383  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best exchange to trade? Why? on: February 26, 2018, 04:23:42 PM
I think Binance is the best exchange because it is user friendly so we can understand easily even if you are new to that exchange and more coins are available for trade when compared to other exchange. But I don't know whether they have added identity verification process yet or not but most of the exchanges are implementing ID verification.

You can willingly upload your documents to increase your withdrawal limits, if you wish, but you don't have to (and I haven't seen any indication this will change anytime soon).

https://support.binance.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000864371-Verification-on-Binance - new limits for verified accounts are 100 BTC per day.
384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why People Can Not Believe Bitcoin on: February 26, 2018, 03:41:47 PM
Just show them the money dude. Show them the proof. Show them the things you bought using the profit you made from crypto. At first, my friends doesnt believe me. After few investments in Bitcoin it tripple my profit thats why I renovated my house. Such a wonderful blessing from above..

[...]

The problem with that is they probably won't be investing because they understand what they're getting into, but instead are just looking at it as a "get rich quick scheme". The outcome of that will be they'll promptly buy at the top and then proceed to feed the whales when the price takes a dive - and we'll have to put up with one more person claiming Bitcoin wrecked their lives / is a scam / ponzy / whatever else.
385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why People Can Not Believe Bitcoin on: February 26, 2018, 02:17:49 PM
It is hard to believe BTC is a scam, even though everything is possible Cheesy Another thing are hacks happening around, which are not directly related to Bitcoin, but more with the exchanges and wallets. For this reason, it does your BTC can eventually get hacked and you may losing your holdings.

That's what cold storage is for; keep a small amount (however much you will need to use regularly / in the short term) in a hot wallet (your internet connected PC or smartphone), and the rest in an offline wallet (hardware wallets, dedicated PC or smartphone, or paper wallets)1. If you do it right, it's unlikely you'll ever lose your coins to hackers (worse case scenario, you'll lose what you left in the hot wallet).

1 - as an example, see how to set up cold storage with Electrum: http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/coldstorage.html.

Wow! You took really great effort (in comparison to other people) to shill this coin 😂

If any future coin developer reading this, I advise you to not force peope to advertise your coin. It looks shady.

Yeah, especially when they're shilling an old, dead coin - what the heck are they up to? Cheesy

Anyway, tungkon1123, ngodangthang, MaoNgu99, coinRebirth, rentco, kieuoanh1993 and, I'm sure, many other brand new accounts (probably owned by the same person) have been posting non-stop about it (here and elsewhere in the forum) - considering they're not even letting a new page pass before continuing, it might be a good idea to report these posts.
387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why People Can Not Believe Bitcoin on: February 26, 2018, 12:19:48 PM
Hello Everyone.
Recently my friends Asked me. Now I can investment with bitcoin. I said my friends. Of course you can invest bitcoin without tension.
but my friends can not believe bitcoin.my friends tell me bitcoin price always dumping. It's will be got this scam. Cry
I got this boring felling with my friends opinion. Because I always believe them bitcoin about.
Bitcoin is the real king crypto currency world. Bitcoin will be never scam. It's not possible.  Embarrassed

Bitcoin itself is certainly not a scam, but do keep in mind that it's still "new" technology, and that there is still a lot to be done. If critical bugs / exploits / whatever come up, or even situations for which the incentives that have been set up don't work, we could still end up losing everything - I don't actually believe this will happen, but it's a good idea to have a backup plan.

Hey there !
You will always have skeptics no matter what, but cant force everyone to believe in it but the results speak for itself. This same discussion took over when bitcoin was at 1 $,10$,100$ and 1000$. Look at it today but the more time passes the more recognition its getting ! More and more companies taking interests in bitcoin and numbers are growing globally.
Told my cousin about it when it was 200$ called it a scam and now that its around 10k he wants to invest in it !
IMO people will change their view based on the value of it as it grows more and more Smiley

If people are changing their view on Bitcoin based on the fiat value, there's a good chance that greed and FOMO have more to do with it than understanding what Bitcoin is all about. Undecided

389  Economy / Economics / Re: until when will the bounty program remain? on: February 26, 2018, 10:34:42 AM
as long as most people support bounty program it will not easy to remove the bounty program and spread ICO project

[...] As long as there are ICOs and new coins being developed, there are bounty programs as well.

Investors make the bounty program move. As long as investors exist bounty program remain. They need to have a bounty program inorder to promote their project through social media and on the thread itself.

