OP

Read the pirateat40 / Trendon Shavers thread.

That guy stole over $5M USD (at the time) from a LOT of people.

Everyone know EVERYTHING about him but no one when after him.

He's still living (probably very comfortably off the rising bitcoin price) in McKinney Texas.

What?  *pounds fist*  I'm on it.

I'll need some gas money though.  I'm about an hour away Tongue

I'll give you 50% of ~2500 BTC if you get him and the 2500 BTC together with him Tongue
503  Other / Meta / Re: Can we delete our accounts? on: July 19, 2013, 06:11:51 PM
Account hacked. window was open on my computer so i can still access.... need HELP from an admin and don't know how... please pass along...thanks

Help him - for God's sake someone help him.
Before someone else posts something irrelevant using his hacked account (that he still has access to).

I still have access but cannot change my password back because i dont know what the hacker changed it to. I normally have the slogan for my website under my avatar, not the stupid password dots.

Use the password recovery form from another browser and a link to set a new password will be sent to your email. WTF, no need for an admin. Huh

Also, stop spamming every thread with your problem. Nobody cares. And you already have one thread about it. Now you're just spamming and being annoying.
504  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help: recover privkey after exporting from Qt? on: July 18, 2013, 09:20:21 PM
If this definitely doesn't work you could try pywallet

how would i do that?  never used it before.
On Linux it's really easy, it's a bit more complicated on Windows but still fairly simple.
Take a look at pywallet.tk and tell me if something seems strange/difficult.

can i simply move a copy of the wallet.dat over to a linux computer and then use pywallet to extract private keys?

Yes.
505  Other / Off-topic / Re: S.DICE sold to MtGox on: July 18, 2013, 09:16:28 PM
Shit, I thought you were not joking   Tongue

So did I, even moved it to Press and changed the date format so kiba wouldn't have a stroke. Even almost posted a sarcastic/trollish reply about it literally being a gamble to get your money out of gox now.

Got me good  Grin.

So, you moved it to Press after I moved it to Off-Topic? Grin
It was originally on Service Discussion.
506  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help: recover privkey after exporting from Qt? on: July 18, 2013, 08:46:36 AM
sorry, already tried that:  Private key for address * not known (code -4)

Are you sure you're trying the correct pubkey? Is the address you're trying to get the privkey from really yours? Didn't you grab it from the Address Book instead of from the Receive tab or something?

507  Other / Off-topic / Re: Should I 'ignore' MPOE-PR? on: July 17, 2013, 11:13:29 PM
Ignorance is (not) bliss.
Wrong.

Code:
MPOE-PR

Unignore

Makes me happy.

Seeing that avatar I would say it makes you grumpy Roll Eyes
508  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help: recover privkey after exporting from Qt? on: July 17, 2013, 11:03:22 PM
Everything should be there.

To export a private key from your Satoshi bitcoin-qt client:

1- launch your bitcoin client as usual and wait for it to load the blockchain and start up
2- click on 'help' in the menu bar (top right)
    3- click on 'debug window'
    4- select the 'console' tab
5- type: walletpassphrase "your walletpassphrase here" 600
6- type: dumpprivkey [your public key here]
7- this will return the private key, you can copy it now; ensure you clear your clipboard/history afterwards
    8- type: walletlock

Skip steps 5 and 8 in case your wallet is not encrypted.

509  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help: recover privkey after exporting from Qt? on: July 17, 2013, 10:39:24 PM
is this possible after exporting from Bitcoin-qt?

what do you mean exactly?
dumpprivkey only tells you the private key, doesn't delete it from your wallet, AFAIK.
510  Economy / Auctions / Re: E-mail addresses of all world media on: July 17, 2013, 10:15:07 PM
€ 750

Can't promise I'll get you ALL press contacts, but would appreciate a list of countries to make the job easier
511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any Centos experts out there that can make this work? on: July 17, 2013, 06:25:58 PM
*AHEM*

Trying to follow this.

