International football pisses me off to be honest, total mood kill. Can’t wait for the PL games to return next weekend. It’s part of the fun for every weekend. I must do better in our pool next weekend though Cheesy

it's not just you, but certainly most of the people here Grin
nobody is interested in games like andorra vs. san marino or liechtenstein vs. germany ... a weekend without league games is a lost weekend Tongue

Well you don't have to watch those games but there's normally at least one fixture that is worth the watch, or at least you get to see some goals when a world class team plays a minnow.

i have already taken a look at the next matchday and there is one game that is already of great importance
arsenal vs. norwich
both clubs are still without points and especially arsenal london is lagging behind its goals. if they won't win the game against norwich city either, there will be a lot of trouble there.

I'm sure Arsenal will grab a win here. If they don't Arteta will be in big trouble. I wouldn't back the draw personally as I think this is the game where Arsenal will turn things around.

The first 3 weeks of the Premier League were like a nightmare for me. I'm at the 45th place now and several matches didn't end like I expected. I locked my choices well in advance for the 4th week by determining a different strategy. I hope that I can climb at least a few steps this week.

You don't need to 'lock' them (if that's what you actually did). As long as they're in then it's fine. It's best leaving them unlocked I find so you can change them if you change your mind or the line-ups change etc.
522  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: September 01, 2021, 11:10:02 AM
There's no games until the 11th now due to internationals. Maybe we can get two more players before then to get it up to 50. They'll be at the bottom of the table now though so it's less appealing to join. If anyone knows people who are already playing on Superbru their points will carry over if they join the pool so maybe tell them about it.

I also dropped by 11 places to number 14th on the leaderboard, I knew it was going to be an awful week.

I hate when the week result are filled with draws, and we had 5 draws this week, some were not so expected imo.. Congratulations to Hilarious for the winning the round, he often thrives with those draw picks.

I was surprised to win the yellow cap this round as I wasn't that confident with my choices but I guess going for draws paid off. There were a lot of games I really couldn't chose a winner on. I wonder how Ronaldo joining United will effect peoples predictions now? Will they have a title shot now? I think they'll certainly give City a run for their money. The Manchester derby is on the 6th of November so looking forward to that one.
523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My friend got arrested in a p2p scam on: August 26, 2021, 10:26:30 AM
Now I feel worried about whether it is truly safe to use P2P. If we fall for such a kind of scam, Though I still didn't and I always verified and 100+ order completed people plus checked his review and 100% review gained people. And I want to know if you guys have any such experience on p2p? Please share your story.

The sad truth is is that with bank transfers basically anyone can say 'my account was hacked' or that they didn't authorise the payment and the bank will probably take their word for it. Once the bitcoin has been sent then there's no way to recover it and that's the risk you take when you accept his sorts of payments so weigh up the risk when you're engaging in them.

Now he is dealing with someone who gives a good return and is also our country's man. My friend fixed a deal with him and the deal will be a bank transaction. The scammer sent money to my friend and my friend got a deposit message from his bank.

I would be vary weary of anyone giving you a 'good deal' because they often end up the opposite like this case. You should stick to people with a long history of good deals/feedback and build up a rapport with a reputable one and stick to them rather than chancing it on others, but be aware many people can do a handful of smaller good deals to then scam at the first chance you trust them with a big amount. Check the Currency Exchange board here as there will be lots of reputable sellers.
524  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley on: August 26, 2021, 10:10:53 AM
I would be very surprised if Paul wins this, though I don't really care either way. If he losses then it will be a big reality check for him and he will lose a lot of his draw but I'm sure he will have a lot of excuses. However, if he wins this will dramatically up his clout and will open him to much bigger opponents which could be interesting. Don't be surprised to see Connor take an interest if he wins. If Jake wins I could seriously see him fighting Tommy Fury next. Tommy is on this undercard and he's still pretty new to pro boxing and seems to want the fight pretty bad. Fury will gladly take this fight if offered because it's the biggest payday he'll be getting for a while if not of all time. Maybe Jake will make a decision after watching him on this card. Tommy v Paul seems more of a decent match up to be fair, though I think Tommy would win. Would be pretty embarrassing for the Fury family if he didn't. Seems like Jake is also taking a pay cut to give the undercard fighters a better pay which if true is nice of him: https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/boxing/jake-paul-tommy-fury-boxing-21378608

Another person paid so we just need two more people now for 50 and a pot of 0.2. If anyone still wants to play there's still time but the next round starts on saturday. If you're already playing on Superbru if you join the league your points will carry over to our pool. If not you can still join but you will be given six 'default' points which will put you at the bottom of the table but only one point behind the current last but given that we're only two rounds in you can easily make up ground so it won't be much of a disadvantage. Just PM me if you're thinking of playing but can't pay yet and I'll give you a week or two to pay.

