41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: ANN: ELIXIR (ELIX) Mobile Lending App Announced (ELIX On CoinExchange) on: November 06, 2017, 10:59:46 PM
On news until the price has not risen, apparently the community is waiting for the finished alpha product.

If I'm reading that right then I'll say the community is waiting for the BTC fork. That's the most important thing in the minds of people right now since whatever happens to BTC is most likely gonna affect virtually every other alt in, as usual, a negative way.

Besides that, potential investors in Elixir who are following it from the shadows are probably waiting for the new website with the team page.

I bought in at 30 cents, can this realistically hit 50 cents in a couple of months?
With updates like this it is not a question of "if" but of "when".

I hope you're right... I think this coin is very undervalued... I'm waiting for a big raise Grin

I think the token is trading at a very fair value for how new it is and the progress of the project.  If their business wasn't related to crypto, but had two developers, a basic website, and the business model that it has, I doubt it would have a market cap of $1.3m.  I had a two person company a couple of years ago with products, intellectual property, an online store, etc and if someone had told me we were worth over a million dollars two months in I would've told them they're crazy.  Let's be realistic here about valuations Wink

Compared to your business it's perhaps fair but when people say it's undervalued, I'm sure they're talking wrt somewhat similar crypto projects with a significantly higher MCAP, probably no product yet or demos, a caged community and a release date well into the future. Two examples that come to mind (which may/not fit those descriptions entirely) are SALT with an MCAP of $141.7M and REQ with an MCAP of $29.4M.
42  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Hitbtc rating? on: November 06, 2017, 03:52:28 PM
Do not be afraid of your coins on HITBTC , I also trade on HITBTC and it always takes about an hour until the funds are deposited to my account wallet . Maybe you have some additional transaction information (TxHash etc.) to show it to their support .

You should be cautious with any centralized exchange. I learned my lesson with Bittrex not too long ago during their account suspension debacle.

As for HitBTC, perhaps my case was atypical but my first and only experience with their support was quite bad. It took them 6 days to respond to a support request and the response might as well have come from a bot. Sure, 6 days isn't as bad as Liqui and Polo's almost non-existent support but it's bad nonetheless.

@ coiner

Ah I hear more speculation on my motives and BTC history of course all totally incorrect. Yet no real explanation. Only that you have a strange sense of what is fair. Because of one shared rule it seems that makes it fair to you. I'm sorry but there is more complexity to life than that.

BTAIM, that wasn't "more" speculation (assuming you're referring to what I think you are), it was simply me clarifying, as you did, my earlier speculation on your motives.

Let me try and give some assistance off of the top of my head....

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 people land on a desert island from a ship wreck you and my good self.

I find a box with 20 cans of food inside... yummy

You find a box containing 1 can of food.

A ship comes a month later and the captain says how have you guys survived. You look a bit fucked up but he is polite and does not mention I am better looking and in far better shape. He initially puts this down to better genetics/breeding etc

I tell them I found a box with 20 cans of food in and these were big cans of very nutritious food (nom nom nom)

You whisper in a croaky feminine voice you barely survived because you only  found a box with 1 can of food in .and it was digusting (oh dear Sad )

Captain says - he will bring us food regularly (but wont rescue us on his boat for some reason, doesn't like the look of you but does not want to be unfair)

He says the fairest way is if I get 20 cans of food each month and you get 1. After all that is what we had before right.

I'll admit the analogy sorta works but it fails at this point because it should be based on the %age of the cans of food we have. Since there should be more cans of food on the island (for it to match the ByteBall/BTC situation), nothing stops either of us from scavenging for more cans of food to increase the %age we receive from the captain. That's certainly what I've been doing since I found out about ByteBall in July/August.

Quote
I wonder if that little story can assist you? I assure you it would if this happened for real. Although being fair i would give you some of my cans don't worry dude.

 Cheesy Thanks.

Quote
Your english is nice. I like it. Your logic and sense of fair play not so much

So question 2. I agree with you.  There is no further need to discuss it. It was a bad move unless tony is in league or colluding with the other projects.

Question 1 is still a big issue for you.

You will never convince people that being a whale in BTC should automatically permit you to get a whale share in other alts for free with no risk to their own whale stash of bitcoins.