Why are you using APT on CentOS? Shouldn't you be using YUM?

The apt command is a copy/paste from the Bitcoin readme or install file
512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any Centos experts out there that can make this work? on: July 17, 2013, 06:24:21 PM
The libraries packages have different names on CentOs - Google is your friend
Try this:
Code:
yum install libdb-devel libboost-devel openssl-devel
513  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thieves, Govts and Mistakes on: July 17, 2013, 05:51:25 PM
About Bitcoin-24: I had 20 BTC in there when it went down. Got them when they opened to allow withdrawals, a couple weeks after. I hope you get your BTC back!
I am curious, did you have any euros in your account as well?  Because if you did, that supports my conspiracy theory that they took care of (only) clients that had the right to go to official legal channels.

Nope, no Euros whatsoever. Only had 21 BTC in there if I'm not mistaken. Only unsure about how many BTC. That I had zero Euros I'm positive Wink
514  Other / Meta / Re: Temporary Ban for Press Guideline Violators on: July 17, 2013, 04:19:39 PM
The site owner and mod team essentially told me that keeping the particular subsection clean is not a priority or is important to them. They won't help me reduce the number of irregularity events caused by people who don't read the guideline, don't read their own thread, and don't read private messages.

Wait, what? (the bolded part)
Can't talk for others, but whenever I see some problem in the Press forum I try to fix it.
In the last days I deleted/trashed lot's of spam there, sent PM's with warnings to 2 of the worst offenders and requested a ban for 1 user. And you say people won't help you? Undecided

You won't get people to follow your guidelines with punitive action for minor infractions.
This will only lead to being seen as dictatorial, which people don't deal too well with, especially here.

Instead lead as good example, correct the false formatting and explain to users the benefit of following the guideline. This will in time lead to broader adoption of the guideline. Note I'm talking weeks here not days. People adapt slowly.

I should offer courses on this for dirty fiat money.

This^^ 10000x
515  Other / Meta / Re: Temporary Ban for Press Guideline Violators on: July 17, 2013, 03:15:36 PM
Ain't fixing people's shit at the press forum anymore, either as a mod or a regular user.

Could you even fix it without being a Moderator? Huh

If the Moderator title was only intended for people to take you seriously when you scold them about the bad date format, you're doing it wrong... But that's just my opinion.
516  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitmit is Closing?? on: July 17, 2013, 10:51:39 AM
Topic locked because this matter is already resolved.
New concerns about bitmit closing should go in a new thread. Thank you!
517  Other / Meta / Re: Temporary Ban for Press Guideline Violators on: July 17, 2013, 07:50:04 AM
Kiba, moderating is more than scolding users for not following rules. You should fix what's wrong AND scold them, if that's your thing.
Also, please look further than the title formating, because the users cryptocoinnews and bitstop only post links to their blogs. cryptocoinnews likes to post FUD, bitstop only posts 2nd-hand articles, as in copies them from other sites.
518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Just-Dice.com : Invest in 1% House Edge Dice Game on: July 16, 2013, 07:26:01 PM
Withdrawal requests should be final, even if they go to pending. If you allow them to cancel the requests then you still have the same problem.

The solution is to warn the user before they finalize their withdrawal that they will not be paid by the hotwallet.

Hmm I think for gambling site this is bad idea. There is just a lot of value lost when player just cancel withdrawal while waiting for it and gamble more.

And there is even more potential value to lose if he can cancel a Pending withdrawal that was already processed and gamble it away. You can't have your cake and eat it too, you know?
519  Other / Off-topic / Re: Banned from #bitcoin-otc for nothing! on: July 16, 2013, 07:24:16 PM
I was banned for buying coins with paypal. I have been banned for 6 months apparently there is no time limit. Anyone know how I can get unbanned?

How did you find a thread this old?

2 months is "old"? How old are you? 6? Huh