Yeah guys, but please keep in mind that, ultimately, whether or not the bounty programs remain - in this forum - depends on how much they interfere with the normal functioning of the forum, and how much they piss off the Mods and Admins. Tongue

Remember, the Merit system was introduced to try and minimize the impact of all these bounties (mostly signature campaigns) - the next step might be to remove them from the forum entirely.
390  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC will go downwards again after current consolidation on: February 26, 2018, 09:39:06 AM
Mhm I don't buy it. People can make up whatever they like on all this technical analysis but they might as well be looking into a crystal ball or even a magic 8 ball. It's always been BS but in crypto it's even more obvious that no one can predict what will happen because there are so many people in so many different parts of the world that are affecting the price. The price will lie flat for a while (a relative term hahahaha. +/- 25%) then it'll head right back on trend. The upward trend. Because fiat is worthless by definition.

Many do seem to get carried away with their analysis (either because they have an agenda, as socks435 suggested, or through simple wishful thinking), but it's not all BS. In particular, short term trends and patterns tend to be easy to identify and are far more predictable - we'll probably never know for sure both the direction and time the price will move, but we can get enough of an edge over time to be able to profit from it (see for example how the idea of inside bars works, or how oversold / overbought bounces work).

That said, the last part of your comment is spot on; the safest bet is to just hodl long term, and not worry too much about it.

Here’s something to rile up the NRA members in the thread.

For the same effect (but more about the "check against tyranny" argument) I like The Juice Media's take: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxHvHi-MdIM:

Robert Foster: General?

General Baxter: Look, if the slaves want guns, leave them be; our supremacy doesn't depend on weaponry. With schools, media, money and meds we control every aspect of your lives through ideological hegemony. But if you think you need guns to stop tyranny, then what are you waiting for? We've already stripped you of your liberty, privacy, civil rights and dignity - you want some more?

392  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns [Last update: 15-Feb-2018] on: February 26, 2018, 06:19:14 AM
UsbitFlyer is supposed to be PNYC, other than that everything looks good Smiley
Here's a fixed version of ralle's update
https://paste.ee/p/9bQCZ

Actually, I think the OneHash campaign needs some attention as well. Smiley

The minimum post count there seems to be 25 posts per week (as opposed to the 20 specified) - the campaign rules apparently changed over time but, looking at the OP (last updated Fev 7), that seems to be the current amount.
393  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best exchange to trade? Why? on: February 26, 2018, 04:55:13 AM
Would like recommendation on best exchange to trade on and reason why you believe the exchange is better than others?

Poloniex is one of the best exchanges to trade because the fee structure is very less when compared to Bittrex or Binance and they also has no ID verification upto limit of $2000 perday. So it is bet for small traders to trade anonymously. And almost all the coins are available in Poloniex so it is best in my opinion.

Unfortunately, I don't think you'll be able to avoid ID verification in Poloniex much longer - they will be disabling much of the exchange's functionality for legacy accounts at the end of Q11 (they announced that a couple of months ago already). Also, I've never had any problems with them personally but, as others pointed out (in this thread and too many others), their costumer support is apparently... not great. Better hope you don't need to use them. Tongue

394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best was to cash out on: February 18, 2018, 10:33:41 PM
Hey all,

Whats the best was to cash out your coins? Send direct to the Bank? Do you have to pay tax on your earnings?  What do you guys do?

Thanks

No cashing out for me - just hodling until Bitcoin replaces fiat (or fails completely). Tongue

As for taxes, and whether or not you will have to pay anything on your gains, that will of course depend on your country. In Portugal, for example, there is currently no tax burden (unless your gains are part of your professional activity).
395  Economy / Speculation / Re: Reason for bitcon fall on: February 11, 2018, 02:00:47 PM
Despite Good news coming from bitcon this days, the fall still continue..... Can one help identify the reason for the fall?

nobody can help you identify the reason because there was no "fall" as you said to have a reason.
price is currently at $8300 according to Bitsamp and the changes in the past 72 hours (3 days) are less than 7%. you can not call this "continuation of the fall"!!!

It may continue to fall if it fails to break above $10k soon. It failed to break $9k so this is a bad sign for the bulls.

I tend to agree with BitcoinHodler here - I'm no TA expert but, as far as I can tell, there aren't that many red flags at the moment: sure, we're not going through these levels at the same (rocket propelled) speed we were going back in November / December; on the other hand, we seem to be forming consistent higher lows and higher highs on higher volume than before the $6k bottom (quite bullish, I think).

I would start getting concerned if we break the higher high / higher low pattern we're currently in though (anything above $7725 is still a higher low, and anything reaching above $9075 will be a higher high (Bitfinex prices)).
396  Economy / Speculation / Re: How low will BTC reach? on: February 05, 2018, 04:53:43 PM
I would say 7k and then bounce back, otherwise 5k. Because if it can go down to 6k, it won't stop there. 5k is the last stand and I believe it will hold.

