Well that and as the dag grows you may need to reduce slightly to keep stable.  Just because the card was stable when the dag was smaller as it grows in size you will run into little issues which will require trimming back the OC.  Usually a very modest decrease in OC will do it.

My 2970wx does 3 at full speed.  I do not recommend using this combo...but i had an extra x399 and TR2 so why not.

Guy since you are the one that do the wiring go out and buy stronger socket and I'm pretty sure they exists, there are 30amp sockets around the world and I'm sure they exists in india as well, you are lucky you don't burn down your house

Lolz.  Grin Grin Grin
That was pretty close. However, I had the assembly installed in vacant room with nothing to burn nearby.

Since the incidence I am not mining now so that I could figure out how not to burn down the house.  Tongue

Fine, I will look for the 30 amp or higher range socket in the market. Will post the whole assembly with pictures here before I even switch it on. I am currently scared to do it again so need to have all the precautions before hand.

You will need to replace the socket / wires / breaker with properly sized and undamaged ones for 30amp.

Actually Even mining boards with a single long slot work fine.  i have done this on H81 and even TB85.  1 4gb in gpu 0 slot mining eth.  The other gpus on another coin on risers.  Running the one card on eth pays more than running it on any other coin currently.  The other slower cards are better on other coins than the reduced speed due to dag on eth.

Super Zombie Mode requires lolminer and 4gb gpu.  You can run 1 or 2 (a few very large cpus can run 3 or more) 4gb gpus at nearly full speed.  You must put the card physically in the long slots.  1st gpu in slot 0 closest the cpu.  The second if your board support into another full slot,  The trick works by using the pcie lanes to supplement the vram on gpu with a little bit of system ram.  You need x16 pcie lanes to get full speed with x8 providing about 50% of the SZM vs ZM.  So a 570 about 26+mhs, 560 14.5mhs....at SZM.

So if you had say a 3 card riig (580-8 / 570-4 / 560-4)..and it has 2 long slots...and you have 24 pcie lanes becuase of the cpu you are running you would put 570-4 in slot 0 / 560-4 in slot 1 / 580-8 on riser to x1 slot...and could see 26/14/30mhs = 70mhs.

Which beats the hell out of doing all x1 risers and only seeing 48mhs for all 3 cards (4gb cards would be in zm but not szm)

It will end but looks to be some weeks/months away.  Eventually the dag will grow to a point were there is no speed advantage to using system ram.  The pcie lanes are not quite fast enough to equal the speed of vram...if it was it would continue to work.  Its all about moving bits fast.

You dont have to set options in command line.  It will detect and tune all cards automatically.  Just set algo to eth.

I know it works on linux as all my rigs are on some version of linux.  Try it on windows and see.  Will need to see if you can use igpu and no display hooked to gpu in long slot.  Just trying to keep windows from using any or minimal memory on the gpu.    Post results if you do.

Hey does this work on Windows ? Or MUST be in Linux?

And thats why i say he needs a licensed electrition.  Hes lucky it hasnt caused a fire and chances are the wiring needs replacement on that circuit.  Get a professional in there so its right and complies with the electrical code.

He obviously doesnt have the knowledge to correct the problem himself.  Hes melting the plug...then the breaker is tripping...the wiring on that circuit is going to be damaged.
568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Repeated burning of Switch board - What’s wrong? on: March 04, 2021, 01:33:04 PM
If you dont know why its happening then I would suggest a qualified electrician look at your problem.

569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig with server boards, on: March 04, 2021, 02:16:58 AM
You heard wrong, there are some motherboards that won't be needing any BIOS mod or updates to detect all graphics cards onboard, I have two separate rigs here that I don't even look into it's BIOS name at all because it detect all 6 cards with no issue

I do hope am wrong and ur right! But I started with my asus x99 deluxe, crappy board if u ask me ! Couldn't get more than 1x gpu (1080 ti) to run on it, adding my other 3060 ti (even one) will make the screen go black once in windows ! Some pcie slots on that board won't even allow os to boot ! Bad start if u ask me !...
Strange i have little brother of yours x79 from msi with 3930k, it is running very well with 4gpu.I never change anything in the bios of that,i just keep adding and it worked always. 5gpu i did not tried because i dont have space.
About server boards i think you will need both cpu installed otherwise some pcie lanes may not detect (im not sure so search it)

r u having 4 GPUs on risers ? and YES i have both CPUs installed on the server board Smiley
Yes 3 gpus are on risers 1 gpu on 1st 16x slot because this mobo and cpu dont give onboard vga. Psu is 1000w crappy huntek sliver psu but working.

do you think if my crappy x99 board just wont support more than 2 GPUs, do you think using one of these can be a good work around to trick the board to add mroe GPUs ?...

kind of a worse case scenario if am STUCK with this board for a while...

thanks,

They work.  Can probably only run one in the system.  But that would get you 4-5 gpus instead of 2.
570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.5c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: March 03, 2021, 10:01:53 PM
Does PhoenixMiner have a GPU max limit? I have a RX580 rig that I cant get to run more than 8 GPU's. It will either immediately shutdown after you start the miner and close the window or it will fail to load the dag file and restart the miner after showing a specific GPU error. All RX 580 cards are 8gb and the O/S is Windows 7.

