521  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: International Champions Cup on: July 29, 2018, 06:07:55 PM
The average odds for Both teams to score market (BTTS) tend to be in the range of 1.50 - 1.60 and I have been getting around 1.55 odds pretty consistently so for a 7-match accumulator bet that would yield approx. 23 odds. You can price boost your odds on Sportsbet by the way and squeeze a little bit more profit. But I have to admit betting on goals has been pretty profitable in the International Champions Cup so far.
522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SHOULD WE GET ALL HATERS OF BITCOIN OUT OF HERE? on: July 29, 2018, 07:56:14 AM
I don't think anyone takes these mega-threads seriously. Censorship is not a good idea to fight back. If people stop posting there those threads will disappear into oblivion. It's mostly newbies who bring them back to life as it's so easy to repeat what someone else has said and pad the post count.
Let's not forget we are posting on a public Internet forum and sometimes our opinions can differ. That's completely normal and we have to learn to agree to disagree  Grin
523  Economy / Economics / Re: To Cash Out or HOW to Cash Out? on: July 29, 2018, 06:58:23 AM
I think historical market data has shown that the period January - February - March is when the price of Bitcoin goes down so if there is really a bull run happening this fall I would be prepared to sell before April for sure. The repeating cycle makes for an increase in prices in fall-winter season and a decrease in spring-summer season. Some people have said you should hodl everything until next Bitcoin halving. Seems like a good advice to me personally. As for the withdrawal method, well, I would go with Coinbase, because it's just so much more convenient to deposit, exchange and withdraw funds to your bank account in a couple of minutes without leaving the house. If you want to do a peer-to-peer exchange through LocalBitcoins you need to meet with strangers in public places which is risky as you could be robbed or attacked or followed back home etc.
524  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: International Champions Cup on: July 29, 2018, 06:30:46 AM
Yay guys 6 winning bets down and one more to go tomorrow  Grin I am wondering whether or not I should hedge the last bet though. Gosh, betting on goals is so much fun haha. We will have a short break on Tuesday and on Wednesday there are 5 games. Looking forward to doing the same parlay again.
525  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: July 28, 2018, 04:31:57 PM
I think VAR helps football more than it hurts. During the World Cup some of the referees refused to consult themselves with their colleagues in the VAR room and made wrong calls like that referee in the Switzerland - Serbia match who didn't award a penalty to the Serbian team. If I remember correctly the referee straight up declined to review the situation and was sanctioned by FIFA later. If the main referee is biased VAR should overrule the wrong decisions and help balance the match. When there is video evidence match fixing will be minimized or completely stopped as referees will think twice before making bad calls.
526  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: July 28, 2018, 11:17:44 AM
There is no VAR in qualification games I suppose will be no VAR in all UEFA games
VAR will be in all major and small leagues only UEFA will stay like a green island
Shame

I don't think there will be VAR in the CL or any of the pro leagues.  It's FIFA that experimented VAR for this World Cup, which really had negative feedback mostly.  I hope they scrap it.  It's bad for the game.  Football is not basketball.  VAR is taking away the human factor in the game which makes it more exciting.

I think VAR has been used in the MLS (Major League Soccer) last season prior to the World Cup and I think it got a positive feedback in the USA. I don't watch MLS football so I am not in the loop much, but I have heard the World Cup commentators saying that it has been a success
and that's why they included VAR for the World Cup. My guess is VAR will be coming to more elite leagues later on.
By the way I just googled whether or not VAR will be used in the Premier League and apparently they have voted no so no VAR in the PL this season at least. Other major leagues have already approved of VAR:

Quote
Will VAR be used in La Liga and Serie A?

The Premier League will be the only major top flight league in Europe operating without VAR next season. La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 will all be using the technology for the 2018-19 campaign.

