Hi,
Does anyone in the UK have a Moonlander2 for sale.

Loads on ebay cheap, but i need to buy with BTC.
Can offer 0.02BTC  (£50 for miner inc deliver) Currently on ebay for as little as £31 + £5 carriage

J

First please don't post stuff like this in a complete irrelevant thread. This is the general thread for the Apollo.

You can create your own WTB thread in marketplace, or post in the order related thread for the Moonlander 2: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2141261.360

Second if you want to pick one up for 50 Pounds and pay in crypto then just order off my website (shop.futurebit.io). It will cost 50 USD+ ~10 in shipping, which is less than 50UK

First, I dint know this was the wrong place to post such a request. If I had known I wouldn't have posted here. My mistake.
Second, we have already spoken about ordering from your website. I would love to but as I explained to you, UK customs and Excise is a nightmare for these kind of items at the moment. If they don't confiscate it, which they normally do, then it will probably sit there for at least 2 weeks, then they will require about £25 in tax if not more.
Shame the UK dealers didn't buy this product, would have made it so much easier.

Hi, thankyou for coming back to me.

Happy with solo mining, just don't understand what CRT files are and which ones to use.
I have 8 cores/16 threads, and 16/32GB ram (Depends which PC I can use)
Do I first have to make a CRT file, and then how do I use it.

Thanks
J

A step-by-step guide for CRT mining will be produced for the https://gapcoin.club website

However, assuming your using windows

First you have to get RPC enabled in the localhost Gapcoin wallet.

Stop Gapcoin and from the start prompt navigate to ...

%APPDATA%\Gapcoin\

and create gapcoin.conf or if the .conf already exists (edit) ...

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Gapcoin\gapcoin.conf

ensure the gapcoin.conf contains the following (save it and restart gapcoin) ...

listen=1
daemon=1
server=1
port=31469
rpcport=31397
rpcuser=gapcoinrpc
rpcpassword=yourrandomgapcoinrpcpassword

...

Now download and unzip ...

- https://gapcoin.network/downloads/gapminer-cpu-crt-rev5-windows.zip
- https://gapcoin.network/downloads/gapminer-cpu-crt-rev5.1-windows.zip

Navigate to C:\ and create a new folder 'gapminer'

From gapminer-cpu-crt-rev5-windows / windows / 64 - copy the crt folder (and contents) to C:\gapminer

From gapminer-cpu-crt-rev5.1-windows / windows / 64 - gapminer-cpu.exe to C:\gapminer

Second mouse button click on gapminer-cpu.exe to create a Shortcut to launch it from your desktop.

Now second mouse button click on the desktop Shortcut and add the command line arguments for the miners settings to Target: i.e.

C:\gapminer\gapminer-cpu.exe -o http:// 127.0.0.1 -p 31397 -u gapcoinrpc -x yourrandomgapcoinrpcpassword --shift 64 --crt crt/crt-22m-64s.txt --threads 14 --fermat-threads 13 --sieve-primes 50000

Click apply and save and then click on the shortcut to start the miner.

The shifts correspond with the CRT sets for the 22 MERIT range ... So, no need to play with anything really until the difficulty is back to 23 or above. I'm working on optimizing the higher sets.

Notes:
Gapcoin must be running on the localhost with the same rpcuser and password.
The crt sets must be in the corresponding and correct named folder.
-t or --threads is number or cores (threads) less 2 for best performance and fermat-thread is 'usually' optimal at one less than threads.

Do let me when you get it working. No real need to play around with optimizing anything until you get a feel for it.

...

Realizing that Jonnie Frey was a pianist can help us to understand his work.

Mining Gapcoin can be easy or if you prefer you can play like Tetris ...

Hi,

Thanks for the assist.
Tried the crt method for 24 hrs....no blocks
Tried gapminer 4.1 no params for 24hrs...no blocks
Tried wallet directly, 5 block in 24hrs, so no idea why the others are so crap, but the wallet works.
Only thing is, need 1000 coin, or 200 blocks a day, just to earn $1.
Seems pretty pointless mining. (unless someone comes up with a much better miner)
Better to buy and hodl

488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Home server for multiple coin staking on: January 31, 2019, 03:33:14 PM
Why would anyone buy a big ass noisy and powerhungry server with 48GB RAM for staking?

