At least one mystery is solved and we know what happened to the 'bullet run' chips

They said will ship this week, do they really ship?

They are testing something now, check out the KNC Miner moving to third position today.  https://blockchain.info/pools?timespan=24hrs

5PH increase is like 1700 Neptunes

That public holiday couldn't have come at a better time for KNC.

Ship 1 solitary miner on the thursday (and not even to the earliest order) and then mine with everyone else's for next 3 days.

And yet with all the money that they are making, and the fact that not a single purchaser will get back the money they paid, they still felt the need to pull that shit with taking away the 2nd free machine.

Way to treat your loyal customers
503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 22, 2014, 12:16:17 AM
So I enabled the cloud hashing option on 2 CA batch Nepture orders that are already "In progress". I guess that was a retarded thing to do?

Yes it was, but you're not alone lots of us did, especially before they added the warining about what they are doing

Good news is they will reverse the decision if you email them.

He seems to log on at least every morning. No posts.
Has anyone heard from him privately?

It's been over a week, and it's now apparent that he has no intention of answering.

I've left negative trust in his feedback profile as it's the only thing I can do.

CriptX has confirmed that he provided insider information for big holders of his Peta securities so why did you trusted him in the first place?

It might be confirmed to you, but unforunately I don't have time to look at every post he has ever made all I could do was some basic research.

He had sold a few of these in the past and there was nothing negative posted in those threads (there is now but not at the time I bought)

I checked his feedback profile and whilst there are a couple of negative posts, they seemed to be old or complaints about no support for old hardware.

I'm not affected that badly, out of 3 machines I only have 1 non functioning blade now, allinvain in particular has come off a lot worse with multiple broken machines.  I'm a reasonable person if he'd at least answered me I'm sure we could have worked it out, but I suppose he figures if he deals with me he'll have to deal with everyone else.

Just so it's clear - the black components you very clearly see here:

<snip>

EQUALS

The numbers you see next to the words "Temp":

<snip>

These components are about 2 to 3 inches away from the chip and the temperature reading is 58C  Shocked

Can you even imagine how hot that chip is in it's core?

That far away from the chip, the readings are almost useless.

But as I said, it was done by design. KNC hiding their shitty engineering.

I think you are only partly right.

In the jupiters the temperatures listed in that screenshot are the VRM temps, note that there are 8 seperate and different readings.

The temperatures listed in this screen are the ones from the sensor nowhere near the chip

Are there issues at the data centre, all of mine are running really slow like 450GH 80GH slow Sad

Yes. We're checking it now.
We'll compensate for the the down time.

Thanks, excellent as always Smiley

No space for overclocking.

I expect these are first customer appreciation batch boards and designed with that purpose in mind.

I'm sure the ones heading to boden will be a much better design Tongue

Ive been F5-ing for 3 days straight.  Not really, but thats what it feels like!

I don't know what browser you use, but this is for chrome, I'm sure others browsers have similar plugins.  Just tell it to monitor a page and it will alert you when it changes, no F5 required Smiley

No coincidence (my order number is 1110x, so happened to be the very first.... And I guess I have one of the very first Titans as well, so stay tuned... just acting very fast when something new is released, and living in the same time zone as Sweden).

There are probably around 20 orders before you (1108x is the lowest), there are 2 users that I know for sure with lower ones, neither have reported any news so it's a bit strange but congrats on getting the first one and for updating everyone Smiley
512  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Hacking The KNC Firmware: Overclocking on: June 20, 2014, 06:01:45 PM
another download link to the exact same custom firmware as page 50 http://www.megafileupload.com/en/file/543339/kncminer-1-01-custom-bin.html

Nove Jupiter here. Just applied the custom fw and my chips are running at 900MHz. Can I overclock it from the Advanced tab without logging to ssh?

Yes that's the beauty of the custom fw, switching between advanced and the bertmod output allows you to quickly get it running nicely.
513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 20, 2014, 02:08:04 PM
The one downside of canceling my Neptune is I do not have a resource to hack on and make a firmware like I did (currently 1.01.1-padrino) for the current systems.. Running November boards at 250Gh/s (250W)  with about 1.5Th/s at the pool for a 6 prot, wonder how far the Neptune ASIC can be pushed..

