1521  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why is Difficulty exactly 1 until Dec 29th 2009? on: April 17, 2014, 03:29:01 PM
It would be nice to mine @Diff 1 with rigs from today Tongue

Hah Cheesy
All blocks would be mine! :]

if you had a 1TH/s machine in 2009, you would mine all the first 2016 Block really quick, then the difficulty would jump where it should be in order to get 10min average blocks rate..... I am not sure what is the maximum difficulty jump at once, I have to check that up.

although you would have the majority of the network hashrate, you could do what ever you want assuming you know how to.... which makes me think about how lucky and thankful we are that Bitcoin is still alive today.

Sells Scrypt miners and doesn't accept Litecoin as a payment!!!!  what a shame... I cancelled the order the moment I saw I cant pay with Litecoin, good luck though.

Been long time since I peeked here. All I can say is insane from graphics cards to those things with pics above. I wouldn't even know where to start with bitcoin mining any more. Ima try to get back into litecoin mining soon though as long as its easy hook up graphics cards..

Graphics cards will be history with Litecoin mining as well.

Yeah thats why i mine bitcoin with mine its really profitable at the moment

You mean the other way round?

I think he is trolling
Hes not.
ScryptGuild gives me anywhere from 0.1-0.2 with a 3MH
It's the only other option besides renting out the rigs to make some decent roi.

he said he is still mining Bitcoin with his GPUs

Did anyone verify the chinese news today is real? I looked at the link and it was something something xxx ching chang.chong and I didn't want to go because it might be a virus.

It was just a rehash of whats already been said countless times. There hasnt been any news out of China since Dec 15th the situation is exactly the same now as it was then.

In other news the west seems to be overtaking China. There way of telling the Chinese they dont care for their FUD???

By real I mean the article isn't a complete fabrication by a trader.

Seriously, just few days ago PBOC had a public conference and journalists asked about Bitcoin, and the governor said : "PBOC Won’t Ban Bitcoin " ..... I did notice that each time the price goes up an article popup about china banning Bitcoin, the one from today said that they will do it after one week, in December they said they will do it on new years then February, then in March they said the 15th April... come on people.... played me once, shame on you, played me twice shame on me...

This isn't about banning bitcoin. It's about segregating it from the fiat banking system. People are free to use the bitcoin technology but not pay an exchange with their bank account.

this refer to them being idiots, how people are going to use bitcoin if they are not able to buy and sell ? they said it is not considered a currency but a commodity and people are free to use it, and as any other stock exchange, people are going to use banks to make transactions...

it is clear IMO, banks are not allowed to offer Bitcoin services and also third payment processors, I thought this was clear and I really don't understand how can these people manipulate the market.... in the other hand I really want to know who is behind all of these articles...

someone on the litecoin forum wrote this :

Quote
....And we are almost back to where we started on the day before yesterday.   It appears that the price spike is due to more news out of China.  The PBOC released a statement that said that they didn't have any intention of banning BTC.   I have some friends who are in the industry and work with a couple major Chinese Conglomerates.  They have all said that the Chinese Government is loading up on BTC behind the scenes, while putting out more and more regulations for the masses.   They will most likely back off on their regulations once they feel they have a large enough holding, and feel that they can control the market.

It is still the wild west out there, and market manipulation is running rampant.

Yes, there is no upside to using bitcoins for whatever, besides tax evasion.

Hilarious, Im sure your trolling and if your not then you are beyond hope.

I think we can agree to disagree.

No we can't.

1528  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 16, 2014, 12:28:20 PM
I've thought over my trading history and realize 80%-90% if my profits are all made during new-ATH rallies and the huge crashes afterwards. I perform very poorly during bear markets and consolidations, and make bank during the rally/crash conditions, doubling my coins exponentially every week. So I should probably just make a resolution to only trade during those short 2-3 month time periods and then leave whenever there is a bear market. Maybe I use the 1W MACD to determine this.

Of course you do. Any mug can make gains when liquidity is pouring into the market. In a bear market when liquidity is being drained from the market, only those ballsy and disciplined enough to sell and buy the utmost extremities of the trend line will make money, other than that the odds are stacked against you and you are just whale fodder. I made most of my gains from Nov 20th onwards up until mid Dec (I sold high and got very lucky with buy-ins at near base of Dec 5th crash). Since then profits have been low and my recent max leveraged short trade that I opted to finally hold out on, got absolutely fkn slaughtered by the time I tapped out which takes me firmly into net loss territory since 2014.