Miner supports as many gpus as you can get working.  Ive got some 13 gpus rigs on it no issue.
I will add im on linux so maybe a windows (or windows 7) thing.
571  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nicehash power saving on: March 03, 2021, 01:57:23 PM
If you really care about power usage get a wattmeter (killowatt) and measure the true draw of the rig.  Thst 70-90watts you seeing on screen is only part of the power the amd card is drawing.  Amd driver does not report power through slot/riser...so you are missing a lot of what the card is actually using.  There is no rx480 that draw actually 75w while mining.  it may show that on the screen but when you measure rig power you will see actual system draw.

But you did save some poer by limiting.
572  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: how to use the Sapphire rx 480 nitro 4 gb to mine ETH ? on: March 03, 2021, 01:49:59 PM
Hi,

DAG size is more than 4GB so you should be probably able to mine for some more time (not long) but your hashrate will be very limited by that. probably like 5Mhs now in windows and 8 in linux. so yes youa re able to mine some short period of time but actualy no  Grin

My vga card does not work

im have this error

Socket connection closed remotely by pool

how im can fix this?

Thanks
Almir

on 4gb 570 in slot-0...currently get 26mhs
on 4gb 560 in slot-0...currently get 14.5mhs

This is not reular zombie mode,..this is using super zombie mode...ie just plug it in primary gpu slot and run lolminer.  It does the rest.  Oh one last thing i know it works in linux but windows probably not due to how much vram windows sucks up.
573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: how to use the Sapphire rx 480 nitro 4 gb to mine ETH ? on: March 03, 2021, 01:47:14 PM
The key is put the gpu into the first long slot closest to cpu.
Use Lolminer
Hash 26mhs+
Profit

Hmm so this lolminer zombie mode still works? That's awesome, @miner29 what about if one have more than a single rx480 4gb gpu? Since you stated that the gpu must be inserted into the long PCIe slot which is the x16 I believe

The trick is the card must be in a full slot on mobo.  It is using a little bit of system ram to store the DAG over 4gb.  So for full speed need x16 pcie lanes.  If oyu have a bigger cpu you can maybe get 2 or even 3 (i have a TR2 cpu with 48 lanes so can do 3 x16 slots).  But even x8 gives a nice increase.  This trick will last a couple more months then the 4gb will slow down just like regular zombie mode.  But a wonderful hack by lol.

575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: above 4g decoding h110 pro btc on: March 02, 2021, 11:42:07 PM
Hello, i have 70 Gb of virtual mem and 8 go of physical mem

Only windows suffers the need for virtual memory.
What odd is that HiveOS (linux) should not have this problem at all.

I see the title but do you have Above 4g enabled in bios?
VT-d (virtualization) off

These are the bios settings i use in linux and works with 13gpus.

set VTd INTEL VIRTUALIZATION to DISABLE.
set ONBOARD AUDIO/SOUND (AZALIA) to DISABLE.
set IEEE1394 to DISABLE.
set PCI-E SUBSYSTEM/LANES to x8/x4/x4
set ONBOARD GRAPHICS to DISABLE.
set PCI-E GENERATION to GEN2.
set CPU FREQUENCY SCALING to DISABLE.
set CPU PERFORMANCE MODE to ENABLE.
set FAST BOOT to DISABLE.
set CSM to ENABLE.

577  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Windows wont boot on a mining rig/gaming PC on: March 02, 2021, 12:15:21 AM
Here is the manual for i believe your board.

https://manualsbrain.com/en/manuals/1561180/?page=8

Shows expansion slots and what they do depends on the cpu you are running.

Can you advise make/model of cpu?  Some have 40 pcie lanes and some only 28...this determines how the slots on the motherboard are utilized.    Pay attention to the * and ** notes about the expansion slots.

Looks like setting in bios of pcie slots to 8x8x8x8 would allow 3-4 gpus to run no issue.  But i suspect yours are x16/x8 meaning if you only have 28 lane proc....you are out of lanes.  Thus try 8x8x8x8 option and should boot.    For most mining x1 is plenty.

Let me know happy to help dig into it.
578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Windows wont boot on a mining rig/gaming PC on: March 01, 2021, 05:37:51 PM
Do you have any M.2 Drive installed. A lot of boards will disable a slot if you use the M.2

Also have you tried putting the riser card in the 4th slot?

Try removing GPU2 and see if the riser + 1st gpu work together.

If they do then most likely its a pcie lane issue.  If you have both slot 1 and 2 as X16 you may not have the PCIE lanes.  For most mining x1 is fine.    Also looks like it may have 2 x1 slots can try those as well.

It appears it doesnt even complete post when it has all 3 currently plugged in.
579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum mining reward shrinking on: March 01, 2021, 04:56:58 PM
No it means the pool has been unlucky

So maybe I should switch pools?  Everything I've read and watched says to go with the highest hashrate pool and to stick to PPLNS.  That viabtc pool isn't an option for me as it's in Germany (I'm in Canada).  It shows that it's PPS+, PPLNS, and SOLO (on Miningpoolstats).  Can it be all 3 at once?

Yes a lot of pools offer optional pay systems for the miner to select based on port attached.  Read the start mining directions for the specific pool.
580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RVN mining on: March 01, 2021, 02:34:30 PM
I have another question. Is it possible to mine RVN with a 1050TI? I got like 14 of them eating dust. I only see miners supporting Cuda 9.2 and up. and these are Cuda 9.1 as far as i know.

Yes only need 3gb right now so 1050ti can mine for a few years.  T-Rex works fine on 1050ti.
