Has this coin forked yet?
yes and as far as i know was it a success

Cool, attacks? anyone got a node up and running solo mining?

43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are altcoins holding back blockchain development? on: October 25, 2016, 08:51:19 AM
Most of these alts are only a database.  They are not even PoW blockchains.  Eth is not a blockchain, nore; MAID... or do i have much certanty over many others. Etc will stop being a blockchain in about 5 hours time. Not sure about Monero it's so secret.
BURST looks ok.

I think many will fall very soon and the value will go back to Bitcoin and Litecoin.  Future development will be ON TOP of these because increasing bitcoin blocksize is pointless unless it is a move to a blocksize of 100MB. Why that big?  Thats how big it needs to be to compete with Access and Visa. That is not going to happen. 2MB is pointless. Bite the bullet and get used to bigger transaction fees as oneday mining will end. We could also fill the blocks more effectivly.

So altcoins are holding back blockchain development! YES, in bitcoin.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: October 25, 2016, 08:28:24 AM
sorry, but i can't read a lot of pages to finde an answer.

will etc hard fork like ETH because of the "spam problems".
if yes: when?
if no: why?

thanks for the answer

Yes,

at block 2 500 000 (in about 5 hours)

Polo market seems a bit negative on things?

Sorry man it worked for me. You have to select ETC only.  Do you have both ETC and ETH on the same node?
Anyhow, the NEW WORLD HACKING GROUP are hitting the Western world hard at the moment. Sites are crashing all over. It will get worse on the run up to the US elections. MARAI... No one will get a node up in ECT.

Everyone quick... get some tin foil and rap it round your head and hide under the table.  Cheesy

Keep you bitcoin in cold storage.  Shocked

anyone has some free ether i can have?
if you can solve the geth node sync problem.... maybe.

I wanted to send some coins to an exchange, but i only got this screen. (for hours)

When I launch the application and send coins it keeps 0/12 confirmations.
What's wrong?

(I send and receive coins a few weeks ago without any problem)

I am same problem my wallet no sync (2,240,484) how to solve this problem?

Hi guys, I'm on mobile right now but I also wanted to suggest joining our slack channel ethereumclassic.slack.com for quicker assistance on various topics. I think you may be experiencing issues due to the ETH fork that just occurred. Do you have your public and private keys for your wallets backed up somewhere?
Hi,yes I have.

Join or slack?  Cheesy  give us your email address more like!  Why not just come out and say it.
but when you have been infiltrated by the intelligence service, its no wonder.... you can't....
Because you follow so called Theoretical Physicists that have worked as cryptographers for known governments for many years and want to see this project fail or at least have control of it.

i have been trying to fix this issue for over a week. You cannot! you will have to wait until 25th

If you want to get ETC off your geth wallet,
use https://www.myetherwallet.com/#send-transaction

as it allows you to upload your geth UTC keystore file. (you will find it in user/AppData/Roming/Ethereum/keystore) Just remember to select ETC only.
It will also prompt you for the "password" you used when you set up your geth account.
By far the safest way to get ETC off your frozen geth. Just send it straight to a pre arranged shapeshift address to cash out in BTC or LTC, (no BURST option yet.)  Wink

This time when we fork. We must be mindful of who wants control.
Hi,it's possible Send Transaction ?
Yes the above description is how to use https://www.myetherwallet.com to Send Transaction from a frozen etc geth to another address.
Hi,---» Kraken & Poloniex: No known issues. Use whatever.
Well there you go, use https://www.myetherwallet.com to Send Transaction from a frozen etc geth node to Kraken or Poloniex.  But you will need your UTC keystore file and your password. Good luck.

oh well it was fun while it lasted. onto the next shitcoin waves or lisk anyone?

Why should the fun end when there could be another chain up for grabs?

"The Ethereum development team officially postponed the execution of EIP150, a hard fork designed to increase the gas cost of transactions, setting the target block to 2463000."
REF: https://cointelegraph.com/news/experts-criticize-ethereum-hard-fork-coinbase-warns-network-instability

We are currently at block 2450803 on the ETH chain (at time of posting)
It looks like coinbase will support the most stable chain.

Anyone fancy mining ETC2?

Welcome!  https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereumunlimited/new/  do get ready please!

