Out of interest does anyone else have a die that only half works like this....
...

Yes, most likley its your PCI-E Y plug or the PCI-E port on the cube. Try to remove and reseat the pci-e connector. Look to see if its brown or burned. Im working on a pci-e connector with thicker gauge wire that uses 3 female plugs to 1 male plug. Im hoping to ease the load on the wires. Ill should be selling these in about 2-3 weeks. Need to test first.

I don't think that's it as I use the Shakmods cables and it's been plugged and unplugged a few times as I've moved it around my server room and I always double check given the silly level of current going through them, but will definately look again the next time i'm there, thanks Smiley

204  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: warrning bitmain site scam on: August 07, 2015, 08:26:31 PM
Definately a scam, it's a copy of bitmains site, all the links point to the real site apart from the fake voucher pages.

Very naughty  Angry  but they also aren't very bright, I'll not explain why don't want to help the scumbags.

I'll point bitmain to it, not sure if/what they can do

You know whats worrying about this? People have actually paid for this scam. https://www.coinpayments.net/feedback-f7b379d69934abd94036f0596913d417

Which is exactly why I advocated that no one create empty threads until - if ever - they arrived.

Yea its pretty sad that all these high post count "reviewers" (aka people just trying to get free hardware), fall for these scams and promote them on these forums which causes people that don't know better to put money in these scams.

Stop promoting shit in hopes that you'll get free stuff, your screwing other people over.

It also does not help people sell there high rank accounts, making the scam fool people when stuff is posted.

Here's a golden rule, if you are ever considering purchasing something wait a few days.  There are lots of good members on this forum who invesigate stuff like this and before a thread is 2 pages long there will usually be more information available.

Above all, if it seems to good to be true, it is Smiley

What happens is when bfgminer starts, it says the die is configured successfully, 0 shows around 4 amps and 1 shows around 42 amps.  There are no error messages regarding this die but after about 5 minutes it reports that it is configured successfully again, and the amps go to what is in the screenshot.

It's been like this since I got it, have tried voltage and speed tweaks so don't think there is any hope for it, was just curious.

What the hell does this have to do with anything here, idiot!

Scammer number 2 is muscling in on scammer number 1's thread, no manners at all !!!

PS Thomas Duborg, if you really believe that the ROI on your investment is 35 days might I suggest some remedial maths lessons or buy a better calculator (I know it's a made up testimonial btw)

208  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it worth it ? on: August 07, 2015, 02:33:37 PM
Ah right ok I get you ...

I will wait around and see when and if the S7 gets released and possibly go for one of them unless I pick up an S5 dirt cheap ...

Yeh the electric cost is the worse .. but I think i am on a pretty good rate within the UK ... I cannot seem to find anything under 0.10 per kWh

The PSU I have at present is a Corsair CX 750

Cheers.

Mining for profit is pretty much dead in the UK unless you aren't paying for electric.

On top of the expensive electric you'll get hit with 20% import duty which makes any chance of ROI remote

If you do intend to buy an S7 or something else, unless there is a good reason to bring it to the UK you might want to consider shipping it direct to a hosting company, there are many in the USA for example where there is no import duty so that's a big saving already, they have much cheaper electric so even once you factor in their hosting costs it's still cheaper than running it here.

List of hosting providers... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=622998.0

I've also bought numerous machines from pcfli in china where they are hosted at very good rates (my old dragons are still profitable with him 12 months after I sold my UK ones) I'm sure he'll announce when something new is arriving in his currrent S5 thread... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=934581.0
209  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNCMiner Jupiter Support Files on: August 07, 2015, 07:54:48 AM
I still have a copy of kncminer-1.01.custom.bin which is padrino's custom firmware that incorporates bertmod and adds all the overclocking features.

http://ul.to/u7puc100

Here is the enablecores.bin

http://ul.to/hp7191w6

And found another file, not sure what it does but think it's a knc one as it has their logo as an icon diag-1.0.bin

Sorry if I'm being stupid, never bought online I usually have enough foreign business trips each year to keep stocked up but not been away for a while and currently out Sad

I read in another thread from a different vendor that if customs sieze the order and demand duties then you 'can' just refuse to pay them and they ship them back to the sender and then they are reshipped for another try, is that what you mean (my refuse delivery comment may have confused things)

Anyway thanks for considering adding menthols in the future Smiley
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 06, 2015, 03:52:55 PM
I will continue to experiment w/ die drop handling. I read another way that may be more effecient. I will update if thats possible.

What I've noticed with a couple of my temperamental dies, is that it will spit out errors about invalid nonce, then it will give a message saying the die was successfully configured and it will go back to work as normal.

So that appears to be cycling an individual die, if you want me to grab the exact messages to track down where in the code it's doing it let me know and i'll grab a screenshot next time I see it.
212  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: August 06, 2015, 03:46:29 PM
First report of actual units in the wild, but don't get excited it's not good news

5 units sfards miner already arrive in our farm, but the quality is not as good as they promise, only 1 of them run at 1.5T/48M, all other four canot farm at promised hashrate, 2 of them canot run at all, ask other friend got similar report.  already ask sfards technician to provide help, but i think it is better to wait until the quality become more stable, it will be a nightmare for our employee if a large batch of miner canot run stable

Would be cool if you could, at least try and locate them in the building would be a start. Crazyearner got met with blank looks when he went there, but it would be nice to have confirmation.
Bizarrely, I was in that street working about five years ago, but now am 100's of miles away unfortunately.

