I just made myself a promise:

When difficulty goes up I leave one GPU mining Namecoins (427Mhash/s @ PoolMunity) to keep the network going.
If 1 out of 10 does that, Namecoin might "survive" this increase quickly.
Good idea, I'm with you with 350Mhps
5543  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is deepbit payouts fair? on: July 22, 2011, 04:27:15 PM
Talldude's post -> 50 BTC
-> 0.00001592134093354 BTC / share
-> 0.00248372918563296 BTC for OP
-> 0.00240921731006398 BTC when 3% charges paid

We're saved
5544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Killer transaction fee on: July 22, 2011, 11:33:20 AM
download the newest version of the client, I guess you still run an old version since your fees are so high
0.3.25 still asks for a 0.0005 BTC fee
5545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are all Namecoins in risk of being invalidated? on: July 22, 2011, 11:11:48 AM
When is that soon?
What's the approximate date for the block 24K?
Doesn't bitcoin need any change?

Merged mining will be a huge step forward for block chain crypto-currencies IMO.

End of year I believe

Get educated, learn some math, go to school, don't do drugs.
I saw that not long ago and I'm ok with that Grin
5547  Other / Meta / Re: Forum Violating the U.S. Law on: July 22, 2011, 12:15:53 AM
the image with the physical BitCoin over the nipple is about as "naughty" as this poster for the American remake of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo...

So what exactly is the issue?  That the girl in the photo may or may not be underage, or that underage people could log onto this forum and view the image.

Honestly, you have far more sites online to report before you go reporting this forum.  Don't report 4Chan though, those guys REALLY fight back.
I'd really love seeing mesarah reporting 4chan. Really.
5548  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is "casual" mining still sustainable? Is buying a new rig stupid? on: July 21, 2011, 11:39:44 PM
I'm glad it helped
You can now spend $100 to help Bitcoin economy Wink
5549  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining Namecoins is now 2x more profitable than Bitcoins on: July 21, 2011, 11:03:27 PM
Everybody mine, 30 blocks are found per hour, and the price don't fall?
Are Namecoin early adopters behind that?
Maybe it's because people don't think Namecoins are worthless, and they don't feel like selling them dirt-cheap?
Hashrate is now 5 times what it was 24 hours ago so 80% of people mining Namecoins right now are mining just for profit
I think it's not compatible with them thinking Namecoins aren't worthless, but you seem to be right
A lot of people mine Bitcoins for profit too, and they don't sell them right away.
But about buyers: they know there are much more coins mined, why still buying at the same price?

A lot? Most people who mine, mine for profit. That is basically the concept behind mining, to generate/accumulate bitcoins to trade for goods/services/whatever. To suggest people are not mining for profit is silly, although I will admit that there are potentially some out there that do it just for the lulz or whatever, in the minority.
I was meaning mining only for profit
I mine Bitcoins and it's clearly not only for profit
5550  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is "casual" mining still sustainable? Is buying a new rig stupid? on: July 21, 2011, 11:00:23 PM
If I were to spend $700 on a mining rig and get 600 MH/s out of it, and get it online in a week from today, would it pay for itself eventually?
600 Mhps? Really?
Think again: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_rig

5555  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: With all due respect, official bitcoin client sucks on: July 20, 2011, 11:21:12 PM
Refuse to use bitcoin on any version of windows.

Yes, keep telling people that and you'll surely win over the mainstream market!

Windows users are prevalent, which is a fact that has nothing to do with me.

then what were you trying to get by not using the bitcoin client on windows.

If you use an application that deals with money, on Windows, expect to get robbed.

I think that's what he's getting at, and I agree.
You and him are both WRONG. If you're running a genuine version of Windows 7, with all Windows updates installed and current, and a strong user password with some good anti virus (I recommend Norton or Kaspersky) you will be fine.

It's not Bitcoins fault that there are people on Windows Xp bundled with Avast thinking that they are safe...

Did anything in there imply it was Bitcoin's fault?  No.
You're implying that anyone who's using Windows and Bitcoin together is somehow getting "robbed ".

"Windows 7's infection rates five times lower than Windows XP"

http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=en&source=hp&q=infection+rate+windows+7&pbx=1&oq=infection+rate+windows+7&aq=f&aqi=g-b1&aql=1&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=2529l7823l0l8626l24l17l0l0l0l0l385l4261l0.3.9.5l17&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=804c136e9e03bc4a&biw=1320&bih=706

First result: "Windows 7's malware infection rate climbs, XP's falls - Computerworld", well done

Also the sentence "Windows 7's infection rates five times lower than Windows XP" is just useless. If all XP computers are infected, thus 20% of 7 computers are infected, what a good stat!
And geek-trader was talking about all windows, not just 7
5556  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Someone keeps sending me BTC - what do? on: July 20, 2011, 11:17:13 PM
If you don't want to keep the BTC, I say you should spend it to help support the community.  Buy lots of stuff off the forum to support fellow members.

0.03 BTC/j avec 360Mhps?
Tu dis n'importe quoi au moins pour Deepbit et bitcoins.lc

1 BTC / 6j / 360 Mhps = 0.463 BTC/j/Ghps
La valeur théorique est 0.58, et était encore plus élevée avant alors bon...
5558  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time To Stop Mining? on: July 20, 2011, 09:53:47 PM

Double profit for single energy investment Cheesy
