521  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core version 0.12.1 released on: April 18, 2016, 07:46:59 PM
Anyone using XP and know if 0.12.1 fixes the crashing issue present in 0.12.0?

The problem is XP. There are known problems with 0.12 with XP. See https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/7674 and https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/7639. However i don't think it will be fixed since XP support from Microsoft has ended and thus fixing an XP only problem is not worth it to the core devs. See https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/7681 for the discussion about that.
So v0.12 is a total bust for me.  It crashed once more and I cannot get it to start up no matter what.  It sometimes makes it to "checking addresses" on the loading screen, but never any further.  Sometimes it crashes as soon as the loading screen appears.  I went back to 0.11.2 and it loads just find so it is a bug specific to 0.12.

Here are a few of my logs from the crashes, you can see the program just stops with no indication of any sort of error.

522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core version 0.12.0 released on: April 18, 2016, 07:41:28 PM
Perfect, that is exactly my issue.  Thanks for sharing the link, I'll follow that and see what develops.  There are still so many XP users out there that it would be a shame if bitcoin core was not longer able to be run on it.
If I were a core developer I wouldn't care about any people using Windows XP and reporting problems. Sorry but XP is a security risk from my pov and EOL since nearly 2 Years!
For some people hard but the truth...

Sorry, but Win10 is way more of a "security risk" than a well maintained and firewalled XP system, but Win10 still gets support so go figure...

Going to try 0.12.1 and see if it has the same crash syndrome, hopefully not.

My Avalon 6 had its best record share here over the weekend, but at only 2G it was nothing to get terribly excited about.  This block is a killer, but we can knock it out!
524  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: April 18, 2016, 07:25:51 PM
Well this post here is clearly not about the R1, but rather about solo mining an altcoin:
Is this the correct way to Solo mine Tek coin ? i other words, am i mining tek?
I do not see any hashes in the pool,...or will this take bit more time to see?

It wasn't the set-up part of the other conversation I was commenting on, but it was this point in the discussion where things went altcoin:

Seems like a interesting coin to mine whit a R1.
http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency/?sort=hashrate&dir=desc

you only get 1 coin per block..

Yeh noticed that to, switched to universal currency for now. R1 seems to get a bit better hash-rate on universal currency.

If we can keep this discussion focused on the R1 and not the altcoins that it could mine that would be warm and fuzzy.

I'm not a moderator but I play one on TV.

this isnt a pool or coin forum, not sure why altcoin discussion wouldnt be allowed here..
People always say this because they can't read what forum they are in (I added the bold and underline to help you):

and i will pick Golden State Warriors -13 for tonight match, i am pretty it will win by more big margin this match.
I'm sure they'll win, but the margin of victory (and the O/U scoring) will largely depend on Steph C.'s ankle and if he plays at all.  If I was GS I would sit him tonight.

Out all weekend and came home to see the round duration had reset on my monitor, so I was like "yay" but then I saw it was a stale solve.  It's sad to see that one bad block has caused the pool to lose like 35% of its hash. Sad

Please take all your altcoin discussions to the altcoin forum, they do not belong here.

The charts are still looking a little peaky, but it's obvious that a lot of that hash that was coming on and off has stayed on now.  I think this is really interesting to watch as the halving gets closer.  I think it's going to be ~flat this time, but we'll see.

The prize:

2BTC

The catch:

You must actively be mining on the pool to qualify.
Cool contest, good idea, but I need a little clarification on the above.  What constitutes "active mining" to win?  Do you have to be mining for the entire round the block was solved, or do you have to be mining when you place your guess, or do you have to be mining when the block is actually solved?  I point my big gun here or BCMonster or cksolo so I'm not here all the time, thanks!

I would like to guess 77.7% pending answer to above.  If I need a miner here 24/7 to qualify I have a gekko stick @ 20GH I can point here from cksolo.  Otherwise I will assume to understand it to mean I could only win if I was actively mining here when the block was solved.

No, the potential is 3BTC. There are no other current promotions.  Win the game? Get 2BTC. Did you also find the block? Get an additional 1BTC.  There is no additional block finder's bonus or under 100% bonus - those were the last rounds' promotions Smiley
What about the "find a block with your own gear" bonus, was that just a one-time thing, too?

@booblelp: 141 GH/s over a week with an Antrouter R1 ?

Wow Shocked Grin !

Gtx,

He should mine to a new payout address never used from another miner of him.

Yes, I definitely agree.  That should be one of the other very few rules we have, that you must use a brand new address to mine to so as not to adversely affect the stats reported on the web page.

Looks like another cksolo block solve over the weekend as the bestshare stats have reset again.

Since the quote is in his post and it's his IP, I think he will take care of it. Smiley

do you have the IP xxx.xx.xxx.xxx ?
thank you Smiley

i will unblock the ip asap
should be done in some minutes then you can view the page

should work again

You should edit your post to remove his IP address, not sure if he wants that displayed publicly.

And I'm happy to report I'm no longer last, finally!  Well, for now at least...

Cool setup, I'm surprised you've OC'd the S1 instead of undervolting it.  You could replace them with S3 for the same wattage footprint.

You should spin the Avalon6 around 180* so it exhausts into the open and not directly into a wall.  The Avalon 6 likes to exhale!

500W is too small for an S3, I'm surprised you haven't melted it down yet.  A good rule of thumb is to not exceed 80% of the rated power of the psu.

No, there is no extra coin sitting in the pool.  All it means is that when the payouts are calculated, it uses every single share ever submitted in the calculation.  Once that total meets or exceeds the 5N, then only that number of shares would be used.
Gotcha.  Would there be value in changing that value until the pool is larger?

Just to think out loud, like a PPS sort of system right now might be interesting, meaning if each user were paid just for the ratio of their shares submitted on the solved block to how many total shares the pool submitted before solving the block.  It would have meant larger payouts for those mining the quick luck blocks.

I know I've been here since very early on, any way to figure where I land on the Time here ranking?
You can look on the rewards page and see what the first block solved here was that you were paid for, that gives a good indication of about when you started mining here.

Amazing lucky block, glad I turned my machine back on just in time!  Unfortunately weather is warm again so it's back to night-only mining.

All 3 payments received, thank you!

By the way - we aren't even at N yet. The pool has total shares of 662,007,564,425.  5N is 893,391,538,360.  Everybody is still in the "ramp up" phase.
That's interesting, what does it mean in terms of pay outs?  I mean, I understand that no one would receive a "full payout" until 5N, and since no one is at 5N does that mean there is extra coin sitting in the pool that hasn't been paid out?

Way cool, big congrats!  Unfortunately my Avalon6 that had been here for several days was off for the last 24 hours so I think I missed the second block.  I actually turned it back on today when I got home before I even knew the pool had solved 2 more blocks.  Needless to say it's back again for a bit.  Keep it green!

I dunno, I just got a bad feeling is all...

I almost guessed 7.0 there that last round, I think that would have meant I would have won?  Well weird that my bad feeling was pretty close, guess I gotta pay attention to my feelings more.  Cheesy
