The attacker's motivation was apparently  -snip-
I don't think we should recognise his motivation at all. Who cares what was in his sick mind anyway.
Egomaniacal psychopaths are all the same, radicalism of theirs only leads to suffering and pain of innocents.
If there is a lesson to be learned from all this madness, it is to stay unaffected and give zero care about that "man".
Cold blooded murderer deserves nothing else than cold dark cell for the rest of his miserable life.

Stop making stupid people famous, rarely is more adequate.
482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mt.Gox founder Mark Karpeles Sentenced to Over Two Years. Is This a Joke? on: March 15, 2019, 01:58:38 PM
You think that's bad? Look at the alternative:
-snip-
No, I'm not saying this is bad, inhumane, horrible or anything like that, although he was also interrogated for many, many hours straight.
All I was trying to say is that he was imprisoned for long time in a place that is far worse then regular jail cell.
Now imagine that Venezuelan prison but with one difference, solitude. Stone cold walls and you, nothing else but maybe droplets of water splashing here and there... I say madness in 3..2..1..

-snip-
ever been to asia?

Unfortunately no, I wasn't lucky enough. But we cant compare honeycomb hotels, which are voluntary and usually with lot's of other guest as a company, to involuntary solitary prison cell, no matter how small.
483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mt.Gox founder Mark Karpeles Sentenced to Over Two Years. Is This a Joke? on: March 15, 2019, 12:21:12 PM
If it's somehow makes you more comfortable with this outrageous sentence, bear in mind that he was serving seven months in solitary confinement, before the investigators could build the case. Japan has quite draconian pre-trail "waiting rooms" , they look like supermax prisons in the US.
I'm aware that this is nothing of an excuse, however no solid evidence of his direct involvement in a hack was found.
“The charge of electronic record tampering is true and deserves punishment, but there’s no criminal evidence of embezzlement,” the court said in final verdict. At the least his reputation is destroyed.
484  Other / Meta / Re: What topics do you want to see here, and where should they be posted? on: March 15, 2019, 09:06:28 AM
I would like to see some more science related topics.
Regardless it will be computer science, biology, psychology, physics I need more of it Smiley
We have no science related boards, so I guess off-topic is the place to go, maybe serious discussion as well.
I'm more than sure there are a lot of scientific minds among us, some cool math or chemistry lessons could get posted for us to read.
Someone can even benefit from such threads, as getting few more perspectives in teaching, is rare and those lessons don't grow on trees.
485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which Altcoin brought your biggest profit? on: March 15, 2019, 08:23:41 AM
For me it was xrb, the raiblocks.
In it's early stage, before name changed in to nano, it was a real micropayments killer app.
Hand mining was quite profitable throughout the distribution, it got me a little under half a bitcoin.
Good times although not easy, If I have had only waited few months more with the dump... but no regrets Smiley
486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bill gates says cryptocurrency is bad on: March 14, 2019, 06:41:10 PM
He also said that internet never going to be a big deal... it was in 1994 I guess, he said something along those lines;
there is no commercial potential for the Internet, well yeah... he was wrong xD
I'm ignoring those so called gurus, for quite some time now, they are usually full of crap and have hidden agendas.
Better to stick to your own intuition and experience,  this way you can only blame yourself if something goes wrong.
487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What If Nothing Change In 2019? on: March 13, 2019, 04:52:04 PM
Then I would just continue on holding my crypto's,
And if I could I would buy some more and get ready for the ride to the moon.
Basically the only sane solution at this point. No need to be anxious about the markets, they will recover at some point.
All depends on out ability to recognise good coins and support them. Invest bit by bit and consider today prices as promotions.
Although I won't be surprised if nothing happens, saturation is great, so as market stagnation. Stagnation or rather stabilisation, which is not a bad thing at all, quite the opposite in fact.
488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to avoid Dump after listing on: March 13, 2019, 11:04:10 AM
Almost everyone who bought the tokens immediately begin to sell , and in particular in the first place sell earlier project investors and hunters , I think this can not be avoided in this market
Probably the only reasonable option is the introduction of staking.
Staked, mature coins are in need of profiting the holder more than those freshly bought.
This way at lest some of the users can get incentivised to hold funds a bit longer then usual.
Obviously not a bulletproof method but better than nothing. Such systems can be developed furthermore, equipped with extra options for those who hold for significant periods of time. Problem is with coin supply, if its infinite inflation comes in to being.
489  Economy / Gambling / Re: ★★★ Bitcoin Video Casino ★★★ - ||| Over 500 BTC in Progressive Jackpots! ||| on: March 13, 2019, 09:17:14 AM

Who would be interested?

Hi, I'm definitely interested although obligation no'5 seem a little over committing.
Managing someone else's money... that would require quite a lot of trust, right?
Maybe you could send me some more details through pm or telegram if you want?
please note: I'm not a native English speaker, have no experience as a manager and I'm unwilling to disclose any (unreasonable) personal information. I would prefer to take bitcointalk.org representative position only, consider my application as backup plan in case nobody else reports in.
490  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin has no practical use and could be damaging to the economy! on: March 13, 2019, 08:12:08 AM
How is it damaging to the economy when it's value came from all the fiat used to buy it and it's not even made out of thin air? It's just basically money, just more easy to send across countries.
Just looking at the link, this seems to be a hit piece, especially since we know the Indian gov't is somewhat hostile to bitcoin.
Classic economy has this argument, that deflationary currency is making market to slow and even to stop developing.
Funny thing is that is was never proven, it's a stupid dogma created by shills of the current banking systems.
As India is without a doubt a developing country, they don't want to stop this process prematurely, however relying on false premisses of market theory makes them hostile towards crypto, because it is deflationary in nature.
Inflation based development is usually very slow and gradual, easy to predict while deflation makes markets to jump, spike in huge leaps up. Ruling class can't allow for the status quo to change at all, that's how.

