441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: http://faucet.coin43.com A SCAM on: May 04, 2015, 12:27:45 AM
This faucet was filled with a few hundred k in Gridcoin about a week or two ago, all the sudden the faucet balance went to 0 and the admin has not been heard from since that time. So, unless the owner comes into this thread and explains what happened, IT IS A SCAM!

Why dont you tell us what the problem with the site is. Other than it being slow and running out of coins. Otherwise, just posting this is basically slander. Not to mention it wastes everyone's time.

Unfortunately the coin exchange program has ended. If you had any coins left on poloniex or c-cex they would have been automatically converted.

I found my old Gridcoin wallet.dat file when coin first launched and i thought i lost it so didnt bother until now, My question is can i sync it with new upgraded wallet or it is worthless after gridcoin became gridcoin research? I didnt follow so it would be helpful if community member answer my question. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for setting that up! I gave you a tweet: https://twitter.com/GridcoinNetwork/status/594601465328472064

I will send some GRC to the faucet in a bit.

Got a faucet up if anyone wants some coins

Nice radio show, a little slow at first, but it gets better as it goes along. Good job!

Hey guys!

I do a show on SuperNET Radio, we cover the community as a whole - not just SN. Anyway, I have a show called Coin of the Week, and I chose Gridcoin last night. Smiley

So here's a link to the recorded show. It's mainly aimed toward new users, people who aren't really familiar with GRC and what it does.

https://soundcloud.com/supernetradio/coin-of-the-week-episode-3-gridcoin-research-grc

Enjoy Smiley I hope this is a good tool for gridcoin. I've been a boinc user for quite a while, and GRC is a great companion imo. Wink

Cheers!

451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: vTorrent: Anonymous Torrents on the Blockchain, seeders & uploaders get paid. on: April 25, 2015, 05:34:53 PM
Pump and Dumps have much higher volume on the drops, but that is not the case with vTorrent. Look at the volumes when price was climbing, may more then on the way down. That means people are holding, a.k.a investors!

Several cryptos are currently trying to do this, whoever gets there first will win big time!

http://themerkle.com/speculation/vtorrent-digital-currency-explodes-over-100/

Joking I guess Smiley. Actually it looks like a simple pump and dump instead of long term investors. Talking about an explosion when the daily volume is something around 0.25 BTC is a bit of an exaggeration. Isn't it?

I would like to know this as well. I hope this faucet is not a scam.

when the gridcoin faucet is working?
453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: April 23, 2015, 02:01:32 PM
I don't know if the GRC classic chain is still running or if anyone is even mining it. My impression was that 20th of April was the cutoff period.

wait is it not still possible to convert the coins? You can still convert them to Gridcoin Research afaik?

But hurry up, the conversion period is officially already over!
454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: April 23, 2015, 12:10:00 PM
It has been on the FRONT PAGE at the TOP of the main site since October : http://gridcoin.us THE MAIN SITE!!!!!!!

Twitter last call on the 20th of April: https://twitter.com/GridcoinNetwork/status/590282370852335616

Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/gridcoin/comments/2wy43d/important_migration_from_gridcoin_classic_to/ this post has been sitting at the TOP on the main reddit page since the start of the conversion.

If you had bother to check THE MAIN SITE, reddit gridcoin page, twitter gridcoin account: you would have known about the conversion a long time ago!!!!!!

Like I said, I don't know what to tell you or anyone else who did not bother keeping up with the news updates!

BTW, I alerted and mentioned to Poloniex on numerous occasions about the switch and they were well aware of it and did not even bother to make any announcements on their exchange, which I personally consider very unprofessional.

So that is approximately 1.28 mil classic coins that have not been burned.

So at least $10,000 to $20,000 worth of coins, if your numbers are correct.

Quote
The conversion from Gridcoin Classic to Gridcoin POR was announced in October of 2014

Announced where?  Not on Poloniex where people were buying it.  Between October and March, GRCX consistently traded for over 3000 satoshis, going almost to 6000 in November, and then over 9000 in March.  On April 20, the last day of the swap, it was still trading for 4400 before it was delisted with no notice.  All of those people buying and selling on April 20 were unaware of the swap.

