Got two 13.5th today . They were on oct 25 firmware. Saw the nov 2 firmware and installed on one.
Boards ran hot, fan was at 20%. Temps were 108c. Rolled back to oct 27, temps cooler.
They do run quietly at 20% fan but those temps are too scary for me.
They still cycled the fan speed. No hwe.

Here is the link to s9 oct 27 autotune firmware

http://www76.zippyshare.com/v/JGWEtCNi/file.html

Good until 30 days no activity.

How are you doing 20% fan?
With autotune firmware  the fan speed is set automatically like the frequency.

@Sierra8561 If you scroll to the bottom of the kernel log the last 7 lines show the temps and fan speed.  If you refresh that page those 7 lines will refresh values so you can see what fan speed the autotune is selecting.
Thank you, I see the chip temps. It says Fan PWM: 10. What does that mean?

I would bet that it means 10%.  If I look at the bmminer.conf file on my older S9's where I have static fan speed the line says: "bitmain-fan-pwm" : "90", which in that case means it is set to 90%.

EDIT: Also just for the record I did try altering the bmminer.conf file on the autotune one to have the manual fan speed and set the speed (two different commands) and the settings are ignored.

Check out the hashrate on this one!  Too bad all those shares are apparently under 1k.  No valid shares for 3 minutes.  This is an entirely different pool than the one where this was happening in my previous post.

You may have tried this, but have you flashed different firmware? Sorry didn't read back through everything if you have.

Heh.  That's kind of funny actually.  Yes this is the 4th firmware I have tried.  I was actually stuck on Nov 1st firmware for a minute there since it wouldn't allow me to flash a different one after I put it on there but they released a fix for that problem.

I am inclined to think this is a controller problem since it doesn't seem to be a problem that different firmware is fixing.  But I don't know.  Completely unlike anything I have ever seen before.

EDIT:  OMFG I think I just earned a lifetime membership to the stupid club.  It was an IP address conflict.  I kept putting it on a static IP that was in use.  It is an IP that used to have an S5 on it quite a ways back but I forgot that I had put an ether mining rig on it.  I have a spreadsheet and it was recorded in there, I just wasn't checking it.  I have an old browser favorite left over from the S5 so I was just using that.  So my aggravation was a result of my own stupidity.  But now the miner is working fine so I got that going for me  Cheesy

Looks like they have a fix upgrade download now.

I see it!  Anyone know how to use it?  The instructions are not exactly clear.

EDIT: Well I uploaded the fix package just like I would a regular firmware and I have had a spinning wheel with this ever since:

Upload firmware image ...

(please wait a minute)

Been around 10 minutes I think.  I can access the gui with another computer and everything appears more or less normal from there but I don't know if it is really doing something or not.  I guess I'll give it an hour or so and then try to upload another regular firmware package.

Well the fix package did allow me to update the firmware again so that's something.  Meanwhile back to the same problems I had before. Notice the LSTIME number as well as the hashrate.  It goes minutes without submitting a share.  No way that should be happening.

Unfortunately I tried upgrading firmware to today's and yesterday's and now it won't let me upgrade again.  It is stuck with yesterday's firmware and it throws an error if I try and upgrade to anything else.  It goes minutes at a time without submitting shares.  Total piece of shit. Poolside hashrate was a joke submitting a handful of share every 5-10 minutes despite the web gui claiming it was hashing at 10k-13k.

I have reconnected my S7 for now.

I just upgraded all my 4x S9 B19 miners from Wed Oct 26 File System Version to Wed Nov 2 with no problems.

I had no problem upgrading to that one either.  But when it continued to do the yo-yo hashrate I went for the Nov 1st firmware.  Now I am stuck on that one, but there seems to be larger problems because it does not submit hardly any shares either.  The last share time both in the GUI and on the pool side will go greater than 6 minutes.  That is clearly abnormal at 10-13Th at any reasonable difficulty.  Poolside diff dropped to the minimum the pool will do and it was still going many minutes between shares while claiming it was hashing in the GUI.

Got a batch 19 today.  The hashrate goes up and down like a yo-yo (as do the fan speeds).  What the hell is the deal?  I tried today's firmware but it is actually worse than the one that came on it which was dated from the middle of last month.  It hits the advertised hashrate but since it spends so much time drifting down to low hashrates the average is much lower than the advertised rate.