If that happens again I will have to assume he's cheating and ban him from all further competitions Grin.

lol  Grin
LOL where is Toke? Wasn't him the one who destroyed everyone else's dream to be first?
I did not notice Toma was leading too for a long time.

I think he won the pool before tomahawk. He definitely won one of the them but didn't want to play this year even though I tried to persuade him.

EDIT: Superbru killing premium today in my country without any prior explanation has really pissed me off because not only didn't I get a refund (I was halfway in the plan) but also they did it without warning although I was using Apple Pay.

It's not like my bets are clones of the premium predictions (I just use them as data points) but it's the fact that they did it so suddenly in the last couple of hours that has me angry. I think it's pretty stupid to pay for correct score predictions, especially when it's a large sum.

Have you messaged them? They should refund you at least the remaining months but I'd ask for a full refund as you haven't got what you paid/signed up for.

Bump. If anyone still wants to play this week is probably the last chance to sign up without missing out on a lot of points. Superbru gives you 15 'default picks' if you miss the games based on the most likely result and if you sign up now you will be given six points automatically. The current bottom of the table player has 7 points so you'll only be one point behind them and the first place has 26.5 so there's still everything to play for. If we can get 4 more players the pot will be at 0.2 and first place will probably be 0.1. Don't forget the person who also gets the highest points in the weekly round receives a free £50 bet from sportsbet as well and there's 32 chances to win them throughout the season. Just PM me if you want to play but can't pay just yet and I'll give you until the end of the month to do so.

Just 4 more participants and the prize pool gets 0.1 BTC bigger! C'mon guys! Join up!

Read about 'default picks'. Your chances of winning good money in the end are still great.

Tomahawk is this round's yellow cap. Is he gonna run away with it again? He's half a point behind first place and last season I think he held onto that position since the third round or something. If that happens again I will have to assume he's cheating and ban him from all further competitions Grin.

Surprisingly not a single person backed the draw or even a home win.

Yeah, things like these can be quite surprising. The pool consists of 40+ people, the 100% conviction on United winning away from home is an anomaly.

Yeah, that's rare. There's usually one or two crazy fuckers who predict some crazy upset. Sometimes I'm like wtf are these guys doing and then the score comes in  Cheesy.

Like I said before, this week is probably the last chance you'll get to sign up without being at a significant disadvantage. If you sign up now you will be given six points. The bottom three have 3.4, 4.5 and 5.5 so you'll be joint 40th but still have everything to play for.
528  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 23, 2021, 10:21:01 AM
Don't forget there's a game on tonight. The Monday games seem to catch a lot of people out. This one is hard to call a winner so will probably go for the draw.

Not the greatest round for me, my fault for relying on Manchester United Wink. Liverpool on the other hand have been brilliant for me, scoring me maximum points for their game both weeks. I might need to start watching some of the other teams in the Premier League to actually get a little closer on the scores. I thought Manchester United's hype after the Leeds game was unwarranted.

Manchester United I think let us all down today,I thought they would manage to win but Southampton is a strong team when playing in their home field so not that a big upset for me.At least I got the correct score in Tottenham game today which is keeping me in the top ten for two consecutive weeks so far.I think in both remaining games of this week I will manage to get some points more hopefully and let's see how things unfold in the future. So far is really tight at the top.

Surprisingly not a single person backed the draw or even a home win.

I'm watching Leeds United - Everton game and first half finished 1-1. VAR gave that penalty call, it was right thing to do. Everton scored at the first five minutes of second half and took the lead again. It's a though clash, both teams can get points. I think this is the best match today you can watch.

Yeah, it was a penalty but I think Cooper was complaining that the attacker held on to his shirt first which might have been the case but was hard to see on the replay. Cooper should know better to not take the risk doing that in the penalty area though.

Bad scenes right now in the Brighton game. Neal Maupay makes it 2-0 Brighton then a couple of minutes later he is having gas and air on the field. Looks like either a dislocated shoulder or a broken arm. Unfortunate because he was looking very good out there and could have got a hat trick today.

EDIT: he is back on the field! What a recovery half time is he might be able to recover from what ever was wrong and be back for the second half.

Is magic air the new magic sponge?  Grin

BTTS for Leeds vs Everton is already in the bag hehe. It's just a waiting game now for the bet on Everton to win so it becomes 2 out of 2.