Sorry that will not wash. Create a thread on the main board and poll so that I may see how you start to grasp that your version of fair is not fair.

If that's what you've gleaned from my posts up till now then you've completely misunderstood me. Not only am I not saying that, I'm really saying the opposite. If you disagree, feel free to show me how "You're not entitled to anything in an airdrop irrespective of how much BTC you hold" translates to "You should automatically get [i.e. are entitled to] a whale share of an airdropped alt because you're a BTC whale".

I'll clarify it one more time: Whether you have 0.014 BTC or 140 BTC (like one guy that linked his address), you're not entitled to anything in this airdrop. For example, I didn't get my GBB during one of the airdrops because it was apparently way too little and was told to not complain about "losing cents" as they put it. Others too didn't get theirs for a variety of reasons. That said, having more BTC means that you will get more GB than someone who has less and in fact, you'll get it sooner than someone that has less.

Taking from your POW alternative, it's just like Bitmain will always mine more BTC than you ever could with the little mining farm you have. They're not entitled to it, they just have more of what is needed to get it. In ByteBall's case, it was BTC that was needed.

Quote
Your logic tells you that since there is one shared rule for both parties whales and guppy that it makes it fair you are wrong.

But it is fair. I wouldn't complain if I was placed on a race track with another guy but my car wasn't fast enough to beat the guy in the Chiron but I would complain if I was prevented from winning because he was provided a shortcut to the finish line.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🔵 [ANN][ICO][BOUNTY] Aurora IDEX 🔥 Instant Ethereum Decentralized Exchange 🔵 on: November 05, 2017, 10:22:30 PM
I'm surprised to see that this project make an ICO. They already have working dex.
Exchange looks really promising. I hope it will be better than Etherdelta.

IDEX is just the first small piece of the much larger Aurora product offering. Aurora is a fully decentralized financial platform complete with a high performance asset exchange (IDEX), a high performance exchange protocol (Snowglobe, which IDEX will operate on top of) and decentralized banking in our own price-stable cryptocurrency called the boreal. To really understand what we are building and why we are raising funds I highly suggest you read the Aurora whitepaper.

We were able to build IDEX without a big funding round, but to achieve the true Aurora vision we need to expand our team greatly. We believe that the fact that we built IDEX, the most advanced DEX by miles compared to our competitors, without first having an ICO shows that we are a technical team who is capable of achieving great things with limited funding. By building IDEX before raising funds we have showed that we get the most out of our funding and making sure nothing is wasted, an extremely useful skill for founders of a business.

And we're much much better than Etherdelta, just need liquidity  Cool

Hello, as I research more about IDEX, how is IDEX different and better from etherdelta?

Off the top of my head, the most obvious one is the UI/UX. EtherDelta is abominably bad as far as UI/UX goes. Another would be not needing to have Eth in order to trade since they're taking the equivalent gas fee from what you're trading. There's also the fact that it's faster because of their hybrid design. The devs are also very active in the telegram (which you should join if you haven't already) which is also a nice bonus.

Ah I thought as much no ...straight answers just some faux confusion at me not being precise enough.

Riiiight, it's "faux confusion".

Feeling insecure are we?

Some strange bumblings focusing on the word entitled.

You as a btc whale are able to claim whale shares in byteball for free with no risk to your own btc. Perhaps you are not clear on how the distribution went down.

Also, "you as a btc [guppy] are able to claim [guppy] shares in byteball for free with no risk to your own btc". Not every one is equal, tough luck. Perhaps it's you that does not understand how it went down.

Quote
Expand on your answer to question 1. I am interested in the explanation. Are you a trainee politician by any chance.

That is a fascinating tangent. A trainee politician? Hmm, is a relative of yours that?

As for expanding on my answer, it needs no further explanation. It's a self-evident fact that was subtly dished out to me a couple of months ago in their slack (rudely I should add). And if you browse further back through this thread to around the time it was announced the October airdrop would be suspended, you'll see almost entire pages of said fact reiterated.

Quote
Answer 2 -  I will accept that as a 'no ' it was not wise unless you wish to go into greater detail and object to my interpretation of your answer. Unless you are saying byteball and tony was in collusion with lisk/komodo etc

I am. After all, I'm in Tony's head.  Roll Eyes

And you're ofc free to scrap everything before the "no" part.

