541  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Leader Changes Mind, Says He’ll Fork Without Developer Consensus on: May 30, 2015, 06:30:12 AM
Is that possible? How about community power? Essentially if everybody who is running a node goes against the idea, somehow can the update actually took place and proceed in the first place? Anyway, when I scroll down further to read the article, one thing that caught my attention is this. Any comment? I have my own reserved thought.

Fortunately, there are hundreds of other cryptocurrencies to choose from that are more stable and more transparent. Coinmarketcap.com shows the gap slowly narrowing between the digital currency leader Bitcoin and the remaining Altcoin pack.

542  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you expect from the halving in 2016? on: May 30, 2015, 06:23:59 AM
Well, this is provided that the demand stays at the same level at it is right now. But I do have a feeling a lot of people or rather would I say short-term investors will quickly dump their coin holdings if it goes up to a certain level. That would be the biggest hurdle if we expect bitcoin price to go up further.

You can see that happening to doge right now when a lot people are seizing on the opportunity to cash out fast when it hit their price target.
543  Economy / Economics / Re: Gold Losing It's Shine? on: May 26, 2015, 02:09:17 PM
It is possible that gold is losing its shine considering the fact that now we have cryptocurrency being slightly better. However, I don't see it becoming oblivion or being forgotten anytime soon. The ideal scenario would be bitcoin moving alongside gold as an alternative investment option and certainly no matter what, those two are still far better than holding onto fiat.
544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best or safest way to store coins? on: May 26, 2015, 02:03:45 PM
I would consider hardware wallets having the slight advantage and better compared to paper wallet. The built-in program by itself already has some security features and you do not need to rely on external program to create paper wallet for you. That is if you don't mind spending some amount of money to get it.
545  Economy / Speculation / Re: Newbie "Impending Doom" Post Speculation on: May 26, 2015, 01:54:24 PM
A thing which I notice is that all the posts are basically worthless, in the sense that it is just a blatant accusation without any solid facts to back it up. At least if you troll or with the intention to create fud, the least that they can do is to try doing some research and fact searching to make it more convincing.
546  Economy / Economics / Re: What happened ? on: May 26, 2015, 01:50:26 PM
Supply and Demand. Obviously the demand side wasn't so strong to absorb whatever coins that get dumped to the open market. Whether those are new coins from mining farms or either it could be from investors who have lost confidence in the system, it is clear that there is not enough buyers to grab all the coins and thus causing the sellers to undercut each others price so that they can sell faster.
547  Economy / Economics / Re: NYSE declares bitcoin "emerging ASSET CLASS" on: May 26, 2015, 01:46:14 PM
When we are talking about assets, we are talking about cash equivalents where we can convert and liquidate it as and when we need it but however in bitcoin, we are already referring to a currency which we can use to purchase and trade for items. Eventually it all depends on how we look at it and in time, I think it would be clearer to define as adoption rate goes up.
548  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much longer till you can buy a Slurpee at 7/11 with Bitcoin? on: May 26, 2015, 01:41:39 PM
When it comes to the question on "when we are ready", there is always a big question mark. I guess when that happens, bitcoin has already reached that stage where you can consider mass adoption. Also you have to consider that in retail market we are talking about where you can just swipe, pay and go. I think this would take longer considering the fact that we haven't even been at its best when it comes to cross border transaction market segment where we would have the best chance to grab the market share.
549  Economy / Speculation / Re: Four Charts That Suggest Bitcoin Value Could Be At 10,000 USD Next Year on: May 26, 2015, 12:29:02 PM
After looking at it, I'm still skeptical especially if you are saying 10k? That's a bit off isn't it? The most I expect the price to be is something like at the 800-ish range and that is if we get lucky. Results from charts and analysis most of the time didn't turn up as expected even though the indicators might tell you it is right.
550  Economy / Speculation / Re: What does it take for Bitcoin to go 100X? on: May 26, 2015, 12:24:08 PM
I would say the offshore deposits will have the most significant impact if we want to see the price going up insanely one day. Imagine tax dodgers moving around the fund and practically these people would not mind paying whatever price is shown on the screen as long as the money goes through to its intended account and fulfilling its objective.
551  Economy / Economics / Re: Good news and Quantitive Easing Without Any Impact on Bitcoin Price on: May 26, 2015, 12:20:28 PM
Reason is, people in general still hasn't really know or even exposed to bitcoin to see its real potential. Yeah, you might say that was years ago but consider this, right now, most of the people I would say is still oblivion or would rather just ignore bitcoin's existence. Until that factor is gone, we won't see a correlation anytime soon when there is a QE taking place.
552  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Why are there no legitimate HYIPs? on: May 26, 2015, 12:16:51 PM
Well, if it's legitimate, then I wouldn't even consider it to be HYIP in the first place. Fact is, there is no such thing as an investment that pays so well with such a high yield usually within short time span without any concrete business plan. It's a game where the winner is decided by who gets in early and who gets out late.
553  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: McDonald's now accepts Apple Pay and Google Wallet on: May 26, 2015, 12:10:56 PM
I think one of the reasons also is because they are established brand name, so the legal stuff kicks in and they would obviously want to deal with a payment system that is actually owned by a company. Bitcoin has none of that but in order to have that level of trust that they system is indeed reliable, we are talking about the scenario few years down the road.
554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Streamium be the killer Bitcoin App? on: May 26, 2015, 12:06:41 PM
Depends on how one looks at it. For me, it will be a killer app because being decentralized, there won't be any issue on what "can" appear and "cannot" appear, it's like no central authority to control and dictate the terms. On another note, I just hope it won't be manipulated or in a way, misused, to an extent that it will make bitcoin look bad.
555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DICE traceable cash on: May 26, 2015, 11:21:12 AM

