3521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XMR change your fee from .1 to something realistic on: October 17, 2014, 04:34:10 PM
Check to see if the source code just checks for fees or actually checks for minimum fee amounts. Change the source minimum, recompile and see if it sends.

You would need to mine your own blocks if you use a fee less than 0.1 XMR, as I'm pretty sure all of the major pools will only accept transactions that have a fee of 0.1 or greater. If you look through block explorer you will see occasionally (not sure how much anymore) a tx goes through with a lower fee because the block is mined by some pool or solo miner running an older version of the daemon, but they are very few and far between.

EDIT: Devs are really busy with Friday 17 announce.

That sucks :/
I'll try and contact him again I guess...

That's nice, but could we get someone to fix up the subreddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/darknote/
As someone on IRC (I think) so eloquently put it: "It looks like it's written/moderated by a Kazakhstani fisherman."
Can we get some links in the sidebar? CSS? Moderators that English not Engrish?
I PMed the moderator, /u/crispyaromatic, who I presume is dNote, offering to help how I could, but got no response.

why price are falling down? i remember it was 0.0011! and now only 0.0004!! Angry

It was down to 0.00015 just a week or so before it got pumped to 0.0012 or so, and back in June it was over 0.003. Cryptocurrencies are volatile by nature, more so when you have a relatively small market cap and people throwing up then suddenly removing 100s of btc of buy walls. Deal with it Cool

What would the reason be if I'm not listed here?

your coins in a exchange

No, in my monocle-qt wallet.  I haven't synced it in a while, does that make a difference?

Not if you had more than 2300 MON in one address last time you opened your wallet. Also, they all have to be in the same address, not just in your wallet, so if you got some from exchange and some from mining, that could be why.

They are from mining so that may be why.  Is there a way in the wallet to check which address the MON are associated with?

Maybe if you've been solo mining. I see mine from p2pool. Anyway, just open qt wallet, go to help --> debug window --> console, and then type "listaccounts", and it should show you each account/address with its corresponding balance.

3530  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero Support on: October 12, 2014, 05:56:17 PM
So for example lets say i have a balance of 1000.  I sent 300 successfully, however next time i attempt to send it says i can only send 12.8 moneros...  even tho that these are OLD coins.

Some of your coins may get "locked" after a transfer, but they should become available within a few minutes/blocks, I think.
3531  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: October 12, 2014, 05:50:42 PM
Clearly he meant 22 lunar days, since we all know that monero is going to the moon Tongue

Quote
With respect to the stars, the Moon takes 27 Earth days, 7 hours and 43.2 minutes to complete its orbit; but since the Earth-Moon system advances around the Sun in the meantime, the Moon must travel further to get back to the same phase. On average, this synodic period lasts 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 3 seconds.

So by my calculations, the attack should be happening sometime in late 2015 or early 2016 Smiley
3532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: October 12, 2014, 05:08:40 PM
You are correct that there are certainly multiple possibilities to explain the cycle.  But, your examples, like your "few cpus and gpus at school" are likely too rare and diminutive to account for the roughly 6 or 7 Mhash difference between the "base" hashrate of ~20 Mhash and the peak of ~27 Mh.

Maths:
If a rather decent CPU or GPU can hash ~300 h/sec, let's call it 333.33 h/s for simplicity. So, 3 processors can produce 1 khash. So, 30 proc's produce 10kh, 300 proc's produce 100kh, and it requires roughly 3000 processors to produce 1 Mhash.

With my (optimistic) example of 333.33 h/s per processor, roughly 20,000 CPU's and GPU's would be required to account for the 6 to 7 Mhash difference.  That is not going to come from a few students' educational rigs.

(multi-core server CPU's can hash more, but 333 h/s is roughly equal to a mid-range 8-core Xeon)

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I'm not saying you're wrong, and I can't explain the recent jump up to 27-28 Mh/s, but I would note that it's been as high as 30 Mh/s in the past. One explanation I've heard for the daily oscillations in the hashrate is that someone is mining with a rather large botnet concentrated in one geographic area, so the times that you see the network hashrate drop down every day correlate with the night time of whatever geographic location this botnet is in, so when botnetted people are turning their computers off for the night, that's when hashrate dips down.

official schedule:

Derive appropriate initial memory and cpu levels to roughly match the current level (8/15/2014)
Implement the new algo in all the wallets including mobile (10/15/2014)
Run final testing on testnet (11/15/2014)
Final release to mainnet (11/30/2014)

without communication from DEV the price will fall again to 0.00011000 - 0.000140000

The dev spoke at the hashers united conference yesterday, btw. Here is link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVXPFVl0r0M

Quote
Summary of what he says: (sort of) He believes that for altcoins, working to get away from ASIC miners is critical to altcoin success. In Vertcoin's case they are planning to fork into Lyra2 soon. Important aspects of a good quality coin is good intentions, good team and good execution. Another member of the panel from a cloud mining/mining website reflected on how the development team for Vertcoin is great. I don't want to butcher the Vertcoin developer's name so I will omit that. Heavy (Thai?) accent, but I had little problems making out what he was saying. Gentlemen-like in that he was always paying attention to who is speaking so he could move the table mic over a foot or two. Nothing really new here, but cool to see one of the developers!

who sell at these prices ....? can no longer pay their electricity for mining Angry  Angry  Angry

Network
Hash Rate: 27.05 MH/sec
Block Found: about a minute ago
Difficulty: 1701572249
Blockchain Height: 257768
Last Reward: 13.7911 XMR

Perhaps someone has access to their companies server farm and is 'borrowing' them for a little XMR mining? Tongue

Gee, ya think?
Something along those lines is the general consensus, I believe.

There are other possibilities as well. I have a few cpus and gpus at school that I own, but don't pay power for. Also, not everyone's electricity rates are equal. I'm pretty cheap here in Texas (0.08 $/kWh) compared to Europe (I think more like 0.30 $/kWh for the most part), but I think in parts of western Washington State electricity is as cheap as 0.01-0.02 $/kWh - in the wise words of The Black Sheep, "you can't beat that with a bat".

Is this coin already part of the jl7777 network?

Yes

and in your opinion why is the price plummeting?

Price is plummeting because someone had 200+ btc worth of buy walls up to 0.0007 btc or so on poloniex, and after the "announcement" was cancelled, all buy walls were pulled. Now there is a total of about 20 btc in buy orders on poloniex, ergo, price goes down. If you trust in the coin tech and developer, buy some while they're cheap. If not, then sell at a loss I guess...

I have noticed that i am unable to send despite having a positive balance

Code:

I have more than 12.8 avialable

I think the issue is that you're trying to transfer 12.8387 + a fee of 0.1 XMR. Did you try and transfer 12.7387...?