Yeah the sig, you're welcome to share, but it's the worst paying campaign on the forum. Smiley
Theymos should be receiving court papers about it soon I should think, seeing as CloudThink reckon they have copywritten everything.
 Roll Eyes

I seem to remember reading that a couple of people had tried and they just aren't there, if I'm in the area will pop in for sure but not making a special trip.

The fact they have stopped deleting posts in this thread shows that they have given up on this for the moment.

I doubt you are losing any sleep over the threat of impending lawsuits Tongue
214  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CloudThink.IO NEW 8TH/s Imperator Bitcoin Miner - Apply for a FREE test unit on: August 06, 2015, 09:48:53 AM
I think most of the accounts who keep saying "put my name down for one of those miners" are shill accounts.

Possibly, but the ones I've looked at tend to be mainly old miners genuinely interested but cynical, or faucet lickers like the one above who apply for anything.

I did have a post up offering to go to Manchester and look at them and take one away to test as I am only 30 minutes away, I didn't even want to keep it as it would use more electric than it will generate but figured it would answer if they exist or not.

However after some more reading of other threads, obvious scam was obvious and not worth my time so I deleted it.

PS tmfp, love the sig Smiley

I had a feeling it was going to be GAW given your sig Smiley

I've had nothing to do with them, never smelt right to me, but I did jump on the paycoin launch and mined the crap out of it and sold it all for a very nice week of profits, it was never going to be worth the $20 they promised, seem to think I sold most around $8 but no idea which exchange I used so can't check....

Found a post of mine from CoinDesk just after the launch

.... Cryptsy $0.03 wow, such fail

Being in Europe is a big plus, but I too only smoke menthols, if you decide to stock them please find some 100's or superkings, those diddy king size ones go to quick and Marlboro are the only cigs I can't stand Smiley

Also can you clarify what you mean by the second option slightly confused

- Pay the tax and receive it (Yes, Simple)
- I can refund 50% after you finalize your order ( ? ? ? )
- I can resend it for free (Yes, I refuse delivery and it gets sent back, you reship)

Let me present you what has become the gold standard of mining picture proof... picture mining proof... picture-proof mining... smth like that.

... and that one turned out to be as fake as it gets. So pictures == useless.

I remember that picture at the time, the fact that there were no wires to be seen was rather suspicious, but I don't remember how it turned out. Was it just a photoshop ?
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 05, 2015, 08:38:57 PM
So I have several sets of Titan Batch 2 cubes I got in june 2015, and they were brand new sealed in the box. 13 cubes have failed in different ways. Ive owned a few computer repairs shops over 20 years , so I have a ton of experience with thermal issues. So far I have 2 cubes with burned PCI-E connectors that I was able to restore and one cube that has 2 dies that read .8v (idle) that I tried the fix KNCminer kept saying would work, and that was to remove the single screw nearest the exhaust and remove the standoff too, and put a screw through a nut that is underneath the cube. The goal was to tighten the pressure on the heatsink. I had 8 cubes that had this issue and it did not work. All it did was start to bend the board in the middle. Ive applied my own fix after listening to KNCminer for over 45 days, and MY fix worked on the first cube I tried. So KNCminer now claim my warranty is void and refuse to help me. I will eventually repair all of these, and then file my class action suit to the tune of $70,000. Guys if you own ANY kncminer product, the deadline to file a lawsuit for the FULL amount YOU paid for them is August 20th 2015. I will be emailing everyone on this thread and letting them know. Im also optimizing my website for many keywords for google so others can see who KNCminer really are. My website bitcoinlasvegas.net is very high ranking on google as I get about 5000 visitors a week. Im already on page one for the search term "Kncminer Batch 2" , so Ill be posting most of the horror stories there. http://bitcoinlasvegas.net/kncminer-titan-batch-2-up-and-running/

Vegas

Awesome! What was the fix? I'd like to give it a shot!

Yes, please share your fix, I'm running a right bodge of a machine with 6 cubes (was a compromise to get my RMA handled quickly)

6 completely dead dies that never work, and 4 that sometimes decide to work if underclocked and overvolted.
219  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [lee group]419$ the sales promotion of hosted antminer S5(golden psu included) on: August 05, 2015, 08:37:33 PM
Still waiting on SFards news...

In the meantime, anyone selling at this point?

Given the ridiculous price of them and the lack of any in the wild despite being in 'mass production' for over 5 months now I've given up caring about them.  My gut tells me their whole thread was just about raising money from big investors.

I'm curious if lee has heard any news from LKTec about their upcoming machines, I know he purchased a lot of the dragons and they were well designed and ran really well so think they might be a better bet if he knows any sort of timetable on them.
220  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Hacking The KNC Firmware: Overclocking on: August 05, 2015, 08:35:45 PM
Basically I had the October Jupiter for a while and basically overclocking is a horrible idea because it has very bad cooling. The cooling is good in an air conditioned room at stock speeds, but if you keep overclocking it, the temps keeps rising and rising.

The October one's were slower to begin with so the margin to overclock was less but I still got decent results with mine, I just added some cheap ram heat sinks to the VRM's and pointed a big fan at them, the november ones were much better though.  Padrino's excellent firmware is very useful for tweaking them too.