Manchester City is sure to win now with how they're obliterating Norwich City. This could end up in a six goal rampage.

Yeah, I won a good bet on that today:

By the way, if anyone still wants to play the Sportsbet sponsored Premier League pool there's still time. Superbru gives you 15 'default picks' if you miss the games based on the most likely result and if you sign up now you will be given six points automatically (which is only 2.5 less than what I got this round and the people at the bottom of the table only got 3.5, 4.5 and 5.5 so you will be above them at least). When if it's tricky for you go for draws. I agree with you on those two and hence why I've gone for draws on both. Leeds might have the home advantage given it's their first game in front of crowds at home in the PL, but they didn't play great last week and Everton picked up a win so the draw looks good to me. Palace and Brentford could cancel each other out so it's another draw for me.

Nice analysis man, you'd have gotten at least 3 points from that, I'd suppose?

I went with a draw in Palace vs Brentford game, but opted for an Everton 2 -1 win Over Leeds United, which of course I could have grabbed exact point from if not for the equaliser from Leeds.

It's been a fair day so far, I've also got Brighton to win, so things can still get even better.

You win some you lose some. Got 3 points on the Palace 0-0. Bore draws are always risky and zero-zeroes even more so but you can pick up points on them as hardly anyone has the balls to go for them. Got 1.5 points for the close on the Leeds match as well. Also won a decent bet on that:

Worth putting on if you think there's gonna be goals. I've won them at odds of 250/1 before.

The only game that I successfully predicted the result of was Norwich - Liverpool this week. Even though there were really surprising results on the first week of the EPL to me, our friends in the group were really successful. I'd like to congratulate them. I joined this awesome group for the first time ever in this year. And I'm quite angry at myself because I didn't join it in the past years.
I had a bad start in the previous season but ended up in the top-10 by the end of it, so it's totally fine to have a bad start. I had a terrible start during the first round this year as well, and I'm currently at #42. But I'm sure it's just bad luck, especially with having 3 close predictions but zero exact ones. I also shouldn't have started the season with trying to predict draws and putting 3 of them in my picks. There's plenty of time for mistakes given how long the EPL season is, though, and good luck to us all with the upcoming rounds!

I started last season somewhat fairly but I lost pace along the mid-season only for me pick up well in the last few weeks... If there's anything I've got to learn here is that, just try to remain within average point each week, then 4-5 good weeks would be all that is needed to finish within winners lists.

A few mid-table tricky games we've got tomorrow,
Palace - Brentford, and Leeds vs Everton are the trickiest imo, I still haven't made a precise decision on who to pick.

famososMuertos has just paid and signed up. The next game isn't till Saturday so lets se if we can get a handful more players to hit the 50 bench mark. If we get 51 or more we can do a consolation prize for the highest overall yellow cap which gives everyone something to play for regardless of where in the table they are.

Pretty embarrassing for Pep that they can't even beat Spurs without Kane. Only 5 people backed the home win which isn't surprising. I was expecting City to run away with the league this season but maybe not now, which is always a good thing. Will be interesting to see is Coutinho or Mbappe end up in the PL. Liverpool seem to be interested in both. Will be interesting to see how PSG justify being able to have all their players on the books.

it's just the first round and one game played, this result still shows nothing. most City players had responsibilities in national teams. many of them have just returned from vacation certainly this is not what should be expected of them during the season.
although they have been playing the same way for years, surely the other teams will adjust the strategy against them and make them a lot of complications. it will not be easy.

Well, yeah, in the grand scheme of things it means nothing but start as you mean to go on. City nearly went unbeaten a couple of seasons ago. I thought they'd be pretty invincible this season too. Nice to shake things up early on.

Will be interesting to see is Coutinho or Mbappe end up in the PL. Liverpool seem to be interested in both. Will be interesting to see how PSG justify being able to have all their players on the books.
I am thinking Coutihno could be realistic but no way Liverpool is signing Mbappe after Klopp said that he does not know how Guardiola can spend 100M on a player  Grin If Mbappe leaves PSG and I think it is likely after those latest media outbursts from him it will be to Real Madrid, no other club has a chance in my opinion.

I agree with Mbappe to be honest. Probably just BS rumours. I wonder if there's any buyback clauses in Coutinho's contract that they can get him for cheap? Mbappe seems like a City player to me. If he was to come to the PL it will probably be there.

