461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Strange behavior on: December 23, 2017, 08:43:05 AM
Hi,

There is a strange behavior.

After rig was running for less than two hours I noticed that the monitor was off. There was no response on clicking mouse. When clicked on keyboard the GPUs fans started spinning but nothing on monitor. After couple of minutes there was a message that Windows 10 encountered error and will restart. After restart Claymore got executed but GPU0 showing 0 hash rate and the miner got stuck on POOL/SOLO version.

GPU0 status: t=60C fan=53%
GPU1 status: t=54C fan=52%

Did hard reset and after that things got normal.

Any idea/clue about this strange behavior?

Looking forward and thanking you in anticipation.

Regards,

Rizwan

Can you tell us what GPUs are you using?  Are they over or under clocked?  Did you modify the BIOS (AMD cards)?  What kind of PSU are you using?

And finally, post your Claymore BAT file you are using.
462  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What would cause a miner to become unresponsive? on: December 23, 2017, 08:39:23 AM
Turns out I somehow plugged in some longer blue cables instead of the ones that came with the mintcell risers. It's been mining almost an hour just fine now @ 6MH/s on NeoScrypt.

Trying to figure out how to get this darn thing to mine zencash thru Awesome Miner. Gah.

It's not too hard.  What problem are you having?
463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: It is too late to start mining? on: December 23, 2017, 08:33:36 AM
Why don't you try it and find out?
464  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Understanding Benchmark Numbers, Over-Clocking and Other Noob Questions on: December 23, 2017, 08:29:43 AM

(edit: I thought the image would appear in the post...)

So I threw up Awesome Miner and have it connected to zPool or MPH.

I'm confused by my benchmark numbers on what algos are best for my GPU. (I don't know how to read them)

whattomine tells me my card loves cryptonight.

I am thankful for any direction.

Also, if anyone has a second...

1: Is there a known penalty for switching around pools? Say on zPool. If I let Awesome Miner switch every 15 mins on a .15 cent change, will I get penalized? (not jumping to MPH, staying within zPools network)

2: Is hourly jumping around between MPH and zPools a bad idea?

3: Is it better to just mine one coin that is my fastest algo or let multi-algo switching happen?

4: I have this GTX 750Ti overclocked to 100% voltage +230 core and +500 mem. It runs fine at 62c on Blake 2s (48hrs). Am I an idiot or is this okay? (I didn't push it any higher. I don't know if I am ruining this GPU, however...)

Basically, I guess I am asking "If you were me (and this is all you had), what algorithm would you mine and would you run this GPU overclocked this way.

Thank you all for any advice.

The benchmark numbers are to help Awesome Miner determine what is the best algo for your card based upon what sites like zpool or MPH are showing as "most profitable."

1.  No penalty except for the ramp up penalty.  If you are mining on Zpool and have AM switching you every 10 minutes... some mining software can take a good minute or so to ramp up.  They initialize the cards, some set DAGs, etc.  On 10 minute switching you could be losing 10% of your time ramping up when you could have been mining.

2.  An hour is a reasonable time to have AM check profitability.

3.  That's personal preference, and there are many opinions out there about this.  My opinion is that you should be mining coins that are most profitable over an average amount of time... not spot prices.  Coins shoot up and down in value constantly, and you will be chasing the tail end of the spikes.  And you've got the coin's maturity time, and exchange time to consider.  Just because you mined a coin at X value right now, doesn't mean it will give you exactly that X value after waiting on the coin to mature and hit the exchanges.

4.  The temperature seems fine to me.

You don't have to use Awesome Miner's profit switching only with services like zpool or MPH.  You can setup your own set of pools and add them to a pool group.  Then use the custom pool group to switch between.  When you do this, Awesome Miner will use the Whattomine statistics on the Coin tab to determine what coin you should be mining.  You could setup all the Suprnova pools up in a pool group for instance.
465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to mine ZenCash with Awesome Miner? on: December 23, 2017, 06:29:35 AM
Hello. Have a 10 card rig setup with AwesomeMiner and I simply just want to mine JUST ZenCash at MPH.

I created a "managed miner" and put in us-east.equihash-hub.miningpoolhub.com:20594 for the pool and my username.workername I setup under "Hub Workers" which was setup for just ZenCash. I also put my ZenCash wallet in the settings. I set the miner to be EWBF, CCMINER, Excavator, and DSTM for nVidia. All of these programs work for a second and then close out with no error seen.

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Thanks.

In the pool settings, you only need to put your worker name like "puwaha", and on the managed miner settings you tick the box to append the rig name like "rig.1" so that the full worker name becomes "puwaha.rig1".

The best way to diagnose problems with a pool or miner setup in Awesome Miner is to right click it and have it run the diagnostics.  It will show you exact command line it's using which can help you configure the pool and miner appropriately.  The mining software will tell you what it sees as wrong usually as well.

You can do port forwarding through your firewall, but it should only be done to secure channels like ssh.  VPN is the safest.

We're starting to get merchants to accept ZenCash now that we're integrated into CoinPayments.net. Any merchant that you know that uses their service to accept cryptocurrencies, please reach out and tell them how awesome this community is and why they should start accepting ZEN!

Adding TorGuard to our privacy ecosystem is an awesome step forward...

Im actually going to start accepting Zencash too in 2018 Smiley.

I accept it now in 2017.  lol

is it possible to run a zen secure node on windows ?

I asked a similar question recently and the answer is currently no. It is not possible to run a zen secure node on windows. However, it could be something for the future if we're lucky! Otherwise, you could always learn basic linux, and then follow the step by step guides out there on setting up a secure node. I believe someone made a guide that should be available on the zencash website.