If Charles is behind it, I'm behind it.  CHARLES HOSKINSON is a tech head before he is a bread head.  And he has a beard. That's good for me. Moreover, i love new shitcoins  Smiley

However, although i am happy to support ethereum unlimited but,... and here it comes....  do not start thinking i will support bitcoin unlimited.

Chandler Guo is supporting?

Thank you for offering this option.  I will hash for ethereum unlimited on the 25th. Please link me to a ethereum unlimited mining pool and a working wallet or info on setting up a node to solo mine?  My node ETC geth will not sync and has been that wary regardless of my efforts for over a week.

Haven't really got into ETC since I support ETH since the start. but is it true that ETC is currently being used by the Chinese these days?
I'm kinda surprise by what was said by someone who actually mentioned this in the ANS thread. Any confirmation please.

chinese mining pools i know of have about 1/4 of the network

Total network hashrate is ~ 500 Ghash/s

https://www.f2pool.com have 11.9 Ghash/s
http://91pool.com 100 Ghash/s

LOL

Few weeks ago you where totally into ETC and now when you can't send a tx you say ETC is a shitcoin just a big LOL, did you even checked on other blockexplorer like https://gastracker.io/tx/0x21be26a7ee5c22b8fefc4d86e391bd21be46ef985b9dca0c1da24ae6012331ad  its seems like it got confirmed , if you sent it to an exchange contact them about this problem

Looks like http://91pool.com/#/ lost their US server. All miners inside the great firewall are still mining by the look of things.

Its seems like 91pool is down , the miners need to set up failover pools on their miners , thei can use coin miners or epool as a back up , the payouts are disabled for the moment on https://ethc.coin-miners.info/#/ until the network get more stable and i will set up the pool fee from 1% to 0.5%

91pool back online

Ethereum currently have blocktimes of up to 50 seconds and a very high uncle rate, when is it our turn? https://ethstats.net/

What affect this hard fork?
ETH, ETC, REP... Huh

Hard fork for EIP150 gas cost changes successfully activated

3  ethereum ETH  $ 12.7477742 +6.52%

5  ethereumclassic ETC $ 1.0264320 -4.03%

 Roll Eyes

Pathetic performance from ETH.  They fixed their attack issue (for now) and they still can't maintain a price of 20 mbtc.  I sold all mine 6 days before the Dao attack at 24mbtc.  We will never see those days again. Or those difficultiy values.

Moreover, ETC should be losing miners with these low prices. ETC mining revenue is not increasing with the price fall as it is picking up the smaller miners from ETH as they struggle to make money.  Lets hope Bitcoin stays low for the momment so I get more bitcoin on my daily cashouts.
And I can't even get a node to solo, All i have is a centralised pool and a centralised client side wallet to use. So I am constantly at the mercy of third parties. Until that changes I will never hold this coin longer than 24hours after minting. This was not what crypto promised.

Boy we need a new PoW GPU coin to mine while PoC HHD is gaining momentum.

Monero is not was it was for mining on GPU although I still have some CPU on it,
feathercoin has too small market cap and no upward price movement.
The Groestle family are no better in the market cap dept.

I have all this hardware and no decent coins to mine.

Crypto is like TV. It's the 21st Century, we have wide screen HD 5.1 surround sound, the very best in hardware and no good programs to watch.  Just fake news, rigged elections and a ringside seat to military slaughter of world citizens.
At least the old RF analog TV had good programs and shows.

Lets hope the chinese can come up with an ethash ASIC at a good low price.

Barr humbug....

Everything you wrote here is exactly how I feel, especially "have all this mining gear and nothing to mine".  The only difference is, I'm still using an old analog tube tv!

There are many that feel this way.

Does anyone want to speculate who's behind the attacks?
It would have to be someone or organisation familiar with this new programming language (Solidaty), have substantial financial resource in the way of Ethereum tokens and, feel threatened buy the existence of a new currency and world programming platform.

They would have to get hold of ethereum tokens to pay the gas for the attacks so they either have lots of mining equipment, move a lot of currency through exchanges or were on the inside the foundation and had pre-mined tokens.

It must be someone or organisation that sees ETC and ETH as a threat, although ETH have had the worse of the attacks. Or... was it a Vitalik ploy right from the start to put up the gas price.

Are miners providing a live testnet for the banking sector?

