I really can't wait for NEM launch!

Quick question: will the Beta include a working NEM Asset Exchange?

I have some ideas for some assets and would love to roll out some high quality NEM assets as soon as possible after launch Wink
462  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Beta is almost here[Updates & Discussion] on: October 12, 2014, 12:52:13 PM
But it may have a problem of a lawsuit by stakeholders who did not receive coins in the future when NEM value is incredibly high.

463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Beta is almost here[Updates & Discussion] on: October 12, 2014, 07:44:49 AM
To calm this discussion down.
We are discussion the option to redeem stakes longer than we had planed and even after launch but for a fee as solix suggested.
Meaning the longer the people fail to redeem the fewer NEM they get. What they don't get goes into development, marketing and whatnot.
It will not be a year. Are you guys delusional ? I'm sorry i don't mean to be disrespectfull but that's pure insanity. A year ? What value could those people  be to NEM if they only care to check in every year ?

Seems like a good compromise - would also suggest putting the deadline (the deadline before the fee starts being applied) in the title and OP of all NEM threads. Make it as hard as possible for those who don't claim to ever say they were treated unfairly, didn't know and couldn't have known without digging through tons of NEM posts/threads.

patmast3r your idea sounds like an OK compromise. These people who forgot about their stake could bring a lot of value to NEM. Can you imagine the story about the guy who forgot his stake and was a millionaire (or it if was worth 10K + USD)? Just like the really early Bitcoin millionaires who forgot about their coins Smiley We want to make NEM something positive and I believe this includes giving people positive experiences like discovering they are rich from their old, forgotten NEM stake! Personally I would support a year or more - as by my logic if someone has purchased something (a NEM stake) it does belong to them - no matter when they decide to claim it.

I fear a negative backlash when "Joe average" goes to redeem his forgotten NEM stake and discovers he has nothing! Ethically it is wrong. Compare this to the stories of the early Bitcoin adopters who forgot they had some coins stashed away and made hundreds of thousands / millions in fiat. When NEM becomes huge this will bring down a shitstorm upon NEM if old early adopters can't claim their stakes - you have all been warned Wink

If anyone here is worried about early NEM adopters claiming their stakes and "cashing them in" you are showing that you don't believe the NEM ecosystem can handle some sell offs in the future, and therefore don't really believe in the potential of NEM Tongue

EDIT: This is the last I'll say on the topic - but when NEM is huge and all the old early supporters come out to claim their stakes don't blame me when NEM crashes and burns from a public backlash, instead of rising even higher from all the awesome stories of the old adopters who are now NEMilllionares Wink Your thinking is backwards and NEM will suffer because of it.
464  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Beta is almost here[Updates & Discussion] on: October 11, 2014, 09:30:09 PM
Everything has risk. Sometimes to do the ethical thing is more risky but it is right.

So you want people to buy nem on exchanges with a risk that anyone with access to BTT harddrive can crash nem? Why not put warning on top of client so people are warned that 500 million to billion mem can be stolen by BTTT owners? That way they are informed that nem is open to large theft before taking the risk of buying.

If a NEM stake claim has to be checked manually before final redemption it will be obvious if hundreds are being claimed at once from the same IP address. Same thing could happen to BTC if one of the large exchanges were hacked. Risk in crypto is nothing new. Just my opinion but I think NEM should let people claim their stake up to a year - otherwise NEM isn't showing itself to be fair and a New Economy Movement at all.
465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Beta is almost here[Updates & Discussion] on: October 11, 2014, 09:20:15 PM
Well that's something, but I'm really surprised at how most people here don't seem to care about those people who may miss the launch of NEM for some reason, and decide to check in later to find out it was all for nothing ... Seems more like how a bank operates lol.

If you are that worried, even though they have a month of emails and warning, then lets delay the launch to December.

We cannot and should not launch a coin with potential theft of billion coins after the launch.

No we can launch and people can claim stakes after launch. Just my opinion.

No, as we cannot launch when there is potential threat of large theft. Crypto transactions are irreversible. We can catch the problems before the launch and fix them, but we can't after the launch as then all transactions would be final. No launch until this issue is settled.

