If they're saying they already have ASICs for it, I call bullshit. he probably means fpga and lyra2 code has been out for a while, assuming he works full time on ltcgear, it isn't impossible (gpu farm might also be a solution)... I guess will see at launch... Yeah, he might have FPGA code. A big might. But an ASIC? No. What would be some ways to avoid even FPGAs (assuming he isn't just selling a ponzi scheme and that it actually matters)? Use AES-NI like cryptonight? Use a giant scratchpad like wild keccak? I don't think anybody want vertcoin to become cpu only... (because that's pretty much what would happen...) Boolberry (wild keccak) is definitely not cpu only. Afaik it's much less cpu friendly than cryptonight. |

Is there an API for the block reward too please? You should be able to easily calculate from blockheight: Block reward halves every 967680 blocks (about 48 weeks) and it's currently 1000 MYR, so... |

Am I understanding this correctly, Basically 1GH is running the Cryptonite network? It looks like that pool solves almost every block. Seems like a nice pool but this strikes me as a big problem.
I know Bitfreak had doubts that p2pool could work with XCN but if there is any technical way (totally above my head) to make it work then that seems like it would be the best solution. I don't understand the technicalities of implementing the system but Cryptonite has seemed much more likely to be able to adopt the more decentralized pooling system (as apposed to Bitcoin) from an end user point of view because the blockchain is so much more manageable.
This pool issue is something which needs to be rectified and I'd hope someone smarter than myself could make that solution be p2pool.
I think maybe part of the issue is that most people use Claymore's GPU miner, and I think maybe that miner only works with 1GH pool. |

You're looking at the addresses, not wallets, but it's not a huge difference, so let's say it's 10 people who own 1/3 of the currently ~30B ZEIT in circulation. From the same page, you can see that there are currently 8275 wallets with some ZEIT balance, so this means that 10/8275=0.0012=0.1% of all ZEIT is held by 5 to 10 people (or fewer). Now, comparing with the USD, from random internet site #1 ( http://www.ritholtz.com/blog/2011/10/forget-the-top-1-look-at-the-top-0-1/ ) we find that the top 0.1% of Americans earn 10% of all income, however egregiously unfair this may be, it's less unfair than Zeitcoin, where the top 0.1% will earn 33% (or more) of all income, since you will stake in proportion to the amount of ZEIT you own. In terms of wealth distribution, from random internet site #2 ( http://blogs.lse.ac.uk/usappblog/2014/10/29/the-explosion-in-u-s-wealth-inequality-has-been-fuelled-by-stagnant-wages-increasing-debt-and-a-collapse-in-asset-values-for-the-middle-classes/ ): Emmanuel Saez and Gabriel Zucman find that over the past three decades the share of household wealth owned by the top 0.1 percent has increased from 7 to 22 percent. Again, this appears to be a horrendously unjust situation that has gotten worse over the past 30 years, but again, this isn't quite as inequitable as the distribution of Zeitcoin currently (0.1% owning ~33% of all "money"). Afaik the two main tenets of the Zeitgeist movement are to move away from a money based economy and to use scientific principles to administer the new resource based economy. And while we are at it I have watched the Zeitgeist Movie. It is not original. There were others before it. I've watched Peter Joseph many times in interview situations. The interviewers are normally well-disposed towards him, but some become increasingly despondent, and seemingly dis-illusioned by some of his answers. They are, on the whole, kind towards him, perhaps because they want to believe he has the solutions to the World's ills. Here's my take on Peter Joseph in a nutshell: He starts off by saying that humanity is imperfect. He then talks of all the ills in the world. When interviewers try to narrow him down to solutions, he comes up with some that some would consider impractical, naive, unworkable - perhaps cock-eyed ... I'm struggling to find the right word here. When this unworkability is pointed out to him, he then say that he agrees by saying of course it is impractical and that he pointed out at the beginning - that humanity is imperfect. Rather than discuss Peter Joseph with you I would much rather do it with him. There are far too many people re-interpreting the thoughts of others into fossilised dogma. You go and chase your tail if you want to, but I will leave you with this piece of advise Wittgenstein gave to one of 'disciples' who wanted to be a great philosopher like him and to play around with words: Wittgenstein said don't bother. Get a job. Get married. Have Children. In short, I don't have to support my understanding because it is my understanding. It stands. It was not the main point of my conjecture. It was an attempt to state something without assuming absolute authority. Do you understand? The main point of my post was simply to clear up a possible ambiguity i.e. to make it clear to others that the Zeitgeist Movement leadership is not the same as the Zeitcoin leadership. Just to be sure you understand. You do NOT have to give up your private keys to USE clams. It's just a regular old alt coin as far as usage goes. You DO have to provide your private keys in order to DIG any clams. This is the processes you use to claim your clams from the initial distribution. Yes, I understood that. The problems remains: private keys have to be used. So, like I mentioned, if you don't trust the client, then the solution is to move your coins to a new address/wallet, and then you can import your private keys from the time of the snapshot and there is nothing to worry about. I myself have been too lazy to do this up to this point, but I'm planning to do it soon. |

You have to import your private key (that held coins at the time of the snapshot) into the CLAMs wallet. I haven't done this yet, but from what I understand it should be safe, however, best practice would be to transfer your btc/ltc/doge to a new wallet, and then you can import your private keys with no fear of anything fishy (clammy?) going on, since all your coins are in a different wallet. |

ALL of the increased hashrate is from moneropool, which doubled from yesterday's rate which had been relatively constant for a while, and the catagory "unknown + minergate" whose rate goes from almost nothing to huge regularly so it's difficult to know what that means.
I wish minergate would put up an api to get their pool stats. If not, then maybe over xmas break I'll figure out how to scrape the number off their webpage. It's a little tricky because if you just request the page you don't get the hashrate number in the data sent, there is some javascript magic, but it can't be too hard to figure out. Edit: Just realized that if you click the Monero link on their front page (minergate.com) it takes you to bitmonero.org, which has some links to (very) old binaries and the (very) outdated github repo of bitmonero-project. Those guys...  |