Quote
The point about what you were "getting about me" - were you not suggesting i had some sour grapes motive for the initial distribution for financial reasons. Actually what i was saying is that if i chose I could prove that I got more the way it went down than if tony had gone for some of my other suggestions at the start. Please look them up if you wish but don't ask me to find them or type them out again.

I was suggesting, and I quote, "all I'm getting from it is someone who was hurt by whale manipulation early on or has an issue with people being rich and, as they usually do, getting richer". If that's too hard for your brain to parse let me break it down:

* "someone who was hurt by whale manipulation early on" - when you started in crypto you probably got manipulated into selling (or buying) by a whale. Weak-hands and such.

* "has an issue with people being rich and, as they usually do, getting richer" - this should be self explanatory. You certainly won't be the first to pop into this thread wailing about rich people getting richer.

Quote
I think you should sit here waiting for me to string words into educational works for your benefit. It is the least you could do for free enhancement. I see that you are not only confused but ungrateful too.

If you're saying simple tweaks could not have made the distribution wider and fairer then that is on you not me. If you think the bb distribution went well then and could not have been done better then that's you view.

Educational works? Grin

And as to what you assume I was saying, it's funny how I alluded to the exact opposite 2 pages ago before you decided to go on your "btc whales!!!" witch hunt. You might wanna try reading sometime.

Quote
I am way better off financially because of the existence of BB and I am grateful. I hope bb makes it to a top 10 or top 5 spot. I still do not like the distributional method. I would hate to see future alts distributed in this way. I will never accept that being a btc whale should automatically enable you to become a whale in other alts with no risk to your btc and everyone else should share the crumbs or have to buy if from you.

You would make some sense if you weren't complaining about something that exists entirely in your head.

Quote
Sorry when people try to tell me that black is white  or that unfair is fair...then I have to say no ..however convincing and determined they are. Not that you are very convincing.

You sure about that?

What you are getting from it is unimportant to me.

If you can not understand the simple points I have made then that is not my issue.

Most people will be able to glean 2 simple things if not all of what i have said.

That's totally on me, I was naive enough to assume you were interested in making a point. As for "most people" gleaning something from you, that "observably", as you like to say, is not evident.

Quote
What you are getting is also provably incorrect since I have gained in large from this distributional model since I linked my BTC at the start and it was a reasonable amount. Although I would not class it as a whale sum.

How does the anything in there "prove" I'm incorrect? Did you even read my post and comprehend it?

I would not assume that always personal financial gain is the motive for all posting here.

You're not entitled to anything in an airdrop irrespective of how much BTC you hold.

Sorry but honestly and not to be rude your replies illustrate you have not understood my points at all and your rebuttals (if that is what they are meant to be) are unanswerable since they make little sense to start with.

I could say the same about yours. No, I do say the same about yours in the very first sentence. And you didn't need to quote my entire post if you weren't going to offer any substantive response.

Please re-read what I have written think about it further and then have another try.

You're going to have to rephrase your post because all I'm getting from it is someone who was hurt by whale manipulation early on or has an issue with people being rich and, as they usually do, getting richer.

I particularly like how he shows it's a real, working app with the Eth wallet QR code scanning and not just an animated bunch of slides. Another Elixirian had that compliant earlier and I'm guessing this settles doubts if they weren't already.

I was wondering what caused the sudden increase pricewise. Very good news devs, thanks for sharing your progress, it's highly appreciated! After the forks this will fly for sure Smiley

How will be the money, collected during the ICO be spent?
There was no ico , only the membership sale

And during membership sale SALT tokens were sold, so it was an ICO.

Or as I like to call it, the totally-not-an-ICO ICO.  Wink

I thought I agreed with you but the more I read your posts the more I wonder what you're even arguing about and your motivation for it.

But why do you see the whales as potential enemies of BB? If I was a whale of BB, I would want the price to go up and not down

What if every new alt was given mostly to whales for free with no need to risk any of their bitcoin stash?