Everything has risk. Sometimes to do the ethical thing is more risky but it is right.

I don't want to be here in the shitstorm in a months time, when NEM is accused of scamming, people are really, really angry when, if instead they could claim their stake they would be valuable members of NEM community Wink
467  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Beta is almost here[Updates & Discussion] on: October 11, 2014, 09:14:39 PM
When people paid to buy a NEM stake I don't remember there being a time limit to claim the stake. It is just my opinion but I think we all need to keep grounded and not lose sight of common sense values (such as if someone pays for something it belongs to them). Otherwise what kind of movement are we really creating?

You keep ignoring the fact that leaving 100s of stakes open forever means that there is good chance someone with access to BTT server will have power to steal these stakes and kill/crash nem completely. How is that crypto?  The fate of unclaimed stakes must be decided before the distribution.

That is the first good argument I have heard for having a time limit on claiming the stakes. One month is still too short we need to give people more time ...

EDIT: Although I don't think there is a good chance that would happen.

Why don't you think there is a not good chance that will happen? All BTT messages are archived on some hard drive. The BTT owner can already do that, so can everyone with access to that machine, not just now but someday in future one or two year from now.   How are you putting the entire fate of nem in the hands of people you don't know? Why the heck anyone should buy nem when it's fate  is totally insecure with future influx of "billion" nem from unknown people?

I don't care how long you want that wait to continue. Nem should not launch until this issue is settled.

I agree a decision needs to be made.

People should have a year to claim their stakes...

Are you trying to give patmast3r an embolism?   Cheesy
Cheesy I even disagree with the guy but am starting to feel bad for him.

Well if the process was somehow automated for the next steps, hopefully no one would get an embolism  Cheesy

It should be much longer than a month or there are going to be some seriously disappointed and angry people in a months time. No one wants that  Cry

The New Economy Movement is on its way , we cant be dilly dallying.....!!!!!!!

There are people out there who don't live glued to this forum, and who we are stealing from if we don't give them their share when they decide to check what NEM is up to...

' when they decide to check' .... I repeat, we cant dilly dally on our way.......

NEM can still launch fine .. stealing from people who have invested money in NEM is wrong.

failing to collect something you have purchased does not equal the merchant stealing. if you place a deposit on an item in a shop, the shop will tell you that you have x days or weeks to pay the full amount or you lose the deposit. i dont see the difference. the people who joined this movement did not purchase coins because it was not an ipo. they payed a registration fee to join this movement so its not theft if they fail to be active and in turn lose the right to membership. this redemption of stakes can be considered more of a redemption of membership. if you fail to redeem your membership you lose the benefits of being a member - in this case it just happens that the perk of being a member is getting some nem.

I think this whole discussion is becoming a huge distraction. We will have another discussion with the dev team and try to come up with a plan or a solution regarding the unclaimed stakes problem.

Let's not get carried away and forget that beta and official launch are pretty close now. Both the dev team and marketing team are working to prepare some good stuff for the launch. As for dumps and other stuff, I think people will get a good idea what NEM is all about once we start delivering.

People should have a year to claim their stakes - after that the NEM gets used for something else.

You guys are doing an amazing job. Can't wait to see what's in store xtester!

NODE's problem is marketing. I'm a stakeholder and I want to do a press release for NODE (http://bitcoinprbuzz.com/services). I will also accept payment in NODE for the press release. I've contacted the dev about this previously but never heard back.. I hope the community or the dev can get behind this!
476  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] HYPER ~The Game Currency ~ Merchant App ~5% Monthly PoS ~ Live Games on: October 11, 2014, 07:18:50 AM
A lot of good news!

Any word on Zandagort? Really interested if anything will happen regards to that game ?

Still a long term goal. Still interviewing people to tackle the Hungarian and code the HYPER integration into the game. Slowly but surely making progress!

Are you guys in talks with other game developers, to get the coin integrated?