A key feature is the ability to devaluate banknotes that may have been stolen from a DICE user or which are illegally circulating.

I just wonder how they are going to effectively keep track considering the number of notes in circulation. The next thing you know, some of the banknotes that you are holding becomes invalidated because you happen to exchange it with a person who steals it from someone else. I'm not trying to imply that it's all entirely bad, but definitely some of these potential issues need to be addressed and sorted out.
556  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pay your employees in Bitcoin on: May 26, 2015, 11:08:29 AM
Especially when you compare that against paypal where you have the receiving fee, then later the exchange rate fee to convert back to the local currency and don't forget the withdrawal fee. By the time, that is done, you will be left with almost nothing. I just wonder why a lot of people haven't really realize the potential.
557  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Safe investment to get 6%/year (10-20k, possible long term. Important - safety) on: May 26, 2015, 11:02:13 AM
If you value safety more than anything else, I suggest you just keep your money idling. If you consider the potential that one day the value might go up to be higher than 6 percent (or even down to nothing, worthless), you are already put yourself in a position for investment. So why take unnecessary risk?
558  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many friends did you recommend bitcoin to? Did they accept it? on: May 26, 2015, 10:58:53 AM
Probably I would say none of them ended up a bitcoiner. Closest I did get would say, some of them do try it out, earning through faucet but eventually when you tell them faucets is just a waste of time, they seem to lose interest. They don't really bother telling me the reason why but I guess they treat bitcoin more like a game or online token rather than taking it as seriously as a money.
559  Economy / Economics / Re: Major Banks Admit Price Fixing... Hugh Penalties on: May 21, 2015, 12:22:34 PM
Well for one, I don't see it as something new that is totally unheard of. I'm sure this is not the first time, nor will it spell the last of price fixing. And it's not only the banks but I'm sure all businesses do it as well to monopolize and control price of certain goods and items. And one word says it all - it's "Greed". as long as there is money to be made, I'm sure there's a way
560  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is Bitcoin value more Volatile? on: May 21, 2015, 12:17:36 PM
Well the fact that there is no central bank that intervenes also is one of the reason that led to the volatility. If you observe certain currencies like JPY, the central bank actually intervened if the appreciation of the yen goes up too fast. The central bank will sell their own currency in order to normalize the situation.