It will hash fine for 5 to 10 minutes then one, two, or sometimes all three boards suddenly start drifting towards zero.  They end somewhere around 50-100 and then hover there for 2 or 3 minutes then crank back up to full until they do it again.  When this is happening there tend to be a lot of hardware errors too, at least on the firmware released today.

EDIT: Also the web page is much less responsive.  Additionally it runs the boards a little hotter than I would.  Todays firmware is allowing temps of 110 before it turns up the fans.  Also the PCB temps have been removed.
490  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Be careful: BITMAIN ANTMINERS have NO WARRANTY and after-sales customer service on: November 02, 2016, 02:18:57 AM
The disturbing part as that the OP tried to contact them in several ways to figure out how they could make it right and they blew him off.  You can get away with that if you are a monopoly, which for now they are, but that may not always be the case.  I competitor that can't out-compete bitmain on price but can on service, could still make a go of it.  A competitor that can compete on cost and also has customer service will bury them.
491  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Simple S9 repair/overclock guide on: November 02, 2016, 12:08:32 AM
Just FYI for anyone who does this, those things are really tiny and you can't tell that from OP's super large images.  You are going to want a very sharp pencil.  I basically covered half of the resistor with graphite but it wound up being especially shiny along the edge since I was working without a magnifying glass and I am not exactly a surgeon.  But I took it apart and did it 3 times total to work up to a decent result.  Pretty pleased with how it is performing now.  Finally getting the advertised hashrate.
492  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Simple S9 repair/overclock guide on: November 01, 2016, 04:19:11 PM
Thanks for this!  My batch 3 is running at stock freq without any X's for the first time ever.  The problematic hashboard still under-performs the other two slightly but it is getting higher hashrate then it ever has before.

Well I have to say, after a pretty crappy start yesterday this pool actually shaped up to be one of the better ones.  The nicehash pool looks to have been a straight up theft of all mining hashrate and their daemon was horked up for a while so the pool didn't even find blocks for many hours due to that (I ended up sending them some free hash in that time).  The miningpoolhub pool shut down very early on since they couldn't get the thing stable.  I heard people saying that coinsforall.io wasn't paying at all either.  I did get a couple payouts from suprnova while the price was still stupid (but far less than how stupid it started) so that was something.  I ended up pointing everything back here for now.

Just had my farm running 100% for some few hours after I got a shipment back from Bitmain. 2 x S9 boards and 5 x S7 boards...
Now one S9 miner just lost 2 boards, so 100% was just a short luck.... I hate these S9`s with the BMiner 2.0
Just noticed if I try to downgrade firmware I get a firmware failure....

yikes.  My final S7 is getting replaced by an S9 tomorrow or Tuesday when it arrives from UPS.  I tried waiting for an alternative but there just isn't one.  I hate to replace this S7 too, it is an early batch S7 with the extra chips and has been running OC'd past 5 Th/s since about the 3rd of 4th week I had it and never had a problem, even found a block here last spring.  I sure hope this S9 is problem free for me.

How did you get payout? It says on the website that payouts are disabled and my payout address and threshold were both deleted from my settings.

I didn't make an autopayment on my account and a didnt set the withdrawal address

This. Who had the time to register a valid mainnest address in the 1h window before the go-live and Suprnova's outage?

this is the quote from forum z.cash a conversation of 2 guys

really who had time to register a valid mainnet adress ? plus when most of miners are mining from windows and doesnt have windows wallet ?

I did actually but the minimum payout was .01.  I was about half way to that when the pool went completely tits up but I was just finishing ramping up my whole mine.  I had only been checking it out to see if it was worth my time.  So when I saw that it was and went and turned everything up the pool website died completely.  I am turning everything elsewhere now.

EDIT: The website was up for a minute, I logged in and it showed my balance as 0.  Hmm...  Back down again now apparently.

Well this is a bummer.  I could have used 5 or 6 BTC which is about what the ZEC I already mined was worth 10 minutes ago.  Already down to like 1 BTC and no doubt much much less by the time I actually get anything to the exchange.  Undecided

I kind of wish I had just mined direct to nicehash now.

website unusable...

meanwhile ZEC is trading for an obscene amount

Well, BW.com has at least four 14nm miners that I know: BW B11, BW B11-PLUS, BW B12 and BW B16.
No public release for sales though.

If that's true then I stand corrected.  I knew they had some currently competitive chips but I thought they were 16 and not 14.
