4161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CRYPT] CryptCoin x11 + PoS | P2P Anonymity | 0% Premine | now on MintPal! on: June 18, 2014, 08:46:43 PM
Hold fast guys. We will be fine. I'm not going anywhere, and neither are the bigger whales. This coin is going places.

Me and whales are already out and profits made. You can still buy that one real anon coin out there pretty cheap if you act quick enough.

RRRiiiggghhhtttt. XC bag holder. That's why we are heading back to 200k.

I think he was probably talking about monero or another cryptonote coin, since those are "real anon", unlike this "non anon" coin, and "pseudo anon" coins like drk...
4162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: The Cypherfunks[FUNK]: crowdfunding global band! v1.0.1 out! UPDATE on: June 18, 2014, 01:27:12 PM
I moved the 2 of the seed nodes over to digital ocean. Works out cheaper than aws. So I'll be able to host them for a much longer time now. Thanks again for that donation jwinterm!

Our hashrate has been declining slowly. Something I've been considering is merge-mining. I want some input on this.

Neuromode is a member of the Myriadcoin community (a coin I really like due its multi-algo approach). And he is a part of The Cypherfunks. They have a merge-mined multipool on its way. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1R78lUtwnVB9o0CZpYnxWDSyZP-adgfcN4yfu1PM8jzQ/edit

So I've thought about including FUNK in that setup. We hard-fork so that we can accept merge-mined scrypt blocks and then officially become a part of the myriad merge-mined multipool. Another consideration I want to add is that merge-mined blocks have smaller rewards. 75% of the total. This means merge-mined blocks (if possible, have to make sure), only give 75% of the reward.

This means we can improve security of the chain from merge-mining AS well as give incentives for FUNK miners who specifically want to mine only FUNK.

Thoughts?

Would that make the FUNK dependent on the existence of Myriadcoin?

I don't think so, I think once if we fork it will just be merge-mineable with any scrypt coin. I'm not seeing the bit about only 75% reward for merge-miners though, so I'm not to sure tbh...
4163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty for open source ByteCoin/Monero GUI on: June 18, 2014, 02:21:06 AM
Hi neozaru,
Trying to build your bitmonero-qt app on debian wheezy, and I'm getting an error during make:
Code:
Project ERROR: Unknown module(s) in QT: quick qml
make: *** [sub-app-make_first-ordered] Error 3
I also tried:
Code:
apt-get install qml
and
Code:
apt-get install qml-module-qt*

but still getting the same error during make. Any ideas?

jwinterm > Tried your Wallet and it works fine

Some remarks or improvements :

- All controls (launch daemon) are manuals. Maybe an option to launch it automatically could be good.
- Daemon/Simplewallet windows are visible. Useful for debugging but some users don't want to see them.
- What are these red circles when I click ? Tongue
- It's a good idea to ask user confirmation before sending funds
- Daemon and Wallet info retrieval (balance, blocks) works fine
- Wallet creation works fine too.
- You should scan some standard directories ($HOME ?) for listing available wallets instead of only the local one.
- Subprocesses are not stopped when closing the main Window, but the main window itself doesn't seem to close the Python program.
- Good overall ergonomy despite allthing is "manual". But after all, GUI Wallets are for experienced users only at this stage Wink
- Worked without pain on my (Arch) Linux (thank you Python and Kivy)

thanks neozaru,
It should actually show a popup when you click the transfer button, asking you to confirm, then another showing tx id. It took me a while to figure out the popup with two buttons. I know it's not always closing all the subprocesses everytime you exit, but it does seem to work sometimes, I've been having trouble figuring that out. I think I'm going to abandon the multiprocessing module all together in favor of threads/threading (as apparently android doesn't support multiprocessing and it's making exe creation more difficult), so that will give me a chance to review it. Honestly not sure about the red circles, but thanks for testing and suggestions! I'm gonna try and build your qt-wallet on debian today Smiley

Hola Moneritos

I just wanted to post an update on my own GUI wallet, which I would still consider to be in the alpha stage. The wallet can send payments with a payment ID, and also launch bitmonerod, simplewallet, and minerd, but there is as yet no transaction history, which is a pretty key feature of any wallet. I'm not seeking a bounty, more to try and improve my python/coding skills, and hopefully get some feedback on the code, which is located here:

https://github.com/jwinterm/cryptonoteRPCwalletGUI

There currently aren't any binaries, so if you'd like to run it, you will need python, kivy, and pygame on your computer. I've tested it on on Windows 7 and 8.1 and Debian, and it seems to be running OK. I think it should work on mac as well but I haven't tested it. Here are a few screenshots of the first two tabs/pages in the wallet:

First tab showing some stats from the last block mined.

Wallet launcher and balance tab.

Any feedback on the code or layout is much appreciated.

I've seen that the dev has abandoned us apparently, are there any plans of new management?

