3641  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BTCapsule is a Bitcoin Time Capsule to leave your private keys as an inheritance on: October 10, 2022, 03:08:26 PM
Anything that at any time needs an outside service that is an open standard is never going to be secure.
Maybe he can use some system of measuring time based on Bitcoin blocks instead of using NTP servers.
This probably won't be so precise in terms or world clock, but it would be much harder to attack or hack, but I am not sure if this can even be created.
I am not a coder and I won't pretend to understand how to do this, I am just proposing a wild idea.
3642  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BTCapsule- a Bitcoin Time Capsule- is now Open Source on: October 10, 2022, 02:54:33 PM
BTCapsule is a Bitcoin Time Capsule for your private keys. Enter a year and your private keys, and when the year arrives, your private keys will be available to whoever you give the program to. This is perfect for inheritance of Bitcoin, very easy to use, and allows you full access to your Bitcoin.
Nice move on listening to bitcointalk community and releasing your code with open source license, but I don't think you needed to create one more topic for BTCapsule.
I know few websites that are doing verification of open source bitcoin wallets, but you would need to find other people to review and audit your code.
Maybe you could contact someone like Andreas Antonopoulos or Jameson Lopp, and get their opinion about BTCapsule.
This would be good for getting more attention from more Bitcoiners, and they could make useful suggestions for improving your software.

Question for OP:
- Is it possible to test and see how BTCapsule works with Bitcoin testnet coins?
3643  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crypto lender Celsius mulls possible restructuring amid financial woes on: October 10, 2022, 02:25:14 PM
that pdf with everyones name/entity reminds me of the mtgox leak.. doxxed everyone, basically.
Now I even see people posting random tweets with real name of people and amount of money they lost in Celsius, this is getting more crazy every day.
You can also see clear steps how crypto influencers like Maren Altman (crypto astrology girl) and Crypto Lark got paid like 15,000 per month for shilling!
I bet you can find all kinds of juicy information in this 14000 pages long document Wink

Huh, people are getting creative with that file so someone made a website that shows how much each person has (had) on Celsius and even made leaderboard according to which top loser had ~40 million USD.
Oh nice, so this is the website they are using to post tweets about money they lost.
Ex-Rich list is big, and there is even one Japanese guy Smiley
3644  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Tutorial] How To Mix bitcoin free on: October 10, 2022, 01:51:39 PM
Like other said it's TOR link you can't just simply access it with normal browser you nedd to use TOR browser to access it but if you don't want to install TOR browser then you can access it with normal browser by adding .ws at the end of TOR url. I don't know if it is safe to use onion.ws but I hope someone can clear this here.
I would never do what you say to access Chipmixer, especially if newbie member is doing this.
It's not that hard to download and install Tor browser, but if that is not available you can always open the same onion link with Brave browser (fork of Chromium browser).
This should not be used as standard browser for mixing, but only as alternative option with less strict settings than Tor browser.

3645  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance Hacked?! What we can do better to protect our funds? on: October 10, 2022, 01:38:33 PM
Are mobile wallets the solution?
Solution for what?
Certainly not if mobile wallets are custodial and connected with some centralized exchange like Binance or any other.
Mobile wallets can be useful for pocket spending money, but they should be open source, non-custodial and best if they are connected with hardware wallets.
For everything else you should use cold wallets that are not connected to internet, and decentralized exchanges like Bisq for p2p trading.

What's your solution?
I already said above, you have to own keys for your own coins, and use some form of p2p trading if you want to avoid risk of hacking and freezing your coins.
If you want to trust random Chinese guy like CZ than go for it, but complain later when something like this happens again.
Never forget how documents of million people leaked online, and how they received bunch of calls from scammers.

As others have mentioned it was not a hack of the exchange but rather the cross-chain bridge.
This stupid ''bridges'' are even worse, and Binance openly promoted them, they even forced people to convert many stable coins to their BUSD crap.
They are also promoting withdrawal of Bitcoin on their centralized blockchain, so they shouldn't be trusted at all.
Let's not forget their ''blockchain'' literally stopped working when this happened  Cheesy
Meanwhile - Bitcoin is up 99.98% of time, with 3,492 days since last downtime.
3646  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Did Binance Just Make KYC Process More Private? on: October 10, 2022, 01:31:13 PM
This is just the next step in government surveillance and centralized exchanges invading your privacy, but with a shiny thing slapped on the front to make it seem palatable to idiots.
It's funny that even some rich people jumped into NFT train thinking they are going to be even more rich, and look how that turned out for them.
People think Bitcoin and stock markets crashed, but nobody is looking into NFT market, it literally don't exist anymore and nobody wants stupid monkeys anymore.
But don't worry I am sure in next bull run exchanges like Binance will offer everyone brand new digital ID KYC deal.  Tongue

Remember ICOs? Do we have any more use cases for ICOs, STOs etc? Is the interest still high in them?
People are already detesting DeFi's, I think you know why.
Rinse and repeat, NFT are already in that list, and they are already thinking how to semi-scam people in next bull run.