You say this like the non-whales were under different rules for this airdrop. And you're aware that if these whales actually decided to "risk" their BTC, the rise and drop (assuming they're actually responsible) would be far more spectacular, right?

Quote
Even in a fair ICO whales must risk their btc stash to get a whale share of the tokens.

As do non-whales. Your point?

Quote
Whales should get the same as everyone else not automatic whale shares in all future projects for free. The very notion of this is ludicrous.

Er, no they "shouldn't". The airdrop presented equal opportunity not forced equal outcomes. The former is reasonable and the latter is what is ludicrous.

Quote
It is probably the most unfair distributional model other than a full on scam

Really? A surprisingly fair distribution model is unfair to you because "whales and stuff..."?

Quote
It is not as simple as you think either. If a coin is not distributed well and there are super whales these whales control and make the market. Even if there eventual game is for higher prices they can cause huge periods of crushingly low prices and then super peaks when ever they want it is impossible to trade against them really. It is not natural well distributed market forces it is simply the will of a handful of people. Their will is to extract as much wealth from everyone else including other holders of their same alt project by market making.

Didn't Michail1 and ECB above say something like the top holders haven't really changed since the distribution started? You forget the fact that it's very easy to get people to sell off their stuff simply by putting up a fake sell wall.

Quote
I don't see how we are even debating this is a good way to distribute i mean it is clearly not a good way at all.

And your alternative is what exactly? Ban everyone holding more than 1BTC/16GB from the airdrop?

Quote
Same for these BTC forks they are simply a way for the btc whales to get free whale shares in every new alt (these forks are alts until they become the
prime btc)

This applies to everyone holding BTC! The card-stacking is laughable. You keep trying to focus so much on what "the btc whales get" like every other person does not have a chance to get the same thing.

Heh.  Glad I don't have a hymen.... I'm safe, right?

Interesting to see that the price has dipped as usual following the airdrop even though it didn't rise much this time.

Only 13% more - so far.  Of course it's tanking.  All alts are tanking.   Everyone jumping out of alts to buy bitcoin simply because of FOMO.  Not only is bitcoin jumping, but people want the forks.

True. The longer I'm in the crypto world the more I realize great tech, a working product and an active dev (team) does not necessarily translate to price on the market.

We've finally got our last airdrop and price dump is not a surprice at all. This project made us understand that airdrops are not good for coins, and especially when it is more than once. Byteball is a good example for the future.

It's not like ICO's (or "token/membership sales" as some now like to call theirs) are any better. Aside from the legal issues it incurs, there's nary an ICO'd token/crypto that doesn't dump to below the ICO price following a listing on an exchange and a place on CMC. The coins have to be gotten into the hands of the public somehow.

Besides, I've seen at least 3 airdropped projects try to handle this somehow. Someone has already mentioned Bitcore (the most similar to ByteBall) which distributes it on a weekly basis based on how much you're holding and other than the price spike today most likely caused by a fat-fingering, the price has, on average, been trending upwards since they started in April. There's also Hawala (HAT) which bans anyone caught dumping after the airdrop and Elixir which similarly increases based on your holding even though it was a one time thing (the FUD it received due to CMC's sloppiness didn't do it any favors).

But like I said above, "[t]he longer I am in the crypto world the more I realize great tech, a working product and an active dev (team) does not necessarily translate to price on the market". Case in point: Bitconnect/eBTC vs ByteBall/LBRY.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2355922.0;topicseen Byteball's first (poor) imitator! Things are looking good for byteball, all we need now is influx of trolls, after that MOON!

Not quite. EByteBall is the first and they aren't so much imitating as they are adding one more crypto to the ecoin craze that has swept BCT lately. And if it wasn't obvious already, the only similarity between either of those two utterly useless tokens and ByteBall is simply the name and nothing more.

I've left the owner of this website a negative rating for his behavior. Someone should consider legal action as well.

Interestingly enough he has been online since I posted screenshots of his site advertising a literal, literal scam but has it changed? Well, taken today:

I'd be stunned if he doesn't start advertising Ethconnect should they offer him a better deal.

Good move with leaving him a negative feedback, but I think most users will not care..they will continue on with using the site.
The problems here are:
1) Lack of a superior alternative. Let's face it: This website isn't well built.
2) Network effect.