I agree. I don't think we stopped on the $6k range for long on the (rocket propelled) way up, so there probably won't be a lot of support there - assuming we break below $7k psychological, which I hope we won't. Roll Eyes
397  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Must Read: Newbies and Merits on: February 05, 2018, 04:36:27 PM
A lot of new users are asking how to get merits [...]

  • Always try to make posts that can positively contribute to the forums [...]

I think that alone sums it up real well. Tongue

That said, there might be a couple extra things you can do:
  • if you have, or want to start learning a new skill you can market online (programming, design, and so on), create a thread in the Services section of the forum offering it (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0) - probably slow, but it might not only earn you Merit points but also actual BTC.
  • I noticed a few users with Merit giveaway threads - the criteria used to award the points varies between users but, if you're in a rush to increase your score, you could give that a try.

Ultimately though, you need about 1 Merit point per day on average to rank up (since Activity is still a thing, and that is as much Activity as you gain if you post consistently). So don't overdo it. As others said, create good content and Merits will find you eventually.
398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any new airdrop coins? on: February 05, 2018, 06:17:41 AM
Isn't an "air drop" it's "money printing". Looks like cryptocurrencies are just like Fiat, created from thin air. The digital money printing could destroy the Blockchain idea because it is a huge flaw to allow duplication. You cannot duplicate Gold or Silver. Now is a good time to be owning some metals instead

First, Blockchain is one of the technologies Bitcoin (and other alts) depend on - it's not going away, unless someone finds a fatal flaw in its design (which, someone copying the tech and using it for their own purposes certainly isn't). Second, creating a new cryptocurrency is no more akin to money printing than me creating a new painting / whatever that will compete for the money someone is looking to invest.

Third, how do you extract the private key from Gold / Silver? That stuff is too heavy to carry around. Tongue (not to mention, you will probably depend on third parties to store and take care of it for you, and it's too easy for governments to confiscate, if they so choose)

I would like to thank for your thread. this thread is very helful for the newbie, who do not have money to trade in crypto. However, I wanna give the newcomers that they should research carefully before joining. Becaus, most airdrops just collect your data and say good bye,

It's probably also wise to advise them to use specifically created Email / Twitter / Facebook / Telegram / whatever accounts when joining these things (as opposed to using their regular accounts) - just in case.
399  Economy / Economics / Re: until when will the bounty program remain? on: February 05, 2018, 05:09:22 AM
Over the years there have been a lot of crypto-based-based projects where the business owners offer shares in the form of coins they produce with different kinds of promotions including bounty programs, until when will the gift program remain?
For me i want bounty program to remain forever. Because i am making much money from joining bounty campaign. And i want the future generation to earn money from bounty too.

[...] So, I know that Those campaigns needs us to promote them and I think it will ends if the owner of this forum really stop it. So, praying that it will never happens.

But, unfortunately, that may very well end up happening, unless the merit system manages to visibly decrease the spam throughout the forum. Signature campaigns et al. would probably go on to survive elsewhere, but it would still be quite the blow to the "industry" (and the forum would lose 95% of its current users). Tongue

It's too early to get a clear picture, but my thoughts so far:

First, most people complaining about merit are constantly posting garbage, and should not rank-up. The forum is not a welfare system; you don't run through a few hoops and then get paid for doing something that nobody actually wants. I like that good forum members can make money, especially when said forum members are in poorer countries and this is a major opportunity for them. I very much do not want to destroy the sig-ad/airdrop/bounty "industry". But I am not going to tolerate people posting garbage upon garbage. If the merit system completely fails and I can't think of anything else to replace it, then my next step will probably be to completely remove all ways for forum users to make money from posting (eg. removing signatures entirely).

[...]
400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Long way to go until bottom... on: February 05, 2018, 02:10:35 AM
... total market capitalization will drop to $250,000,000

So there is a long way to go yet!

I suspect that those who entered the market recently, within the last 3 months, I unlikely to ever see a return on their investment. I doubt the market will reach $600,000,000 to $800,000,000 again.

HODL is bad advice. This happens every January is nonsense.

You have been warned.

Thanks for warning for this.
The total world marketcap now is around 400 billion, so if you think it will be 250 billion then the price will be droping again around 50%. Its very sad.
But may i know what analysis do you use to see the marketcap run? Why is it going to go to 250 billion marketcap?

His crystal ball told him so, according to Soke above. I also like Keihatsu's signature: "faith in authority is the enemy of the truth" - too bad we can only take his advice on faith, as he provided no reasoning (let alone evidence) for what he claims will happen (and probably won't).

Some alts are still traveling down to its bottom like Bitcoin Cash. Not sure if Bitcoin is also planning to go down more. But I believe   their might be some fakeouts. But it will surely pump in a couple of days.