3647  Other / Meta / Re: Selling guns on Bitcointalk on: October 10, 2022, 12:54:44 PM
A kitchen knife seller will not be able to make sales on the forum, because a knife is a weapon. (again, according to your logic)
Explain to me how you cut meat at home. Oh, I know. Ready-made food bought at the supermarket. 2 minutes in the micro-waves and Voilŕ!  Cheesy
I gave you several examples not just about knife, but knife is universal tool and you need it for cutting everything, meat, bread, tomatoes, butter, rope.
In China they already started banning regular kitchen knifes (I am serious), so I guess western countries must follow this crazy trend of banning everything.
They think it's better to take away every possible self-defense tools and make them all illegal... I wonder why is that hmmm...

Bitcointalk forum doesn't have very active trading section and I think it would be stupid to sell guns, medicines and stuff like that here, but whatever.
My point was that even trading Bitcoin is considered illegal in some countries, yet it is allowed here.
You start banning one thing and soon it comes another, and another, and another  Tongue
3648  Other / Meta / Re: Selling guns on Bitcointalk on: October 09, 2022, 09:35:17 PM
One day some regulators could also make Bitcoin illegal, it is already illegal in some parts of the world, and not so long ago gold was illegal in America.
You can buy a knife to cut bread or kill someone, you can buy a gun for self defense or you can kill someone with it, and you can use bitcoin for this.
Similar thing could be said for medications, I know some cases when licensed doctors and pharmacist killed their patients, and this is one of the top cases of deaths in US.
I wouldn't use Bitcointalk forum for stuff like this, but common sense is needed when talking about this.
3649  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Indiegogo launch - help us! :o on: October 08, 2022, 08:50:57 PM
I need your help again from all of you. What do you think will be a good price to sell? Our plain is to sell for $ 100,00 But we would like to know your opinion.

If we change the Indiegogo campaign for example to $ 50,00 are you going to buy on Indiegogo today?
I don't know how much is production cost going to be to assemble Crypto Platz, and that is probably depending on location of country you are ordering all the source materials.
For Indiegogo campaign price of $50 would be much better, and it's comparable with stainless steel plates and some other cards that store seed words.
I am not sure if I would pre-order this card right now before I see some early testing reviews, but you could give reduced price and start spreading the word on twitter and social media.
3650  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PSA: Get your Bitcoin off any exchange supporting "BSV" (due to insolvency risk) on: October 08, 2022, 08:19:04 PM
It's probably worth pointing out that this is completely intentional. As Greg has pointed out above, CSW's team will be releasing code which allows him to arbitrarily seize BSV.
I know CSW and his bsv trolls in this forum are openly supporting censorship, seizure of funds, and I think they even like the idea of creating CBDC that will work similar like BSV in the end.
It's more like vouchers than a real money, and you can spend them only on such items that government (and CSW) allows you to use them.
I can't wait to see the day when bsv shitcoins will also have expiration dates  Cheesy

This is an attack these scammers wanted and tried to perpetrate against Bitcoin but the Bitcoin community fought them back.
Yeah, but sadly some people are still blindly following them and not looking at all the red flags  Tongue
For a long time I was think that best for to deal with CSW is to ignore him, but this is obviously impossible thing to do.

Do you know what's funny about this? Cheesy We could literally find 20 people in this forum who are willing to buy 7TB of HDD space to spin up BSV nodes and vote against Craig's 9 nodes. It would be great, just showing that it is this easy to attack a not properly decentralized blockchain.
Are you by any chance one of those people?  Wink
It's pure waste of time and resources, but why not create such campaign, when he can spend all that time spreading toxicity and lawsuits worldwide.
I am sure most of people who run BSC nodes are acting like zombies and they will follow anything CSW tells them to do, but not all of them so we could gain few on our side.
Blockchair explorer is showing bsv blockchain has total of 18 nodes, but other more optimistic websites are reporting total of 57 nodes... it's pathetic.
3651  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Recent events should make you withdraw all your coins to your own wallet: Part 3 on: October 08, 2022, 07:57:47 PM
Not using centralized exchanges at all is the best thing you can do, but getting your coins off them if you are already using them is a close second.
I agree with everything you said, and I don't supporting using any centralized exchanges for storing Bitcoins, but sometimes we are forced to use them.
I would add also add that people should stop using shitcoin bridges and convert all tokens on other blockchain back to real Bitcoin, because we saw what is happening with all that fake defi stuff.
My suggestion is to add additional information what to do after you withdraw coins from exchanges and other centralized platforms.
One step forwards would be using decentralized exchanges like Bisq or other way of P2P trading, and using cold wallets for better security.
3652  Economy / Digital goods / Re: very special bitcoin address for sale on: October 08, 2022, 07:42:15 PM
the "kobe bryant" bitcoin address. how much u guys think it's worth? maybe $10? keep in mind, i know its private key so if you buy it, then that makes 2 of us. but i'll delete my copy, pinky swear.
How much time you needed to create this non-special bitcoin address?
I would never guess this is related with Kobe Bryant in any way, and sorry but I wouldn't pay a single sat for that.
Some time ago I generated few vanity addresses in memory of member Lauda, it only took few minutes, and it was totally free.

