Happy new year everyone!  Smiley

The new year will bring great changes to my life once again. Just as the last one did, as well as 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010 and 2009, 2008.

I used to have a happy marriage, before 2008. It ended about 2 months ago, my ex-wife just could not cope with the "great changes" that year after year, drove us more and more apart. We are now in contact and I got to see my kids for a moment also in Tallinn.

Otherwise: my life is more interesting than blogging about it at the moment Wink There has not been new instances of paranormal activity nor Nato gaslighting. Life is perfect every day and will write more when the page changes, should be soon but it's already longer than I thought Wink  Grin

Obviously you have ended up to the conclusion that it is better to live in your own bubble than in the convenient society?
Obviously you are free to do whatever you want but if I was you I would seek atonoment between you and your wife.
In my opinion, it is better to be happily married than being right in everything - like the case of a good car salesman: despite he is right in something, he has higher incentive to sell a car than argue on small things with the customer. My advice is: just let your wife live in the old paradigm if she wants to do it - you can still love her as a person, as an individual despite you do not agree on all the technical stuff (such as if you are gaslighted or not etc). Also, MD's are pretty smart in Finland - Medical school is among the hardest to get into so no stupid people graduate from there in Finland, therefore you can pretty much trust in the MD's in Finland. If they say something, they probably know it better than the patient based on scientific knowledge.

Is it a good price to pay to lose family and wife because of some crazy idea that comes into your creative mind?
Just accept your wife as she is and love her as she is.  Grin Tell her how beautiful she is and that you miss her and love her. In that way you can win her heart.  Cheesy Do it every day until the end of your life. Leaving a partner is not a good solution in my opinion.

542  Economy / Speculation / Article: Two things needed in order to be a millionaire on: January 02, 2017, 12:09:08 AM
Hello,

I found an interesting article on Cointelegraph.
https://cointelegraph.com/news/want-to-be-a-millionaire-two-main-rules-of-bitcoin-investing

It might sound very simple but there are two things needed in order to become a bitcoin millionaire:
1) Holding your coins (DO NOT SELL THEM FOR FIAT)
2) Store them secure away from thiefs and hackers.

Potentially bitcoin can rise 100 times in the coming 12 months and there are some selloffs - it is important that You are not a part of those selloffs, and hold yourself from not selling too early because bitcoin will be more expensive later.
In case you want diversification, consider Monero. You can spend Moneros pretty much anywhere bitcoin is accepted online via xmr.to - this makes your purchases anonymous.
543  Economy / Speculation / Re: $1000 on: January 01, 2017, 09:39:01 PM
In order to avoid hacking news ruining the rally, I advice storing coins in a safe and sound manner OUTSIDE of the EXCHANGE.

I could not stress enough the importance of not trusting in the exchanges, remember what has happened basically to all the exchanges, eventually they get hacked and there is a risk of loss of coins.
Please, do not put your trust in online wallets as well as they can be compromised.

If you are looking for selling bitcoins, consider also diversification into Monero along with fiat money.

Mine are on a paper wallet for 2 or 3 years now Tongue

It is official. Monero won title of most profitable Crypto in 2016:   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1732516.0

That's impressive. 2916,30% rise in just one year, wow. Unfortunately I wasn't into crypto world in the beginning of the 2016. Now I wish I bought XMR with as much money as I could afford. So, did some people from here earn big money with Monero?

Thing is that on 1st January 2016, finally binaries that was named 0.9 Hydrogen Helix come out. Basically everyone knew they will be out 3 months before that since was tested so long as anything in Monero.  Market did not react on it even once they were out, it did slowly with a delay.  ETH and latter I also remember Siacoin attracted way to much attention and made many blind to not see Monero.

I remember when I joined Poloniex trolbox on January 1st 2016 and said that Monero with Hydrogen Helix finally  started running and that everything in Monero will now take way less to get developed, people were laughing or ignoring me.

Most that are reading and posting here, bought Monero way before 1st January 2016 and paid much more then would at that point. But I am sure there are some lucky guys that did it at that time, when all was totally clear what is ahead of Monero.