527  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain Television Coming to Fox Business Network on: July 28, 2018, 10:16:14 AM
Bitcoin has been hinted about on numerous occasions on the hit TV show Mr. Robot which I think a lot of techno nerds know of. Now, this 'blockchain television' sounds like Fox network are going to do a business talk show about Bitcoin on a weekly basis analyzing market trends and covering crypto news etc. However, I am not sure how appealing this type of a show would be for the general audience when there are already Internet podcasts and live streams on multiple online streaming platforms dedicated to discussing crypto investment tips and, most importantly,  they are readily available every day.
528  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Buying and Selling Bitcoin with Skrill on: July 28, 2018, 09:47:23 AM
I think you can only deposit or buy crypto with your fiat wallet on Skrill and are not allowed to withdraw anything out of your account. It's like a closed system where you can only convert back and forth within Skrill. And the fees are kinda high in my opinion so all this ordeal is not worth it in the grand scheme of things when there are better exchanges around which allow withdrawals to personal wallets.
529  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling addiction mainly due to loneliness and dissatisfaction? on: July 28, 2018, 06:49:48 AM
I don't know whether this argument is true or not. I know a few of these gambling addicts (some of whom happens to be my friends). These people are definitely not lonely or dissatisfied with their lives.

Yeah definitely. Loneliness or dissatisfaction have nothing to do with the degree of susceptibility of some people to the effects of gambling. There are sex addicts for example who are happily married with children and cheat regularly on their spouses. They are very well off and satisfied with their lives. They are not suffering from any loneliness or dissatisfaction either. It depends on the particular person. Heck there are clinics specilialized in treating all kinds of weird addictions like PC games or Internet addiction etc. Are all of these people lonely and depressed?
530  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: International Champions Cup on: July 28, 2018, 06:29:59 AM
And the weekend is here guys  Cheesy We have 3 continuous days of games - 3 matches today and 3 tomorrow and a single match on Monday.
The schedule is as follows:

Saturday

Arsenal - PSG
Benfica - Juventus
Chelsea - Inter

Sunday

Man United - Liverpool
Bayern Munich - Man City
Barcelona - Tottenham

Monday

PSG - Atletico Madrid

Frankly speaking, I am not certain about any of the matches as far as any favorites are concerned, so maybe the best thing to do here is to bet on goals instead. Personally, I am going to do another little experiment and parlay all 7 games and bet both teams to score in all of them. The previous one was unsuccessful due to 1 match (damn you Bayern  Grin) and I hope this time around luck will be on my side.

And I just wanted to put the schedule out there so you won't miss out on any betting action in case you forget about the games this couple of days. It's the weekend after all  Wink
531  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NO! Do Not Invest all you have on Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies on: July 26, 2018, 07:10:17 PM
Diversification of the investment portfolio is key. Putting all your net worth into Bitcoin is asking for trouble. Yes, you could luck out and become super rich if you get early on the bandwagon, but it's also true that you could lose everything and have to live on the streets afterwards. I think the real danger is for the late wannabe investors who are trying to emulate the rags-to-riches stories of early adopters. Those people, blinded by greed, can't day trade properly and once in a downward spiral incur massive losses. So be careful people and always remember that some people have to lose money in order for you to gain money and vice versa. Don't be on the losing end.
532  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: International Champions Cup on: July 26, 2018, 02:27:24 PM
And Atletico Madrid won against Arsenal 2-1 after penalties... Darn it! If only Bayern Munich hadn't slacked in the very first match of the day and had scored a goal vs Juventus... And if Juventus - Bayern Munich had been the last and not the first match of the tournament day I would have just hedged it or cashed out and would have had approx. a 10 odds winning betslip haha  Grin Sometimes a little bit of luck is needed to hit all events on the parlay and it's so infuriating when one goal screws your entire slip  Roll Eyes
533  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA WORLD CUP 2018? on: July 26, 2018, 08:54:28 AM
Ozil and Gundogan took a controversial photo together with the Turkish president Erdogan which sparked quite the debate in Germany and ultimately angered a lot of people. They have never taken a photo with the German chancellor Angela Merkel for example and yet they did so with Erdogan despite the unstable political situation in Turkey. Then after the scandal broke and Germany was eliminated from the World Cup in Russia Ozil said he was tired of being the scapegoat and was fed up with the 'racism and disrespect' in the German national football team and he finally quit the team as expected.
534  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA WORLD CUP 2018? on: July 26, 2018, 06:04:46 AM
A country of just 4 million people winning the world cup? That would have been historic... BTW.... around 20% of the world population reside in my country and we were not able to qualify for the tournament. On the other hand, Iceland (with a population of just 300,000) managed to qualify.

How did Iceland do that, its not even the size of a large city in population so they must have some amazing strategy or training in place there.  Or was it purely lucky and poor performance by the opponents along the way ?