Once the first point is solved, with enough will power of the users and the market, the tides may change.

Spot on accurate.

Even the somewhat subtle changes they've added to the UI of the site recently leaves much to be desired. And unfortunately the competitors, if they can even be called that, like coincodex and worldcoinindex are even worse.

thank you coiner

let me reformulate, if you are a genesis holder, and sitting on a number of EXOR . At the same time, I am sitting on a number of EXOR.
YOU,as a genesis holder with 10 possibilities , you can offer me the chance to join my exors to yours in a batch conversion, and take profit on my conversion,
I mean If I own 1000 EXOR, I will offer 350,000 elix to any genesis holder if he converts my 1000 EXOR to 1350000 elix and give me 1 million elix.
I feel foolish

Now I see what you mean. The thing is, AFAIK, genesis addresses are limited to creating only 10 batches so whether you have 1 EXOR or 1000, it's capped at 13,600 ELIX/genesis address atm.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: ANN: ELIXIR (ELIX) Mobile Lending App Announced (ELIX On CoinExchange) on: November 02, 2017, 12:21:16 PM

thank you very much seriously !

in theory if I understand a tad, if someone owns 1 EXOR today (and genesis owner), could we say it's worth 1350 elix ? the same elix trading on market ?

1 EXOR in the hands of a genesis address holder that hasn't generated any batches yet - each gen address has 10 batches of EXOR, 1 batch = 1360 EXOR - is worth 13,600 ELIX atm.

Quote
I doubt I understood, but if 1 EXOR = 1350 elix, how come in the beginning of this thread traders were advised to send 1 EXOR to an address in their wallet, and get 1 elix automatically ?

The 1 EXOR = 1 ELIX stuff was an example. X EXOR is only worth X * 1360 ELIX if and only if you have a genesis address and use it to generate batches.

Quote
If I could multiply my Exor's by 1350 , why doesn't a genesis owner offer his services for a bunch of EXOR owners and convert a huge batch ONCE with his address pair, and he'll be left with nine other chances , and be rich

Huh? I don't understand what you're asking.

Hi Guys,

New here (been lurking for a few weeks) but decided to make an account so I can start being active and also able to ask questions. I searched on Google and on the forums but since I have been dabbling in crypto for just a few weeks as well I decided asking here since I can't find understand it on their official website. A video would help...

How can you "mine" elix? I understand you need 2 ETH adresses and thats about it...

For me it is quite technical, but I found that the concept is very interesting. Although I don't understand it fully...

Perhaps someone who can guide me to a good guide? Or explain it in laymen terms? Perhaps to much to ask but I have to anyway Cheesy

Much appreciated!

This is what I posted on the elixir subreddit:

Early on in the development of ELIX the devs gave out what are called "genesis addresses" to people, mainly members of the community. People placed bids for these and paid for them at varying prices. Only the owners of these genesis addresses can create ELIX.

A genesis address is a pair of ordinary ethereum/ERC20 wallets, given the label of "child" and "Parent". For each pair, the child is given 1 EXOR token. To generate ELIX, the owner of the genesis address simply moves that EXOR from child to parent, and ELIX will appear in the child address. This can be done no more than 10 times for each genesis address pair. Over time the reward for generating ELIX increases each time a batch is created - at the moment it is approximately 1350, and after 10 years it will be 5000.

It is possible to purchase a genesis address theoretically, however it would involve a lot of trust since the seller would always have the private key and so would also be able to use the genesis address.

Information about current batch size and more can be found here: http://elixirtoken.io/stats.html

so if I own a genesis address, everytime I send 1 EXOR to parent, I have 1350 elix ? I am sceptic it's not , but if so, then all that long squeeze is logic

Slightly inaccurate.

Every time you send a non-zero amount of EXOR (it need not and shouldn't be 1 whole EXOR) to your parent address it generates, currently, 1360 EXOR in your child address. You then send that 1360 EXOR to the address in the OP and 1360 ELIX is sent back.

why do genesis addresses exist ?

Because the dev wanted them to? And they're responsible for the creating the current ELIX supply.

was genesis address price reflective of the ratio/price of ELIX ?

There was no price (not until the bid anyway). It was gotten for free.
