What news about blockchain fork that was planned for 11'2017?

already happened the pos is fixed to 20 per block now

Thanks for the info! I really appreciate it.

Is it necessary sync from strach or not?  I am getting only orphans (20 per block) on old chain.

I deleted everything except wallet.dat and started again - took about 9 hours to sync up fully again.

Are you having orphans too? Maybe I can use the bootstrap file from OP? Is it up to date?

If you get only orphans you might have updated from the fork a little too late. There is a chance you would have to sync again. The bootstrap should put you at around 90%

I should probably already know this but is it possible to stake with blackhalo client same as I might stake with the Lore wallet currently.   Maybe I can just copy the index files across to speed up the synchronising as well.   I ask because I find I have to rescan alot to get mature coins on the Lore wallet, possibly that is the machines fault as it is old machine with only dual core and its running other things as well.

http://www.blackhalo.info/

Seems a great shame not to use the potential assets available.  Meanwhile Bitcoin is effectively throttling itself, theoretically if we transferred the same transaction volume to BLK then would it handle it ok ?   Obviously we should also have more active wallets at that time so maybe its impossible to say but Im interested in peoples estimates.   Capitalism is always competetive and I'm much more optimistic even if only in theory it can handle the workload because I do believe change is the only constant especially with such high monetary velocity, 2018 will not just be a repeat.
I'm still an eternal learner on these things but also the situation is dynamic, relying on price alone as an indication of success is a mistake imo and bitcoin will run into problems if they dont resolve that backlog amicably.  Speculative activity isnt enough to justify that fee cost

Not only does BlackHalo stake but it has the worlds most secure staking! COLD STAKING. To stake in Halo go to settings and turn it on and then unlock your wallet. Then you have cold stake options so if you want to have the highest security you can stake using 2 computers over LAN. Basically have one key on one computer and another key on the other computer. This way the signing of a stake between the two accounts makes your account almost impossible to hack.

The blockchain files can be copied in the same way a bootstrap works. You never have to rescan in BlackHalo. The only reason to rescan is if you accidentally delete wallet.dat(since it's mainly used for watchonly addresses in Halo) or move to a new computer and open an account and the balance isn't showing properly.

To import blockchain files from the QT for example you just follow the same instructions as you would with any coin. The blockchain files in Halo are always stored locally in the install directory such as c:\BlackHalo\data

is there really 21 bitbay supporters

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2479595.140

you can do better Im sure.... if there is all these bitbayers on slack tell them to get their butts over there and give a vote

they havent voted on here probably for the same reason why you havent jointed Slack. They see no need to be on here as they get all there Bay info from the new forum and slack.

Thats a big error on their part then because this forum creates free and targeted advertising for bitbay. Slack is for those already aware of bitbay.

Never underestimate the power of the main board here. This is crypto central and the place most noobs arrive to consult for investment advice and ideas.

I agree that Bitcointalk is important. For a long time I've had on the bounty list to have community managers and threads for multiple languages. I think the thing is all of our core team is worked to the maximum. I'm optimistic that this will change soon.
465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: December 15, 2017, 02:35:00 AM
I downloaded the BitBay QT wallet on their website, and sent BAY there from my Bittrex account. It has not reach my wallet. What can I do?

is the blockchain fully synched?

and the blockchain is fully synced on the wallet.

Please go to https://forum.bitbay.market/c/support for support

this sucks. I see it on the blockchain explorer http://explorer.bitbay.market/address/BLkXZQzPX57B9CHDohix288uxiK7y6JXUo

but I don't see it in the fully synced Bitbay QT wallet

If that is the case you can attempt to run it from the command line and rescan. Also, are you running the most recent version of the QT? You are aware we had a hard fork that triggered on the 30th of November. If your QT is from before November 1st then that could be why.

