481  Economy / Economics / Re: Will a bank being hacked boost adoption of bitcoin? on: June 15, 2015, 12:03:51 PM
Well, even if they don't get hacked, the money printing business is already a good enough reason to convince me that I will need to switch over to bitcoin. Fact is, this is happening all the time and people failed to see it or they just ignore it. Maybe like what you've said, a major scandal involving bank accounts getting compromised will make these people finally realized.
482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does Bitcoin mean to you (A poll) on: June 15, 2015, 11:29:26 AM
Well, investment and making money sort of stuff is not my main agenda although at some point it is connected but that does not really matter. The closest would be to have the freedom of my spending power not being controlled and determined by the banks, so my vote goes to option #3. I hope the rest sees the real potential, threats and even weaknesses that exist in the current financial system.
483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank Of Hungary – Issued Warning For Crypto Currencies on: June 15, 2015, 11:13:29 AM
I don't understand why onecoin is thrown in the picture and it's somehow quite misleading as it was being regarded as having similar status to bitcoin. There are two onecoins that I know. One is probably dead and the other bearing a completely different logo and algo.

Whatever it is, the author definitely needs to separate bitcoin and onecoin apart. If the bank needs to analyze bitcoin legitimacy, let it be *only* bitcoin alone.
484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: anyone read this article: The scam called Bitcoin? on: June 15, 2015, 11:01:56 AM
I don't know whether the author did even consider bitcoin as a currency in the first place where you can actually use it and spend rather than treating it as purely investment.

The author assumes that everybody holds on to their coins hoping that price will increase someday to be able to sell off and for it to happen there must be new buyers and so that's how he arrive to that conclusion on ponzi scheme. But nevertheless, all of that arguments were never taken into account if bitcoin as a currency did function as it was intended to be for example to facilitate cross border transaction and such, so I would say it's rather unfair to label bitcoin as a scam.
485  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Negative full page Bitcoin ad in Swedish newspaper, paid by big Swedish bank(!) on: June 14, 2015, 04:02:43 AM
Having read through the translated version, I would say it's not entirely negative in a way that it also throws in some positive fact about bitcoin. I would say it's more towards sending a message of caution that "you will need to find out more information before investing in it". Other than that, I would say overall it's okay.
486  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Mathematician John Nash Help Invent Bitcoin? on: June 14, 2015, 03:55:50 AM
Their contribution indeed made a lot of difference and without them, we would never realize that there is another alternative to another form of money system which is possible. I can imagine people like Newton, Franklin being credited for their theories that eventually changed our lives, so maybe we should also thought about giving them the credit where is due.
487  Economy / Securities / Re: Will get about 50 btc to invest, looking for great investment oppurtunities on: June 13, 2015, 06:38:26 AM
Currently, the safest investments are a trezor or a paperwallet.  Cheesy

Seriously though, I do not believe there are any programs or systems that are real and safe, where you can invest.
I know of BTCJam, and have heard of good things if you diversify and do small transactions with only A and B Verfied, but have never used it.

You should just hold for long term.

I am just trying to get some suggestions or business offers to invest if i dont get a great one, i will hold the coins, the value will appreciate over time.

