Nice to see it's a lot cheaper than the $3000 that was previously mentioned, updated spreadsheet
I think somebody inquired last time whether that takes into account the pending reward halving, and I believe you mentioned that you assumed a constant difficulty.  Could you clarify the parameters you're using just for this thread Smiley

Sorry, yes assumes static BTC/USD and difficulty, no-one knows on the former or the latter just gives a quick baseline to work from according to your own thinking and risk

EDIT: The reward drop isn't for nearly a year so didn't see the point including that, some people will have import duty on top and maybe PSU's as well.

184  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNCMiner Jupiter Support Files on: August 14, 2015, 10:19:01 AM
It may sound obvious but have you tried emailing support@kncminer.com for that enablecores.bin file

If memory serves me correctly, the VRM's are numbered clockwise starting with the left one where the power connects, finishing with the one on the right where the power connects.  I can't remember the firmware for the jupiter it was ages ago, but if it has the option to turn a die off then you could try that then feel the temperature on the VRM's to see the 'cold' one.
185  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BitClub Network: MLM promises, false testimonials and PoS coin - AVOID on: August 13, 2015, 07:06:11 PM
Looks like you found a good cause to replace your now defunct cloudminr sig Smiley

There are so many things that can be said about this, sadly most of them will just give the obviously stupid scammers tips for the next scheme, so I'll have to consider what to post.

The clubcoin is right out of the fibonnaci (sp?) and gaw playbooks, not only will they take your bitcoins you'll also end up being bagholders for their shitcoin.

The only thing that is 1000 about this is the chance of it being legit, 1000-1
186  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: I am judging interest in a group buy of the Avalon mini on: August 13, 2015, 10:06:30 AM
The price for each unit itself (without shipping and any other expenses) will be about $240 USD. My answer to such an inconceivable price:

That's hardly a suprise, every avalon retail product (since the first) has been months behind the competition in terms of effeciency, and priced way above what anyone else is charging.

Apart from an odd machine for those that like to have a new toy, I expect the only real sales they have are from volume buyers in china who must get a better deal.
187  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Miner hosting. on: August 12, 2015, 08:50:13 PM
Well I may want to send my miners off to hosting in the future have 2 S4' s one Neptune, getting one more Neptune, and some cubes in the future. Its not much but I think it may be a bit bigger in the future. Also just wanted to know what prices were for kw/h and handling fees ect. on hosting sites.

This thread has lots of hosts, prices and feedback

188  Other / Meta / Re: End of newbie restrictions; ban changes on: August 11, 2015, 08:21:22 PM
Really miss the stained ignore buttons.
IMO, there was no reason to remove that feature. Wish it was brought back.

What does that button do exactly? Haven't been around in this forum when that feature was still implemented, I think. Is it totally different from the ignore button that we have right now?

It looked the same, but the background colour changed depending on how many people had that person on ignore. Started as white, then went through yellow through to orange. The darker it was, the greater the number of ignores (don't know what the numbers were)

What can i do to reduce a little bit my dc/dc temp Smiley
In the room is hot like in hell. I don't have enought electricity to put air conditioning.

Wow those are seriously hot, I fear for how long the machine can keep that up.

You could underclock them, that would reduce the temps a bit but I suppose some sort of ventilation even if not air con would help, you can get big 20" fans fairly cheap.

Must be a small room or lots of other miners, mine is just sat in a room with the air con and fans all off at the moment and is nowhere near those temps

and is there a way to solo mine LTC? How to run bfgminer with getblocktemplate instead of getwork?

You can set your own mining pool up, with MPOS or similar but the easiest way is to use the nicehash solo mining pool

191  Other / Meta / Re: Possible Solution To Current Malware Spam ? on: August 10, 2015, 03:35:27 PM
The numbers can be tweaked for sure but if a mod has to intervene and delete x consecutive posts then the user is obviously doing something wrong, we aren't talking permanent ban only a temp one.
192  Other / Meta / Possible Solution To Current Malware Spam ? on: August 10, 2015, 03:28:56 PM
I notice in the modlog that a huge amount of the recent ones have been user 344575, as he lures a victim in another account becomes compromised and a new wave starts

Would a solution not be to automate the temp banning for a day or two of users when over x amount of their recent posts have been deleted over y time, this would stop the constant stream of them and take the workload off the mods, the temp ban can then be assessed by the admins ?