We certainly are. The HYPER Federation (http://twitter.com/hyperfed) is currently reaching out to a number of games and other services to expand the HYPER ecosystem further. We are in touch with many games and businesses but I don't want to announce anything publicly until we have finalized our partnerships.

Here is some of the latest big news from the press release (http://finance.yahoo.com/news/going-where-bitcoin-t-disruptive-105800834.html) and a HYPER update for everyone:

HYPER is designed to accomplish two things: to bring the world stable monetary growth outside of traditional banking and to be an open source currency catered specifically to the needs of game environments. Meaningless "High Scores" will soon be a thing of the past. Now gamers’ scores can have a direct, fungible monetary value: gaming is about to get a whole lot more competitive.

Games currently on HYPER servers:

- HyperZanda.com (a classic space MMO with a cult following)
- Counter-Strike
- Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (both CS servers have a monthly blitz where the top player wins 2,000 HYPER)
- Pokemon Minecraft
- @HyperTipBot on Twitter allows you to tip any Twitter user instantly in HYPER

Definite upcoming servers / games:

- World of Warcraft Arena monthly tournament coming very soon
- Team Fortress 2 server coming very soon
- Just Cause 2 server coming very soon
- Another Minecraft server is coming too.
- HYPER space MMO is a long term project

Prominent exchanges and payment gateways adding HYPER with Paypal and credit card payments:

In the weeks ahead, a number of convenient fiat and credit card payment gateways will become available, making it easy for gamers to buy HYPER with USD using any major credit card and PayPal. For the time being, U.S. exchange Bittrex.com is the most popular market for buying or selling HYPER (https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-HYPER).

Soon, U.S. exchanges CoinMKT and AltMarket will also offer HYPER trading on their platforms.

iPhone and Android App Casheer will be integrating HYPER (please so OP for screenshots).

HYPER news and updates can also be seen by following http://twitter.com/hyperfed and http://hyper.cash/blog

The HYPER Federation also continues to also pursue more game and online business partnerships for HYPER.

As well as David Seaman (http://twitter.com/d_seaman) Justin Gliefer has joined our business development team in the US.

David Seaman continues to discuss HYPER extensively in his podcasts: http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/david-seaman-hour-full (here is the latest episode http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/david-seaman-hour-full/e/35640763?autoplay=true)

I continue to lead HYPER development worldwide.

Thank you everyone for your support. I will have more big announcements to make as HYPER moves forward securing even more exchanges, online games, and team members: as we keep expanding the HYPER ecosystem with more ways to play, earn and spend HYPER.

As usual, anyone can PM me with any ideas they have for HYPER game integration or to help HYPER grow. Would especially like to hear from people who would like to be game server admins, and game developers. Bounties are available Wink

Awesome work HYPERfuture and team. HYPER is really starting to take off now. Has anyone else noticed there is only 8 BTC of sell orders on Bittrex to get HYPER to over 100 000 sats? Most people seem to be holding and staking their HYPER. With all of these positive developments I can guess the HYPER price is headed up. We also covered the latest press release on our website: http://bitcoinprbuzz.com/going-where-bitcoin-cant-disruptive-online-gaming-currency-hyper/

Hypercrypto.com site is back up - the dev puts his own time and energy into this project when he can.

HYPERfuture has contacted me and said real life has been very demanding for him recently - but that he is going to begin working on HYPER full time again within the next week or so.

He has always been honest and always delivers in the end.

I personally think this is just a small hiccup in the road and HYPER will be a great success.
480  Economy / Services / Re: The best VPS and website host for Bitcoin? on: August 19, 2014, 03:21:54 PM
I use BitVPS for all of my VPS servers and not had hardly any issues at all.  I know the guy who runs it and he is a solid fella for sure!

https://bitvps.com/

Damn, I got excited about this but then I saw they are based out of the US so that's definitely a NO for me.

Anyone know of a Bitcoin accepting VPS in a better jurisdiction?

They offer VPS in NYC?

I personally don't mind if they're based elsewhere - as long as they offer US based and other servers - and have been around for a while so I know they're reliable.

Bitvps looks pretty good and it's good to hear the owner is a good guy - I just need to know they're going to be around for a while!