Lesson learned. Same lesson as is occurring in your head and the same lesson that countless others have been taught. Don't trade a blatant bear market. The result of this is more and more liquidity leaves Bitcoin until the point where the splashes made by greedy whales become less and less pronounced due to less and less liquidity reacting to them. No ultimate bottoming out of any market entailed a 45% swing from bottom within a few days, not even a past Bitcoin bottom.

Have also noticed that Bitstamp are becoming tighter and tighter with allowing deposits to register in peoples accounts. I sent over just $3K the other day and again, they are wanting me to 'prove' where I am getting it from. I told them to fuck off. I am getting my money back, I can't see how I am going to get any amount of money back onto that exchanges cos no way am I giving them any personal details of the description that they are asking for. Bet there are quite as lot of Bitcoiners who are feeling the same. Not exactly conducive to increased adoption is it?

Bitstamp is not the police, they don't have the right to block or freeze your funds, they are protecting their asses and not yours, they are doing the casual checks when you reach a certain limit so when they ask you, just answer the question...because lets be honest, if they see something suspicious about your account activity they would report you right away..

That's very interesting and I agree, not conducive to increased adoption.
I wonder what the perma bulls (aminorex, risto) think of this.
Thanks Mat.

It depends how you look at it, they arent asking for proof its just normal KYC stuff, it shows more compliance if anything. If you have nothing to hide it makes no difference and if you do then pay the premium and use an exchange that isnt compliant. BTC-e or localbitcoins etc.

Isnt that exactly the reason people get into crypto, because they have somthing to hide?

firstly, talk about your self, secondly, what are you hiding exactly or should I rephrase what do you think you are hiding ?

A serious correction is due. After that, if we can break above the purple cloud, we are back in a bull market.

I think you will be left behind over this one  Wink

Mtgox fucked up, after the bankruptcy protection they are filling for liquidation, so I guess they couldnt get the lost 650K BTC that they've thought it was recoverable....

each time Bitcoin price starts going up an article like that one popup, I find it really fishy, and fuck this shit, I am not trading this and I will be holding to my coins.....

good luck and see you in a couple of months.
1534  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 16, 2014, 08:57:10 AM

don't you get tired of this shit ?

based on what I read on the media, China has been banning Bitcoin for 4 months now, yet no official statement from PBOC came out since December, and the last statement was few days ago which once again has confirmed that china wont ban Bitcoin......

Litecoin went from 14.17 to 13.1 in 5 minutes then back to 13.95.... talk about volatility and making profits....

my plan is to hold and not trade till the end of May Smiley
1538  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 16, 2014, 06:41:22 AM
I made so many bad decisions today it's not even funny. I can't fucking believe that I managed to lose some money on this drop to 340 and rise up instead of making a killing.

I'm in the same club. I took my principal away long time ago, but still! Almost half of my gains in coins since December have been wiped.

told you guys this is not safe to trade, we will be going up on waves till the end of this month then the price will be somehow stable for some time (couple of weeks).

and good morning Smiley

LTC/BTC can't seem to keep up with this rally anymore.

Its very weird, I know the LTC rally is normally slightly delayed behind BTC but its gone down if anything since BTC started to rally.

Worried about sidechains? Or maybe with some of the other innovative alts, the fact that LTC only has a faster confirmation time doesn't really matter?

The real differentiator for LTC was always scrypt ASIC resistance.  Now that is utterly gone.

Possibly the proliferation of scrypt ASICs is damaging LTC.

Possibly the blackcoin pool is damaging LTC.  After all, BC is catching a lot of GPU miners, and the goal and purpose of the pool is to destroy competitor's value.

The true reason imho..

Scrypt coins are as good as dead. Their only reasons of existence was that they were asic resistance. Not true anymore. And there will be more and more multipools like BC to cash out value from scrypt coins.

the only reason they were ASIC resistant because it wasn't profitable to develop and tape-out an ASIC for them, today thanks to Litecoin this is possible, and IMO small Scrypt coins will die soon and Litecoin will get all the hashing power. an average mining farm could kill 90% of all existing scam coins.

investors doesn't give a shit about the mining algorithm or about block re-target and BTW ASICs are only good for the network security, Litecoin is the most successful and original alt and IMO investors are looking at it as an alternative market that can take off soon.