Statement On The Hardfork To Address Spam Attacks

https://www.reddit.com/r/EthereumClassic/comments/57ipia/statement_on_the_hardfork_to_address_spam_attacks/?st=iugldwg2&sh=ad442f17

Hi everyone,
Very busy day for statements it seems but the silver lining I suppose is that lots of activity is much much better than no activity. My feed has been filled with some misconceptions by outside a parties about this protocol improvement so I wanted to state the following:
This is a protocol improvement.
This protocol improvement is very much aligned with our principles of immutability.
It has been stated by many since day 1 that protocol improvement is 100% acceptable.
The discussions taking place are about the pro's vs con's of doing it sooner as opposed to later.
General strategy and dev advice leans towards later. (Block 2,500,000 about 1 week 10-25-16)
A simple course of action recommended for ETC geth users by /u/bit_novosti
Use classic geth release (http://github.com/ethereumproject/go-ethereum/releases)
Upgrade to the latest classic geth release available at the above link shortly before planned hard fork date (2016-10-25)
For ETC parity users: continue to run parity, update to latest parity version prior to 2016-10-25.
For light wallet users (Jaxx, classicetherwallet): no change needed.
Update #1
Discussions with ETH on gitter have taken place. They are updating their release to warn users not to use their geth if users want to stay ETC.
Please voice your opinions about this matter, discussion leads to better decision making. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
Cheers

I have no issue with a protocol fork, lets get on with it, hay?

I have installed classic geth release (http://github.com/ethereumproject/go-ethereum/releases)
2.0 and 3.0 will not sync.

With Jaxx, you cannot see a transmited transaction before it gets a conformation. Moreover, you cannot reuse addresses so no good for pointing mining equipment to it.
classicetherwallet has poor security.  Do you want me to post some random private text keys alongwith their coresponding ETC addresses and a "how-to" to prove it?  How many do you want? I'm not gonna post mine (even though i empty it daily) but i will pull some at random if you wish.  How about a bounty?

Try using this stuff daily!

If you want to get ETC off your geth wallet,
use https://www.myetherwallet.com/#send-transaction

as it allows you to upload your geth UTC keystore file. Just remember to select ETC only.
It will also prompt you for the "password" you used when you set up your geth account.
By far the safest way to get ETC off your frozen geth. Just send it straight to a pre arranged shapeshift address to cash out in BTC or LTC, (no BURST option yet.)  Wink

Blind Faith?  Wink  When i see mass adoption i will believe.
I believe these attacks are from the established banking sector and powerful Rothschild type people. Maybe they are pulling the main strings here.

Poor Vitalik, nobody told him you have to become friends and ask for permission to be rich and famous in this day and age.
They, (whoever the faceless puppet masters of the petrodollar are) are not great fans of competition.

59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have 1 btc which Alt coin should I buy? on: October 18, 2016, 01:13:20 AM
Why sell bitcoin and by some other cryptocurrency when the price of bitcoin is so high and rises constantly. I don't understand.

Stick with BTC, simple. You only deserve to lose investing in altcoins.

Like the people above have said. Hold your bitcoin.  Spend some time learning alts and watch people lose their money over the next few months while you watch BTC rise along with oil prices and power prices.

If you fancy a flutter.  Get yourself a little BURSTcoin.  It uses very little power to mine as it uses HHD instead of GPU/CPU/ASICs, it has smart contracts and messaging too. It's a real outsider at the mo so plenty of time to get in, no rush, just ride the BTC upward trend and watch BURST closely. Buy in a few months time if you think it has performed well.  It is the future because it is so green.  Wink

Forget Litecoin unless you go out and buy an ASIC. These ASICs are designed to mine more efficiently than a PC.
If i had your hardware i would...

CPU mine Monero.  This pool is good with low power cpu and has links to an easy to use miner  http://xmr-pool.com/.
Here is a list of CPU coins with how-to if you fancy something different  http://cpucoinlist.com/
Check out prices at https://poloniex.com/

GPU mine either Ethereum or Ethereum Classic but be aware both networks are under attack.
I would currently go for ECT. 91pool.com is working well at the mo as is this wallet https://classicetherwallet.com/

Have a look at https://whattomine.com/

You can also use your hard drive to have a go at mining Burstcoin. Plenty of info out there but you need at least 2.5TB to have any effect.

But i would be looking to CPU, GPU, and HHD mine all at the same time on 3 different coins/algos and run the machine to its max.

Good luck.

Also, you need to be posting in the mining section or you may get your post took down.