***  ALERT * WATCHONLY-GUI BUG * ALERT ***
____________________________________________

Greetings, friends at BlackCoin! As Komodo Platform has been working around the clock to fine-tune the multiple GUI's that are the face of our Agama multiwallet and BarterDEX atomic swap protocols, there have obviously been many bugs found and many debugged. However, one bug in particular was found not only in our Agama GUI wallet, but also in the zcash4mac GUI swing wallet. It is a simple bug, but it warrants your attention. This is a potential money cost bug.

BlackCoin (BLK) - As a Bitcoin-protocol cryptocurrency, your GUI wallet(s) may be susceptible to this bug.

ISSUE: 'watchonly' addresses appearing as your own in GUI wallet; users could potentially send funds to the address, unaware it is not theirs or available for withdrawal.  You can import <any address> and it becomes a 'watchonly' address. The GUI will display the address as yours, add its funds to your balance, and accept deposits, but cannot be withdrawn. This could be a normal address, my address, a p2sh address, satoshi's address, etc. This can be confusing to an end-user and will lead to many headaches for the developer, as is always the case with misplaced funds.

FOUND: in Komodo Platform's Agama multiwallet (fixed) and zcash4mac GUI swing wallet (@jl777b: "newest QT wallet seems ok about watch only, but not sure of older and when it was fixed")

ex. @grewalsatinder found the bug in his zcash swing wallet:

Quote from: jl777B
"satinder used zcash4mac, ie. the zcash osx GUI, not ours... the assumption is no GUI out there properly handles watch only addresses, until proven that they do... agama also had this bug, which we found and fixed, so it seems a very common bug to have"

SOLUTION: For the 'watchonly' address or any address not yours, the value 'ismine' returns false. Any such address gets filtered out.

QUESTIONS:
  • How does your recommended GUI deal with watchonly addresses?
  • Does your GUI display watchonly addresses as different than actual addresses in the wallet?

We need to experiment a bit to see which approach gets a better response triggering the bug. People WILL lose money if they send funds to a watchonly address.

Quote from: jl777B
"the t3 addresses in the 'Own Addresses' column! and they absolutely cant be as they are p2sh addresses. it is clear proof that the bug is very real and anybody that understands a p2sh address will understand it cant be something in your wallet. it is usually a multisig address, so only if it is a 1of1 multisig (possible but very silly) can you have a p2sh address that is spendable, but the wallet wont even know it... normal addresses can also be watchonly, which makes this even worse. in that case it would appear in the list of addresses just like all the others. even if you are able to spot p2sh addresses visually, it wont be enough"

I've been tasked with spreading awareness and facilitating discussion of this bug, so please let me know if you have any questions. I'll get you some answers and we can minimize the impact. We wanted to reach out directly to the developers of the 60+ coins featured on Agama and BarterDEX as the bug may have a direct impact on you (via your own GUI wallet).

- Jay

Hey there Jay. BlackHalo uses the watchonly addresses however the wallet is only used to get access to listunspent. The keys are just stored in two private key files since all accounts are multisig. In some cases watchonly is used to watch addresses for joint accounts or accounts that don't belong to the user.

Rat4 used to have two branches. The main branch and the watchonly branch because he didn't want the wallets to get confused. In fact, I use a custom data directory which is local to Halo to avoid that conflict and make files more accessible to users.

As for the QT anyone who builds the watchonly branch and manually adds watchonly addresses is indeed at a big risk since those accounts aren't meant to be spent. However the change you propose is not good because I use that branch for Halo. On the other hand users should build from the branch without watchonly.

If your DEX requires the QT wallet runs watchonly then perhaps a change needs to be made to the QT GUI to accommodate it.

Glad you like it. We are quite proud of what BitBay has already accomplished Smiley

Yes, the client will sync. The blockchain download is for those that don't want to wait for the syncing. You can download it and replace the files in your bitbaydata folder with the ones in the download. We replace that download every now and then, so it will normally take you to 85-99% synced.

