So whoever it was that asked about the low loans, see the trap now?

Thank you this is a proper explanation. So would the (official GUI/CLI) interface be more correctly described as middleware?

No. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middleware

In some sense the daemon might be considered middleware. The GUI/CLI wallet would be the end user application.

with this kind of competition I could revise the potential of 2017 for Monero to a little more bullish behavior.

+1. ETH (and derivatives) have a hard year ahead of them hardening their use cases and coming to the realisation that Turing completeness on what amounts to a distributed vm is way too vulnerable. A lot of soul searching in that camp for 2017.
Ripple I see as essentially a digital postage stamp. LTC hmmm. Not sure. Bit like Mark Twain this one eg rumours about its death are somewhat exaggerated. Im reading that segwit is coming to ltc soon(tm). Anyhow it may show some innovation and potentially some growth. Plus of course the big C likes it.
So yeah good potential for an exceptional year for xmr it seems. Happy New Year!

Ripple was 100% premine IIRC
ETH Pre-mine scam
ETC The real ETH chain still premined

That really only leaves 2.

U2! Good year ahead I think. I need to catch up to you guys, I'm a year behind now. DOH

It is official. Monero won title of most profitable Crypto in 2016:   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1732516.0

That's impressive. 2916,30% rise in just one year, wow. Unfortunately I wasn't into crypto world in the beginning of the 2016. Now I wish I bought XMR with as much money as I could afford. So, did some people from here earn big money with Monero?

Yes the investment has been rising for a quite bit.
Here is the lesson for all of you guys who are pondering wether to go all in Monero or not.
I bought initially at 0.004 on average, then the period of dumps occured (which is still present quite often). The lowest point Monero has been trading this year is 0.01356669 btc per coin on Poloniex.
Actually, it is even around 20 % higher than the highest point in 2014!!!! So, do not panic if you buy on the peak. Do not let the trolls to convince you to sell your coins when the price drops after a pump but keep buying. I was lucky enough to buy more.

Congratulations, you've done it right.  Same thing was happenning with BTC in the 2014 when people who bought at $900 were selling at $450 listening to the trolls. They should have bought more and wait till today and then they would be in profit.

Thing is that on 1st January 2016, finally binaries that was named 0.9 Hydrogen Helix come out. Basically everyone knew they will be out 3 months before that since was tested so long as anything in Monero.  Market did not react on it even once they were out, it did slowly with a delay.  ETH and latter I also remember Siacoin attracted way to much attention and made many blind to not see Monero.

I remember when I joined Poloniex trolbox on January 1st 2016 and said that Monero with Hydrogen Helix finally  started running and that everything in Monero will now take way less to get developed, people were laughing or ignoring me.

Most that are reading and posting here, bought Monero way before 1st January 2016 and paid much more then would at that point. But I am sure there are some lucky guys that did it at that time, when all was totally clear what is ahead of Monero.

Well beside that positive Hydrogen Helix, there was 3 negative things that was pushing Monero price down.

1. Ethereum and co in Spring of 2016  steal all atention
2. Bitcoin halving in Summer 2016, since everyone expected BTC rally and would buy Monero soon after BTC ATH.
3. ZCash start in Autumn 2016. Highly advertised Monero competitor.

With this 3 things not be there, Monero price would be way higher today.

Yes I remember, it took several hours of trolling in the trollbox to change the mindset (and positions) of the Poloniex troll community. Smiley

I used to have some Moneros, but the Russians hacked them all in an unfortunate boating accident and now I have none.  Tongue

xmr is not the only option in town
there is another underpriced privacy coin out there that has yet to get the bright lights directed on it and will this month (jan)...

Missed this post a few pages back... but LOL c'mon man don't tease, let us know what other coin you're talking about here?

What could be better than our best good old HoneyPony's prospects at this current point in time??

Inquiring Minds Want To Know...!!!  Cheesy

There are a lot of interesting projects on the horizon
On the xmr thread there is no need to talk about other coins because we should focus on xmr but you should not only listen to the shills and also do your own research

I hope xmr will be the number 1 privacy coin and I am betting in that direction but I have also hedged into some others for diversification....

I think btc will be the likely winner of 2017 tho and eth is a wildcard  that might fail and go to zero or might grow exponentially, nobody really knows how but if you can afford it you hold some of each, come 2020 you may be shopping for a gulfstream jet Wink
