It was the saddest day ever, mail man came and no coins.  Tracking shows them still on the way, so I am guessing Monday for me.  I was so excited been waiting all day for them, oh well 2 more days.

Go get him, file a report with the local police while you are there and point them out to him.

Or

Give him an old fashion beating and get your BTC back.
443  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: June 27, 2015, 04:06:44 PM
Anyone using this chip for development thinking of a larger miner?  32 chips or higher per board?  I am very interested.
444  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 29 x Spondoolies SP30s for sale 6 BTC Each for the LOT on: June 27, 2015, 06:27:54 AM
Exactly, if something like this happens you go there personally and get your items and all expenses you incurred you keep all receipts and sue them for it if you had to travel a distance to get your items.

Filing suit against a company does not mean much when they have no money or assets.  It is hard to seize money and assets when the company has none, and that is after money for lawyers and once you win your suit.  Basically you are better off saving your money on courts and lawyers and not filing suit.
445  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many Bitcoins are lost forever? - NONE! on: June 25, 2015, 09:50:07 PM
You guyz are killing me.
All generated bitcoins are sitting on blockchain. None of them is lost!
People may loose their control over private keys (which is required to say "Hey, those bitcoins are mine"). That doesn't mean those bitcoins are lost forever.

How to loose bitcoins forever?
If you manage to delete some blocks from all of the full nodes; then yes we may say some of bitcoins are lost. But no, you can't do that. There're lots of offline computers which have entire blockchain. You can try to delete but you'll fail and we can recover it.

You're arguing this question: "How many bitcoins are not controlled by people?" or "How many people lost their control over their private keys? (and how many bitcoin balances are affected on those keys?)"
And the answer is "Unknown" (You can't know that).

Also those controls can be regained by same people or others.

In conclusion; none of the bitcoins are lost. They're on the network.

I would say you are kind of right but when a private key is lost, the bitcoins on that private key are basically stuck and can never be used.  So for most practical purposes they are lost cause they can never be used or moved again.
446  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: At what point do we stop kidding ourselves? Bye Bye mining farms. on: June 25, 2015, 08:56:33 PM
The government will not shutdown a company for polluting, they just regulate it.  I have worked with oil/chemical companies for many years.  The government allows so much pollution and if you have a spill or go over that it is usually just a small fine.  Of course disaster like Exxon Valdez are a different story, but the extra pollution on a day to day is easily allowed.

I can tell you 1 chemical plant can easily use well over 88.9MW of power just 1, some of the large data centers have 100MW.

88.9MW for an entire planet of BTC mining is nothing in comparison to other industries or even a single facility.  I would say by your math you just proved BTC is more eco friendly then stuff we use everyday.

Edit: I found this after the fact. Chemical Companies alone back in 2002 use 3.7 Quadriillion BTUs of energy or converted 1,172,284,280 MW. http://www.eia.gov/consumption/manufacturing/briefs/chemical/

Your taking an entire community and comparing it to one company. A government can hold a company liable for pollution it creates. They have absolutely NO way of holding a community liable for the pollution it creates.

All of your rational is very logical but its applied in the wrong way.

I would for the second time state and agree that it creates less pollution than current systems. Again this argument is not about gold vs btc. Nor current banking vs btc. Its about solely the pollution created by mining. Lets stay OT.  That been said I think we could all agree that bitcoin is not nearly evolved enough to maintain an entire world of banking systems. Its ready to make an appearance but its not owning the show any time soon.

People just like with bitcoin, make lots of money on international banking. Like petrol.. don't expect it to go anywhere anytime soon. Not until bitcoin is a MASSIVE competitor and even then probably not.

There is the 16nm 3D chip KNC claims to have developed. Don't expect to get your hands on one without a group buy. They plan on self-mining the shit out of that hardware. The claims for that are 1/10th the power usage. Maybe. Probably not. That would revolutionize computation in general much less bitcoin.

My whole point was that the entire bitcoin system uses less power then a single building in other industries. If you look at all other industries regardless of their product bitcoin is just a drop in a very big lake, and it much more eco friendly then other industries.

AND.... I am not even sure where banking came into this conversation.