What's even more impressive is that the head coach of the Iceland national football team is a practicing dentist and some of the players have other jobs outside football like their goalkeeper Hannes Halldorsson who is a filmmaker and I think there is at least 1 more footballer with a 2nd job I can't remember the name of at the moment. It's just crazy how semi-professional footballers can compete against football superstars and beat them at their own game haha  Grin I think Iceland has quality over quantity and the whole country, as small as it is, is very fond of the football game. And their Viking Clap is simply awesome!
535  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: International Champions Cup on: July 26, 2018, 04:58:47 AM
Well Bayern Munich ended up being the party pooper for me as they couldn't score and lost 2-0 vs Juventus in the first match of the day. Kinda disappointing when the other 4 matches have had both teams to score so far. Now if the 6th and final match of today Atletico Madrid - Arsenal finishes with both teams scoring as well I will be really bummed haha..... Saying goodbye to those 15 odds oh well  Roll Eyes
536  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: International Champions Cup on: July 25, 2018, 01:52:51 PM
There is one more match tomorrow afternoon by the way - Atletico Madrid - Arsenal. I want to make a risky but really fun bet - I am going to parlay all 6 matches and bet both teams to score in all 6 of them.
Hmm so I tried finding the Atletico Madrid - Arsenal game, but apparently it's not available for betting yet. Parlaying the BTTS bets from the other 5 games gives around 9.40 total odds. The median odds for BTTS is 1.55 so if we multiply the total odds we got so far with the 6th game we would get around 14.5 odds. I might throw a dollar on that just for fun haha.
537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Cryptocurrency sponsorships in professional sports on: July 25, 2018, 10:58:24 AM
So, with the increased popularity of Bitcoin among investors and sports enthusiasts some professional sports teams and athletes have landed crypto sponsorships which I think is a great way of spreading the word about the crypto revolution worldwide. Elite sports leagues have a huge fan base and attract millions of viewers every year so the crypto industry as a whole can reach a lot of prospective crypto users all over the world. For example, football is probably the most popular sport in the world and the Premier League is one of the most watched championships and a Polish cryptocurrency exchange CoinDeal has opted to become jersey sponsors of the newly promoted club Wolverhampton Wanderers. Arsenal signed a deal with US cryptocurrency gaming platform CashBet Coin in January, too.
Some professional players are promoting crypto projects as well. Lionel Messi is advertising the world's first mass-produced blockchain phone,
James Rodriguez has issued his own cryptocurrency asset, and Eden Hazard and Sergio Aguero endorse a company making a sports industry blockchain.

Do you think crypto companies are soon going to replace traditional sponsors like fiat casinos and sportsbooks or airline companies, car manufacturers etc.?
538  Economy / Economics / Re: Be greedy when others are fearful... on: July 25, 2018, 08:17:30 AM
This has been said a million times already, but I will repeat it once more : if you buy the dump and sell the pump you will make money on the crypto exchanges long-term. Be greedy = you are buying coins while others are fearful and selling on the dump, be fearful = you are selling coins while others are greedy and buying on the pump. Believe it or not the market follows a pattern and if you are doing the opposite of what others are doing you will make money. Don't follow the sheep  Wink
539  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Samsung announce to accept crypto and blockchain payment on: July 25, 2018, 06:49:52 AM
Please stop posting about this, it is already confirmed that this is fake news. In any way, why should we be happy if a big company like SamSung starts to accept Bitcoin as a payment option, via a third party payment processor? The whole idea is to stay anonymous and all these third party payment processors, destroy your pseudo anonymity.

Anyone posting "congratulation" type posts after this, should be reported to the mods, because they did not care to read the posts up to this post.  Angry

But how will Samsung know who has bought what and how are they going to send you your stuff if you have paid with Bitcoin without revealing your name and shipping address? I don't think you could pick your items up at a store without showing your ID card first either.
I doubt Samsung will ever accept Bitcoin as payment directly, because the value is so volatile that it would be a huge liability for them to hold it as is. Payment processors like BitPay minimize the risks for merchants wiling to include Bitcoin in their stores. And anonymous shopping with Bitcoin is a myth by the way.
540  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Samsung announce to accept crypto and blockchain payment on: July 25, 2018, 05:55:26 AM
Wasn't the same old news posted here some days ago? Anyways these crypto news sites need to stop churning out articles about the first rumour they have heard of and start double checking their facts and sources. I think this CopPay company wanted to get free publicity by announcing a bogus partnership with Samsung and now when the jig is up they said there had been no such deal haha. What a stupid marketing stunt that was.