The rumours about Harry Kane are still going on. He is still expected to join Manchester City before the end of this transfer window. However, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy doesn't seem like he will be leaning towards a deal like this. Kane is their best player without doubt and Levy doesn't want to lose him. But on the other hand, Kane still wants to leave the team as soon as possible. He didn't play against Manchester City today due to personal reasons. Maybe these reasons are related to this possible transfer or something else, we don't know it. But I'm hoping to see him leaving the team now and joining City. He can achieve titles there but it's obvious that he won't be able to do it here.

Most reports seem to be saying Kane will stay another year. Spurs will probably want the full buy out clause on his contract and I'm not even sure City could afford that or even be willing to pay it. Maybe Kane will change his mind now they've got three points from City.

With all respect to Cyril Gane, I dont see him as a heavyweight champion. At least not for a long time.
Fun fact - he has beaten Lewis, but Lewis is still higher than Gane in rating. Who will Gane face next? Is it 100% decided, that he will face Ngannou or he need to beat top2 Stepe Miocic?

I can't see anyone else who deserves a shot at Ngannou more than Cyril Gane as he's unbeaten, but maybe Stipe would be a good fight before Francis. I don't see anyone beating Ngannou right now though.

I think Stipe makes the most sense to me, but then again I'm probably bias, as I don't think Gane is ready for Ngannou. I don't know, I've been wrong multiple times about Gane, and he's won convincingly each time. So, I don't know logically to me he should get through Stipe first, since I'd probably make that Stipe VS Ngannou fight again, as that's been a lot of fun each time.

I don't think anyone is ready for Francis. It probably depends on what Ngannou wants. He can pretty much command whoever I just hope he doesn't get too stubborn or greedy like Jon Jones. I'm sure there's a lot of fighters who don't want to fight him either. I wouldn't be in a hurry to get into the ring with him as I'd like to keep my head attached to my neck  Cheesy.

Leicester's victory in the FA Super Cup proves once again that the stars do not decide anything. The most important thing is the team. 11 people play football. I am happy for Leicester. I am glad that there are such teams that prove that nothing is lost in football and not everything. money decides.

Did you see the line-up? City practically had a B-team out. No Foden, no Sterling, No Jesus, No DeBruyne. No Stones, Walker or Ederson either. This was basically a glorified friendly. Pep never seems to take these trophies seriously. All he cares about is the PL and CL.

eh, you never know. PSG have a 200M+ debt, they to need to offload players or the finances could go from bad to worse. Mbappe's contract will expire in july next year (rumours say he doesn't want to renew), you can either sell him now or risk losing him for free next season. I wouldn't put Mbappe to Madrid at 1/4 odds, maybe 3/1 odds?
So does Lique I have easier rules about finance than La Liga?

I know PSG got troubles with UEFA many times but they figured out to get out of such a few times. It would be challenge for them to keep all Neymar, Mbappe and sign with Messi but don't break rules of UEFA.

Mbappe will probably go if Messi arrives. They surely can't afford to have all three of them so something will have to give. Each league is different in how they enforce financial issues though but all European teams are still governed by EUFA rules which they have to abide by. UEFA needs to crack down on things though as if teams can just pay fines for breaching the rules then they'll just keep doing it. They need to be kicked out of the Champions League which is what all top teams are playing for so if there's severe penalties they'll start playing by the rules. The thing is though, clubs will easily always be able to sneakily get around fair play rules as there will be loopholes just like they're is with taxes. Don't be surprised if players are getting given houses and luxury cars and other such things that aren't mentioned in the contracts to sweeten the deal, especially the world class players. I'm sure a lot of them will even get their rents or mortgages paid for or clubs will start buying luxury houses for their star players to stay in for free which will be thrown at them to try entice them to come.

26 people have paid so far so halfway there. We'll get 30 users but really was hoping for 50 so spread the word. I'm sure most of us know a friend or someone else who would play so if ten of us could bring in someone else we'd soon get to 50.

Mind you, I've put plenty of win-to-nil predictions, hedging the incredible Specials on Matchday 1 Sportsbet has put out (433/1 for BTTS on all games and 366/1 on a goal in each half).

This thread also gets bumped fairly often, so hard to imagine regulars unaware of it now.
Both hilarius and me are using "old" threads for our respective pools so I am sure all the gambling section regulars have to be aware of them. Right?
Regarding those specials you mentioned, go read Sportsbet twitter or my last post for nice small surprise. Could have worded it better Smiley

Maybe it's psychological.  Bitcoin having such a higher value than it did this time last year might make some feel like it's more expensive than last year.  But again, we have a week before the season starts and there are still some who haven't registered.  18 members have registered on Superbru, but the address shows at least 25 member have paid the entrance fee.  Hopefully we can get at least five more to join in the next week.

