we are "on a break" until i "get my act together"

fucking fuck fuck!

i'm gonna go be pissed off now.

Your personal life not being any of my business of course, but, that said: any chance the "getting your act together" involves Le Coin, and the time/emotional investment into it?

If so, I admit that I know the problem (not with wife, but gf), and that it can make sense to draw some line somewhere, like declare one or the other day crypto free, for example.

You are right, i have the same experience...still balancing on the line Wink

I know how is it to be too involved in something, especially when it comes to technology, I had similar issues but thankfully my wife have no problem with me spending time reading and discussing cryptos, and I have to mention that since I quit my job I started spending more time with my kids and wife, time that I "couldn't" spend with them before, even with being on my PC for hours I still spend hours with my kids...

anyone reading this, there is nothing more important than your family, try balancing your life, because looking at that screen or discussing Bitcoin all day long is simply not going to change the output of things, at the end if the price will go up, it will, and if it will go down, it will... and you have nothing to do about that (except if you hold 100K BTC or 100 million dollars).

Bitcoin is about to undergo a 1:1000000 "stock" split.
essentially, they want a base unit and a second unit being 1:100 of the first.
https://bitcoinfoundation.org/press-releases/press-release-october-7-2014-bitcoin-foundation-financial-standards-working-group-leads-the-way-for-mainstream-bitcoin-adoption-2/
We already have two units: bitcoin and satoshi
Therefore, the only way to make this possible would be to recalculate bitcoin as 100 satoshi (deep inside everything is measured in satoshis anyway).
So, everyone with a current BTC will suddenly discover that he or she will have 1000000 bitcoins (officially called XBT from then on).
I think that this will put new bitcoin/XBT on a path that will eventually lead to XBT=~$1 with each satoshi=~1c.
How long it might take-maybe 20 years. If this happens, current BTC would equal $1,000,000

This could have a double effect, it could boost the price and make dealing with Bitcoin easier, but it also could be a big confusion and slow adoption for a really simple reason, while we were talking for 5 years about only 21 million BTC to exist, people will be surprised about Trillions of XBT (which they don't get in the first place).

This forum reminds me of the GTAT forum (until Monday). The posts -- with almost a religious devotion -- claiming that GTAT was going to be huge soon because of Apple, and that investors were getting in early and were going to strike it rich soon. But alas, it failed, and the pigs got slaughtered.

I know most people here are first time investors and they think bitcoin is awesome technology or what not, and that's why they have to make all the comparisons with the Internet, the telephone or whatever when they describe bitcoin. It's a way to delude themselves into thinking that bitcoin is much bigger than it really is. Why is Wall Street not buying bitcoin, the currency? Because it's overhyped. They can see right through it, and they're staying out, and only investing some VC to extract potential value out of some of the start ups surrounding it.

Guys, I hate to be a wet blanket, but take a look at some of the stories on the GTAT forums, people got burned... bad. Lots of stories about losing years of savings. I know you'll all claim "this is money I can lose" because you're telling yourselves that there's no way bitcoin is going to zero. People said the same thing for GTAT. Like Warren Buffett said, when the tide goes out, we'll see who was swimming naked. I suspect a lot of you are swimming naked right now.

Be careful out there. I don't want to see the stories of people losing their retirement savings, or losing all the money that was earmarked for their disabled children or what not. Sadly, I know it's going to happen though.

You sure are so wise for being a newbie... Probably guys here are sending you PMs and asking you what to do, too?

Banned again by bitcoin high priests for being a heretic. You do realize they don't ban people on the gold forums or any other investment for being bearish, no? Like I said, this place is faith based, and that is why it will fail... no fundamentals to back it up.

Did you know the user base of bitcoin is smaller than the frequent flyer club of Kuwaiti airlines? Bitcoin has been around for almost 6 years and nobody out there is interested. It's all faith based and controlled primarily by whales. The whales are your God (OK, so it's polytheistic.)

Market moves however they decide. Eventually they will pull the plug on the believers, and we're going back to single digit dollars.

I agree with most of your post, but you are really wasting your time here, I have been warning these hopeless cultists for months and they've always trashed me, a better thing to do would be trading against them and rip  the shit out of them while they are still enthusiastic. maybe they will learn a lesson (short the shit out of Bitcoin).

When the bubble burst most of them will disappear, but this doesn't mean Bitcoin will die because only then the real growth will start happening (without 90% of this cultists that you see today)

more shorts on finex pilling in?

If we go sideways (340-370$ range) for the next 1-2 weeks they will probably increase to around 15-20k. After that we would see a real massacre.
On the other hand, a bull whale might try to use the current momentum to squeeze em and shoot us up to 450-480$ by tomorrow.
The future looks bright!

My guess (with nothing to back it up of course)  is that we hit $400 in the next day or so, climb to $600 in the next two weeks with one more week in the $600-$700 range and then it is "bubble time" after we break $700 with three weeks of crazy increases up to $5000 to $6000.   Grin

Let me summarize this post: price will go to $400 then $500 because 500 is after $400 then it goes to $600 because 600 is after 500 then $5000 or $6000...I had to say it like this for people who didn't go to school... oh and I cant back this up with logic but if this will anyhow help bringing any legitimacy to this post: our lord and savor Jesus visited me in my sleep (or prayer) and told me that.

