Tranz, can you add presstab's explorer to the hobonickels.info

Done I think I got most of the links. Looking for a current updated pool list. What do we have out there?
382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - High Fast Stake - Version 1.5. Come on in the water's fine! on: February 16, 2016, 03:03:01 AM
My wallet stopped staking, anyone help a hobo out?

What happened:  my eeePC is barely fast enough to run the wallet.  I withdrew some coins about a month or two ago now, and it took many minutes to process. The coins got sent but (I figure because of the long freeze/delay) my wallet no longer synced.

What I did: I removed the wallet files from the \roaming\ directory and then redownloaded the entire blockchain. Took about 2 or 3 weeks or something. Then I closed the program, put the wallets back in the directory, and restart the wallet.

Now:  wallets appear okay but none of them are syncing.  In the lower right corner, when i mouse-over the arrow, it says that its not staking because the coins are not mature even though they are definitely old enough.

Was there some sort of rescan switch or command? How do I do that again? Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Everything seems ok from my end. But as presstab suggested mabye a debug file posted somewhere would help shed some light.

I'm updating the website with new links. What pools do we have?

Could someone kindly link me to as recent of a bootstrap as possible?

I think PressF1 has the most recent one for us.

Alright we are up and running!

http://www.presstab.pw/phpexplorer/HBN/index.php

hbn.presstab.pw will be the shortlink once the dns propogates.

First time I have looked around much on your explore. Just want to say, fantastic job! Tons of great information, easy to use and smooth.

So just a question outta curiosity is the only place to buy HBN right now Cryptopia?  Like does Cryptsy still exist or did they go kaput?

They do exist and you can buy HBN there, but with all the issues, it is a risk. Plus it is cheaper right now on Cryptopia.
387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - High Fast Stake - Version 1.5. Come on in the water's fine! on: January 05, 2016, 03:35:09 AM
Does anyone have the approximate best height of HBN? I was under the impression that it is currently 2m+ blocks correct? Still have a server dedicated to HBN only bootstrapping nonstop trying to catch up. right now it is around 1.4m blocks in. I am assuming it is taking long because HBN uses scrypt which is a bit harder to hash than some of the other algos.

FYI, it's taken about 2 days for me to fully sync from scratch when I moved to a new computer.  HBN has been quite the resource hog.

2 day for a 3+ year old coin, is really not bad, especially looking at one that is 30 second block time. You must have a fairly fast computer.  I still don't have an answer for the amount of ram that the daemon uses. But I am beginning some research into it.  CPU is pretty low, just keep your block sizes large and use the auto combine you should be in good shape.

I've moved to a quad core i7 and ssd for my coin server.  The dual core xenon server cpu wasn't doing it anymore... relegated it to media serving through plex.

I manually combine to ~7-8k block size which has helped a lot... but I made sure to build it with 32GB of RAM...

32!  Shocked

My main is 16 and even with 3-4 coins + web stuff I still have 50% free.

yes I am going to update the home page and wiki. I have done the OP of here and CCT.  Was waiting for PT to finalize the block explorer and do them both together.

Question for someone who has the knowledge on POS / POW.

What happens when the hashing becomes so low on POW that POS is the only thing securing the coins? Is this a likely event? How secure would the system be then? Can the coin survive solely on POS in a secure manner?

Yes a coin can survive just on PoS. It can be secure, depending on how much coin weight the network has. I still have no plans to remove PoW. Will reevaluate as time goes on.

You can import the priv keys, or just move the wallet.dat

you mean backup and move .dat file then move this file to new vps ??

this will not cause loseing coin weight ??

Correct.  Just shut down the current wallet Copy the wallet.dat to the new VPS. Start the new VPS wallet with -rescan. All should be good.

hi Tranz

can you please write what is the currently valid github source address of hobonickels ?

I am using http://github.com/tranz5/hobonickels , seems to be the correct one but will wait for others to confirm.

yes that one should be just fine.
394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HBN/CAP explorers on CCE expiring on: December 28, 2015, 04:52:41 PM
Hello all. I recently received a note from dreamwatcher. The yearly fee for HBN and CAP on CCE has come due. The fee to renew both for the year is $440.  For just 1 it is 275.

Is this something we want to renew as a community?  If so I need your help. I can not cover the cost myself. I need to raise at least $350 from the community and I will cover the rest.

Due date is the 1st of the year.

To donate for HBN send BTC here: 1GMH9jMKfrDx5ZurAwPqp7gwAerGKiPtFs

To donate for CAP send BTC here: 13Kwcjsprq942Bx3ddYFqzHgHnwdTx2dFw

If neither gets enough, the funds maybe combined to give at least 1 of them renewal, HBN will be first. If the combined total is not enough, funds will be returned.  We'll cross that bridge if it comes to it.