Well the fee is actually much less in terms of bitcoin amount. If you think bitcoin is going to rally this year then the pot is going to get much bigger throughout the season. The annoying thing is there's always people wanting to play after the season starts and I know that will happen again.

You see all the regulars in the various league threads, and then come to a pool like this for a relatively paltry sum and disappointing responses.

Some 'regulars' in this gambling section probably dont gamble at all Roll Eyes but yeah the responses was kinda dissapointing. I was expecting somewhere between 35-40 this time because we had 47 players last season

It must have something to do with the fact that 0.0045BTC (last year's entry fee) is written all over the OP so people think that's the fee. It should be updated to reflect the new season and adjusted 0.002BTC fee.

Next to nobody will be reading the op in here.

No! Heresy! People posting in Bitcoin forums who don't use Bitcoin, and gambling section who don't gamble? But you're right, I feel like I'm missing some users who were active users a year ago and not anymore. Pamoldar/somethingbitcoingirl reappeared recently, for example. I guess people do have lives.

There's obviously a lot of gamblers here but they will be dwarfed by shitposters just looking for an easy avenue to hit their signature campaign quotas. Lots of people here know little to nothing about bitcoin or probably care much about it but they can rack up a lot of posts just talking about sports.

I recognize about half the members from the euros pool. I hope more of them join so we can push the total over 30 Smiley

21 people paid so far. We should get 30 as there's a handful of people who have promised to pay. Was kinda hoping we got 50 again though so the pool would be at 0.2.

Lots of people talks about gambling but very few among us actually gamble with significant amounts money. I believe this buy in will be too big for some of the guys on the edge but I don't mind it in the least. 50 is a bit on high side for my liking and I would be very happy if had around 30 players.
Don't you think this is quite ironic? Almost every second person on the forum participates in a signature campaign, and in fact the cost of the registration fee equates to one week of payment. I do not think that with the money earned in this way, someone pays the bills for food, I would say that many people spend this modest bonus on their small hobbies in the form of betting or buying trinkets, etc.

For example, I spend this money on betting and paying for services such as protonmail, and I'm pretty sure my views are no different from those of the regulars in the gambling section. So I agree with the statement that if someone cannot afford to pay the modest entry fee for the whole season, then they should refrain from betting altogether.

People will talk about sports and gambling here all day just as long as it doesn't cost them  Cheesy. I'm surprised the pool isn't much more popular given how many people probably bet on the PL every week and it's a one off fee so it's not like you'll be chasing your losses. Maybe most people just aren't aware of it. I doubt the fee is that much of an issue given you can make that quite easily if you're on a signature campaign.

The games start in a week, but only 11 people joined the pool so far. Come on, guys, let's do this! We had almost 50 people for the previous season, and it was a great competition and a nice atmosphere with so many people taking part. Why isn't it the case this time? Is it just about the fee, or am I missing something? If it's the fee, I want to remind you that a year ago we paid 0.0045 BTC easily. And it's 9 months worth of rounds, so it's only $9 per month on gambling at the current BTC price. I really hope a lot more people will join in the remaining time.

17 people have paid so far and another 5 have said they will pay asap.

I don't remember what the entry fee was last year, but I don't recall it being much less than this year's in fiat terms, so I kind of doubt that the expense is the issue.  I hope that the short notice isn't why people aren't joining.  Hilariousandco has already mentioned that he'll give folks some time to come up with the payment.  There's still a week left before the season begins, so hopefully we'll get some more folks to join.

Like last time I will give people a grace period of a month or so to pay if that'll help someone get the money together.

The entry fee was 0.0045, which was a little under £40 at the time I believe. 0.002 is a little over £60 right now with the price of bitcoin hovering above £30k, but it was moving between £50-55 the week I announced the thread. I think more people signed up last year as there was extra prizes of a shirt for everyone that joined so that was worth the price alone. I'm sure we'll get 30+ but a few previous members have said they're not playing this year. The fee really isn't much considering it's an entire season of fun and you can't chase your losses since it's a one-off fee. If you're on a signature campaign then you'll almost certainly make it back just by posting in this thread throughout the season anyway and if you win the weekly round then the $50 bet almost covers the entry fee. Hopefully bitcoin will keep rallying throughout the season and the prize pot will be more valuable as well. Put it this way, at least one person is going to win the 0.1 jackpot and that's worth the gamble of £50-60 in my opinion.
