Interesting,

Have just downloaded wallet and chain from links above

If i click on .exe no issues, no connections, but no issues
if i create the .conf you have given....wallet opens, gets 1 connection, and then closes after 1 second

Any ideas?

oh, and the blockchain zips fails to extract....tried it on 3 diff pc's

zip file is OK, just download and extract.
wallet closes or connection closes?

Wallet closes

446  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What does "Boo" mean in terminal while mining? on: April 09, 2019, 06:31:35 AM
I'm trying to mine PWR coin using MacMiner
it doesnt show the usual "yay"
it keeps "booing"

what does that mean? I checked the pool site there is no action going

what am I doing wrong?

P.S when I press macminer it gives me an error " this file is damaged and cannot be opened" so I clicked on show package and explored the file till I saw the minerd file and i just put it in the terminal and executed the order

the result is this:

is there anyway to change the Boos to Yaays?!

Hi,

Please post the exact command you are using with minerd.
use "x" for user / pass if you dont want to publicly display your real details
I dont have a mac, but use minerd, so should be able to test pool for you, and help you

the network hash rate is verry low this days, everyone can mine even with an old pc Smiley

Really?

It's not even worth mining on my Ryzen at the current hash.
The gpu miners and halving, have killed this coin.
How's about updating the algo to make it less worth while for the gpu miners?

Sorry to be harsh, cos i love this coin, but its def a gpu coin now.

Yes, cluster is down at the moment. Raster is going through some personal commitments and can't dedicate time to cluster. There are 2 pools that you can mine at, at the moment.

Hi,
Thanks for the update. Appreciated.

Hi,

Just wondering.
Does anyone know of a working "Prime" pool.

I'd like to get into the cpu mining, but...as far as I can tell according to "https://nexplorer.io/mining", the current cpu hash is at a staggering 15Gp/s, well a Ryzen 1700 gets about 500pps flat out, so unless I am wrong there are the equivalent of 100,000 Ryzen cpus hashing at the mo.
Seems a little excessive, and certainly means less than zero chance of solo mining. (Are these figures right? Does someone have a secret gpu miner for the cpu channel? if so, will the new wallet fix this?)

Also, half the links now seem dead, for pools and miners, etc Is it time to start a fresh with a new thread?

So if anyone can point me to a decent pool, and cpu miner, i'd be very grateful.

J

Looking for updates from Dev - how are you coming along with attempting to list on another exchange? (Mercatox?)
Without knowing if there's progress there seems to be little incentive for people to mine. Please post updates.

Hi,
read post above, coin been dead since 26th Jan 2019.
No block source.
457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GAP] Gapcoin - Prime Gap Search - New Math Algo - CPU / GPU - Zero Premine on: February 25, 2019, 11:36:04 AM
@minerja

Glad you managed to get the GUI working on linux ...

Generally anything Gapcoin above Ubuntu 14.04 LTS is going to require these tool kits ... this includes the current linux gapminer binaries ...

Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-toolchain-r/test
Code:
sudo apt-get update
Code:
sudo apt-get install gcc-4.9
Code:
sudo apt-get upgrade libstdc++6

The 'math' packages are included with the stages you have already followed. i.e.

libgmp-dev - The GNU Multiple Precision Arithmetic Library - https://gmplib.org/
libmpfr-dev - The GNU MPFR Library - https://www.mpfr.org/

Thanks for the help
Been running daemon wallet with 12 threads (Ryzen 1800x) and in 12hs, mined just 2 blocks....so still pretty poor. Tried the cpu miner Rev 4, and although hashare 10-15% higher, not one block in 12 hours....the GapMiner rev5.1 CRT Creation miner fails ( /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.20' not found (required by ./gapminer-cpu)
)
Hopefully will get that version working too

This is what i get with the rev4 cpugpu miner

459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hottest CPU-only coins to mine right now? on: February 23, 2019, 12:28:04 PM
I could be wrong, but last time i checked. If you won virtually every Hodlcoin block each day, i think you struggle to make $1 a day, and Magi is in a right mess. No leadership, multiple forks, pools up and down like yoyo's.  Most original Magi miners left last year, and now a few bigger miners have it it, again, virtually impossible to hit $1 a day.

Prob best to stick with cryply.
J

Thanks for letting me know about this, mate. I didn't know that Magi was in such as harsh situation, as it had one of the most supportive communities within the crypto space. Even if Magi used to be quite unprofitable most of the times, it was fun to mine it with ease. One thing that I've noticed though, is that Magi has a single developer working on it, which is often bad for the longevity of the cryptocurrency. The project needs more people working on it, to maintain itself as a solid cryptocurrency among the market.

Despite this, there are many other good CPU coins that can be mined today. I believe that Monacoin goes easy on the CPU, as well as, Cryply. If you tend to have a powerful or mid-range CPU, you can easily generate a side income even if the money earned is not as much as a regular job. CPU-only coins are much more decentralized than many PoW coins which are only mineable via ASICs or GPUs. But, it's only a matter of adoption whenever these coins will succeed or not within the future.  Sad

Just lloked at Monacoin, if i found the right one, its Lyra2rev2, which now has an ASIC...sorry

Ok, Finally

Found an old drive, with
Distributor ID:   Ubuntu
Description:   Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS
Release:   14.04
Codename:   trusty

I have some previously compiled wallets on it, so have no idea as to what is installed, or how i did it...
but still cannot compile wallet....missing something or other

but when i tried "https://github.com/gapcoin/gapcoin/releases/download/v0.9.2-rev2/gapcoin-rev2-linux.zip"
extracted and using ./gapcoin-qt OMG i finally have a working GUI wallet. No connections, but a quick gapcoin.conf has got me 1 connection

So now that wallet is syncing...but 2 final issues.

1) Why, oh why, is the linux gui wallet always different to the windows one, where is help/debug console, the only tabs i have are Overview, Send, Receive, Transactions....so how the heck to i ge in the wallet to setgenerate true -1

2) How the heck do i get ./gapcoin.qt to run on double click...i can only launch it via terminal
When i double click i get
Could not display “gapcoin-qt”. There is no application installed for “shared library” files.
Do you want to search for an application to open this file?

I have made a file called Wallet.sh which contains
#!/bin/bash
./gapcoin-qt

but all that does is open in gedit....

Why is this all so dumb, why cant it fail once, and give you a list of programs to choose from, one of them being the one that will actually run the darn file....
I've made eveything executabe, and even done some chmod a+x and u+x stuff.....
Gawd help me

So assuming the wallet sync, since i cant goto debug and setgeneate true- i guess im going to have to try one of the external miners.....sheesh, give me strength

To think, people hate on windows....i'd rather stick with DOS ! Smiley