Yes, the marketplace in the client is in use. all kinds of items are sold and also OTC deals for coins. The most spectacular trade so far has probably been this: https://medium.com/@tradersnow/how-i-sold-5-acres-of-land-using-bitbays-trustless-smart-contracts-28f18b83125 The activity on the marketplace is not high yet, but we are working on that. The marketplace runs over bitmessage, and that entails that you can only see contracts that have been posted or refreshed after you joined, so it can take a little while before you see everything that is posted. We have a bitmessage server ready that will make it possible to see all contracts imidiately. One of the coming updates will give you the option to connect to it.

Thanks for the fast and detailed answer.

Alright, now I understand why there is the downloadable blockchain as well. I guess I will also download it to make it sync faster.

Great to hear that the market place is running already. I love free p2p marketplaces and yours is by far the most beautiful I've seen so far. Im looking forward to the widespread adoption of BitBay, this will be just huge!

Do you also got a telegram/ discord/ slack channel or any other recommended sources to get the latest updates?

Kudos to everyone working on this project, Im really into it!

Yeah we have a Slack and forum it can all be found on our website at bitbay.market

Right and also if Bitcoin is a million dollars a coin (which isn't going to happen because it can't scale)

For scaling to be an issue, you need to have the problem first Wink

In fact bitcoin is scaling quite nicely. Derivative markets, debit cards, secondary networks, you name it. It isn't the blockchain's job to scale traffic, it's its job to scale value.

It's not scaling nicely, I had to pay 200 dollars in a transaction fee just to send my coins, they have massive backlog of transactions, some transactions never get into the chain, it can only process 5 transactions per second, lightning network isn't even close to done.

I'm bullish on Bitcoin sure but let's face reality, this thing is about to hit some serious grind.

Look at what a simply little app is doing to Ethereum.... then imagine 1000s of apps.

Right and also if Bitcoin is a million dollars a coin (which isn't going to happen because it can't scale) then altcoins would boom anyways.

A Bitcoin rise never hurts altcoins in the long run because holders of Bitcoin simply have more spending power and thus more inventive to diversify. Plus it draws attention to the industry and brings new people in. Also Bitcoin price rising drags up the fiat value of altcoins.

Granted I'm one of the first people to get upset that I don't hold "more Bitcoins" due to not selling. A mistake I've made oh about... let me see... a bazillion times. Don't be afraid to keep repeating that mistake because we aren't psychic. It's very easy to look at the past and say "oh I should have done that".

To test start with a quarter. Call it heads or tails. Lets say you call tails. When it flips to heads simply say to yourself "Oh damn I should have chosen heads, I knew that... next time I'm gonna choose heads." Just don't get upset if you keep guessing incorrectly.

trader dont use coin flip to trade, its too random...  we trader use chart, its less random and give somehow more insight on how the market react.

True, however that wasn't my point. I was saying hindsight is 20/20. And long term bulls tend to do better than short term bears.

The alt coins market is a crazy bussines, once upon a time the alts went up when bitcoin went up. Now it is the other way around, it is a bloodbath at the moment. If bitcoin is going to 500.000 or a million dollars then the altcoins are priced at what? A few satoshi? Iam going to change my strategy bigtime, that is stockpiling and hodling bitcoin.

Alts going down when bitcoin goes up is the rule. The opposite has been the exeption. You want a lot of bitcoin? Make sure you are in alts when the tide turns.

Right and also if Bitcoin is a million dollars a coin (which isn't going to happen because it can't scale) then altcoins would boom anyways.

Have you considered that to prevent network congestion to have users look at the mempool either in the client or online and recommend a certain # of trades per day? I would do that considering that you could get unexpected volume. Also I'm sure you are considering other trading pairs besides Bitcoin?! Since congestion can actually cause an atomic trade to fail by overstepping the time limit set by each side of the trade causing loss for one of the parties. I'm sure you are setting your time limits to very long like a few weeks just in case. But still it's good practice to avoid users getting stuck. Also for Bitcoin you might want to calculate based on websites online since fees have been skyrocketing lately.

