Rand Paul: ‘If You Want to Help People, Give of Your Own Money’

Addressing the Syrian refugee crisis, Republican presidential candidate Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said the United States should pause the program as he urged the public to remember the difference between charity and taxation.

“There’s a difference between charity and taxation and, sure, I have a great deal of sympathy and I have helped through our church with helping refugees – that’s charity and something you give voluntarily. But to say, ‘Oh, we are going to bring them here and put them on welfare,’ well, that’s not charity, that’s not humanitarian, that’s you saying, ‘Oh, it’s great to give somebody else’s money.’ Give of your own money. If you want to help people, give of your own money,” he said in response to a question from PJM before a Students for Rand rally at George Washington University.

Paul argued there are problems with the screening process of refugees that needs to be corrected and there are other issues to tackle on U.S. soil such as veteran homelessness.

Trump-Paul would be a dream team. Drive and direction.

Trump Calls For Auditing the Fed (Keep your bulletproof vest on Donald!)

The GOP frontrunner said it was important to audit the Fed and even called out his rival, Sen. Ted Cruz, for skipping a vote on Sen. Rand Paul’s “Audit the Fed” proposal back in Jan.....

Someone just put a carrot in front of the Ron/Rand Paul supporters.

I'll give him one thing, he's smart. He can play the game quite well.

He is a rebel billionaire.

He has funded investigations in Obama's birth certificate. This was a very unpopular thing to do then. This was years ago.
His bank is 'Bank of China', not 'Bank of America' or any American bank.
He said there were no WMD in Iraq and mentioned the secret 28 pages that were removed and classified from the 9/11 report and that he would expose them if elected, analyst say those 28 pages directly link the Saudi government with the hijackers and that Bush protected the Saudi government.
He was against the war in Iraq and said it would destabilize the middle east.
He has poked many billionaires and lobbyists in this race, even go as far to threaten them to expose them, even yesterday, he called out the Rickets family, who own the Chicago Cubs.
Basically, he is Bernie Sanders but a rich Bernie Sanders and not a socialist and who don't have to say 'Madame Secretary Hillary Clinton'.

If you look into it, he has rocked the status quo and if not elected, he has the most to loose because he has upset many billionaires and rich people in the process and even politicians.

Why do you believe someone who was led by nothing but greed his whole life could take care of you and your country?

Maybe just ask him. He talks about it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vjAKrh4Oys

Lol!
"I'm greedy so I wanna be greedy for you"?
That's not how it works xD

What in life do you do that isn't driven by greed to some degree?

Arts, the time I spend with my wife, the numerous discussion about politics I have with my friend and all over the internet, my political engagements in my town and my company (not only am I not pay for this but I pay the fees like everyone else).

All these things, you probably enjoy doing. They're all driven by Self-interest even as they affect others too. Everything is connected.

Self interest has nothing to do with greed! Otherwise of course everything is drived by self interest.

Why do you believe someone who was led by nothing but greed Self-interest his whole life could take care of you and your country?

Okay then. Tomatos, tomahtos.

We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita. Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says, "Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds." I suppose we all thought that one way or another.

Actually Oppenheimer said that with regret, as a bad thing.

"What do you do to stay in touch with your employees?
I inspect the Trump Tower atrium every morning. Walk into it … it’s perfect; everything shines. I go down and raise hell in a nice way all the time because I want everything to be absolutely immaculate. I’m, totally hands-on. I get along great with porters and maids at the Plaza and the Grand Hyatt. I’ve had bright people ask me why I talk to porters and maids. I can’t even believe that question. Those are the people who make it all work …. If they like me, they will work harder … and I pay well."

"Then what does all this-the yacht, the bronze tower, the casinos-really mean to you?
Props for the show."

"And what is the show?
The show is “Trump” and it has sold out performances everywhere. I’ve had fun doing it and will continue to have fun, and I think most people enjoy it."

"You categorically don’t want to be President?
I don’t want to be President. I’m one hundred percent sure. I’d change my mind only if I saw this country continue to go down the tubes"

From Douglas Adams, "It is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it... anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job."
...I'll take it.

Yeah and only the welthy could afford any of those, the other ones were just dying in the street.

Though in the case of the USA, I have to admit it didn't change this much...
Such is the natural process of life. A secondary market for many of those things continue to be developing. Knowledge and increased connectivity/cooperation continues to optimize costs. Now nearly has access to transportation etc. If the wealthy who are in the position to utilize resources to build those things, didn't build them to satisfy a demand in the market, we'd be progressing a bit more slowly.
Wonderful so now humanity goal is to take example of natural process? Whaou, me who always thought that the first goal of humanity was to get elevated above nature and its rules... Seems I've been wrong my whole life!

Yeah so America managed to pay the army with donationsHuh Wanna make me believe this??

I'm just giving an example of how it's possible to have an army without involving taxes.

In the Revolutionary War, one could either move West or be free to affiliate with a colony and be voluntarily subject to their own tax laws, laws of which they would presumably have representation with. For the colonists, they decided that it was in their best interests to raise armies against an oppressor who they felt impeded their personal growth.

