
You should be just fine if you keep Bitcoin in hardware wallet (Trezor, Passport, Bitbox, Keystone...) and keep seed phrase in secure way offline, but best protection is certainly using multisig setup.
I am surprised that Luke didn't use Multisig, that is must have for anyone that is dealing with larger amount of Bitcoin, like in his case with over 200.
Using dedicated computer for anything related with Bitcoin is also good, but I think Luke was targeted for some time and they just waited for the right moment to attack.

That is good. CZ from Binance has already replied to his tweet:
This is not good at all.
We don't want Binance freezing coins all the time, and we already know that CZ would love to control Bitcoin blockchain and reverse transactions whenever he wants.
2853  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [β] BPIP Extension: user info & extra features add-on/extension, Firefox/Chrome on: January 02, 2023, 10:41:40 AM
Ahem... allow me to introduce you my newest script:
TryNinja never sleeps and he is one of the best bitcointalk Santa's around here!  Cheesy
This two icons never bothered me that much, but maybe you should think about creating one ultimate all-in-one script that will make optional forum design changes.
For example, someone mentioned that posts from ignored members can still be seen in forum when someone quotes their post.
I would also like to hide some other parts in forum that can't be hidden with current modifications available in settings.

2854  Other / Meta / Re: Moderator Account may be compromised? on: January 02, 2023, 10:14:38 AM
Asking government agency for help over Twitter was such a silly move from Luke :/
Bitcoin Knots wallet is also affected by this because it is signed by Luke Dashjr's OpenPGP key, so if you are using this wallet better stop right now.

I checked BTC address Luke posted and it's possible that he lost around 200 Bitcoin because of this, and he claims they compromised him a while ago and planned for this.
There is still a possibility that his Twitter account was hacked because nothing about this was posted on Mastodon and other platforms.
It would be great to see him making a post about this in bitcointalk forum.

Worst thing about this incident is that we have CZ ''savior'' who claims he will now FREEZE Bitcoin connected with Luke Dashjr if someone sends them to his Binance exchange.  Roll Eyes

2855  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Private key from biometric data? on: January 02, 2023, 09:56:11 AM
Wheter you like it or not, linking your online possessions to your biological body will happen, because this body of yours is ultimately THE thing that wants these possesions.
But fear not, future tech will make this process anonymous.
This is probably one of the worst nonsense I heard in a long time.  Roll Eyes
Nobody can force me to link anything with my body if I don't want to do that, unless I am in some concentration camp and this is done by force.
You are asking us to trust you and some mysterious future technology to provide anonymity, but in reality you know jack shit about things you are talking about.
2856  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Flipper Zero and NFC wallets- is this an issue? on: January 01, 2023, 07:35:23 PM
Your main attack scenario in that case would be NFC tunnelling; something that Flipper Zero is not really made for.
I am really no expert for NFC and I don't understand how they work for wallets that support NFC, but it could be different with different models of hardware wallets.

To copy QR codes you only need a camera. You can do that with any old smartphone; IR will be of no help here. My only recommendation for QR codes is: make sure to scan your own phone's screen when signing the unsigned PSBT; and not some malicious PSBT off of somewhere else. Just.. you know, don't scan random QR codes with your hardware wallet. I don't think that's too hard.
I know you need camera, but main thing about QR code data is decoding the signal.
You can for example get code from Safepalk wallet but it won't be compatible with any other wallets so you won't know what you have, so not all QR codes are made equal.

Again; they've existed long before Flipper Zero. Price under 50 bucks.
I see you are familiar with them better than me  Cheesy
Can you please name few of them or send link for me check them out?

Yes, you can do that with the existing NFC readers and some scripting long before Flipper Zero existed. I don't dislike the product; but it's mostly a mashup of existing hardware.
Yes but people seem to like this ''mashup'' very much, and they write much more scripts  Wink
Maybe Joe Grand Kingpin can think if this device can be used for hardware wallets somehow, he likes to think outside the box.

Yeah this think certainly poses a threat to many other things in our lives, like you said I could see this messing with Tesla cars, safes, credit cards, building security passes etc.  The "Kia Boys" are doing a good (also sad and disgusting) job of showing us just how vulnerable many of our things are, including our cars - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbTrLyqL_nw
Bigger threat to our lives is using to much of modern technology and trusting in blindly.
Flipper zero and similar devices are just exposing how fragile everything around is, it's al lbuilt on glass foundation.
As for NFC, many modern everyday wallets (for cards and cash) now have implemented NFC protection, because NFC theaft is becoming a widespread thing.
2857  Other / Meta / Re: [ANIMATED CHART] Local Boards Post Race on: January 01, 2023, 07:13:08 PM
It took some time to take them. But using other tools, like DdmrDdmr dashboard or ninjastic.space it may be possible to get data prior to 2020. I will take a look later!
Thanks!
I am looking forward.

In reality Russian board never really lost the first spot, all that changes were caused due old deleted posts which was the cause for me switching to another data source.
Thanks for explanation.
I was wondering what really happened there but I didn't want to ask to many questions and open new Pandora's box.
Do you think Russian board was in the first place even before 2020 since the beginning?

Pakistan shows decent amount of posts and I think they deserved to get new local board like Nigeria did.
Pakistan is going strong for at least 2 years now, which is imho proof enough that they are not going anywhere and that they indeed deserve their own local board in order to develop further, like Nigerians will now after they got their own.
They had similar or more activity then Nigerian board, so I think 2023 is going to be their year.
Theymos is probably careful when making any changes, and he waits to see if this activity will continue or it is just a passing thing.
2858  Economy / Reputation / Re: 'Bitcointalk forum is going down the hill because of dkbit98' - CoinPayCard.net on: January 01, 2023, 06:59:06 PM
I've seen this behaviour before, and it's typically the ones without good intentions that don't like logical questions.
A personal attack instead of answers, that just tells you he's full of shit.
I've unfollowed his topics, it's pointless.
Yeah, I will stop responding and writing anything in their topics.
It's obvious to me that this member has before been registered in bitcointalk forum, maybe with some other failed or scam project.
I said that initially I really wanted to test their cards, everyone can see that in my first post on their topic, but I soon realized something just isn't right.

Did you get it now? Cheesy
Thanks for translation.
He is obviously using some translator and he can't speak normal English language.

Oh no, it is a shame that good companies have to suffer because of users like you, who ask so many pesky questions. How do you not know that they should be able to do whatever they want without any accountability or scrutiny?  Grin
I can be harsh sometimes asking questions to new companies, but I don't think this was the case here.
I never insulted anyone personally, but instead I received bunch of personal attacks.
Good for everyone that I developed much thicker skin in last few years Wink

I've been wondering why this advertising forum is going to shit, and here is our answer. OP, you should be ashamed. Stop questioning these honest scams, this is not a place to discuss things.
Cheesy
I don't know if they are a scam and never claimed that, but there is something not right about all this.
I say good luck to them, and in return I receive interesting new year message from them.

2860  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: SCAM upozorenja Zbirni topic on: January 01, 2023, 03:43:16 PM
