5341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [800,000 DVC remaining bounty] for Devcoin preliminary testing on: August 05, 2011, 07:32:10 PM
For importing you can use pywallet
It has a web interface, and entirely works with Devcoin, I just tested it

Thanks for the tip, I edited the announcement post and added that.  If you want me to add instructions, please post them or message me and I'll edit the announcement again.

Also, when you post your devcoin testing post, if you would add what you had to do to import a key with pywallet that would be great.
As I didn't do anything special I thought a testing post was useless, but ok I'll make one, including pywallet importing

Also I just read the old post, many thanks for the gift! Here's my address: 1M1BzQBpb8sbCuNzBTaae9PBdvjLthVrbR
My friend isn't a developer and basically told me 'keep your devcoins and give me some bitcoins instead' Sad

People can have my encrypted content in dropbox, they'll be brute-forcing it until the end of the universe.
Same here

Someone engraved the card, right?
Bruce would better pick 64 random hexadecimal digit and get the corresponding Bitcoin address
5346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: best ewallet on: August 05, 2011, 01:27:46 AM
I'd say at this point, of all the choices, your best one is probably MtGox. Not only have they been through security test hell, and came out on the other side with better security in place, but they've also shown that they, as a company, are willing to take a personal loss to make their users whole again.
Agreed
It's even more worth it if you had the Yubikey for free

Does anyone know which block the ASCII is in?

It seems you don't have the bsddb python package

Also OP, it's Sassaman, not Sassama
5350  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [50 BTC total bounty] for Groupcoin development and help on: August 05, 2011, 12:07:06 AM

Still can't mine btw

Who says it's American?
Anyway..  listen to Len here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqZNebWoqnc
He sounds American to me.

Also..

Tom Williams  -  3 chars, 8 chars
Len Sassaman - 3 chars, 8 chars

Coincidence?

I think you should email Dan Kaminsky. He clearly knew Sassaman and he might know something about that... Here is his website: http://dankaminsky.com/

Tom Williams  -  3 chars, 8 chars
Len Sassaman - 3 chars, 8 chars
Dan Kaminsky  - 3 chars, 8 chars

Conspiracy, conspiracy everywhere
5352  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stock market crash - 5 % overall on: August 04, 2011, 11:16:02 PM
I'm super long stocks and have 95% of my assets in them.  I've more than doubled my initial investment since I started buying in Feb/March 2009 (held cash until the Citigroup memo leak that started the rally).

Bitcoin gains are like taking steroids - you might double or triple your size, but in the end you'll end up with nothing and disappointment.  Stock market gains are, well, awesome, and buying during historically 'bad' times for the market yields an average of 10%/year in return, even if you just randomly buy companies.  Anyone putting more than a couple of bucks in a technology which is in early beta and based upon encryption that's going to be obsolete in four years is nuts.
Agreed
I love FUD too
The sky is falling SELL SELL SELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!11!!!!11!

5354  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if a Bitcoin exchange "loses" the wallet.dat? on: August 04, 2011, 08:01:28 PM
I always backup my wallet to my ram drive so I can get it faster when I need it.   Tongue
ram drive i hope you are joking!
Why?
Bitomat used to do that and it is the third biggest exchange

Oh wait
5355  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: NameCoin Mining pool Open for the Brave [3 blocks found 10+ GHs *New feature*] on: August 04, 2011, 05:28:53 PM
I have been hashing more than an hour now and the avg speed the site displays is around 150 MH/s

According to  my own stats (Guiminer) I do between 180 and 190, number of shares submitted is the same as is the number of stales. Any idea where this discrepancy could come form ?

2nd thing: If I direct more than 1 GH/s to you till you are out of beta, am I still eligible for the 10 free BTC ?  Grin

Brat

Edit: avg speed is now up to date, leaves the question about the 10 BTC  Wink
I think it's 10 NMC Roll Eyes
5356  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is Bitcoin tanking this afternoon? on: August 04, 2011, 05:22:51 PM
http://pastebin.com/MmguJm3Z

I didn't crack the hash, but I can only assume this is true.

Code:
$ echo -n 'th3j35t3r got trolled'|md5sum
8bb4cdc8f511ad386e723f298c9b3c39  -
Looks like it's true.
So they knew that the conversation would be leaked, so all they said is BS........

I found Jackjack7eYNdGkbgUUrtKBraSWBUV5DJP too Grin

Wow!

Is that: 1Jackjack7eYNdGkbgUUrtKBraSWBUV5DJP, or without the 1?

How long did it take you to find it?
No, it really starts with a J, so it works only for Namecoin and testnets
It took less than 10h at about 16Mk/s, i was a bit lucky this time

I just tested the last version to try your fix but I get the same error
5358  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [50 BTC total bounty] for Groupcoin development and help on: August 04, 2011, 03:54:39 PM
Nothing for about 1 minute, then "failed to connect", with Phoenix
I even see the connection in netstat
5359  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [50 BTC total bounty] for Groupcoin development and help on: August 04, 2011, 03:31:58 PM
I checked that, I have 1 connections, it was even 2 when I posted my first message

I'll take a look at Abe, and I'll mine a bit if I can
5360  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [50 BTC total bounty] for Groupcoin development and help on: August 04, 2011, 03:18:18 PM
Hi everybody
I find this project quite interesting!

Moreover, all went fine:
I downloaded devcoin-qt-*, installed dependencies, compiled with qmake and make, and the qt client was ok and started downloading blocks immediately
I just downloaded devcoin-* too for bitcoind, I compiled it and it works ok
My miners can't connect to bitcoind though

I have two questions:
Is there a block explorer?
What help is needed?