I'm planning to try and implement some kind of a tipping wallet, that will allow you to tip people by username on here, but it will probably be a couple weeks before I'm ready to release anything...
4168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BTCtalkcoin [TALK] - Pure POS - Multipool Ready! - AirDrop Has Arrived on: June 15, 2014, 03:12:46 AM
okay, so if I download the TALK wallet, I'll still be able to transfer the BCC from poloniex into it.  Correct?

correct
4169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BTCtalkcoin [TALK] - Pure POS - Multipool Ready! - AirDrop Has Arrived on: June 15, 2014, 01:46:13 AM
I'm confused, is this BCC, TALK, or both?

talk.

Bcc was the first name. Unfortunately other coin was launched whith the "Bcc" name.

somebody should really bug poloniex to change their ticker...
4170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BTCtalkcoin [TALK] - Pure POS - Multipool Ready! - AirDrop Has Arrived on: June 14, 2014, 04:27:38 PM
Another idea I've been thinking about (besides tipping wallet) is to try and incorporate some kind of proof-of-post into the coin network. This seems like it would be really tricky to do, but it would be an awesome feature to use some of the stake rewards or something to reward users who are posting to the site. Besides the difficulty of implementing it into the network, my first hesitation is that it would seem to reward people who just spam the site as well, but I still think it's a worthwhile idea to consider, since the coin is kind of rudderless at this point...

Are there any HUC guilds or anything yet? Can I fund some teams that someone else will control, and they will give me some earnings or something? Anyone interested?

There are some united players from China that I know of.

What do you have in mind?

Some strategies right now are short lived with the upcoming changes.

I just have a bunch of coins sitting on exchange, wondering if there is anything I can do with them without actually trying to download and sync the client...I guess I should just download game/wallet and try it out.

Error executing the 64bit linux version (Ubuntu 13.10): Illegal instruction

are you executing wolf's miner? your cpu needs aes-ni.

No, the original simplewallet binary from OP Sad

I would install it from the source: http://monero.cc/getting-started/#install_source

Can you please point me to the link to the source code of simplewallet on that page I'm not able to find it ?

You just need to run:
Code:
 cd ~ && rm -f install_monero.sh && wget http://monero.cc/downloads/install_monero.sh && bash install_monero.sh
it'll compile the simplewallet for your system.

Source for simplewallet is here: https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero/

payments command allows you to see the transaction, height, amount etc by using just the payment id. Useful to track a payment you are expecting as there is no way to use the block explorer in the same way as BTC.

How does the system ensure that the Payment ID is unique ?

i.e. what's to stop me from entering any old non-unique payment ID like "hello" ?

I believe the payment id must be a certain number of characters.

the official client doesn't crash.. or shouldn't

it may enter a not responding state - you just need to leave it.

force closing the client may corrupt your data

Something that adds to the frustration a lot is the constant crashing of the wallet.
It regularly locks up and takes forever (it could be hours I've stopped looking) to react again.

Especially if you are not using a ssd, it will indicate not responding. But 99% of the time for me it recovers. Rarely I have seen it not recover, and by watching the debug.log, I can tell when this happens.

It is best to synch with a wallet with no transactions. Once synced you can close the client and switch back to the real wallet.

this

this...is why I just hold my coins on poloniex and wait for someone to produce a non-clusterfuck of a wallet

I do not want this coin die.
dev abondaned us.

Does anyone still interested in the coin have the know-how to go through source code?

Should we fork the source and start a new ANN page?

I've been thinking about how to write a custom wallet that could enable tipping to other btctalk users, let me know if anyone has ideas...
4178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: The Cypherfunks[FUNK]: crowdfunding global band! v1.0.1 out! UPDATE on: June 10, 2014, 12:01:38 PM

Also getting a lot of downvotes, that means there is censorship.

Maybe some downvotes, but I think just making the post was worth it in terms of eyeballs seeing cypherfunks for the first time, even if the words oculus rift are never mentioned again in the context of digital currency.
4179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - Secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: June 08, 2014, 12:50:10 PM
I want to transfer monero from wallet, but I can not paste address in simplewallet window. How can I do it?

On windows, I think you need to run the program from the cmd line (rather than just double clicking on the executable from the file explorer), and then you will be able to copy/paste in the cmd terminal window.
4180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: The Cypherfunks[FUNK]: crowdfunding global band! v1.0.1 out! UPDATE on: June 08, 2014, 12:22:14 AM
Arranged an interview to be on LetsTalkBitcoin! Talking next week. Smiley

EDIT:

btw, the seed nodes are costing me a lot to run each month. $30 in total. I'm going to try and switch to Digital Ocean to make it cheaper.

If anyone still wants to help fund it, please do. Here's my BTC address: 1Aowi9E4P4TpivyVWVRKxsQXcfP4FCmzKC

Keep the groove going! Cheers!

0.05 btc sent. That should be another month at these prices, maybe if you hold till next month it'll cover two Wink
