463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / one good thing about missing the bitcoin riches boat on: November 09, 2013, 10:10:40 PM
The one good thing about missing the bitcoin riches boat is that no one can accuse me of only supporting bitcoin because I'm trying to get rich. Smiley
464  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you whink BTC will hit 1000$at end of this year? on: November 09, 2013, 10:04:40 PM
I don't think so in 2013, if I were to take a wild guess I'd say this is about as high as we'll see for this year, but who knows, not me.

469  Other / Meta / Re: avatar not working on: November 09, 2013, 08:28:25 PM
We cannot use any avatars?

I would think we should be able to at least use the preloaded ones on the server.
(Musician, Actors, etc.)

yeah I would think so too, but I guess they just disabled the whole thing maybe because it was easier that way.

471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Biggest misconception in Bitcoin on: November 09, 2013, 08:30:45 AM
The biggest misconception is that it is currency... it's not.

I have been harping on this for a while now, but here it is from the owner of  second largest exchange BTC-china.

"China has been known as a nation of savers, who are always saving for a rainy day,” says Lee.  ”Bitcoin is a digital asset, like real estate, gold, or stock. It is just one more option now. With Bitcoin hard-coded to be limited, it’s like a collectible.”"

It isnt currency.
It is a digital collectible.

My point Sublime is who cares if it's "currency" or not, if it does the job which people want it to do, then who cares what it is.
472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin entering the mainstream FINALLY? on: November 09, 2013, 08:29:12 AM
I think they are, and I think it's a little bit dangerous still. At this point in time you still need to really know what you're doing if you plan on handling a decent amount of btc money.
473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the biggest mistakes you've done with Bitcoin? on: November 09, 2013, 08:27:34 AM
my biggest mistake was also what helping support the btc economy, spending them.
474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how to install the alt-coin qt clients with linux on: November 09, 2013, 08:24:13 AM
thanks both. I'm on ubuntu and need a ppcoin and litecoin client. It's funny I feel pretty good using ubuntu, I've been writing python for my raspberry pi, I've got the OS working the way I like it but I'm still confused on how to install software sometimes.
475  Economy / Services / Re: Earn up to 1.2BTC/month just by posting! on: November 08, 2013, 11:00:39 PM
Will the rates change after the 17th due to the increased price?
476  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Partnership between Facebook and police could make planning protests impossible on: November 08, 2013, 10:57:35 PM
This is bad business for Facebook.

Facebook is bad business.

the truth, I'm about ready to pretty much stop using that site.
477  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Edward Snowden BTC ADDRESS 1snowqQP5VmZgU47i5AWwz9fsgHQg94Fa on: November 08, 2013, 10:54:10 PM
This is really one of the great things about BTC. I remember back when wikileaks first came out, myself, I'm sure like many others were actually afraid to donate with traditional forms of payment, but now with btc I think people feel more free to spend their money where they want.
478  Other / Politics & Society / Re: China's adoption of BTC on: November 08, 2013, 10:48:48 PM
Does it not scare anyone that a communist country like China have so openly embraced the open-source technology of bitcoin, whilst supposed democracies such as the USA are doing all they can to regulate it. There's more on regulation from the US here:
http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2013/11/05/bitcoin-comes-under-senate-scrutiny/

No, I think it's a very good thing because even if they, the Chinese state, is acting like they like BTC, it is disruptive and will weaken the state.
479  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / how to install the alt-coin qt clients with linux on: November 08, 2013, 09:53:24 PM