492  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What do you think should I buy for 1 year? on: March 12, 2019, 11:25:54 AM
If this 1K is not that important to you than I think you can go a little crazy with it.
My suggestion is to buy some BTX BitCore. Forked shit coin that is very nicely managed and seriously treated by it's devs.
Not the safest investment nor the most unsafe but quite stable, with decent chances for growing.
Other option is of course good'old bitcoin but it looks like it may be to boring for you.
Watch out for yourself out there, stay safe and don't forget the password for you new altcoin wallet  Roll Eyes
493  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Gambler's way on: March 12, 2019, 10:41:51 AM
No such thing as luck and such thing as strategy in gambling.
Everting is a coincidence, of course only  if any given game is without preset options, designed to cheat the player.
Exception is the BlackJack where card can be counted but basically it is impossible to do online.
The only possible gambling theory of strategy that I can accept is the method of how and when to stop betting, to limit loses.
The sooner gambler realises, that when following some intricate strategy or lucky charms he is deluding himself, the better.
494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If everyone in the world owned bitcoin each would have 0.003btc on: March 11, 2019, 07:24:25 PM
So would this mean there will be a shortage of the available bitcoin accessible to those who would want to own some of this cryptocurrency?
News flash: It already have happened, look at the price  Grin
This thing so rare and expensive that maybe 1% of our world society can afford buying some.
And take in to consideration how many satoshis are lost forever... to  me i looks more like 0.0024 per person and this is very optimistic scenario. Kinda gives some perspective when you think about it, there where times when you could get this much on faucets. Mad.
495  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto Vs Lotto on: March 11, 2019, 12:21:06 PM
Winning the lottery it's a matter of luck, it has nothing to do with cryptocurrency, and why should anyone stop playing lottery to invest in cryptocurrency, you can do both in the same time.
-snip-
Sure you can do both but does it really makes any sense?
What OP is saying is basically, don't waste you money but rather save it, in form of cryptocurrency.
Instead of buying tickets for the lottery, that you will going to loose anyway, buy a little bit of bitcoin or something similar.
You chances are much, much greater to have profits, maybe not as spectacular as lottery jackpots but way more sure. It is hard to dispute this simple fact as chances to win big are expressed in millions to one. Bitcoin wallet as a piggy-bank - good, old hodl Smiley
496  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will an increase in bitcoin price affect the gambling industry on: March 10, 2019, 05:26:50 PM
Yes it does and in fact I think gambling industry is effected by the cost of Bitcoin transactions.
For example, someone may be more inclined to send their BTC if the cost is 1 Satoshis/vbyte | 0.00001 BTC/KvB
However, if the price is high such as 50 Satoshis/vbyte | 0.00050 BTC/KvB, then people may not be in such a hurry to send their BTC to a Casino.
So probably along with price rise, lightning network will become much more popular among online casinos.
I'm not aware of any casino that makes LN compatibility as an advertising, promotional aspect and this will change soon.
Even with current exchange ratio, this could be a good idea, always better to optimize costs as much as possible.
Other than that, I don't think much will change in the industry, at least if it comes to bitcoin prices.
497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did you know? on: March 10, 2019, 11:19:36 AM
Wouldn't it be extreme naivety, to think there was no obvious bugs in the early days?
I for example wasn't aware of this particular error but in general I'm fully realising the fact of bugs existence.
That's why still some cautiousness is necessary, who knows what kind of surprises are hidden in the code?
After all it still 0.17... early beta?  Wink
498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Spirit of Bounty Hunting on: March 10, 2019, 10:55:59 AM
I'm sorry but this spirit of patience, you are talking about is a load of BS.
At least experience shows, that the best results and profits are in the moment of initial dump. New coins rarely go back to the price values they started with. Sooner people dump the better and everything else is just wishful thinking. Maybe a little sad and cruel but this the reality, dump your bounty while you still can otherwise be stuck with worthless crap-coins.
All the rest so called "spirits", seem quite OK to me.
499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This forum has so many gambling addicts on: March 09, 2019, 04:51:33 PM
Anyway, there will be many more difference. Point is gambling addict and drug addict is not the same in my eyes.
The real point is that OP has had asked rhetorical and manipulative question, about a thing that simply does not exist.
Sure, addiction is an addiction! No matter what is your poison, it has the potential for being mentally and physically harmful.
Case is as always, the dosage. As I see it, most of people here promote healthy and responsible gambling.
The amount of "risk that what you are ready to loose" sentences could easily fill a phonebook.
500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin = Nerd money or not? on: March 09, 2019, 02:33:21 PM
Bitcoin is nerd money 100%.Women don't understand it,old people and non-technical people don't understand it.We have to do something about this issue, like providing bitcoin eduaction for free or somehow simplifying all the terms regarding blockchain technology.
Generalisation is never a good thing. I'm more than sure there are many elderly folks that do understand crypto, so as girls.
Obviously those are in minority but is there really something wrong with this? I don't think so.
Gradual, non revolutionary adoption is the way to go. People have to get convinced to use nerdy money, not by techno-shock nor techno-terror but by observable reliability, solidness etc. As a to educational aspect you have mentioned, I fully agree.