Hope all is well... just a thought! Still rooting for ya.

Hello, the BitBay team! I bet several POS coins, including BitBay on the same computer. You can do multiple bets?May affect the amount of mined coins?

You can mine more than one altcoin at a time, it might reduce probability of getting a stake if you don't have enough RAM. It depends on how many you run.

It's nice to see you pop up on this thread again dzimbeck.  I've seen several people asking about Blackhalo and Night trader recently, glad to hear your still working on it!!  Cheesy

Thanks yeah I don't show up as much mainly because I'm extremely busy but this is still my full time job. The software is extremely stable as are the decentralized markets.

NightTrader needed to have a javascript design instead of python and use atomic trading. So that is already sketched out however I'm waiting until the completion of the final templates in Halo which will be another few months and BitBays peg to reassess the project. Hopefully by that time I can finance it myself. It wouldn't be built on Blackcoin though because atomic trade is blockchain agnostic. We could give Blackcoin special incentives although I've gotta think about it. Perhaps lower voluntary trading fees.

Does the webwallet stake? perhaps that is an option?

No that wouldn't be right because they aren't verifying blocks. It requires an active connection to stake.

I need the blackhalo blockchain data package.

The blockchain data is the same as Blackcoin you can copy the data files or use Blackcoins bootstrap. What platform are you on? Windows, Linux or Mac?
476  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BLK/BC) | PoS | No ICO on: December 05, 2017, 10:36:05 AM
lol why would we ditch a coin that has how many years of blockchain/trust behind it? that was one of the first of it's kind. for a coin suggested by a noob account that is probably one of many for him? wasn't bitbay 1 of many pump and dump groups coins? tethering is stupid to me, if you have to tether to a dollar is it really worth a dollar?  kind of the opposite of let the market decide. If you can't make money off trading a coin like BLK and need hype to keep you interested good for you. A few months ago I was buying/trading at 12 cents  now it's been over 30 cents lately. So I'm fine right where I am  Cool

Lol i remember bitbay very good from the past, leaded by an pump and dump group. Stayed away very far from that coin.
Dont know how current developments are ongoing for bitbay but that shouldnt be discussed here because this the blackcoin thread and not a place to hype any other coin.

Well this is wrong. BitBay is where I devote most of my time developing. The original team screwed me and stole the dev funds but the project itself is awesome. I've worked blood sweat and tears for a couple years to make sure investors made a profit and I won't hear that type of bullshit here.

Also it's not tethered, the supply will be dynamic so it will inflate and deflate based on voting and algorithms which will allow it for solid stable rise and an excellent hedge against volatility (more like a decentralized tether but dynamic price). There is no coin that exists that can currently defend against volatility and hence that feature was designed to dig investors from the grave.

Also I agree, please nobody promote other coins in this thread.

With that said I'm still working on BlackHalo and BitHalo. The software is extremely stable with almost 4 years of proven unbreakable contracts.
477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: December 05, 2017, 12:52:34 AM
thats a real relaunch. congrats to all the new things.

i would like to stake. but i only can do this with one of my raspberry pis. is this possible? did anybody already tested it? thanks for helping me with this.

I think some people have tried. It might work with the QT wallet, the markets wallet is a little bit heavy for that I think but maybe Craig knows since he tested it.
478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: December 05, 2017, 12:50:07 AM
ok, that's ok if I am being ignored now I won't post here anymore.. I was a a bit rude with my last posts I guests but always misunderstood. The intention is only always ever to help otherwise I would not waste my precious time. It should be an honor really but anyway...

