When is the dead line for claiming optitokens?

I mean i know the snapshot deadline was 1st of may but when is the claims deadline?

I cant see anything about the bitbay airdrop on their site?

i sent email as instructed 3 days ago and hasnt got anything yet.

I'm shocked bitbay marketing team didn't make a lot more of this airdrop to be honest. This should have been pushed all over the main board.

This thread needs thread manager to answer all questions and keep it on the first pages of the ann section. David does what he can but fair enough he is better coding and designing the project.

When i hear there are whales with 10's and 10's of millions come on guys let's hire a thread manager for a few bay crumbs (to them anyway) per week.

The deadline for claiming seems hard to even ascertain for this airdrop ...

Yeah well it was a very nice gesture from Opti however we also had a deadline for the dedicated Mac build and some GUI updates. I think we are still missing key marketing people to push this forward. Consider how many different platforms of social media can be used to market. Either way this year is a dramatic difference over the previous one, we have  a lot of great stuff in store.
382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: May 04, 2018, 09:43:02 AM
So much development to come in relatively short time period...

this project is undervalued IMO

however considering that we are only recently coming  out of the Jan- march correction from 2017 exuberance-perhaps we should look at the overall market cap in all cryptocurrencies and expect the price of stable blockchain projects to float up as institutional money flows into the sector

thanks to the developers for their steady improvements

who takes care of marketing?

Our marketing is mostly managed by a group of members although nobody specializes in it. We have for example, SEO people and we have project managers such as Shorn and when Aletha does recruiting and outreach it certainly helps. We have attempted to work with different marketing leads but nobody yet has delivered what we needed. So yeah it's a work in progress. But we do things like recently going to seminars, we have a good Twitter and YouTube prescience and several community managers.

What about Raspberry PI? How soon will they begin listing these devices on BitBay market?

Good question I think maybe other members more closely involved with it can answer this question. We should actually start populating the markets again considering the new version of the software being released.
384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: May 04, 2018, 09:38:10 AM
There are two main competitors for bitbay: syscoin and particl. Do you know what are the differences between them?

Well we are based on BitHalo which was the worlds first smart contracts years before Ethereum and our markets were a year before Open Bazaar. Our contracts are unbreakable using double deposit escrow which is a major advantage over SYS. As for Particl which use to be ShadowCash, they started their project inspired by BlackHalo and eventually BitBay. So pretty much everything on the Particl roadmap is stuff we already have. And even when they do get it we have multiple templates and are not only just sales of goods but also services and barter and custom programmable contracts. And then we also have the peg on the roadmap which will cause our coin to be much more stable and protect it's growth. So why those two projects are higher marketcap is a mystery to us all because we have been leading the industry in tech for years.

Really?  Smiley
So soon?

Well I can say the template releases are definitely on schedule. Actually the Hire Template has been mostly finished for a month. As for web markets I don't know because that part I'm not coding and I think they have been trying to get the nodes to be stable for android and web wallets and also they will need to see the architecture for it and everything. If I can get the templates done early then the peg should be on schedule. Although honestly I would prefer a test client before forking. So any release we can see the software enforcing the peg and then a little more time to negotiate with exchanges.

Thank you, David!
The last thing I'm not sure is do I need to create some special custom token in eth wallet to receive OPTI. There was an instruction:
https://medium.com/adbank-blog/how-to-add-a-custom-token-to-myetherwallet-fc4f17840ded
But I don't know if that ADB token was just an example and maybe I should create one for OPTI. I couldn't find info.

You would just be telling MyEtherWallet to recognize it so you can check your balance and send and stuff. Opti will probably
give some info on that when it launches.

Okay so this post is going to be a bit casual but I will forward it to Sean so they can make a nice tutorial with some screenshots.