Like "90% of population" is using Windows, I sure hope someone will fix this and secure nodes will be possible on Windows.  Cool

You can run a virtual machine on windows, if you really want to run a node on windows.
469  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner]- Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 5000 miners on: December 21, 2017, 09:06:35 PM
Is this only for Windows?

Currently yes.  Or ASICs that run well known mining software like cgminer, sgminer, etc.
470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner]- Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 5000 miners on: December 21, 2017, 09:05:37 PM
It's possible to add Nicehash in the coin list ?
Or you cannot have the profit by day with them ??

Profit from Nicehash will show up on the Online Services tab, not the coins tab.  The coins tab gets it's data from Whattomine, and the Online Services tab gets it's data from switching services like Nicehash, MiningPoolHub, Zpool, etc.
471  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner]- Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 5000 miners on: December 21, 2017, 09:01:41 PM
Is it possible to have two instances of Awesome Miner "Manager" running at the same time? I'm often travelling between cities and will be using two different desktops.

My thought is that if I implement a change like adding a pool or switching from managed to profit switching the other client may cause conflict.

An agent will only communicate with one AM instance at a time.

Where is that "-p c=BTC" coming from?  I'm pretty sure you don't have to specify the coin in the password field for zpool unless you specifically want to exchange to a different coin.  BTC is the default coin.  Can you remove this from your custom command line fields if that's where you put it?
473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner]- Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 5000 miners on: December 21, 2017, 08:52:01 PM
Used to use Nicehash but came across Awesome miner on a another forum and never looked back since! Been making 3-5X more a month then what that ripoff of a site gave me.

Still learning most of the ropes. Just got a question concerning unspecified coins vs and specified coins.

Sometimes unspecified coins give a much high profit per day as specified coins. Just how accurate is it when it says this? If anybody can shed some light for me on this I'd be so happy.

It shows up as unspecified coin because the APIs of the various pools don't usually give out that information, only that you are mining a specific algo, and the API returns what your profits are.

hey guys idk if anyone watches this thread but ive been having some problems setting up my awesome miner and am not finding anyone else with this issue, first of all I am wondering if I need to predownload all the mining software like ccminer 2.2.3 and other software or will it automatically download and use this software for me? I am able to mine on miningpoolhub setting with auto profit switching but as soon as I click the box to add zpool or hashrefinery it stops my awesome miner from working at all.. until I disable all but miningpoolhub.

thanks for any help

Aren't you just supposed to put your worker name in the MPH settings for profit switching?  Why are you using a wallet address?  For Zpool and Hashrefinery, you are just using a bitcoin address in the profit switching settings in AM, right?

Ok, then that definitely looks like a bug.
476  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner]- Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 5000 miners on: December 21, 2017, 08:42:02 PM
Sometimes rigs just plain lock up or otherwise stop mining.  Most of the time this is detectable in AM.  I'd like to implement some kind of hardware-based physical cycling of power on a rig based on AM notifications/rules.  Does anyone have recommendations on what to use to achieve this?  I'm assuming AM is capable of this, even if it requires C# coding.  I haven't gotten that far yet.  The alternative is some kind of local heartbeat monitoring outside of AM.  This may make more sense anyway in case AM is down, etc.

I use a Raspberry Pi with some relays and some software that someone developed here on Bitcointalk:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1933467.0

There's also the SimpleMiner Rig Resetter:

https://shop.simplemining.net/ssrv2.html?___SID=U

Though, he's out of stock until January.  It's a little pricey... which is why I rolled my own resetter relay based on the Raspberry Pi... plus a I had a couple of Pis sitting around doing nothing.

Sorry if this is out there but I couldn't find it.
What is the best way to set the miner NOT to mine a coin?
I found out that I can do that by not selecting the algorithm of that coin, but I don't wanna miss other coins of the same algor.
I just want the miner not to mine just that one coin, not the whole algo.
Please help, or link me to the old topic of this.
I appreciate your help.

I'm assuming you are using a profit miner?  If so, which one?  If you want to exclude a certain coin on an algo, then you will have to setup a pool for every coin you want to mine at that site, and put them in a pool group.  It's a lot of work, if there's a few dozen coins in that algo.

But... if you are using a profit miner, then you are generally at the mercy of what the multi-algo pool says is most profitable.  I know that some pools like zpool can switch you to non-profitable coins in order to keep performance up, or to reach a minimum amount of coins so that they can send it to an exchange.

@patrike I have a few bugs:

 - when trying to update, it downloads the package, exits, it says upgrading, then half way it exits and the old version starts again. Currently runing 4.24

It happens to me from time to time.  Just try again later.

Can you upload a screenshot of your rule so we can take a look at it?

- if i set up a managed miner, with claymore settings of -wd 1 and -r 1, when i check the details and command line it's with -wd 1 -r -1

If you are using the custom claymore settings at the pool level, there's a column for the setting and one for the value.  Make sure the setting just says r and the value on the same line says 1.

I am looking to get Awesome Miner

But i have a problem

It is not picking up my Graphics Cards
EVGA GTX 1060 6GB Mining Edition

I have updated my Drivers and still no luck

Any way I can get the software to pick up my cards?

What mining software are you trying to use?  Are you trying to use a managed miner or a profit miner?  What coin or algorithm are you trying to mine?

Awesome miner doesn't "detect" your GPU... the mining software has to support the card and be able to detect the card.

I tried adding my own ccminer into AwesomeMiner and failed miserably... How would one go about doing this? I went into Options -> Managed Software and play around with that GUI but there's no obvious way to specify the location of the new ccminer binaries nor a way to import them into AwesomeMiner...

Thanks!