I am under the impression the software doesn't get much testing on linux because I am experience another bug.., blockchain sync broken somehow on about 47%.. Second time this happened I shut down the bithalo client and was reset to 2% when I re opened the app.. Was a clean exit the first time so no reason to be back on 2%! then I didnt accept, exit again and reloaded then it was back to about 30% ... Today it crashed the system for some unknown reason and when reopened the blockchain was at 2%.. client wouldnt restart at all gtk issues and some error message loading bitmessage script but not the halo gui .. this is after crash then system reboot and when reloaded it was 2%.. then clean exit and reload and it was back to 47% ...

not the intention to blast the thread with bug reports there is simply no place to post them. I am tentatively offering my services as a linux tester, if not me find someone at least. I wont post here anymore just send a pm if you would like some help then I can send the bug reports somewhere else.

It was at 2% because you weren't connected to the internet. You have to wait for it to connect. We do test on Linux although make sure you clean exit when syncing. If your sync breaks please just PM me your debug.log

The BitBay exchange in Poland was started on March 29 2014.

See bitbay.net

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/BitBay

They're expanding into India:
https://news.bitcoin.com/bitbay-exchange-enters-indian-cryptocurrency-markets/

The Bitbay Bay, your project's first post was on Dec 12 2014... the thread on BTC talk

but BitHalo was started on What May 29th 2014.

So still behind original Bitbay Exchange which started Mach 29th same year... Sad

What do you think the implications are, or was BitHalo / BitBay already having some manifestation prior to the date of March 29 2014?

How about changing it to BittBay
The extra 't' in BittBay could stand for Bit-Transfer-Bay [whatever]  coz looks like Bitbay Exchange predates your awesome blockchain!

I'm sure they'll sue to suck up your market cap share...eh? Captain?

Dude what do you think? Dark Changed to Dash. I mean they'd sue if they saw your market cap and were sure of the copyright infringement case was strong against you, even if it was by accident its still a reality.... I just had to mention this, I mailed craig about it, damn it, he has to block my emails for real, lol. I'm a waste of time (I double post). And ye, I didn't read about the peg. Funnily I mentioned that I wanted a few years ago to create a  currency with 90% of the cap frozen, so the market liquidity would be 10%, thereby stabilizing and reducing volatility... But it would be unscrupulous if one where to be able to do so manually as per one's discretion, i.e. freeze a percentage... just an opinion, it might be seen as fraudulent.

lol deadclocktimeverify awesome dude!... There should be dropdown menus for all the tools, this is just too multi-functional and advanced man....

what about this new copyright issue, where you aware? I emailed your gmail account from the BitHalo site and said the same thing, so just delete those...

Even if their thread was first it's not a big deal because we aren't in the same genre as them. They are an exchange and we are a coin. Even so we established an international presence before we did and I don't think it's wise to change the name just because someone else has it. They should change their name.

Regardless if we ever rebrand it would be after a lot of calculation.

The locktime functions are in the "Advanced" menu in the sending tab. You can set a before and after address using "advanced time lock"

It works per payment though and the software usually spends those immediately so consider setting aside a certain amount for doing that in a new account. And of course always back up your keys. Wink

Off topic but please read:

"US Senate Moves to Criminalize Non-Disclosure of Cryptocurrency Ownership"

https://cointelegraph.com/news/us-senate-moves-to-criminalize-non-disclosure-of-cryptocurrency-ownership

Stand up and be heard! Stop this before it starts or we will all suffer the loss. Write, call, blog, post yell and scream. This must never see the light of day. For those of you in the US, it goes against every principle we believe in. Our country was founded on principles diametrically opposed to this proposed law.

"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist."

"Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

"Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew."

"Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."

I simply can't stress how important it is to stop this nonsense. We are no better than the Nazi's if we enact this. Even if you are NOT in the US, this will effect you in due time if enacted. Make your voices heard!

This is the reason I left the US... they are literally diabolic. They are obsessed with stripping people of their freedoms and there is nothing they haven't criminalized. It's so sad that they do all of this and is one of the major forces holding back humanity from it's potential.

With that said, they won't be able to enforce it.