As of now there are 76 deletions on this account, that's maybe 73 that didn't need to be done if using 3 deletions in a row, or 3 in 24 hours as examples.

The 277 is just maths, I suspect the site you saw it on was using an old cost, difficulty or BTC/USD Rate.

Where's a catch, though. After The 277 days you can sell your position AMD get back your principal.

This means a return of 100% in 277 days. Not only a breakeven.

Also, this doesn't take into account accelerated returns if you reinvest everyday

This is getting more into mining speculation but...

That presupposes several things.

1. That difficulty stays constant, if it rises that timescale increases
2. That the contract is still active, remember a fall in BTC price or an increase in difficulty could mean that it's cancelled before the term is up.
3. That the contract is worth what you paid for it in 9 months time which is highly doubtful.

Everyone has different opinions which is why hashnest has sold tons of mining hashrate, for me personally the reward is too low for the risk.

Is this a good and profitable cloudmining site to invest in?

It's good because Bitmain are a reputable manufacturer and have actual hardware.

Profitable, well I'd say no but others may disagree

$3061.04 usd is what i got for a price yuan to usd for those too lazy to do this. Probably shipping is extra

man it is a beast that is for sure ...not recommended for home use indeed Indeed! Smiley

on tradeblock with my 13c kwh elec ..assuming I won the lottery and got one as a NO ROI toy I get this again from www.tradeblock.com page

7722gh

3436 watts

add your guess and shipping on the above calculator....but at 13c kwh for me at current btc price it is pretty dang ugly to say the least

oh well a good asic porn pic Smiley

Given a shipping cost of $90, and NO increase in difficulty, a handy table to see how ugly Smiley

197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 09, 2015, 02:59:46 PM
But wouldn´t they be interested in developing firmware for the farm they own? Or the have probably already done it and don't want to share it with us costumer, because then we would add extra speed to the network?

I don't actually think KNC have a scrypt farm, the increase in hashrate when batch 1 was released was on a par with the number of machines sold.

They probably intended too, but the yield on the first batch of chips was so bad that they didn't have enough left over, and when the second batch was due to ship they had to start refunding people as they still didn't have enough chips to fulfill existing orders.

I suppose they could have ordered a 3rd batch, but the network hashrate has not reflected any large changes so it's not something that has happened yet and with the imminent block halving on LTC would be a brave move.

this is a dumb question..i know zip about such things..but can you put some kinda heatsink (assuming you can find some that fit) on the vrms...or is that just silly? (likely) Smiley

The problem is getting an exact fit between the heatsink and the vrms, then you risk crushing the vrms as they are ceramic. With that soft thermal pad, its gentle, and when you tighten the heatsink its soft and spongy.

If you are having problems with VRM temps I used these on my Jupiters when they were overclocked and they are a perfect fit (and cheap), haven't needed them on the neptune or titan myself.

199  Other / Meta / Similar Usernames Attempting To Scam - Defaults Please Tag on: August 08, 2015, 07:06:10 PM
Not a request to do something about it at an admin level, I appreciate it's a losing battle, more an idea for a helpful thread to report them so people on default trust can watch the thread and tag them.

If they post in a thread then the option is there to report to a moderator which I would do, same with PM's but often I see a post where a user says they have received one, they may or may not have reported it so as a just in case.  I could leave trust but given the forums default being to hide untrusted feedback there's not much point.

Have these tables been updated lately and/or will be updated in the near future with new "companies" ?

I don't think so, I'm sure puppet said previously that he didn't intend for it to be an ongoing list (partially because there are so many springing up it would be a full time job)

The first post serves as a template to evaluate any new ones that turn up so it's still useful.

There are so few genuine ones that it's safe to assume anything new is a scam, the couple that are reputable will just lose you money as they are too expensive.
