Rob is aware of the issues and is working it all out right now. Grc is a great coin.
Would be nice if we could buy it at Poloniex. Still broke there. Been broke for days and Poloniex is waiting for grc dev to help. Grc people ... where are you? Buyers/sellers very unhappy.

Damn, good catch I will have the designer make some edits. I had a graphic designer create this infographic for Gridocoin. You can use this freely and post it on reddit or other forums to showcase what Gridcoin is all about.
Very nice - lots of work building that! Suggestions for next draft: "protein" is spelled incorrectly in at least three places, the acronym "BOINC" appears incorrectly in various forms, for example sometimes all lower case and sometimes with just the "B" capitalized. I realize the gridcoin.conf blurb is copied directly from the first page of this thread, but I don't think it is correct as written - (PORTS stuff). I posted about this earlier, but no replies yet, so perhaps I'm mistaken. When/where can we buy coffee mugs and t-shirts with the new coin logo? Do they take crypto?

Glad you like it OMG that's amazing! Love this coin even more

CPU mining will be back and stronger than ever, I had several rigs CPU mining and I was really enjoying it, once we get a bullet proof security on it we will be kicking ass again. Guess it is better than no cpumining

Right now everything is under discussion so we have not finalized anything. I would say at this point security is going to be first priority from now on. Yeah, but that's still one thread too many. What if I've only got a single core processor? You're adding unnecessary bloat to cpu mining. And creating an arms race for cpu mining this algorithm instead of contributing towards boinc.
|
|
|
What is being proposed is 1 thread that will run a cpu algo not the entire processor!!!!!!! There seems to be an imminent hard fork in the development of gridcoin the developers are talking about making cpu mining also calculate a cpu only algorithm diverting users processors away from boinc

People are more interested in pump and dumps unfortunately. It would be nice to think that the crypto community would pour its hash into helping solve some of the wordls toughest computation problem. If crypto finds a cure for cancer (or helps) its media attention may go up a "little"

You can do pool mining for now pool.gridcoin.us or you can wait till the cpu mining is upgraded to make some security upgrades. Just looking for a confirmation at this point. As of the v2.0.0.2 Update, if I don't have a GPU capable of being used in CGMiner, I can no longer mine GRC? And, if that's the case, is this a permanent condition going forward?

If you are having problem syncing please download the blockchain from here: http://www.gridcoin.us/images/appdata.zipextract this zip into your appdata/roaming/gridcoin folder and you should be good to go.

After the attempted hack on the blockchain everyone is re synching now so very few people mining. how come that the mining difficulty dropped a lot?

I just tweeted it out! Exchanges: Please halt withdrawals while we track down all GRC addresses with coinbase blocks and missing security information
I contacted C-cex through the support e-mail. Skype, no answer.

You mean GRC giveaway on twitter for ever person that retweets something about Gridcoin? Gridcoin needs more marketing.
I've been quite heavily pushing it on reddit, and we've only got 50 suscribers on there. Reddit is a great way of establishing a community for a cryptocurrency; we should really try that angle. But in the mean time, people have successfully reached out to boincstats to get them to accept gridcoin. We should next contact EVERY boinc project directly, and ask if they'll accept gridcoin donations, and for them to put a gridcoin donation button up on their pages. We'll donate a bunch of grc to them, and their regular users will ALL see gridcoin on the official project pages and we'll get the core boinc users flooding to us in droves. What we could also do, is go to the major boinc team forums and post that they can offset their electricity costs by participating in cpu mining boinc at the bare minimum, and go further with gpu mining. edit: On another hand, could someone elaborate on why we need beacons in the first place? We've got the gridcoin team stats online, is it just a second layer of verification that the work is getting performed? And what's happening to these grc being used as beacons? My beacons are about 1GRC in size, usually going to similar addresses.. Can we raise funds or get people to volunteer to do giveaways on reddit and twitter? I've seen very successful giveaways on twitter by asking people to 1) retweet and 2) Change their profile picture to the gridcoin logo. Everyone starts seeing the logo everywhere and it goes viral. I've got a couple thousand twitter followers that follow me for crypto news and I would be glad to retweet it without the chance of winning.

LOL yeah sure, there are people selling fecking bitcointalk accounts lol I wonder how many fake accounts everyone is using to boost the vote count. Coins should be chosen based on innovation, not votes. These votes can be manipulated.
It's hard use fake accounts in this forum. By the way, I'm supporting Coin2 and Coinye.

I hate to say it, but that is true. The exchange really only cares about commissions, if you really think about it, why have a vote at all? Why don't they just keep adding all the new ones then?? More coins, more traders, more commissions!!! Why have a vote I wonder how many farmed and made up accounts were used in these votes. BTC38 should add coins based on innovation not votes.
There isn't a single exchange that adds coins based on innovation anymore. In fact most crypto investors couldn't give a rats ass about it either, they only want to get involved in the next pump and dump to make a quick buck, and the exchanges just play right along with it.

Is your wallet encrypted and password protected? If yes, the beacons will not work! Anyone having issues with beacons not being sent when cpu mining?
how much time did you wait? beacons are send every 72 hours.. 4 computers, and it's been several days now. If the 72 hours are reset every time I upgrade to the latest version of gridcoin, that's a complete joke since there are updates every other day. I'd prefer it to be reverted back to daily beacons - waiting 3 days for a possible beacon is too long to wait to find out if you've set it up correctly.