It's a shame but given how hard the single PCI-E connectors are being pushed already I don't think there will be much room for overclocking.
514  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The last Batch of AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner, $1850 per unit, Shipping on June 26th on: June 19, 2014, 09:35:59 PM
Bitmain have never said that it will be possible to upgrade the S1 so not sure why so many people think it will be.

Actually......

Reserved for Q&A

1. Will there be upgrade parts for S1 and S2?

Yes, there will be. But we still need to solve some production/testing problem before we finalize the plan and public it.

I stand corrected, had never seen them mention it only the S2
515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 19, 2014, 09:33:38 PM

There is some very compelling evidence that supports this hypothesis. But the most glaringly obvious is the single PCI power connector. They're not so stupid to design it to handle 420w. But they were compelled to squeeze as much hash out of each chip that they threw away common sense.

With regards to the single PCIe connector and 425W... Understandably, this is WAY over the 150W limit and they WILL be liable if there will be fires because KnC deliberately made this a single connector. Perhaps, they are scrambling now to get a second one in....hence the hash while you wait.

From a practical point of view (try it on your own risk-this is NOT a rec)-many people had run antminer S1 dual blade on Corsair CX500M. This PSU has a single PCIe cable with a split (each half of the split feeds 180-200W blade). When I used it on one of my overclocked S1 (rated at ~400W), the cables were quite worm, but it still run OK, however the machine would not tolerate overclocking further (to 422-435W), so this was probably the culprit. The conclusion: there might be difficulties in running a single PCIe connector at 425W, but up to 400W worked (at least for a short time-I since switched to a different PSU)

I spoke with one of their engineers on IRC about this.

The information he provided was that the 150w listed in the specs for PCI-E isn't a limit it's the minimum requirement for it to be PCI-E compatible, and that that good quality PSU's can handle it fine.

I'm going the Dual EVGA 1300W route as I have them handy, early order so will report back how it goes.

what are the s1 upgrade specs/price?

Bitmain have never said that it will be possible to upgrade the S1 so not sure why so many people think it will be.

It's still unknown what the upgrade path will be for S2's but it's likely to be just replacement blades, and it remains to be seen how good a deal it will be.

You won't be able to swap 10 blades with the ones from the S3 as the power consumption will be too high, so it's either going to be different blades with underclocked chips or fewer blades say 4 to match the 1000w PSU.

It seems like I got off quite lightly compared to you. Sad

518  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: June 17, 2014, 09:42:40 PM
The DC requires 6 month minimum and $100 setup fee.

We'll charge in advance:

Bulk shipping cost ~$100 - we'll figure out the exact cost later
$100 - Setup fee
5 X $290 - $310 - 5 months of hosting, depending on the selected power mode

No remote access, we'll set pool configuration. Changing will be done by emails.

Thanks for the update, shame about the remote access, will have to do some more pondering Tongue

And an official update...

https://www.kncminer.com/news/news-94

Neptune In Assembly.

We’re pleased to announce touch-down of the first batch of our new 20 nanometer Neptune processors. They are now going through the testing/tweaking/assembly stage in Sweden and shipping will commence this week.

A World First 20-Nanometer Design
The Neptune is a formidable technological achievement. It is the first commercially available 20 nanometer processor shipped to end users. KnCMiner can take pride in beating all competitors to the 20nm stage, including the likes of Intel, Apple and Samsung.

The Neptune is a 1440-core 55x55 mm package tailor-made for the Bitcoin market. Each Neptune consists of 5 chips and comes in new sturdier enclosure and packacing. Using the speed offered by a true 20nm die process each Neptune churns out more than 3 TH/s while consuming only 2.1 KW at the wall. That works out to 0,7 watts per GH/s or less.

However, there are margins built into our design and the software running our chips can only improve from today on. All future software updates to raise the hashing speed will be free of charge.

Software Updates
We've reached our initial targets on speed and power consumption. But as this is the first day we’ve had the Neptune in our lab our technicians have already implemented a few tricks to increase hashing speed and we’ll release updates to our firmware shortly.

The first two batches of the Neptune miner is all sold-out. Batch three is available for pre-order now in our web shop. Watch this space for more info on upcoming products based on our new state-of-the-art 20nm design process.

We expect to ship to Batch 1 pre-order customers this week and to Batch 2 pre-order customers before the end of the month.
