421  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If not a "store of value" or "medium of exchange" ... on: September 28, 2019, 10:08:32 AM
Bitcoin is an experiment at creating decentralized digital cash. That's it, but people have gotten so blinded by it's exchange rate etc they forget that. Given that however, has it been a success, a failure or is the jury still out on it? IMO, with the direction it's been going, after a few more halvings and the inevitable consolidation in mining starts to occur, the decentralized aspect will fail unless they make some sort of significant changes. Let's not even talk about how as time progresses, it becomes more and more like the mainstream financial sector with the governments taking more "control" of it through regulation. Not like it matters what it is or isn't or whether it will succeed or fail. Just enjoy making money from it for as long as you can and you can stop worrying about all that.
422  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: The Jet Cash interesting financial videos thread. on: September 28, 2019, 09:42:21 AM
I don't see how this is the most serious of serious threads which is what this area is supposed to be for. Seems more appropriate for "off topic" or something.
423  Other / Meta / Re: THEYMOS - we want open debate on how YOU are on the wrong path here. on: September 28, 2019, 08:55:13 AM
This must be a very important thread if BCX thinks it's worthy of his time... hmmmm. Now we just need Spoetnik to make an appearance and it will be confirmed.
424  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Be careful of Bitcoins giveaways that are too good to be true on: September 27, 2019, 05:54:17 AM
Ponzi schemes like this, also known in that area as things like HYIP. i.e. the old "talkgold" forum (which closed down a couple years back), had been operating running these types of scams since way back in like 2004 or so. The only people that ever made money from them were those that got in and out right when they opened. Some actually would last for months but in the end, they would all collapse, reinvent themselves with a new name and site, and run the scam over and over again. I see those sorts of programs are still all over the place and have shifted to include crypto.
425  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: What is giving Bitcoin its value? The ultimate answer is: Skin in the game. on: September 27, 2019, 02:25:07 AM
Very good article. However, you should have defined up front what sort of "value" you're talking about because you are making an argument for purely a financial value. It used to be this space was about much more than financial. The "value" of bitcoin and others were in some core ideals of things like decentralization, "anonymity", being an actual currency etc. But things have drifted far from that over the years as people realized they could become rich. Now everything in this space is purely about money. KYC? Regulations? In bed with bankers, corporations? On and on this space has drifted farther and farther from the core and now, and as each day passes, is nothing more than an extension of the global financial/governmental institutions it was intended to set itself apart from. I'm still hopeful that one day some coin will come along and be my "holy grail" that I would seriously want to put some real skin into as opposed to just use it for financial gain. But until then, no coin has any "real" value to me beyond what financial gain I can get from it.
426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: September 26, 2019, 09:54:52 AM
But I’m guessing LTC will moon hard next year.  Probably $1500+ [~$70 today].
Why? i.e. Based on what?

Every time I take my node off-line the market shows Delayed, tested it a few times over the last few days && am not able to keep a node up 24/7/365.
Is it possible to run this on a Raspberry Pi which may resolve the issue? I know other people run staking POS coins on that.

So he's basically the Tom Vu for this generation? Has he done videos yet of himself on a Yacht surrounded by bikini clad girls telling everyone they're a loser?
430  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: March 06, 2018, 09:30:46 PM

I just did this. I had previously emailed the NZ Commerce Commission and they never cared to even respond, so I modified my email and sent it to FDRS.

I'm quoting my email here in case it helps anyone else pile on.

That's a brilliant idea. Sure fire way to bring the government etc into things and risk getting them shut down and have everyone lose their money. Bravo!
431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.10.0 on: March 05, 2018, 09:50:26 AM
Hello everybody. Do not insult people. Sooner or later DogeCoin will cost $ 1. If you do not believe this is your problem. Good luck to all.
-------
lol , seem they are some people too fools to think that this will reach ¨1$ lol..
The highest BTC price doge every hit at it's peak was around 230sat. So IF it were to hit that again for some unlikely reason, AND bitcoin reached around $435k... Then sure.. You get your $1.
432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.10.0 on: March 04, 2018, 09:30:07 PM

Shhhhhh... Dreamers etc don't like reality. Not like they'll listen anyway. In all the time I've been here they never have. Instead they slink away when it turns out they were wrong.

I'd certainly be happy to see 20 sat again - but buying all the way down - I only buy extra when the price drops below 32 sat - but IMO that's pretty unlikely over the next couple of months - DOGE seems pretty strong right now
What data are you looking at that makes you believe it's strong? What I see is bitcoin going upwards the last few days while doge is dropping. I certainly don't see that as "strong".

