41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitworks 8 GPU 4U rack mount mining rig on: January 07, 2017, 12:18:07 AM
Is it possible to get it with only 6 GPU for example?
or 4?
I have some of my own cards I'd love to add to this, then get rid of my more open air design.

I've been thinking about that as of late, hit me up in PM with exactly what you are looking for and maybe we can work it out..

Trying to run 0.95.1 on OSX 10.10 with the provided binary, on startup it's failing with "ImportError: cannot import name sha1", I assumed the bundle had all needed modules, or are some pulled from the system? I haven't run down the reason the import is failing but thought I would paste in case it was a known issue.

Is it just me, or does the front view of that case look almost identical to the Backblaze Pod designs?

It sure does, since the owner of the Backblaze design pulled together my case with me.

Interesting statement, since Backblaze has been using that front design for quite a few YEARS now on all 6 of their Pod designs.

I'm not sure how you read my statement given your response... Yes they have been using it for years, and they pointed at that design as a starting point for my case so that is what we did...

No i mean the converters do exist, but on the msi gaming 5 if you are using the M2 slot the PCI-e 5 is disabled, so that wouldn't work i think.

this is what I was not sure about, if using m.2 disabled a PCIE lane or just some sata ports.
still might get one to try for the fun of it though Smiley

Anyone figure out how to get 8 GPUs on the MSI Gaming 5?

My power supply supports 9 PCIe power cables, be awesome If I could fit 2 more GPUs.

You cant off the shelf. Im the one that designed this system with Padrino. My personal prototype systems are running 10 GPUs of a Gigabyte board. It requires very low level changes to how the board BIOS operates.

Mind if I ask what method you used to get 8th GPU running? I've tried PCIe multipliers, but it still maxes out at 7 GPUs.

In Windows at a guess? That'll be your problem, i'm sure in Linux 8+ will be fine with a splitter.

You need to modify the addressing on the system to handle 8 GPUs on Linux or Windows, it won't boot out of the box that way but with some work it can be done.

Airflow does not look very intelligent.

Nearly impossible with actual Intel x1y0 Chipsets (design-issue).

... just my 2 Satoshis.

Grin PanneKopp (all made in germany)

Good questions, on the airflow the temps stay quite good actually, the fans are high static pressure fans and push air through the system without much problem, the highest ambient they have run in this far is about 95F, not recommended but they handled it fine..

You are right on the chipset, which is why it does not use any chipsets from that series.

Our client from Venezuela pays us via paypal. If we buy btc it will have to be through paypal

If your client pays you via paypal why cant you just withdraw the cash and source BTC paying GBP?

Dont see why you would need to pay for the bitcoin using paypal.

Something doesnt seem right here, tread carefully

apologies I know this looks suspicious Sad

I've agreed to escrow btc as this seller wants and up to him whether he sells or not now.

The reason being is client pays in $$$, post-brexit that means even less pounds and because our currency took such a hit it means even less btc as the brokers in the UK have had to raise their prices

Regardless. I've completely agreed to escrow btc solving any issues this seller has Smiley

Our currency? You have me lost given this statement,  if you are not the sole owner of www.newminerigs.com your partner certainly is US based. I say that because asking people we collectively know to vouch for you, yet implying quite directly you are British has me lost.

You cant off the shelf. Im the one that designed this system with Padrino. My personal prototype systems are running 10 GPUs of a Gigabyte board. It requires very low level changes to how the board BIOS operates.

How have you started 10 GPUs? My personal record is 8 at the moment. And I want to start 12. What OS?

You can run 32 cards from one Motherboard using Linux Zcash miner under Ubuntu and a combination or risers and PCIE-X3 splitters. Not sure why you would want to, but you can.

Even with pcie switches how are you compiling the kernel for 8+ gpus? Much less bypassing current mobo restrictions to get over 16 gpus?