Well beside that positive Hydrogen Helix, there was 3 negative things that was pushing Monero price down.

1. Ethereum and co in Spring of 2016  steal all atention
2. Bitcoin halving in Summer 2016, since everyone expected BTC rally and would buy Monero soon after BTC ATH.
3. ZCash start in Autumn 2016. Highly advertised Monero competitor.

With this 3 things not be there, Monero price would be way higher today.

Yes I remember, it took several hours of trolling in the trollbox to change the mindset (and positions) of the Poloniex troll community. Smiley

Yes the investment has been rising for a quite bit.
Here is the lesson for all of you guys who are pondering wether to go all in Monero or not.
I bought initially at 0.004 on average, then the period of dumps occured (which is still present quite often). The lowest point Monero has been trading this year is 0.01356669 btc per coin on Poloniex.
Actually, it is even around 20 % higher than the highest point in 2014!!!! So, do not panic if you buy on the peak. Do not let the trolls to convince you to sell your coins when the price drops after a pump but keep buying. I was lucky enough to buy more.

We will see if we get some Monero denominated fireworks this secular New Year's eve.  Roll Eyes I prefer Green Fireworks to Red Fireworks.

Nice price action - someone wants a lot of XMR....

 Smiley

I can't blame him/her.

I wonder if the same actor pumped and then sold - there were some large 4000 and 6000 buys and sells in there.

Of course I don't mind, it's nice to see 5% fluctuations in very short time periods - it means people keep an eye and there is good liquidity for large movers.   It also means it's worth day trading and market making.

Also, I get to keep my stash level and still average down a little although the price is way above what my average buy is.

I wonder why would someone buy 10 000 xmr and a few minutes later sell them? Doesn't make any sense to me at least.
Sure it is nice to have some action but personally I would like to skip the dumping part of the action.
What if there was an entity or a combination of entities just hoarding all the Moneros from the markets and refuse to sell any of them? Those basically could make Monero great and bring the price of XMR to millions. After all, if the markets are liquid enough, there is no reason for a bitcoin maximalists to switch to Monero maximalism and dump all their bitcoins into the tiny XMR markets.

There weren't many on the sell side.  Then, upon the rise up the sell side filled in under the price, also a bit of movement may have brought more money into increase the rise.  Selling back may have upped the income from the move - hard to say of course, but it's possible.

As for making Monero great for us - why would anyone do that?   I think the lack of coins available and the good liquidity means XMR is attractive and that is why we are at the top of the Alts tree.

Ending the year at this kind of level (comfortably over $10) is huge.  Monero is a real contender and here to stay - anyone needing a balanced portfolio of crypto must have at least considered XMR and I have always thought another run to the ATH or more is lilkely for Spring 2017.  What I did not think was we would end this year at this level - I am a happy Hodler*.

*Of course the unfortunate boating accident where I lost most of my XMR means I have far less than I did

I would speculate that is was the same person, testing the market to see where the supply and rdemand levels are, and shaking the tree a little in the process. The costs of the exploration (if any) are probably well worth it for the data gathered (not to mention that some of the trading will be into their own bids and offers)

just a little bit of probing before the next move ...  Wink

I love your nick.
Monero is the Phoenix that rises from the ashes.
I hope there will be some fresh green candles and high level of liquidity so that even the bitcoin maximalists dare to invest into Monero.
I am thinking I could be a market maker when the price is high enough for me. Now to make markets is a risky business since the cost might be the loss of your coins unless you have a lot of coins (which I do not have).

extremely strong point of supply around 0.0187

May correct a bit, this should take at least few days before we clear it if we do. If we do that quicker, this is a huge sign that bulls are clearly stronger than bears.

Why? Is there some kind of sell wall waiting?

My prediction is that  Monero can correct to 13 ot 13.25 USD levels and then test 15 USD levels. If it can break out from 15 USD then expect higher levels. I feel it is good to buy at the present levels and wait to book profits 15 USD for traders.

