Reading about mmitech issue makes me wonder...

How do the Muslims deal with banks? Interest = 0%??

serious question.

If I understand it correctly , Muslims are not permitted to earn interest on money, this is "Riba" and is forbidden.
What they can do is receive rent for an asset they own - so a Muslim may buy an apartment, a physical good, and receive rent for allowing someone else to use it.
Given that bitcoin is not a physical thing on which one can earn a return I would have thought it was a bit of a grey area for Islamic finance anyway. Equities are ok as are securitizations as in those you buy the right to a series of cashflows that derive from a real asset, bitcoin hmm, tricky.

on a side note, I am not a Muslim fanatic, I question things very often and I don't care about what any book says, I have to be convinced to believe in things.

the 0% interest is a great thing to be honest, it simply doesn't allow a loaning economy to exist (free money) yet give the chance for businesses and individuals to achieve goals without using them, some could argue that the interest is the benefit that you get for risking your money, yes true to some point but in all economies it turns out to be the free money from the bank and back to the bank, the huge interest is generated from thin air and add nothing to the community, in fact it just encourage greed and laziness and gives a fake pump to the economy.

But how can a bank get income and pay for salaries and and all other costs ? well it is simple an Islamic bank isn't by the western definition a bank, it is a commercial institution, it is not a bank per se, you never get cash as a loan... you need a car? they buy you the car and rent it to you for a tiny profit until you become the owner, you need to buy a house ? they negotiate to buy it for you with the owner and you can live in it and pay "rent" for a time you agreed upon until you pay the whole price and you become the owner, you cant sell it untill you pay, simply you are not the owner of anything until you pay it off.

think of leasing as the closer to an Islamic loan but with way less fees.

Bitcoin is like commerce, you buy it for $10 and you sell it for the best bidder, it could be $5 or $500, so it is not a gray area, it as clear as it can get, this is what most Arabs did for a living for centuries.

This thread is becoming unbearable

if people like shroomskit stopped bashing on every analyze or a prediction or a question and simply not take everything personally this thread would be cleaner, but well this is what happens when the price is not moving.

as I said before, Bitcoin needs bubbles for its survival, if that doesn't happen soon, the community will simply kill it.

I learned something while reading here.
And that is that nobody and i really mean nobody has a fucking clue what they are talking about.
Anybody who uses this thread to know when to buy and sell might as well throw some dice or darts. The results will probably better.
All these "facts" and charts and lines and people acting like they know it all.
It really isn't much better than the Btce troll box here. A bit more civilized maybe but in the end it's nothing but idiots screaming BUY BUY BUY SELL SELL SELL! We all do it in one way or the other.
Also hilarious how everyone is an auction expert suddenly. And a China expert and an expert in anything really.

except that you love the idiots that yell BUY BUY BUY because you are the same type of idiot bull-tard as they are, and you hate traders and non hodlers and who ever question anything, you are like a religious-tard who never question things because it is a sin and god forbid.

Actually no, i think they are annoying as hell.
Welcome to my ignore list by the way.

you ignore everyone on this thread and everyone annoys you, I don't know why you bother to come here... oh yea, you come to tell us what kind of fuck-tards we are then you put us in ignore, this is your job in the forum.

some known early adopters are dumping, and many  other adopters/investors/developers are slowly losing faith (one of them speaking), Bitcoin needs another bubble ASAP, bubbles are the only thing keeps Bitcoin ongoing.

Bitcoin days destroyed says differently.

So please shut up.

Hows litecoin doing, btw?

I am doing Great on my Litecoin investment, I bought at $0.17 (0.0036BTC ) and I add some more at the last drop @ $8.2  Smiley

You betcha. Peter Todd dumped at LEAST five figures. Dollars, that is.

On a side I wonder how much the core devs are invested personally, out of pure curiosity.
Jeff Garzik publically stated he "only" has 348 BTC which is far less than some speculators here.
I have met another vip core dev in person and I understood he is in the thousands BTC but below 10k.

Gavin has (had last year) more than 20K BTC

I remember someone selling an existing exchange on this forum for something like 10 BTC.
Does anyone remember this and maybe provide a link to that topic?

I remember that as well, it seemed fishy to me ( he didn't sell it anyway)
1313  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 25, 2014, 09:57:28 AM
If someone would market buy 30k btc now, how much would it pump the price?

no one buys 30K BTC from public exchanges, in fact you can (if you want to) buy sums of more than 1000BTC off exchanges like from miners, bag holders, payment processors, or big merchants holding BTC like Bitmaintech.
1314  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 25, 2014, 09:50:06 AM
what is happening now is a rally between holders to sell without causing any panic, the book order is really thin with few thousands BTC at the Bid side while there is more than 12 million coins out there, do the math.

11 million as Satoshi is in for the long haul. Smiley

Auction is only two days away, so it is quite feasible that coins are being dumped to depress the market "reference" price ahead of bidding.

this would be a stupid move, you dump coins to bring the price down because of the possibility of wining the auction and buying low !!!! remember it is an auction, and you are not the only one bidding so wining is a only a possibility...well I sure wouldn't do that.
1315  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 25, 2014, 09:16:49 AM
This major fear for a tiny auction must be the dumbest thing i've seen in the Bitcoin market so far. Unbelievable.
Something like Expedia accepting Bitcoin is 100 times as big and important and nobody gives a shit.
8 days of coins being sold and it controls the whole market and actually makes it go down before even something happened.

I don't think silkroad coins has much to do wit this and big companies adding Bitcoin as a payment method at this point is really bad for price stability, regardless of Bitcoin being on news more than ever, the user adoption is dropping really fast, if only these companies held the coins it would be as if we got new users with every purchase.

Beartrap and manipulation of prices for the auction... just as spected before the rally

Bulltrap(600) in an extended bulltrap(680) has been closed, nobody cares about the auction, decline to 250$ is in progress. Nothing to see here.
$250 Cheesy Good one.  I don't usually find you funny, at all.  Maybe I'm high on coffee. Cool

$250 lets see if that holds as well.

Says the guy who is 100% invested in Litecoin. Lol

you know nothing about me or about what I am invested into Wink

Hi ..

First off what language are you planning on doing your implementation in?  i18n features should help to make that pretty simple.

When you talk about a merchant payment gateway are you talking about bank integration as well?  There's little to no chance you'll find a bank willing to participate.  SVB does coinbase's banking, but they won't even take on miners as clients.

The exchange and wallet service are a few hundred hours of work, so I'd expect to pay $20-30k at the very least for that, perhaps more if you want it all done *right*.

languages are Arabic + English, if u mean programming language i hve no idea .. thats the programmer job

The Cost is not An issue .. as long as the Quality of work can be Trusted by our clients.

Payment Gateway .. Banks will be involved .. but not directly .. we will use Local Currency only .. they will not store bitcoin or deal with it .. we will sell and buy bitcoin .. what cash required to be transfered to Customers Bank account .. we will use the bank

You mean SVB will not pay TX fee to miners ?? ..
by they way .. i was thinking about hiring miners for our own transactions .. is that possible ?

20-30k USD is very fine and logical.

$20-30K will not get you anywhere with the size of this project, I think you don't know what you are dealing with, beside the technical side that has to be done (programming and administration), the legal part of the project is also important.

and when the project is done and online, you need constant development, you need to hire a couple of developers to keep things going.....

Batches of 500BTC as I said before...
1320  Economy / Services / Re: Im not a Programmer .. i need help on: June 24, 2014, 03:36:08 PM
from the user name I would suggest that the targeted market is the Arabic one, if I am right then PM and we can discuss this project. (PS: I am originally an Arab)