It's probably worth somewhere between $0 and a red tag.
I wouldn't red tag him for this, just let him sell his creation Smiley

If you like this address, I suggest you use it for yourself.  It's literally worthless to anyone else.
Ask Kobe Bryant family first, maybe they are willing to offer you millions of dollar worth of Bitcoin for it  :/
3653  Other / Meta / Re: Does Forum Advertising Considered as a Formal Work? on: October 08, 2022, 07:27:35 PM
Would it be considered as formal work even though I think it's more like freelancing? I mean, in formality can you include that on your Resume or CV?
C'mon man, be serious... why would you include in your CV information that you ''worked'' as a Bitcointalk forum member?!
Let me just talk with theymos and his staff members if they can give an approval and send you certificate proof with your paid health insurance  Cheesy
I know bitcointalk forum is special and unique place, but nobody is going to hire you anywhere if you start writing stuff like this in your work resume.

PS
Don't forget that you also ''worked'' for Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc.
3654  Other / Meta / Re: @Mods - Bitcoin Pumpkin carving contest on: October 08, 2022, 07:17:21 PM
I posted this in collectibles since the prizes will be bitcoin collectibles  ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5416347.0 ) .  I'd like to get involvement of anyone on this forum, and I know a lot of members don't ever venture over to the collectibles board.  Is there anywhere else I could post this so more people see it?  I think it would be fun for the community as a whole.
Nice work! 🎃
It would be nice to create some kind of forum competition once every year, in similar way like we have Bitcointalk Pizza event.
People could buy pumpkins and make unique Bitcoin designs, heck we could even attract some sponsors and give rewards for best design works.
Competition would attract less submissions without bitcoin rewards, but I still think this would be interesting to have.
Let's start the Bitcoin Pumpkin Day  Wink
3655  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GrapheneOS BTC donations for Pixel7 on: October 08, 2022, 05:52:06 PM
You can also just donate to Graphene in general, instead of just the we need to buy some phones by using the various crypto addresses here, along with PayPal and credit cards
Yeah I know but it's very cool to see Bitcoin is being their first choice for all donations, and I saw some Bitcoiners support this project.
Bitcoin plus GrapheneOS is like a perfect match made in heaven  Smiley
Interesting that Graphene developers are using Trezor Model T hardware wallet for accepting donations, and I think they reached the goal for Pixel7, 0.207 BTC received so far.
One more cool thing, they plan to add Lightning donations with their own Bitcoin and Lightning node!

Personally not a fan of the Pixel line in general as of late, but I understand why they concentrate on them.
I think Pixel 6 is larger than I would like to see and it has some flaws, but they reduced slightly size for new Pixel 7 model, and Pixel 7A will be even smaller.
Compared to other flagship smartphones I think they have very reasonable pricing, and Pixel phone loaded with GrapheneOS is next level compared to all other phones, if you care about privacy.

Table from the same Medium article

Serija The Cleaning Lady, druga sezona počela i opet je Bitcoin u glavnoj ulozi, najviše u prvoj epizodi.

3658  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it possible to calculate how much the price of BTC? on: October 07, 2022, 05:07:08 PM
Is it possible to calculate how much the price of BTC will go up until it hits the 21 billion cap?
This would be pure speculation, and I saw many models that predict prices from $100k  to $1 million, but with ever increasing inflation (that will most likely switch to hyperinflation) that isn't really so important.
Value for dollar and other fiat currencies is going down every day, they print a ton of money and this messes up with all price predictions.
Everyone probably heard about PlanB predictions, but here is one even more optimistic prediction Bitcoin rainbow chart:
https://www.blockchaincenter.net/en/bitcoin-rainbow-chart/

How can I calculate the price potential of BTC within the next 1-10 years?
You can't calculate this, you can only make prediction like for everything else in future, unless you have a time machine.
3659  Bitcoin / Project Development / GrapheneOS BTC donations for Pixel7 on: October 07, 2022, 04:26:08 PM
GrapheneOS is making a small fundraising event to preorder two Google Pixel7 smartphones for making their privacy oriented open source mobile operating system.
Their first choice for accepting payments is Bitcoin and they posted address in public on their twitter post, but for regular donations they also accept Monero, Zcash, credit card payments, PayPal, etc.
Everything they do is available for free as open source, so it would be good for anyone who appreciate their work and use Graphene to make donation, however small it is.

Quote
We need $3500 to preorder 2x Pixel 7 and 2x Pixel 7 Pro (2x $599 + 2x $799 at local prices with added sales tax). One for main device maintainers and one for main dev/testing set.

3660  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Interview with the organizers of Adopting Bitcoin (El Salvador) on: October 07, 2022, 04:01:30 PM
Yeah, I'm about to buy my ticket. Didn't pull the trigger because I also considered Labitconf. But I finally came to terms with the fact that I can't afford both 😅
Labitconf event is in Buenos Aires, Argentina right?
El Salvador is in totally different direction and I think Adopting Bitcoin summit sounds much more interesting to me.
Max Keiser will be there, and I see Ben Arc from LNbits is one of the guests, he make a lot of cool bitcoin based gadgets, I don't know if you made interview with him before.