Looking at current situation right now, it's still much safer to just hold on to your coins and not doing anything while waiting for adoption to pick up and go mainstream. Invest in some security hardware wallets to protect your coins to make sure it's safe. While waiting you can continue to increase your stash size and buying at every opportunity when there is a drop.
488  Economy / Economics / Re: Will the Chinese Yuan supersede the US Dollar in the future? on: June 13, 2015, 06:18:44 AM
Well maybe yes but that's not going to mean that usd position will be affected in favor of yuan for that matter. The currency for the past years have been severely manipulated by the central bank to weaken it to give their economy a competitive edge in business and unless that changes together with their existing monetary policy, things are still going to stay the same. The chinese are also being very carefully not to prep their currency too much obviously to some other reasons, so we might not see that happening for now.
489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mike Hearn: In about 1-2 weeks, Bitcoin XT will include support for 20mb blocks on: June 13, 2015, 06:09:37 AM
Think it's about time this gets implemented. The more it get dragged on the more insecurity arising from speculation and the fudsters are obviously having a good time spreading lies to fulfill their agenda. People generally would not take in or accept a change unless the see the results so if we don't start right now then when? However to imply that its a do or die mission is kinda of misleading and i hope to see this getting applied asap.
490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is in deep trouble. Litecoin to take its place soon. on: June 13, 2015, 04:22:37 AM
If bitcoin ever fails, I don't see any other alternative at this moment worth taking over its place. People would have lost trust on alternate currency as a whole and it doesn't matter if the next has major improvement over the other. Just accept the fact, every alternative right now is using bitcoin as a benchmark for their price.
491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mastercard attacking Bitcoin on: June 13, 2015, 04:10:12 AM
When you have a business model where your competitor stands a greater chance to win and totally out compete and squeeze you out, it's normal that you will do anything to prevent that. Bitcoin is still at its infancy stage and it is at this period that the reputation is most vulnerable
492  Economy / Speculation / Re: If bitcoin bubbles again, Chinese exchanges will have problems on: June 13, 2015, 03:55:25 AM
I think that is quite possible for the exchangers to keep the bubbles afloat. As long as there are speculative funds coming in to buy bitcoins, they can continue to sell and counter balance the amount of funds between the in and out. Not sure how long this can go on while I see government measure generally are just restrictive but doesn't mean that it is completely fool proof.
493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The lowered transaction fees in Bitcoin core 0.10.2 are excellent on: June 13, 2015, 03:22:28 AM
Just few cents is not going to be a big deal but imagine if all that adds up. However, in this case, should I treat it as good or bad because don't forget that the long term plan once the 21 mil has been completely mined, the idea is for the transaction fee to take over the reward given to miner instead of new blocks. If this means the network can sustain itself with that fee so low unless the condition of price per bitcoin changes considerably high.
494  Economy / Economics / Re: Greece has made an important concession on: June 12, 2015, 12:42:43 PM
What I see here is basically digging up some dirt from one place to cover up another hole at another place. Whatever measures proposed is merely to please the lenders and it's a matter of time all these will collapse because nobody would want to give a free handout anymore. You can't continue to cut and hoping that the citizen will be content with the way things are. The way things are going it's like moving to a dead end.
495  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 175 Quadrillion Zimbabwean Dollars Now Equals 0.02164502 BTC on: June 12, 2015, 12:33:07 PM
I wonder why up to this point, people still failed to see the simple fact that fiat currency is totally unreliable and opened to manipulation. Well that is just one example, and what you don't see are those that did something in the background that goes totally unnoticed. The difference here is generally how bad or how worse it gets.
496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fiat crashes Bitcoin on: June 12, 2015, 12:22:29 PM
That really caught me by surprise and off-guard. In fact I was preparing to attack and my first thought was that it must be another joker media trying to blow things out of proportion as what we've seen happened days earlier. But never mind, nothing like a good laugh to cheer up the day
497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin vulnerable? on: June 12, 2015, 12:14:37 PM
I don't understand why suddenly this becomes an issue. Each country in the world have their own power generation capability and capacity. For a global blackout to take place all at the same time, you are talking about probability that is so small that is almost negligible. Unless you are referring to a solar storm which probably is somehow possible but very rare but then, what are the chances for it to hit every country in the world.
498  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: On a scale of 1 to 10, How Excited (!!!) Are You About BTC and the... on: June 11, 2015, 12:27:58 PM
Well I must say initially it started at perfect 10 but right now it's about 9 and still going strong. So, does it matter? For me, 9 out of 10 still means it's good enough and I won't move away from what I believe, even if the price continues to drop as long as the core fundamental is there on what a true currency is all about, I'm still with bitcoin.
499  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin isn’t the future of money — it’s either a Ponzi scheme on: June 11, 2015, 12:21:43 PM
When I read the article, first thing that came to my mind is that there are obviously people or organization hoping and wanting to see bitcoin fall at all cost. And the more I read, the more I treasure my coins because these people obviously look at the network as a threat and who says that bitcoin isn't the future of money. Not me...
500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would You Ever Take Out a Loan in Bitcoin? on: June 11, 2015, 12:12:22 PM
Not me, but I did consider the option before. For instance, if you predict the price of btc is going to crash very soon, you can take a btc loan, sell it for quick cash, and then buy back again when it's cheaper. Even though you have to pay back the interest for the loan in btc, eventually if you work out the maths carefully, you are still on the winning side. If you get what I mean...