If using Markets wallet:
Your account that qualifies should be the one you have open
Go to File->Sign/Verify
In the area to enter your message, paste your ETH address without any spaces or extra stuff
Then click sign
Choose one of your keys from the account you have open that qualifies
Then copy the signature and save it somewhere
Click sign again
Choose the second key from the account you have open that qualifies
Then copy the second signature and save it somewhere
Then close that window and go to the send tab
Click on advanced sending
Click on "Copy redeem script"
Then send an email to Optitoken
The contents should be your redeem script, your ETH address and BOTH of your signatures

Is it safe?
And where exactly the "key from the account you have open that qualifies" located?
Thank you!

Every account comes with two "share" files. key1.share and key2.share. Those are your public keys connected to your private keys. Really just the account that qualifies is the one you have open which is one of the top 500. So yes it's perfectly safe. What you send Opti is your redeem script which is actually just your receiving address written out longer, your ETH address and signatures. You can always contact me in advance if you have any questions about this. Maybe we can make a short video showing how to sign for both QT and Markets or a visual tutorial.

Thank you, but BitBay client lets you sign only ".private" files and there are no other options. So I signed two ".private" keys, exactly as you said: "Choose one of your keys... Choose the second key". Is it OK? Can somebody reach my account using these signatures?

Correct! The two private keys connected to your account is what signs. Then Opti only needs your redeem script which contains the public keys so it's
easy to verify.

Bitcoin works with signatures, that is how transactions are also sent so yeah absolutely secure. You can learn more about how the cryptography works in these
really cool videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXB-V_Keiu8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEBfamv-_do

I'm going to make a graphic to show this process better for both QT and Markets client. The Opti snapshot is the 1st of May if you know you will be on top 500 then surely you can try to sign now.

If any body is trying to use the smart contract bitbay wallet but it always crashes on you, try opening the client as an administrator (  run as administrator) it works for me . whom every it works for can start making smart contracts now in bitbay.

Thanks for reporting this, what platform are you running and what directory did you install to?!

Keep up the great work and the results will come. You're a smart man with demonstrable results ...

I am going to buy some BitBay as i think the coin its self is very unique. Thanks

Nice to have you on board! Let us know on here if you ever have any questions or want to test out the markets.  Smiley

An important correction, it's nice to see all the volume recovering.  Cool

My dad is seriously struggling with your chess puzzle book btw. You're torturing him.

Hahaha thanks. Yes some are too difficult even if you use a computer to assist. That indeed was the idea. But of course it's an art form and tactics/mechanics. I've always loved composing... perhaps that is what attracted me to programming over the past 5 years.
393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: April 23, 2018, 12:20:34 AM
Someone on reddit asked about money raised and Token distribution at ICO.

This is the answer :
"All of the tokens were distributed. Roughly 1 billion. They claimed to raise 3000 Bitcoins when in reality it was closer to 1000 which at the time was roughly a half a million dollars. That was split among 5 people including myself and I'm the only one that stayed on the project afterwards. This took place at the end of 2014 more than 3 years ago."

So 4 of 5 devs disappeared?
Not surprise..
It`s common event in crypto..
Those unrealised fat ITs earning huge money in 2-3 months in crypto and leave everything, going to Thailand, to taste women.. Smiley
That`s why team is main factor in every project..
Glad we have overcome this failure..

The question was asked on Reddit and I do believe in always giving a straightforward answer. Because indeed not enough funds were available for our initial growth although luckily things have expanded on their own.

Yeah this is a story for the history books. We have come so far since then and have met deadlines and have been the first to release new features such as the decentralized markets which were a year before OpenBazaar. So the current team is extremely good and meeting our timeline. It definitely doesn't feel lonely anymore.  Smiley

The team has grown a lot since then.

Staking is so damn unprofitable for this coin ...

High inflation is not profitable either. The gains on staking must be realistic and not put downward pressure on the market. Currently with the staking weight users actually gain closer to 2% which is pretty decent.
395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Blackcoin [BLK] | The Original Proof of Stake Coin | No ICO | No Pre-mine on: April 20, 2018, 10:20:51 AM
BLK is the only coin that the community truly owns 100%.