There are multiple things in play to have systems support large numbers of any PCIe card, GPUs of various types require different addressing so the specifics depend on what you are doing but in short it's a combination of the motherboard itself, the OS' ability to handle the cards/addressing, the driver (fglrx or amdgpu), Xorg, and the application using the GPUs. Currently I have 16 GPU systems as my maximum in development, the 8 GPU system has been on the market for a few months now.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Different brands Reference Rx 480. Vastly different power consumption/VDDC on: December 18, 2016, 05:29:12 PM
You have a fundamental problem with the testing, GPU-Z doesn't provide the overall power usage of the card, you might want to check both the bus and pixie with a meter..

With that said if the XFX is like Sapphire, as others have mentioned, it will draw more with a VDDC offset in the bios

bump, one card left
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The World’s 1st GPU Integrated Miner Is Lauching PRE-SALE! on: December 06, 2016, 12:56:48 PM
Interesting product no doubt.  Couple of questions that may have been answered already.

How much Ram and what type is used?
What type of BIOS is used on those cards?
Is the BIOS modifiable?

Last and most important, the efficiency vs hash rate seems pretty crappy.  I am getting 2000h/s at under 1000watts total for a regular 8 GPU rig at about the same price (maybe slightly higher but also double the hashrate).  Why is the efficiency so bad when the 480 chips are obviously undervolted/underclocked?

Thanks

how much ram and what ram is one question i have written down to ask

bios are already modified for efficient mining, this I have already found out, but I need to find out more, like how exactly was it modded

about efficiency I will ask and reply back when I find out exact details.

These are 480 MXM parts so the card layout and setup is different than off the shelf PCI-e 480 cards, Take a look at the available MXM parts for an indication...

If anyone has a Hitman or Civilization VI code they want to sell, PM me.  My son would be most appreciative Smiley These games have been bundled with 470s and 480s recently. I'm not buying hardware A.T.M.  Waiting to see what happens with the 490s.

I have plenty of Hitman codes, sending you one via PM.

I would like 4 of the $8.50 risers please.

EDIT:  You wouldn't happen to have any longer than 30cm would you?

I should, I'll check my stock.. In the meantime PM your zip and I'lol get you a total with shipping.

59  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Beaglebone Black (Jupiter Controller) KNC Titan Firmware & Build Instructions on: December 04, 2016, 04:18:26 AM
any custom firmware for titans???

I added support for custom overclocks if a Titan is plugged in, Neptune and Jupiter pickup the padrino firmware overclocks as well.. The big win here is support for running the Titans with a Beaglebone, no RPi and no bridge board required.

You could contact gen tarkin and ask how he licenses his stuff for sale with a code etc locked into the Titan's say BBB etc

then just sell them to folk who get their own BBB imho ..you probably would make enough at the front end ..then chasing the price down on what you need in BTC

on this...as the A4's come out and swamp the scrypt world....ie what I mean is....dropping your price chasing this may not work as well for BTC up front as

just selling the stuff in some manner above NOW for a price you can get for those interested...

quite frankly at the LTC increase in difficulty and the slow slide of all scrypt coins..this could all be kinda  moot by Feb 2017 or March 2017 at this rate of FUD and price.

Anyway ...folk would buy such now and worry about their own BBB to install it on...I'm not sure what kinda interest you will get on this IF complete Titan units

start dumping on the market again at greatly reduced prices due to the above

anyway my view for what it is worth..you SHOULD have tried to get that BBB price last summer you could have got your 10 BTC at that point..now er ..not so much imho Sad

All good points, I ignored it for a long time when it was sitting here working.. Its a long shot but figured I would dump all of those controllers I have left, Titan cube, etc. alongside the package itself and see if anyone, or a small group end up grabbing it.

I'm doing it since I am focused on my GPU miners right now and don'5 want to somed time working with Tarkin on pulling things together, but maybe it will backfire and I just shelve it all for good.. It took maybe 120 hours to get it all sorted out, but it was a good project..