I'm looking over a longer range - IMO 50 sats is a good price for DOGE given the total supply
So the fact that Doge has historically been in the 20-30 or so range for years, and that in the last few months it pumped alongside bitcoin makes you think it should be 50. Interesting. Well I guess we'll all see.
433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CLOAK] Private, Secure, Untraceable & Decentralized Digital Currency on: March 04, 2018, 08:59:51 PM
If I remember right Cloak was one of the first altcoins to get a massive pump by bobsurplus (correct if I’m wrong) but I do remember trying to follow those boys around and had a hunch about cloak and entered fairly early into their pump. Man those were the good old days, when you mentioned bitcoin and people said wtf is that. If I knew then what I know......
Yep, you remember correctly.

The 20 sat dreamers should probably consider that many things are different in this cycle:

- The dev team is working again, with a new client update available (https://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/comments/7yhdtr/official_114_alpha_2/)
- The Ethereum-Doge bridge has made significant progress (https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/7q187v/does_this_mean_the_dogeethbridge_is_finally/)
- Large growth in the community since last year
- The amount of Doge for sale on the major exchanges (Poloniex + Bittrex) has decreased by 2/3 from 8 billion to under 3 billion since last summer
- Spring is a season when crypto rises

- The dev team is working again, with a new client update available - True, it is a positive movement.Hope they will release beta version soon.

- The Ethereum-Doge bridge has made significant progress - Well,it is much more ETH than DOGE project. They use DOGE just as a suitable vehicle during experimentation phase and the project goal is to make easy swap between ETH and other coins.

- Large growth in the community since last year - There are no any relevant data about it.It is hard to believe due to loss of chinese traders

- The amount of Doge for sale on the major exchanges (Poloniex + Bittrex) has decreased by 2/3 from 8 billion to under 3 billion since last summer - Unfortunatley it is not result of increase investing, but due to loss of chinese market which consisted 2/3 of DOGE market. After chinese government ban in September there were massive sell of DOGE,plus DOGE lost biggest exchange BTC38 and few other smaller chinese exchanges too.As you look at this year pump ,volumes are about 2/3 less than in previous in May.Positive is that korean exchange Upbit becomes more and more relevant market for DOGE,but it will need a significant time to compensate loss of chinese market. If DOGE lists on Binance and/or some japanese exchange it will be great.

- Spring is a season when crypto rises - Will see,but it is true that in late spring May-June markets becomes more interesting.

Shhhhhh... Dreamers etc don't like reality. Not like they'll listen anyway. In all the time I've been here they never have. Instead they slink away when it turns out they were wrong.

Particl scam coin now doing good job Sad Sad Sad

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1835782.660

Particl is coming to the Ledger Nano S   Sad Sad
Not sure why anyone here would care? I used to like ShadowCash but them basically closing up shop to move to Particl made me not want to have anythign to do with them anymore as they can just so it again and again. Not to mention all the stuff behind the scenes that was going on like having discussions with PnD type people.

Should wait to buy at below 50sats, then selling above 70 sats, continue to wait for the new circle. Earning money is easy like that.
Are you dreaming my friend? Dogecoin might hardly to drop below 50 satoshi again. This one used popularly in many gambling platform. That's one of the main reasons why it is still survive many year after launch and after devs abandoned the project. It's funny project at beginning, but still survive over time.
Not dreaming my dear friend, look at the price today
Dogecoin's chart on coinmarketcap.com (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/dogecoin/)
Why does ppl still keep thoughts that mining still be profitable while it seems trading is more easier than? Even participating in the gambling matches would be easier too.
Mining is required in order to keep the network secure. Doge wasn't doing so well in that aspect which is why they introduced merge mining with LTC. So people can use their equipment to merge mine both which makes it profitable. Without a secure network, the coin would die and no one would be able to trade it at all.
438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.10.0 on: March 04, 2018, 04:00:29 AM
does doge wallet stake or mint after mature?
Doge is POW, not POS. So no.

Ok so how does that work and what is the cost and returns?
You "mine" the coin in the same way you would mine litecoin, bitcoin etc. I think LTC and DOGE can be merge mined. The cost is how much you spend on your mining equipment etc and electricity costs. Returns all depend on the price at the time.

Can someone explain to me how the hell you're supposed to use this exchange without BTS? i.e. I can't even find how to buy BTS on there with any major coins like BTC, LTC etc.

Edit: Nevermind. Some appeared when my deposit went through.

why has the website got a link to Binance?
I wasted 4 minutes logging into that shit to find no Litecoin Cash trading available there  Huh

and then i log into YoBit...

ho-hum....

so I log into crypto-bridge and lo and behold... not a $5 coin.
who'd have thunk it that coinmarketcap could tell such lies!?  Shocked
In what way is coinmarketcap lying? They simply aggregate the price from all the exchanges the coin is being traded on. Not being able to deposit does not play into that calculation if it's being traded.