There's no other coin that gets PoS completely right. In order for PoS to stay decentralised, it needs to start out fair so that it stays fair. This is because the power of staking is directly linked to the share of coins someone in the network.

For PoS to work it needs to meet several conditions:

- Even dispersion
- No exploitable features (like coinage)
- No unfair advantages to a singular party.

If these conditions aren't met, then we enter in a 'rich get richer' situation where a small group accumulates power and wealth and starts controlling the network. Almost every competing PoS coin manages to fuck it up in one way or another, quite impressive actually.

BLK, however, checks all these boxes. BLK stripped away the protocol to it's simplest form, leaving no mechanics that give anyone an edge in staking (and voting), the devs got 0 BLK from the launch, they rely on donations from the community (there's a new crowdfunding feature that will streamline this further).

The way BLK is set up is ideological, and so far everyone who truly 'gets' this ideal ends up having no other choice than to love this coin.

And it shows! Two months ago the founder of BLK tried to co-opt the coin for his own purposes, the community didn't agree with his lack of transparency and his unclear motives, and thus he wasn't able to do anything. Anything he would do to the coin would end up being an unsupported fork that would have to continue as a whole new coin. It's a powerful case as to who truly decides what happens to the coin: It's us. We own it. We decide.

There's just always something wrong with mining. Either miners are too powerful or apathetic, or there's these ASIC exploits. In the end mining means users paying a network cost to those who don't use their coin. That's so perverse.

The crypto sector as a whole is only slowly starting to understand that Proof of Stake will end up being the only option to truly secure value in decentralised network. Everything else relies on having as much power in as many hands as possible.

When you realise that Proof of Stake is the only way and why it's the only way, then there's simply nothing that beats BLK.

I love every case point that you have made. I will have to save this comment!

It's okay, what will remain is two chains. It's possible that it might cause some reinvigorated interest in Blackcoin. And for many years it has remained a strong project.
396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Blacknet (formerly BlackCoin) | PoS | No ICO | Snapshot on: April 20, 2018, 10:16:23 AM
When it will get updated on Coinmarketcap it still showing the old name this will be confusion for people even there is another thread with title of Blackcoin. Which coin I will get if I buy this one from Bittrex.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3017838

Probably both. If rat4 does a snapshot then he will have to market the new Blacknet as a separate project. Regardless both chains would still exist most likely. Although someone should go ahead and confirm this.

Only the TOP 500 Bitbay holders will get the airdrop? So, in other words you must have a minimum of 200k Bitbay to get into the TOP 500. 200k Bitbay is equal to arround $12k..

The airdrop should have been expanded to atleast top 1000-2500..but well if they want it so, let it be.

It's probably because chainz only lists top 500 and plus it's a lot of work to verify all the addresses
400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Blacknet (formerly BlackCoin) | PoS | No ICO | Snapshot on: April 14, 2018, 08:48:09 AM
"Blacknet is the next update of BlackCoin.
Due to complexity of updating from UTXO model to account model the chosen way to update is new blockchain. Snapshot date will be announced in advance.
Design goal: focus on proof of stake and provide an interface for smart contracts for everything else."

I don't actually disagree with this. Honestly, rat4, if done well, it can be a serious contender. Just please, for the love of the community, communicate.

I think an account model is okay, as long as there is some pruning techniques done to address blockchain bloat. Also it would be nice to see a superior version of DPOS where there is no set number of delegates but maybe you can rely on better hardware for stakers... perhaps a benchmark test?! Also a more random method of block selection would be nice.

It should be said, if Blackcoin becomes BlackNet, BlackHalo would probably not be coded for BlackNet if switching to an account driven model because that would be a very dramatic change to the code. Although this depends on the API commands rat4 has. If he adds smart contracts at least I can coach how a simple DDE contract (could) occur.

So most likely BlackHalo will stand with the original Blackcoin community. And of course I support whatever rat4 does code and consider him a good friend in the cryptosphere.