If those people buying and selling on Poloniex had happened to check this topic on April 20th, what would they have seen?  Any news about the swap?  I see 4 posts from you on April 20th, and not a single word about all those coins becoming worthless:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=324118.4180

Maybe the big reddit thread from the same day?

http://www.reddit.com/r/Futurology/comments/335ff1/the_currency_of_the_future_inherently_supports/?sort=new

No, nothing about a swap.
455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: April 23, 2015, 02:56:15 AM
First of all, I am not the admin for Gridcoin, so if you have any problems you can take it up with him!!

So let me do the math for ya.

http://pool.gridcoin.us/CoinExchangeStatus.aspx --> Total Classic Amount Converted: 30,269,813.269 GRC

http://explorer.gridcoin.us --> GRC classic Coinbase Amount:   31555144.7083

31555144.7083 - 30,269,813.269 = 1285331.4393

So that is approximately 1.28 mil classic coins that have not been burned.

The conversion from Gridcoin Classic to Gridcoin POR was announced in October of 2014 and ended on April 20th of 2015, so a few days ago.

Like I said, I don't know what else to tell ya.

Everyone in this community converted their coins, except for you!

I went to the Poloniex trollbox for about 5 minutes and somebody else showed up asking what happened to Gridcoin.

So you're a liar.

Would you like to provide us with some numbers showing the total coin supply compared to the number of coins burned?

Of course you wouldn't, because then we'd have a better idea about how many people got screwed out of their coins.
456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: April 23, 2015, 02:41:27 AM
Everyone in this community converted their coins, except for you! Sorry, but I don't know what else to tell you.

Admit your mistakes and move on!

I already admitted that I shouldn't have bought Gridcoin or invested in this scam community.  Now I am moving on to let everyone know about it.
457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: April 23, 2015, 01:42:04 AM
Admit your mistakes and move on!

You had 6 months, if you did not make the effort to keep up with the updates, then that is your problem. You are the one who is ignorant and lazy!

When I bought the coin, I thought it was a real cryptocurrency that could be used as a store of value.  I didn't know it was a limited-time scam, full of pieces of shit like you.
458  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: April 22, 2015, 10:12:09 PM
You had 6 months, if you did not make the effort to keep up with the updates, then that is your problem. You are the one who is ignorant and lazy!

I honestly don't know why people waited till the last minute.

Then let me explain it to you, since you admit your complete ignorance:

Step 1:  Hear about Gridcoin
Step 2:  Buy Gridcoin on Poloniex
Step 3:  Continue your life every day like a normal person, check Bitcointalk sometimes
Step 4:  Go to Poloniex one day and find out:  "These coins are worthless now, thanks for your money dumbass, fuck you."
Step 5:  From now on, make sure to tell everyone that Gridcoin ripped you off

That's how it works.  Glad I could help, let me know if you have any more questions.

Gridcoin supports Boinc distributed science computing, so by adding Gridcoin you will be indirectly supporting science.

Just an update - We are in the process of removing (or rather, replacing) Hunter Coin. This is due to the inability to get the HUC wallet to work consistently and, it's rather low market cap, as well as limited use on PeerBet.org.

Over the course of the next several weeks, we will also be replacing the following coins as they don't have a sizeable amount of play on Bit777.com or PeerBet.org and also suffer from a rather weak market cap
- PrimeCoin (XPM)
- NameCoin (NMC)
- FeatherCoin (FTC)

Users on PeerBet.org will, of course, be able to divest from the bankroll and withdrawal for an indefinite amount of time after an alt-coin is deprecated!

That will leave the constant coins to the following
Bitcoin
LiteCoin
DogeCoin
DashCoin
PeerCoin

Have an idea on what new alt-coins we should bring online?!? Chime in here!

I would like to play with Gridcoin