Even a very old beaten up laptop with like 2GB RAM can run a couple wallets. You could even get a laptop with a broken screen or something nobody wants, setup remote access with a monitor plugged in, put it in the basement somewhere and forget about it while remotely connecting to it. It even has a built in UPS so even with poor batteries it will handle short power outages. It's really simple, no need to overcomplicate it with servers.

Depends on the individual wallets, some are very resource hungry.
489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Home server for multiple coin staking on: January 31, 2019, 10:39:02 AM
Stop listening to every one else: go buy yourself

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-PowerEdge-R710-Virtualization-Server-8-Core-48GB-4x300GB-15K-1-2TB-PERC6i-/171307537270?hash=item27e2b99376:g:HfcAAOSwz71ZSpOj

it has 48GB RAM yes 48GB you can install windows 10 on it PRO buy a legit key for $15

you can run all the wallets/staking etc your heart desires...

good luck .

damn, sadly not shipping to Europe and looks like not similar alternative available now

Which country are you in?
490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Home server for multiple coin staking on: January 31, 2019, 08:22:44 AM
Hi Guys,

I have about 300 wallets permanently open (acting as a node) or staking.

Ryzen 1700 (8 core/16 thread - overclocking set to manual in BIOS  and set to clock speeds)
64gb ram (3200mhz, set to 2933mhz, due to M/B restriction, also max supported by M/B)
2 x 4TB NAS HDDs (mirrored), nearly full, so considering 2 x 6TB next.
Win7 pro (lots of older wallets don't work on Win 10)
Oh, and 1030GT GPU (about 10 watts each)

Runs ok, but you would be amazed how poor some wallets are, could do with at least another 64GB

2nd PC with same spec but 2 x SSDs, this one runs the real bad wallets (about 40), some seem to just trash the hdds all day, and perform sooo much better on the ssds.

Power consumption about 300-350watt across the 2 PC's

Hope this helps.

Any help appreciated

The built in wallet miner is 'optimal'.

However, you may have more 'luck' with the CRT miner ...

Are you familiar with setting up your Gapcoin config. to allow RPC localhost mining with the gapminer-cpu-crt-rev5.1 miner ?

- https://gapcoin.club/downloads/gapcoin.conf

...

On windows you start the miner from a shortcut after setting the Target information i.e.

solo mining
gapminer-cpu.exe -o 127.0.0.1 -p 31397 -u <rpc user> -x <rpc password> -t 4

For CRT mining check that the correct CRT file is in the named folder etc., before staring the miner.

The higher shifts will occupy a lot more RAM.

...

Let us know what your stuck with. Thanks!

Hi, thankyou for coming back to me.

hello, some miner for cpu for windows? Is there a mining pool? where can I download the windows wallet, thanks  Smiley

Really?

Have you looked at page 1,

There are links to the wallet
0.8.6 Wallet (Binary) Releases
for Windows, Mac and Linux
https://github.com/datacoinproject/datacoin/releases

the pools,
Mining Pools
NB:  You need one CPU thread for every GPU.
https://dtc.graymines.net
http://coinsforall.io/#!/coin/DTC
https://dtc2.graymines.net

mining guides, and everything you could need...
The pools even give you links to the best miner.

To cpu mine simply open the wallet, click on debug tab, and type "setgenerate true x" (where x is number of threads you want to use) type set, to stop all mining type "setgenerate false -1"