I must say I am sad they never posted pics of the Antminer in a crawl space.  I really wanted to see it.

I am curious in your testing, have you had time to test to what ambient air temp the miner will operate normally?

So mining areas are AC'd some are free air, mine is free air currently is the reason I am asking.  I know there is quite a range when it comes to equipment I have tested some gear to 120F with no problems some died at 95F.

Nice work on the project.
450  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Explanation please.... on: June 24, 2015, 07:12:12 PM
LOL, thanks for all the responses.  To be clear, this is not something I have wired up ready to go!

I am looking to purchase it, and use it in a new location.  I am wondering if the breaker panels are sending out 3 phase or single phase power.  I want to use 3 phase PDU's at the rack level, and need to know if this is compatible.

Thanks again!

The load centers are all wired for 3 phase, but all the branch breakers are single pole so except 120v out of each circuit breaker unless you change them.  Which if you are using PDU's you will be.

Since you are asking us about this equipment you are looking to purchase and looking to integrate this with PDU's I HIGHLY recommend you go over your plan with an electrician before you purchase.

Good luck.
451  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining Profitability on: June 24, 2015, 04:09:03 PM
It depends.  Most people will tell you it is not profitable which is not true.

If you get a good deal on some used gear and have a decent price on electricity you can still make a profit.

If you are paying something insane like 20 cents/kwh then no its not profitable.  Do the math plenty of ROI calculators out there, even if you just break even I would recommend you do it as it is fun, informative and a great learning experience.

Good luck.
452  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: June 24, 2015, 03:30:03 PM
I really dont understand why people trash talk on phil review. Phil is a well know reviewer that do it perfectly.
Doesnt matter if he sell gear after. He didnt beg he propose his help to make a review.

I will not buy any miner without review.

MOQ of 100. ahahah without any review. Well good luck on that.

Again nice centralisation of the mining.

Really sad about how this is going.

Centralisation of mining? What are you on about, this isn't Bitmain or any of the big dogs. This is actually a new company from a merger that happened, I don't get your point.

the Point is, that they only want to sell in batches of 100 Unit's. That lead into a Situation where only Big Mining Farms will buy that Miner.

Actually pretty normal practice for a manufacturer. They'll want to get it distributed via resellers and VAR's, so they don't have to deal directly with the end user. Whether such a model will work in the digital currency world remains to be seen, but I don't see it as centralization. I'd be looking to the retailers very soon.

I do not see how MOQ of 100 is centralization. This is still in the realm of getting several home miners together from your order and sharing an order.

The big guys will be ordering MOQ of 1000 or more, they buy by the petahash.

Yes I do wish it was a bit lower but MOQ of 100 is not that bad for a first batch limited run, their just saving the money on the logistic piece of the business till they get geared up.

Nice work on the upgrades.

BTW has anyone had payout issues?  Is this caused by the upgrades? I have been waiting almost 7 days now. Seems like 18 blocks have been found and I usually get paid out after 9.  I see I have 4 blocks to go, but this seems like a long time.

I plan to send my coins off to PCGS for grading soon as they arrive.

I was under the impression that PCGS doesn't grade these types of coins.

That I am not sure as this would be my first crypto coin submission.  I will let you know what is the outcome.

Thanks,
MC

457  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 24 TH/s where to go with it and realistic expectations on: June 23, 2015, 06:44:51 PM
With your current hash rate, you will make a little over .24 BTC/day given the current diff.

So if you know your expenses you can figure out what your profit will be.  Do not forget to include Diff increases.
458  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Didn't Satoshi Think About Instant Transactions? on: June 23, 2015, 05:10:45 PM
Transactions are instant, are you referring to confirmation?

I have done a lot of transactions all happens in usually 1-2 seconds or less.

Very nice miner, my only complaint would be the unit be designed to be stack-able appears that it may be a problem with the current dimensions.

But I am interested. Email Sent.
460  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread on: June 23, 2015, 05:33:47 AM

dunno.. just tried it, no issues..

You configured the hostname that you tested on your router or on your miner?

I just tested from the WebGUI instead of the CLI, and interesting I do an error from the S3 seems it is aware of the IP address but its not completing the process. See below.