15 usd would be ATH for XMR in terms of fiat so it might indeed turn some momentum traders into super bullish mood.

It would be interesting to read the thoughts China has on Monero. Does Chinese people embrace Monero with open arms or despise it like a sack of potatoes (yes it is a binary decision like it seems to be in anything related to crypto)?

If you believe the rumors "tests indicate that Monero is pro-China, not the Chinese government".

Hopefully xmr will get adopted by the people of China, we will see. Exciting 2017 is ahead of us and I am glad it seems Monero project is getting serious with companies started (Monerodirect).
I have to admit even I was surprised on how fast Monero has changed from pump and dump game to serious project.

Ethereum did in 6 months what Monero will never do: be sold at Coinbase.

Monero made a lot of new bagholders yesterday... Roll Eyes

I am glad the coin gets wider distribution.
I have been a bagholder since June 2014 and my average buying price is under 0.003.
That being said, I am just a small fish and I do not own that many coins but I am still happy for each coin I am holding in my light bags.
556  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: monero price prediction on: December 29, 2016, 01:46:30 PM
what do you guys think about monero.....think it will be big as bitcoin?what you think the price will be 2018 or do you think it will ever hit $200+

1 year is a very long time for speculation about price of anything in general and it becomes harder when you want to speculate about an altcoin.
i agree that monero is a good altcoin and has lots of potential and there was actually some adoption for this coin, also you should remember that monero was not created yesterday Cheesy

it actually was around for a rather long time and it has not succeeded in anything so far, which makes me disagree with a $200 which is about a 1900% rise

When you will see biggest winners in 2016 you will be surprised and realise 1900% growth easily happen in crypto when there is Bull market as it was in 2016.    If you look GAME https://poloniex.com/exchange#btc_game it grow way more then just 20 times in 2 years from from jan 2015 to now.  Way way way more. 300 times.

there are two big things different here. 1) the price 2) the volume.

for example going from 1 satoshi to 2 satoshi is 100% rise and it is easy but going from $10 to $20 (100% rise) is not at all easy. and it needs much more work.

also the volume is a great factor. some coins can easily be bought or sold to increase or decrease their price respectively with less than 1BTC and some other need 100s of bitcoin to do the same.

so you can't just compare them like this. and just FYI XMR volume was 13119BTC today so far.

I think it is necessary that the price manipulator in the Monero markets will stop putting downward pressure on the price. Each time he has defeated the price breaks up.
557  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 29, 2016, 01:23:59 PM
Go XMR, you can do it.

if you just buy yesterday, congrats, that was possibly one of the worst buy point in the chart for XMR  Grin. Look above Wink

Or if it goes to the moon, it is still a decent buying point, given that he is a long term bagholder instead of a short term opportunistic speculator.

Wanna make $15k usd? Read white paper for syscoin and join us on slack at 12pm pst tom

I did not read but went to the webpage.
Basically it appeared to be (at first glance without any deeper research) to be a cryptocurrency that has ebay-type of selling platform.
So nothing new, if you have more understanding into syscoin, please proof me wrong.

It is great to have a marketplace, crypto need them but why one need to create a new currency for a marketplace?

You are right, they are not supposed to be there. They not only practice stealing (gezel) but even worse: they ridicule the name of the G-d (chilul haShem) which is even worse than stealing. To minimize sins they should hide their Jewishness in places like these.
Of course even better it is if they start acting like real kosher Jews and becoming an example to the rest of the world to make this world at least a little bit better place to live in.

I don't judge but I detest hypocrites, especially if they are pushing religion.

Resistance is crumbling, wish I had been able to acquire more last few months.

I hate hypocricy as well but the issue is it will cause damage to others who do not do things that are not allowed so for their sake it is better not to put kipa on head if one cannot resist the temptation (which is kinda natural for everybody and the idea is to be slightly higher to the natural).
People tend to judge/label the whole group based on a few individuals despite the majority may not act similarly than the black sheep.

I think Monero will be higher 1 year from now (not to mention a decade) as it is today so I feel pretty safe with my stash.