This is a nice zone for shorting for the people who went long around $280-320, it might still go up a bit but I don't think it will hold for a long time.

BTC breakout short term atm... Time to share...

MY ULTIMATE BEARISH CASE:

MY ULTIMATE BULLISH CASE:

currently, the bears are winning, but it is still possible to return to the bullish case and stay between those 2 trendlines Wink

edit:
I call that we will never touch 275 USD again and probably will never dip below 300 USD
You have the right to ridicule me if this doesn't happen  Wink

Here we go again, another never post, I love these posts Smiley

Edit: and yes, I still didn't buy and wont buy, my chart is not showing any kind of reversal, it could be just a dead cat bounce.... if we go to $500 and maintain it for days or continue going up, I will buy back, but for for now it is business as usual, waiting for more downtrend.
Again the usual sell low, buy high tictacs...

except that I've sold @600 Wink

You are missing a few points.
How are you sure that they got only 1 cold wallet? The 30k might have been sent from the deposit address to another one or to multiple or even at multiple transactions going to multiple cold wallets etc.
Even after gox people have to trade. If you want to trade big, you need lots of coins and fiat IN the exchange to do that.

this is Bitstamp cold storage address, which now reveal something interesting, these last transactions were made to refill the hot wallet so people who bought that 30K wall can withdraw their coins, but this is not the interesting thing, however there were only 148KBTC in that wallet a couple of weeks back, so this means the owner of the wall already had his coins at stamp all the time and he didn't send them there like some guys suggested here.

what is interesting, or rather annoying is that even after Gox people still leave their coins at exchanges...

because I waited for hours and that transaction didn't move to any other address.

Edit: I do trade as well, and the only thing I keep on the exchange for open orders is Fiat, but I move coins in and out right away.

I admit I would love to see it tank a little harder, high 100s or low 200s...for about a week or two.  Grin

This could cause to much psychological damage!

I agree.  Even the dip to $275 scared some investors away.  It makes people nervous.

It doesn't make sane investor nervous, and you said same thing about 3xx... (never going to happen remember ? because I still do)... in fact I wish that it will fall to that level, because some cultists are just a bunch of greedy get rich bastards that needs to be shaken off, a healthy mental and objective community is what Bitcoins needs most right now.

...
Nonsense.  Long before Bitcoin was a thing, I dreamed of money with wildly fluctuating buying power.
I imagined a world where it took an hour to buy a cup of coffee, an hour to gas up your car, an hour to buy a bag of groceries...  Because math.

Zero confirmations duh.
...

Err.  I'm solow, explain to me how that works.

Can you imagine

1. There will be bitcoin bank.
2. I'll fund my account with bitcoins in this bank.
3. This bank will pay to merchant 1 per day for all his customers.

you mean centralization, the only thing that makes Bitcoin different from banks....

What is the bitstamp international wire deposit delay like? Any ideas? Might be delaying the response to the low prices?

I think it is about 5 days on average.

Edit: in case you are worried you will miss "cheap" coins, I dont think you have to, because there is still a big possibility that we will see even "cheaper" coins.

International as in sending from the US to Slovenia?  I send in the morning from the US, money is in my Bitstamp account and verified when I wake up the next day.

really ? Interesting, I thought only SEPA is that fast, beside they say 5 days in their website... I am really impressed.

I sent a few thousand Euro from the UK to someone in Belgium and it arrived pretty much instantly. I believe it took minutes, not even hours to complete.

it is not about the performance when sending money through SEPA between people but it is about the performance when sending it to the exchange, Bitstamp have a banking software that need to be checked for deposits... I don't know how they do it but it usually take few hours.

Been with them over a year, they have a copy of my passport main page for the KYC rules, and wires average between $5-10k each time.  Not sure any of that makes a difference for clearing quicker or not.

yes y mistake, I did check again, and it is not an average of 5 days but it could take from 2-5 days.

558  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The "you cant kill Bitcoin argument" on: October 07, 2014, 07:02:54 PM
What does "block bitcoin at ISP level" mean? Bitcoin is not a single IP or Server an ISP can block and as long as me and the nodes I connect to use Tor the ISP might be able to detect the use of Tor (AFAIK not even that is possible) but has no ideawhat the traffic actually is. Could be recepies for cake, could be bitcoin, to the ISP its basically noise. Thats why I said youd have to dissallow encryption and thats not an Internet thats a corporate network with limited services.

block port I meant, i thought it only connect using 8333 but I was wrong.
559  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The "you cant kill Bitcoin argument" on: October 07, 2014, 06:56:09 PM
found the answer, this is not a threat, things have changed since version 7.0 even IPv6 is supported  Roll Eyes
560  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 07, 2014, 06:53:41 PM
....
I didn't know that Satoshi client could do that, I thought the only time Satoshi client used port 80 is for the external IP discovery (91.198.22.70 which is checkip.dyndns.org), can you please point where I cant find this information it in the wiki ?

in fact I will try blocking the port my self and see how things will work!
I'll see if I can find something, not sure how I even found it was a problem as I just installed and it seemed to work fine, I think I tried to find my IP in a list of full nodes but it could have been debugging output either.

EDIT: Fsck that, searches flooded with mining and config data, some vague stuff from changes made in 2011, couldn't find any clear info.

yes, you are right things has changed since version 7.0 even IPv6 is supported now, therefore my argument is invalid Smiley