:: Mining with the Chinese Remainder Theorem

fig. 1

:: The ctr algorithm is divided into 2 parts. The first part,
:: is a simple greedy algorithm which ties to find offsets
:: for each involved prime, so that the desired number range
:: has at least prime candidates as possible.
::
:: The second part is an evolutionary algorithm, which tries to improve the
:: results form the greedy algorithm. Therefor the greedy algorithm
:: will be executed several times with slightly different parameters, to produce
:: ctrs which differs in quality, which than can be used by the evolutionary algorithm.
::
:: The output is a text file which can be used by gapminer as an input for ctr sieving.
::
:: Parameter description:
::
::
:: --calc-ctr          Indicates that we want to calculate a ctr file.
::
:: --ctr-strength      This is used to variate the computing time spend
::                     within the greedy algorithm. Higher strength
::                     can yield better results.
::
:: --ctr-primes        The number of primes to use in the ctr file. The more
::                     primes the better the ctr result, but the shift
::                     also increases. Minimum shift can be calculated as
::                     the binary logarithm of the product of all primes:
::                     log2(p1 * p2 * ... *pn).
::
:: --ctr-evolution     Whether to use the evolutionary algorithm or not.
::
:: --ctr-fixed         This number indicates the number of starting primes
::                     which wound get touched by the evolutionary algorithm
::                     the offsets for the primes 2,3,5,7,11... are mostly
::                     perfect computed by the greedy algorithm, and changing
::                     them only declines the result.
::
:: --ctr-ivs           The number of individuals used in the evolutionary algorithm.
::                     More increases computing time but mostly also the
::                     result quality.
::
:: --ctr-range         Percent deviation from the number of primes.
::                     Useful if you don't want to look for a specific number
::                     of primes.

::
:: --ctr-bits -256         The shift value you later use for sieving has to be greater
::                     than log2(p1*p2*..*pn). With this flag you can fine tune a specific
::                     shift by setting this to shift - log2(p1*p2*..*pn).
::
:: --ctr-merit         The target merit (while testing the ctr it seamed that
::                     sieving for target-merit - 1 yields the best results)
::
:: --ctr-file          The target ctr output file. You can open this with a
::                     text editor. Look for the n_candidates value, the smaller
::                     it is the better the ctr file.
::
::

More on this soon ...

Hi there,

Any chance someone could explain what the above means to a non mathematician Sad
Would just like to know how to mine this coin in the most effective way, please.
J

Don't know if this makes any sense but this is my miniginfo from my local wallet

i'm using 14 of 16 cores, and appear to have a hash of around 1283040 out of a nethash of 13700209 which I recon gives me about 1/12th of the nethash, yet I am only getting 4 blocks every 24 hours (on a good day)
Any help appreciated

i just stopped my burst mining rig at the beginning of this year. had around 40tb in it. the electricity was more than the earnings Sad
sad to see it end up like this, but i guess that's how it goes with all mining rigs one day sooner or later.

for now i am going to sell the hdd's now that they are still worth something.

of course i could hook them up at my normal desktop but i prefer to keep that one clean and close this mining chapter for now.

Hi, just wondering where you are in the world, i might be interested in those drives. I'm in the UK.

Hi,
Is there anyone selling 1 of these units new or 2nd hand in the UK? I would want to pay in BTC or other crypto currency.
Reasonable prices only please.

Thanks
J

There are some people scalping these, and people buying them for way over what my price is. Not sure why people are buying them at those prices, when we still have units left in our Batch 1 stock, and you can pay crypto on our site....

Yeah, its crazy...i think the biggest issue in the UK is the import duties, and customs seizing them, so i guess the guys in the UK think they can inflate the prices....
Still, i can wait, so will only pay less than from your site for 2nd hand.... (just looking at an L3 for only 160 GBP, or 230 GBP with bitmain psu)
Shame you dont have a UK distributor. I dont get why none of the UK groups didnt buy some...
Oh well, maybe i will drop lucky
J

I'm in the U.K. I ordered 2 of the preorder units, import tax was roughly £50 for the pair so its not too bad. delivery times are pretty damn quick too I'm tempted to get a couple more.

Hey Smiley Thanks for that. Thats good to know, not too bad at all...

proccessor is too weak, ram can probaby be sweapped out but an i3 or higer is best for rigs now due to algos like mtp

The processor does not matter as the GPUS are the main reason for this rig, you could probably still mine on the CPU, one extra hash is one extra hash, right?

It only has to do one job, is not a media centre or gaming PC... Nice looking unit anyway, looks well made too. Would be good if there were a choice of PSUs if you did not want to utilize or need all that power.

Complete rubbish !
Dependant on what coin you mine, the cpu and ram can have a massive effect on gpu performance. You must only mine a limit range of coins.
Several coins i mine require 4gb ram per 1080ti, and at least 1 dedicated thread per card, otherwise hash rate can half, or sometimes you cannot even utilise all cards.
I have been using a min of quad core (8 threads) and 8Gb ram in all my rigs for over a year now, and it makes a difference (to some coins)
