hold on, i think i need to reread these rules:)

It was a super secret rule: If I win my own bitcent, the first person to claim they were going to put in a thousand or more bitcoins wins.

The rule was so secret I didn't even know it until you caused it to take effect!
443  Bitcoin / Project Development / A service like bitcoinnotify.com on: December 21, 2011, 11:45:09 PM
Does anyone know of any other service like bitcoinnotify.com? I used it while it lasted and it was quite helpful.

Basically, what it did was allow you to set a number of confirmations at which it would email you for any payment made to any bitcoin addresses for which you asked for notification.

It's been down for a week or two now.
444  Other / Off-topic / Re: Totally Off-Topic! on: December 21, 2011, 11:41:27 PM
what could be more off topic in the bitcoin forum off topic thread than talking about bitcoin?

BUY BUY BUY SELL SELL SELL

(thanks to all those users that contributed to this post)

I'm so confused. Do I buy or sell? This is going to keep me up tonight unless you give me clearer tips.

My tradehill API ticker died for like 6-12 hours yesterday (or the day before i cant remember) but it started working again.  It just said "timed out" instead of showing prices.

Yeah. Mine started working again too.

448  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: AAQ (Actually asked questions) for Spend Bitcoins on: December 21, 2011, 11:36:19 PM
if i want to buy something on ebay with paypal money,

you would send me paypal money with a 2.9% +0.30$ fee

then i would send my money to the seller, again another 2.9% +0.30$ fee?

When you send me bitcoins, you become my friend and I send you a personal gift of PayPal USD (no fee). Smiley

Then, on eBay, the seller generally covers the fee.

EDIT: PayPal was very selectively allowing us to send as gift, so the 2.9% + 0.30 is now being charged by PayPal for all orders. The seller still covers the fee when you send it to them.

Thanks. I'll have a look at that in the morning (my morning). In the meantime, got it working again with the Tradehill api.

JUst start over buddy.

I may do a third round. But I'll let this one go on whether anyone cares to enter it or not since I can't edit the OP.

I don't know what you're talking about.   Huh But, I like where this is going.  Grin

Hmmm... "notme". Interesting choice for a username.... Hmmm...

My old account was compromised and I never bothered to reclaim it.  Unfortunately, the scammer used my name to scam some people, so I decided to warn people in case it happens to this account  Tongue.

ROFLMAO!

I've been self-censoring myself on these forums ever since the mybitcoin debacle and subsequent rampage against Bruce Wagner.

You see, I'm naturally a heavy ellipses user... But I don't want anyone to think I'm Bruce Wagner! I catch myself typing "..." all the time and then deleting it. I guess it was a good habit to break anyway... But I still have to hit that backspace key three times a lot it in most posts. Smiley Hopefully no forum bad guy turns out to be a heavy " Smiley " user because that's my other bad habit in text.
457  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Having trouble grabbing bitcoin price on: December 20, 2011, 11:29:23 AM
I use this code to grab my current rates on http://spendbitcoins.com:

Code:
<?php
$a
=ouvrirpage("http://mtgox.com/api/0/data/ticker.php");
$res=(json_decode($atrue));
$last round ($res['ticker']['sell'], 2);

echo
$last;

function
ouvrirpage($site){
$ch curl_init($site);
curl_setopt($chCURLOPT_USERAGENT"Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1");
curl_setopt($chCURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER1);
$res curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
return $res;
}

Hmmmm.... I don't know what to expect because I had someone here write this code for me for a 1 BTC bounty. :)

$a returns "redirecting you to http://mtgox.com/api/0/data/ticker.php" and $res doesn'
t seem to return anything.

At any ratedon't be fooled by the fact that there are now prices on my website. I've put them in manually for nowwhich is not the way I like to do thingsSo any help by someone well versed in php is still appreciatedThanks!

?>

Visiting that url works fine... I'm not a php expert though.  I'd suggest echoing $a, and $res in addition to $last to make sure they are what you think they are.

Normally, this returns the current sell rate at mtgox. The mtgox api is still up, but instead of returning the current sell rate, it is returning 0.

Actually, I normally use the tradehill api, but it is down at the moment (https://api.tradehill.com/APIv1/USD/Ticker). Can anyone tell me how to get my rates up and running again? I hate my site being broken at any time!

Don't know if it's just me, but on Windows 7 the 'copy' button does nothing for me so I have no way to copy and paste my receiving addresses.

I guess you are stuck using that address, since auction forum posts can't be edited, and the address is in other poster's subjects anyway...

Yeah, but at least I know for round 3 (if I decide to do round 3) Smiley