But too often we pay armies through debt.

So I've watched some more of Trump's appearances, and I've concluded that he does have a number of good qualities:
- He probably actually believes in what he's doing
- He probably actually doesn't have ulterior motives
- He will probably be mostly opposed to war and foreign entanglements
- He will probably try to reduce taxes and eliminate many regulations

But also some worrying things:
- He believes very strongly in protectionism, including tariffs and currency manipulation, which would have negative effects on freedom and the economy. Not sure how negative - maybe very severe, maybe not so significant.
- He believes in "freedom" to some degree, but not nearly as much as even many Republicans do. He might pursue anti-free-speech policies, etc.

It's likely that all other mainstream candidates except maybe Cruz are even worse, though... And Trump will probably have quite some difficulty actually getting anything done when forced to work with congress (this is very good in my book).

Some libertarians say that Sanders would be the best because he'd be good on foreign policy, absolutely ineffective at actually implementing his socialist ideas due to Congress, and a better "straw man" for libertarian arguments. But I'm not sure that I'm convinced.

I have the same view of Trump. Though, a lot can change in the next few weeks/years.
412  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Up Like Trump on: February 16, 2016, 03:43:13 PM
Actually, Trump, right along with all the other candidates, is a detriment to society. The only possible candidate that might have done anything good was Paul, when he was running. Why? Because none of the candidates except Paul have any thoughts about shutting down the taxation system, and the Federal Reserve Bank.

Taxation is legalized robbery. Robbery that is legalized is still robbery. This means that it is unlawful, even though it is legal.

If people want government to do something, they should be able to donate, and get a receipt that shows where their money went. It shouldn't be stolen from them to be used for things that they don't want done.

IN OTHER WORDS, as long as there is a taxation system, the rest of it doesn't matter. Political BS is all BS. Taxation rules no matter who wins. If there was a President who dissolved the Federal Reserve, and got rid of taxation while replacing it with a donation system, only then might the position of Presidency be useful.

Smiley

No tax... So you have no tax funded country right? Because without tax you have no tax funded election, no tax funded government, no tax funded military, no tax funded police, no tax funded schools, no tax funded hospitals... Nothing Voluntary everything.

FTFY

Cause you have a no tax funded government or military? If you don't pay them through tax how do you do then?

Voluntary contribution i.e. noncoercedly paying dues if you find it in your interests to do so.

Illegals out! Enforce the laws ON THE BOOKS!

Just recently they fired Americans that ended up training their replacements at Disney.

Pink Slips at Disney. But First, Training Foreign Replacements.
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/04/us/last-task-after-layoff-at-disney-train-foreign-replacements.html?_r=0

I wonder why they did that?  They work for less money?  That is why I am becoming more and more against other races.  The ones who want to come to america and be here need to live like Americans.  Others that want to be of their nationality need to go to their nationality.   Everything needs to be equal and there would be no problem.  I once lived in an apartment building where the apartment behind mine had 8 Mexicans from mexico living there.  They were nice people paid what I did in rent but worked for less.  They didnt shop at any of our local shops they had a deivery truck stop once a week with discount food and sent all their extra money back to Mexico.  It was like they were playing our system.  Which if they were hurts the normal working people.  I do not mind other nationalities.  But be far about it.  You want to live here.  Live like we do.  Struggle like we do.  I have lost jobs because of this.  Because they were willing to work for much less.  That is why I hate this.  Live like us if you want to be here.

Hey, we're all people here.

If some people are willing to work at a lower cost than others, then those who are not willing to work for the same amount (+ the resources saved from having the more efficient people above) are now free for other processes in this little circle of life. Global optimization.

"Change is certain. Peace is followed by disturbances; departure of evil men by their return. Such recurrences should not constitute occasions for sadness but realities for awareness, so that one may be happy in the interim."

They work for less because they don't pay any taxes.  They like to be paid in cash, or if you pay in checks, they take them and immediately cash them.

In many cases, "Working for less and not paying taxes" means their net pay is much higher than that of the American citizen who "Works and has taxes taken out of his pay."  Each time socialized services expands, and taxes go up and benefits go up, this gap widens...

Does the employer not benefit as well? Aren't resources more directly distributed to optimal targets by bypassing the politico-economic friction?

There's usually some reward to risk. Anyone can work/risk under-the-table jobs if they wanted to.

America needs a change.   Trump may be it.  All other forms of government have failed.  Lets get him in a see what he can do.  You know he will stir up something.  May stir up more then any other candidate will.  As he knows what he wants and more then likely will not care how he gets it.  One that does not care if he is politically correct.  We need change.  Im willing to give him a try over all the others who have been in politics.  He is new.  Isn't politically corrupt yet.   lets vote him in.   Cant be any worse then Obama.  How much can he really screw up in 4 years.  May turn out to be the best prez we ever had.  who knows.   im up for it at the moment.