I think Presstab's block explorer is leaps and bounds better than any other and would rather put effort into raising funding to keep CAPs on there (and get HBN added*).  I have fired back up some GPUs to try and mine enough BTC to cover CAPs next monthly payment but not yet actually made the payment.

*HBN is apparently a bit more resource intensive presstab mentioned HBN would require a $30 setup fee and $10/month fee; 6month minimum.

I agree, i find myself mostly looking at Presstabs explorer and not so much CCE anymore.
Combined with the fact that for less than $270,- he is willing to host both CAP and HBN for one year I would suggest this option as my favorite.

Hello all. I have spoke with PressTab, and the good news is HBN will be getting added to the explorer.  We also need to ensure CAPs remains paid up for a year.

So far we have collected only 12 cents.  Shocked We need approx $80 for the year. or around .2 btc worth.

I will cover some myself as stated, once we get closer.  If you do not want to donate no problem. I also have some CAPs for sale on Cryptopia. 1/2 of whatever is sold of my blocks will go towards the explorer.

Thanks all.
395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - High Fast Stake - Version 1.5. Come on in the water's fine! on: December 28, 2015, 04:37:08 PM
I have spoke with PressTab and I am happy to report we will be getting the HBN setup there. We collected ~$100 worth of BTC over the last few weeks. Thanks so much guys! I will cover the rest and we should be good for a year.

Regarding the exchanges here are my plans. I am testing out Cryptopia right now. I have put some decent sized blocks for sale on the site for both HBN and CAPs, anything that is sold at least 1/2 will go towards the buy side and the other 1/2 will be used for explorer and/or other exchanges.

I will be collecting another bounty in both HBN and CAPs to see if that will help get the wheels moving for another site. I'll let you know when that happens.

For now I encourage you to try out Cryptopia, just keep the amounts small enough that if you loose it, you won't be too upset.

Thanks all.

You may want to consider switching over to https://chainz.cryptoid.info/ instead of CCE. It is an amazing alt explorer, very detailed and I believe would cost around the same. Could get bottlecaps on there at the same time. Is this something we can consider or is CCE set for those donations?

Edit: After checking the renewal rate for DMD on https://chainz.cryptoid.info/ it's only $9.99 per month. That isn't bad at all after the initial cost. I hope I am reading that right.

I think that presstab's explorer is a lot cheaper @.3 BTC for the whole year. If an explorer is needed, then presstab's is a good choice.
BottleCaps is already on there. Though it expires December 30th. Sent a PM to Presstab to see how much it costs to have HBN added
and to renew BottleCaps for the whole year.

Not sure why one costs a whole lot more than the other. But, I like Presstab's explorer, and is cheaper too!
As soon as Presstab gets back to me, I will post the pricing info here. I will also kick in some BTC to help pay for it.

Peace, Dennis

LOL,  Grin
Ya must teach me da math , ya usin,
12 month * $9.99 = $119.88

.3 Btc at current conversion =$125.25

Presstab costs more, with less features.

Just Sayin,
AG18

I haven't really quoted prices for HBN yet, but it is priced in fiat and then converted to btc, not the other way around.

Curious also of the features for cryptoid that you feel my explorer is lacking? I can think of quite a few features I have that they dont, so would be interested in seeing what they have that I dont.

PressTab, when you have a min, please send me a quote for 1 year for HBN.
Thanks.

Added another 0.05232258 BTC to the HBN address.

This is nearly as much as the value of all my HBN, but we need to bring things forward. There is too much blabla in HBN-community, "3k Satoshi is holding well" "Rock solid bottom" was repeated almost 100 times, but there is nobody here to bring things forward.
People got used to Tranz doing everything and now we have the tragedy of the common, more than other coins.

I don't care if we choose CCE, the PressTab-Explorer or any other. Whatever is the cheapest. Without a working Blockchain-Explorer, HBN could be removed from Coinmarketcap.

it seems that HBN and CAP community is very weak , only 0.2btc contribution made so far. We are hardly getting any explorer with that contribution

Still a few weeks left. Maybe we will get a Christmas Miracle! I should be able to double whatever we get, so I think we are getting closer.

how much is the cost of a working block explorer actually?
and about the exchange why not to try add to  Poloniex?

Price depends on who is hosting it. Ranges from 250 to 400 a year.

Polo is one choice. They "may" require users give full docs to get an account. So just something to keep in mind.
