1021  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Hacking The KNC Firmware: Overclocking on: June 20, 2014, 03:45:39 PM
i try This Firmware in my October 5 boards and work well ... 820 Gh/s but after 5 min its down to 680-700 Gh/s

some idea of what happens?

You need to look at the bertmod output (assuing you are using 1.01.1-padrino) at the bottom of the status page and see what cores are shutting off, I suspect you have a board and/or some cores across a couple of boards that you cannot push quite as high as the others... If you lower it you should be able to stabilize the system at over 800Gh/s provided you don't have a compltely bad board or some dead VRMs...

I now have 5 boxes running, but 3 boxes have 2 DC/DC's not working   Angry

They show: DC0 =  0.0035V 0.0000A 0.0000W  25C

Does anyone know the procedure to kick them ?

Generally speaking that means the core those are tied to is not coming online.. Do you have the option to raise the voltage? If so the kick procedure is to basically up the voltage temporarily to get it to turn on, if it starts hashing you can then turn it back down..

A power down, and new restart did the work... all cores are OK now.

But I noticed that, a few times some of the boxes stop Hashing completely (others keep running).... then a restart CGminer brings them back again.... I think there are still some bugs in the driver software...
But no support today  >> looks like KnC is on Swedish holiday.

The LEPA 1600W PSU is close to capacity, as others said if it keeps happening definitely try to put one board on another PSU to see what happens..

In addition the LEPA 1600W only exposes 4 of it's 6 12V rails via the PCIe connectors so even with separate cables at least two of your boxes is sharing a rail unless you build a custom cable to pull from 12V1 or 12V2 vice 3-6, which are all you touch across the 6 red PCIe connectors..

The one downside of canceling my Neptune is I do not have a resource to hack on and make a firmware like I did (currently 1.01.1-padrino) for the current systems.. Running November boards at 250Gh/s (250W)  with about 1.5Th/s at the pool for a 6 prot, wonder how far the Neptune ASIC can be pushed..

It's a shame but given how hard the single PCI-E connectors are being pushed already I don't think there will be much room for overclocking.

Indeed: the "Advanced window" has a Mhz select-list: from 50 to 500 Mhz..... but default is 475 already.

The current systems are not much different, the standard firmware only allows 1000Mhz for the November systems, 900Mhz is stock... I capped my custom firmware at somewhere around 1600Mhz and with a quick cooling mod most run that way, hoping for similar results with these once it can be hacked on..

I was thinking the same but if they are like the old boards they actually have space for a second connector on the PCB, I currently mod VRMs and other goodies on the boards, dropping in a second PCIe connector will definitely be needed..

I push 250W via one connector on the current boards and have one on my desk that melted the connector and the cable together.. If the new ones run 300W stock it's crazy, I would however lean toward LEPA PSUs for trying anything as they run thicker wires for their PCIe cables and try and drop in a second molex..

If they designed things similar to the current chips we could potentially see 4.5-5Th/s with a Neptune however with the VRM configuration on the Neptune boards I am wondering how much headroom is left, there simply may not be too much to work with on these boards..

Would love to inspect a board and look at the stock voltage/amps being pulled..

You could use snapcard to buy from places not accepting BTC directly.. I used it to purchase a new iMac from Best Buy and the service was great!

Payment received so the 6Th package is off the table.. I have another 3Th but i am holding onto it for the moment..

It's definitely sketchy, and perhaps in some countries illegal since they are formally asking their customers to run a Power supply significantly out of spec to the point where it is a fire hazard. Perhaps they ran through things with legal and have confirmation that they will not be liable if there are issues, but it puts customers in a tough position.

do you have photo's your KNCminer?? Why you selling it?  Smiley

Added picture...

I am running low on space and need to move some of my hardware, good opportunity to catch up on some repairs around the house as well.

if that's the case, you got an interesting offer. PM me.  Smiley

If you want to buy then PM me an offer or post in the thread.. I don't want to discuss any sort of partial sharing arrangements or anything..

I have not found any words in planB terms that says we will lose "two for one program"

And looking for news where all that was stated before we can see that "early adopter" must get "hash while wait" AND "two for one"
If they will do "hash while wait" OR "two for one" - seems that knc is goin to scam their early users

they tried. seems we were just a tad to intelligent to fall for it.
I would thank the folks that bothered to read the T&Cs and ask questions for that, seems like using your logic many here was not that intelligent..

1035  Economy / Computer hardware / [SOLD] 6Th/s of KNCMiner Gear with PSUs on: June 19, 2014, 02:36:34 PM
4 - 6 port KNCMiner systems each running at 1.5Th/s, PSUs included.. At the card level the systems are pulling 1W/Gh, at the wall it's approximately 1.1W/Gh.

3 systems come in Jupiter cases with the extra two boards packed separately, the 4th is 6 boards plus controller and will need to be setup on a shelf.

18 BTC for the lot shipped to the lower 48 via FedEx ground, I will also support Paypal if someone needs to pay in fiat however verified Paypal account required, Friends and Family payment...

No problems with escrow via Danny or another trusted escrow provider, or btcrow.com

Picture of the gear..

How about 6.5BTC for the lot?

No thanks. Guys, don't bother lowballing me with half my requested asking price. I'm only selling them if I can get what I paid back, otherwise I am infinitely better off mining with them.

I wasn't sure what to make of this thread because I recall your thread about receiving them with most broken. Are you saying of the 6 you received 4 work reliably?

Yep, just 4. The rest are in parts and pieces. I've got 8 non working (tested to the best of my abilities) modules, two extra PSUs. One of the PSUs won't work with a North American power plug because the power jack at the back of the PSU is of a square shape - likely meant for European or Asian markets. So yeah, not a fun buying experience for me.

Sorry to hear about the troubles..

The power connector on the back of the PSU is most likely a NEMA C19, not specific to the EU or US market and actually widely deployed in the US, primarily for higher current server PSUs (or the LEPA 1600W as a consumer example).

Bump.. Still looking... KCMining and I came to a deal on this gear but apparently in the end he sold to someone else although we agreed on a deal...

I extensively audited the code and have reverted it sorry, but have given you plenty of comments as to what needs to be fixed if you wish to resubmit.

Thank you for considering the change in the first place!

I agree that change need more work so I'll rework the change and resubmit.

Very interested in seeing how this progresses and interested in picking it up this week in whatever form it is in for some work I am doing, be sure to drop a BTC address, a donation is definitely coming your way..
